I've been checking out some old 3E modules and ran across the Sunless Citadel. How much interest is there if I were to run a PF conversion?

Broad Strokes of my plan:
4-5 characters starting at level 1
All Paizo material could be accepted for character building
It's generally a dungeon crawl but I would be asking for character hooks to include in the adventure to mix a little homebrew in.
-Yes, there are follow up modules that can work after Sunless Citadel but, we'll cross the bridge of whether to continue on when we get there.

A touch of information on the Sunless Citadel
The Sunless Citadel is a fallen fortress located next to the small town of Oakhurst. There are a number of story hooks that could be used to give us a reason for placing you in the town, willing to explore the fortress. We will decide that as a group once we have a group.

About me:
I'm still fairly new to the boards here but have been playing PF for a year and 3.5 for much longer.

Interested. Dot.

I love the Sunless Citadel. I actually played an Illumian Words of Creation Paladin through just a bit of it, but the game fell apart, unfortunately.

Would you potentially be okay with some third party material? Akashic Mysteries, from Dreamscarred Press, emulates the Magic of Incarnum system from 3.5e, and given the importance of the Bastion of Souls to incarnum, it could make for some interesting character development if we refluff Akashic to the "channeling souls to create almost-magical items".

If you're open to the idea, I can run a few ideas I've got past you. :)

Edit : I know a game making it that far, to that high a level, could be a bit much to wish for, but it could happen!

Interested.

Interested but I don't know it, what setting is it? Which will also help us know what deities to look at who are unfamiliar with it... or are you transplanting it onto Gollarion.

Grand Lodge

Interested as well

Interested.

Would you be moving the citadel to Golarion or leaving it in Greyhawk?

Sounds pretty fun. Dot.

I've added a link to a wiki with Akashic Mysteries available for perusal.

I'm going to say no, sorry. As the first time GM'ing here, I'd like to keep this to content I already know.

I expect everybody to hold up once per day during the week with lower expectations on the weekend. I'll promise at least once a day from me, probably more. Occasionally I travel for work which would affect my posting times, but probably not posting rate.

Greyhawk transplanted to Golarion. At this point I have a better feeling for lore in Golarion.

Golarion...exact location TBD.

Awww, what a shame. I'll assume that psionics is likewise off the table.

Still interested, but I'd definitely have to think about what I'd attempt to bring to the table!

Grand Lodge

I would be interested.

Alright. Recruitment is open. It will run until November 17 or until I get 20 submissions, whichever comes first...Info is posted in the Campaign Info tab.

Looking forward to getting this started!

Will adjust soon

I have a Warpriest of Erastil that I made a while back that didn't make it into a game that I think will work quite well for this. Thinking about having Oakhurst be his hometown, and he has sworn to protect it. As he was designed as a level three character, I'll have to make a few adjustments.

Think I will submit the_Hound here, I didn't get very far in the adventure he was created for. I will make the appropriate changes.

I like that idea having ties to the town could be very...useful to me.

We promise we won't judge him by his facial scars (much).

I would love to play in your game, I'm new to the Play by Post concept. Never have in fact. I'm no stranger to narrative and elaboration. Been playing D&D for 18 years (among other things), Pathfinder for probably about a decade in there. Most of it as GM. (For a quick background on me) I've never had an opportunity to explore the Sunless Citadel.

Any who - I would like to submit Bellion Caudex (Wizard).

The guilded mage towers of Cheliax is where Bellion spent most of his teenage years, and quite a few of his early adulthood. Learn, practice, repeat was the consistent motto of the Arcanum. Cheliax bred it's mages for power, conquest, domination, and ultimately subservience to it's Demonic rulers and Regency.

This however was not the life for him. His natural skill and connection with the Arcane distinguished him as far beyond the ability of his fellow mages. To this day, Bellion swears that he heard the Arcane energies speak to him, and guide him away from Cheliax.

He travelled east in his need to understand the Arcane, it was such a complex mystery. He joined in with a group of Mercenaries, known as the Warblades, traveling through the central lands. That year was by far the most 'fun' for Bellion. He had a chance to flex his Arcane muscle, and develop his martial skill. What shaped Bellion the most was the difference in life, from regiment to relaxed. He did some things that he was proud of, and some that he wasn't as much. He'd come to think of the Mercenaries as a family.

Which brings us to Taldor and the smaller city of Oakhurst. What was supposed to be a stopover became the end point for the Warblades. They were moving through Verduran Forest when an overwhelming group of Pirates set upon them. It was a battle of attrition. The Pirates fighting for wealth, while the Blades' were fighting for their lives. Only three of them survived, Bellion being one of them. The three survivors took refuge in Oakhurst.

The Arcane would 'speak' to Bellion again, a new chapter would begin from the unfortunate end of the last.

---

Should you accept me, I would build the character in full. This is a short synopsis of the backstory for Bellion. I had planned on elaborating simply to flesh out some of the more defining expereinces, but as he's a level one character, the majority of the expereince is minor. Theres nothing overly heroic or incredible.

I submit Savien Calla. He can work as a pure martial or rogue, or with a little tweaking, even a cleric or magus. I'm flexible.

Edit to clarify plot hooks:
1) Is his father missing or dead? Why did he really leave?
2) The situation in Oppara I left deliberately vague. Is the girl he loved still alive? (in my darkest version of the plot-line, Savien tried to kill her father and she jumped in the way and died on his sword instead O.o) If so, would she run away from home to be with him? Or did his actions in Oppara leave enemies that might come after him?

I was wondering if you might allow for a Vine Leshy (Ultimate Wilderness) Leshy Warden druid?

Edit : Due to the way Vine Leshys take Leshy familiars, it would turn out more to be a pair of traveling Leshy friends than anything else, most likely following leads to try to find their creator and assist them, which I also have some storyline ideas for if you're interested.

Are we going to be taking traits? Not really for or against it, just something I can't find an answer to.

Interested. I'll have a character put together once creation guidelines are posted. I'm thinking either an half orc warpriest or a dwarven shaman.

Sounds good. Thanks for the time you put into this!

I think this could work, you will just have to supply the details on the Vine Leshy since I won't have it.

Sorry, missed that in my information character information. You can take 2 traits as long as you can work them into your character. I'll update the creation guidelines.

I'm not yet sure what to specialize in, but I'm liking the concept, if nothing else.

Dotting. Will try to put something together for this. Sounds fun. :)

Going to be submitting Iulus, who is mostly a ranged combatant. He is honorable and caring, wishing the safety of his hometown, Oakhurst.

I think an interesting hook would be monsters being seen by villagers near the Citadel, or perhaps a person or two has wandered a bit too close and has gone missing. Iulus would also have several ties to the people of Oakhurst, perhaps on a personal level.

Doomed Hero here with my Warpriest of Gozrah.

Akula is a little bit of everything. He can fill the role of the party scout and trapsmith, he can frontline as a tank, be ranged support, and in a pinch he can be the party healer. I designed him to be as party-friendly as possible.

Akula has no ties to Oakhurst, but is driven by his faith to seek out the source of the corruption he can sense in the natural environment near the town. It may be that through the course of his mission he will find the sense of community he lacked among his own people.

As a player, I'm a longtime PbP vet who loves immersive, teamwork oriented, exploration focused gameplay. I'm very reliable as a poster, and I try to make sure every post either engages another player or moves the story forward (or both).

Akula's background, personality, and mechanical breakdown are all in the alias. Please let me know if there's anything you would like more information about, or you would like to see changed.

Alright, I've started a submission tracking file here.

Make sure yours is listed if you have submitted something.

Please add me to the list.
Unchained rogue.
I should have the adjustments done today.

Been busy at work, will make changes tonight and post when done.

Julio is looking for work and Oakhurst looks like a lovely little hamlet to hide out in.

Updated with submissions from Julio and Jovich...

I haven't played Sunless Citadel, but is it an adventure that focuses on dungeon crawling or is it a more balanced adventure that features social, exploration and investigation and dungeon crawling?

Are you using background skills?

There is some balance and I will be adapting it for more of the non-dungeon crawling aspects. But that being said, it is a dungeon crawl.

Little Ben PBP wrote:

Yes, we will. I think they add to the depth of characters.

Changed Iulus to reflect that. Thanks!

I do believe that the character is adjusted and ready for your approval.

Little Ben is ready too.

Tinkering
Seekers often look to ancient devices, old tomes, and strange magical items in order to learn more about their oracle mysteries. As a result of this curiosity and thanks to an innate knack at deciphering the strange and weird, a seeker gains Disable Device as a class skill. In addition, at 1st level, a seeker adds half his oracle level on Perception checks made to locate traps and on all Disable Device skill checks (minimum +1). A seeker can use Disable Device to disarm magical traps. If the seeker also possesses levels in rogue or another class that provides the trapfinding ability, those levels stack with his oracle levels for determining his overall bonus on these skill checks.
This ability replaces all of the bonus class skills he would otherwise normally gain from his mystery.

Revelation
Bonded Mount (Su): You gain the service of an unusually intelligent, strong, and loyal mount. The creature must be one that you are capable of riding and is suitable as a mount. A druid may cast spells on her animal companion even if the spells normally do not affect creatures of the companion's type (animal). Background:

Fizzlebang has always been a curious gnome, not content to continue the watch making business of his family. Ever since he dreamt about the lady with butterfly wings, he has gone out to see the world. As he travelled, his silver tongue acquired him new friends like a particularly smart wolf he named Fernir. He keeps records and notes of the places he has gone to, and his journal has become filled with more entries of the places he has gone to.

Working on 150 gp start.
