Venja
Venja sighs... I hope that blue color doesn't mean it's immune to lightning... or cold. let's try electricity first though
She casts and aims a lightning bolt at the critter.
lightning bolt dmg reflex dc 17 for 1/2 dmg: 8d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 3, 2, 4, 4, 4, 6) = 29
DM Variel
Reflex 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (14) + 13 = 27 half damage
Jetro fires a pair of arrows at the spider like creature. The first arrow buries itself in its hide but the second just bounces off the thick carapace.
Venja tries to fry it with a lightning bolt. It nimbly evades the bolt but still gets singed.
Orgar and Cynehelm up
Standard action to cast detect evil but a further move action to get the total 3 rounds of information.
Duardlara Frostborn
Thanks for the move, I forgot it was an option. I actually posted that from a computer (instead of the normal phone post), and should have been able to do it myself this time.
Orgar
Round 1
"Well done, Duardlara. I don't think the beast cared for my bait, though."
"Then again, that was the idea."
Orgar then enhances his bow with his Eldritch Power, moves up beside Helgash and shoots at the giant spider:
Olchur (+1 composite longbow): 1d20 + 12 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 12 + 1 = 32
damage: 1d8 + 2 + 1 + 1d6 ⇒ (8) + 2 + 1 + (1) = 12
Eldritch pool enhances the long bow, +1 and flaming property:
bab +12/+7, add +1 to hit and damage, and +1d6 fire damage
Cynehelm of Orlov
Cynehelm summons into being a fiery scimitar, its elaborate handle and crossgrips in the shape of Sarenrae's holy symbol. It flashes down on the spider of its own accord.
Spiritual weapon: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 171d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
DM Variel
Both Cynehelm spiritual blade and the st of arrows from Jetro strike at the carapace but do not puncture the hard skin of the demonic spider. Orgar hits with his arrow but the demonic nature of the creature repulses all but the thinnest of scratches along its face.
Happy where it is at with its long pincher like front arms it lashes out at Greta 15 feet away.
bite 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (20) + 21 = 41 for 2d6 + 11 ⇒ (1, 6) + 11 = 18 and rot (fort DC 23 fort save or take 2 con damage)
claw 1 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (4) + 21 = 25 for 2d4 + 11 ⇒ (2, 2) + 11 = 15
claw 2 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (13) + 21 = 34 for 2d4 + 11 ⇒ (3, 2) + 11 = 16
with both claws hitting the demon grabs a hold of Greta's armor as it tries to rip it to shreds. CMB check 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (6) + 25 = 31 success...need a reflex DC 25 save or Greta looses her armor as it is ripped off of her. Regardless the armor has the broken condition.
Good guys up
Venja
Venja aims a ray at the spider...
rta to hit: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
strength penalty, fort save dc for 1/2 penalty: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Duardlara Frostborn
Duardlara studies the creature, nothing its otherworldly characteristics and trying to determine what might be known about it from those features.
Knowledge (planes): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27
She casts a spell, conjuring up a greenish dart that flies toward the abyssal arachnid.
Ranged touch attack for acid arrow: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
Acid damage (unless her knowledge check indicates a better energy type, which she will change to as appropriate): 2d4 + 1 ⇒ (4, 3) + 1 = 8
Reminder to self: Two more rounds of 2d4 + 1 damage (if this hit).
DM Variel
This is an advanced bebilith! A demonic spider tasked as hunters and assassins in the abyssal realms. That Baba Yaga has one here as her 'pet' is a testament to her great power. What 2 things would you like to know.
Jetro hits it with his first arrow drawing ichor down one of its many legs. The shot still did not punch through as it should have though.
Duardlara sends a glob of acid at it that hits due to its enormous size.. The acid seems to take full effect on it.
fort save 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (15) + 17 = 32
Venja sends a black bolt of energy at the creature that saps its strength and possibly saving Greta some precious health in the process.
Orgar
Round 2
Despite the lack of results from his first shot, Orgar tries shooting the demonic spider with his bow again:
Olchur (+1 composite longbow): 1d20 + 12 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 12 + 1 = 14
damage: 1d8 + 2 + 1 + 1d6 ⇒ (8) + 2 + 1 + (2) = 13
Olchur (+1 composite longbow): 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 7 + 1 = 21
damage: 1d8 + 2 + 1 + 1d6 ⇒ (8) + 2 + 1 + (2) = 13
Eldritch pool enhances the long bow, +1 and flaming property:
bab +12/+7, add +1 to hit and damage, and +1d6 fire damage
Helgash
Huh... Orgar, why the bow man? Greta is getting trounced up front.. Shall I take the lead with Helgash? It is obvious she cannot tank this alone.
Had no idea the beast could reach her from so far away...
Also before I do any rolls, Variel you forgot to check that critical hit (which I am sure will confirm at +21 to hit vs. her AC17), and I think Greta is going down hard.
I'll post Helgash actions afterward.
Duardlara Frostborn
Cynehelm of Orlov
Just to be certain, the spiritual weapon hit but did no damage? A force weapon? Does it appear to be spell resistance at work?
Spiritual Weapon: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 171d8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Knowledge (planes): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (13) + 12 = 25 Do I know whether this thing is immune to fire?
Still have a full turn to go.
Duardlara Frostborn
I will share my know: planes when Variel has time to reply. Hopefully you can ask for a different fact than I requested and we will all be more prepared. I'm guessing the issue with the weapon is DR, though. This is a bebilith. That much I know for sure.
Duardlara Frostborn
Maybe so. When Variel has time, he can answer the knowledge checks and we can determine if we have tactical choices. I would not be averse to resting - seems like we've been down here for days. And Greta needs serious healing.
Duardlara Frostborn
I hadn't seen a response, but you've been busy, so I figured you would get to it. I gather no special defenses or resistances, then? That was the first question I asked.
Duardlara Frostborn
*facepalm* Yup. I thought you were talking to Cynehelm and didn't read it closely. I guess we wasted a knowledge check since we asked the same question.
Helgash
I'm gonna assume the crit will hit Greta for an additional 2d6+11 (average 18) damage, on top of the... 18+15+16 = 49 she already took. Total is 67 points of damage, putting her at -8 most likely. She could take more or less damage (I'll wait for Variel's roll), but she will always be unconscious after those attacks.
The barbaric woman doesn't even have a chance to cry out her rage at the monster like spider in front of her, falling under the onslaught.
Fortitude: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (6) + 11 = 17
Reflex: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
Stabilization: 1d20 + 4 - 8 ⇒ (5) + 4 - 8 = 1 <-- Fails.
"No!" - Helgash roars in denial, looking at the fallen woman, feeling though she is still alive through the life link connecting them (dat CON 18!!), and her wounds beginning already to heal.
Life Link heals Greta for 5. Helgash takes 5.
"None shall fall!" - he roars again, stepping toward the creature - "I will not allow it! The Goddess vengeance will smite you!" - and attacking without hesitation.
Bardiche Smite, overcomes DR if evil: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (13) + 14 = 27
Damage if it hits: 1d10 + 20 ⇒ (1) + 20 = 21
Orgar
Round 3
"That bow was bloody useless", Orgar says as he drops Olchur (his bow) and approaches the demon, to help Helgash fight it
As he nears, he goes into a state of Mystic focuss and unleases a blast of cold breath at the demon:
breath weapon: 8d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 2, 1, 3, 6, 4, 1) = 19 . . (cold damage, 30 ft cone, dc 15, reflex halves, 1/day in mystic focus)
And with that, he draws out his scimitar, Issar. . . quickdraw feat, free action to draw weapon
@ DM Variel:
Want to angle Orgar's cone of cold damage so it avoids Helgash, but hits the demon
Venja
Venja concentrates and decides on a gamble... and uses her slumber hex on the demonic spider.
will save dc 18 or it falls asleep for 8 rounds: Slumber (Su) Effect: A witch can cause a creature within 30 feet to fall into a deep, magical sleep, as per the spell sleep. The creature receives a Will save to negate the effect. If the save fails, the creature falls asleep for a number of rounds equal to the witch’s level.
This hex can affect a creature of any HD. The creature will not wake due to noise or light, but others can rouse it with a standard action. This hex ends immediately if the creature takes damage. Whether or not the save is successful, a creature cannot be the target of this hex again for 1 day.
please roll a 1! lol, I can dream
"If it falls, don't hurt it unless you can kill it in one blow, any damage will wake it"
DM Variel
Helgash moves 5 ft closer and lets out a terrific blow powered by anger, fear but more importantly love and holy retribution. The blow strikes the spider directly bypassing its DR and dealing a grievous blow.
Orgar casts a spell covering the spider in cold 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29
Venja then tries her magic in putting the massive creature to sleep. 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
The demon shrugs off half of the cold damage only to fall asleep to Venja's potent magic. Curse that slumber hex. I was gong for 3 kills with this guy.
Venja
YAY!!!
time for a really high damage coup de grace... or running away works too
Duardlara Frostborn
I say everyone with a weapon coordinates a joint coup d' grace. I won't roll unless everyone agrees. Shame to waste the +20 on Helgash's smite...
Venja
Venja is at full hp...
Helgash
Helgash turns to nod at Venja - "You offer us victory my friend" - then back at his companions - "This monstrosity cannot be"
Taking two more steps toward the bebilith, Helgash swings as hard as he can - no hesitation whatsoever, his weapon shining bright as it strikes the creature.
CDG: 3d10 + 60 ⇒ (4, 5, 10) + 60 = 79
Not sure this will kill it as far as HP go. But the Fort save should :D
At the same time as he swings, Greta regains her conscience, albeit almost too weak to get on her feet.
Helgash takes 5 and is at 49. Greta heals 5 and is at +2
Venja
"Oh, Helgash, you are a lifesaver... thank you so much for killing that horrid monster! Now, let's get Greta healed up and search this place." She looks around, casting detect magic to aid in her search.
Helgash
Seeing Greta getting back up, Helgash manages a smile at Venja - "I think you were the lifesaver on this one my friend - who would even guess such a monster could sleep" - he comments, offering a hand to assist Greta in getting up, her armor falling to pieces around her.
Greta heals another 5 and is at +7. Helgash takes another 5 and is at +44.
"This will not do, it is time you get better equipped" - he nods at the beautiful woman - "Our foes become more and more dangerous by the second, and we need to be able to meet them head on"
So, unless the Bebilith has a plethora of hidden loot, for a Fighter type like Greta, I see that our Loot List has a Breastplate +1, and a Ring of Protection +1. Anyone minds if Greta gets these. She needs an upgrade to her gear.
Venja
"Let's get out of here.. maybe burn the cocoons and the remains before we go?"
Orgar
Sorry for being a bit tardy. Been distracted from being both busy and having pulled an Achilles tendon.
After Helgash puts an end to the demon:
"Well done, Venja! Good thing too, since it almost shrugged of my dragon's breath. Which I simply can't do often."
once the contents of the cocoons are known:
"If whatever's in there is alive; we should probably kill them first."
"They'd probably come back to give us grief if we let them live."
"Being demonic and all."
Is Greta or anyone else in need of a spot of healing?
Orgar still has a nearly-full wand of CLW if needed.
Duardlara Frostborn
Most efficient application of healing may be to Helgash - his nature grants him bonus healing, which he is sharing with Greta via lifelink
