Sorry guys, this week is going to be murder for me... Moving for the Nth time in two years is really taking its toll on me..
If all goes well, I should have internet right from the get go, so from next Monday onwards it should be smooth sailing only.
But until then, it won't be easy to get online.
My apologies to you all.
Duardlara Frostborn
Indeed. I have striven mightily to never have to do so again. I won't pretend to give advice to someone so much more practiced.
Orgar
`allo, `allo, `allo!
Sorry I've not posted a thing for four days.
I had a decidedly unplanned trip to the hospital.
And there's no Internet access where I was, sad to say...
Thing is I had a spill down two whole stairs in my flat and landed just right (or horribly wrong) on my right knee.
Turns out I tore the patella (?) tendon that holds my right kneecap in place.
I've been in the hospital from Thursday night until an hour ago.
Had to wait a while for the surgery because of a crazy busy weekend at the hospital ER and all that.
So I ought not be going anywhere outside my flat for quite a while. Have to wear a knee immobilizer for six weeks. Lotsa fun (sarcasm!).
But if I do go off radar again like this, please feel free to bot me.
This was rather unexpected, and hopefully won't happen again!
Thanks for your patience, all!
I'll post a bit later tonight; I just need to have a bit of a lie-down for now...
Orgar
Thanks. It'll be six weeks of the knee immobilizer and three months for a full recovery.
Could've been worse; I saw people in ER with a lot worse problems than I had.
Can't complain about the Canadian health care system. They take good care of you when you really need it...
Duardlara Frostborn
My trips to the ER have been few and far between and I have to say I am generally willing to wait when I see what other people are dealing with. "There but for the grace of God go I."
Best wishes on the recovery going as quickly as the doctor expects.

Like I said it could've been a lot worse. I could've cracked my skull on the landing corner coming down.
The knee is feeling a lot better now. Still awkward with this knee immobilizer on all the time. Just everyday things like getting shoes or pants on because one leg can't bend. Oh well. At least the leg is still attached! :D
Duardlara Frostborn
Good attitude. When all is said and done, you are expected to have full use of your leg. That’s something to focus on.

From the gameplay thread:
Duardlara Frostborn wrote:How so on the fireball? You saw he took x1.5 damage from fire, right? :DHelgash wrote:Had you already used that fireball? ;)I considered that, but Cynehelm’s much better fireball didn’t seem to have as much effect as desired and mine is more likely a minion-roaster than BBEG-killer. I opted to enable our bruisers. I thought a well-placed sneak attack on the weakened cleric might allow Greta to start hammering on the heavy hitter. At least I was able to provide you a flank to help finish the creature off.
I haven't done the metagame math, it was an off-the-cuff analysis, but let's see. (I do try to not metagame in the midst of a combat, but I don't know that I'm terribly good at completely avoiding the temptation.)
Cynehelm threw a fireball with a damage range of 15 - 90 plus 30 and a Reflex save of 18.
Duardlara's fireball would have a damage range of 8 - 48 plus 3 with the same Reflex save. My first evaluation error is that I thought Cynehelm's save would be much stronger than mine.
The creature's reflex save vs. Cynehelm's fireball had a bonus of +13, so a 5 or more makes the save. In other words, it has an 80% of making the save for either of our spells. I was assuming if he avoided Cynehelm's, he would avoid mine even before I realized we proffered spells of the same DC.
Assuming the successful save, we are basically looking at him taking 75% of the rolled damage. For Cynehelm, the damage range becomes - roughly, I'm not examining the details of how fractions would actually round - a low of 12 + 22 points of damage and a high of 68 + 22.
For Duardlara, the damage range would be from 6 + 2 to 36 + 2.
We're both correct - yes, the creature was vulnerable to fire, but my fireball is much inferior to that of Cynehelm.
In the end, I just felt my best contribution was to free up Greta so her devastating attacks weren't wasted on the relatively squishier cleric.
Besides, as the timing worked out with the retcon, I had already committed to the attack sequence when he threw that fireball - it took three rounds for it to resolve and his fireball was on round two of the three.
Duardlara Frostborn
Not saying it was the correct choice. Just explaining the choice I made. I honestly did consider trying to one-two the baddies with Cynehelm's fireball and mine, but I'm trying to play her more as rogue than mage - which is why she only preps a single fireball in the first place. Plus the other factors I already shared.
I'm going to have to figure out how to gain some new spells for her. When she gains a caster level via the prestige class, she doesn't get new spells automatically as she would gaining a caster level as wizard. So next time she levels, she gains two fourth-level spells per day - but has none in her spellbook. She can use the slots for lower-level spells, of course, but greater invisibility would be a wonderful addition to her repertoire, don't you think?

Guys, dropping a line to let you know I will be going on vacations from the 20th until the 30th June. Will have access to internet, and will probably be able to post here and there during those 10 days, but in between family, SUN, beach, swimming pool and summer beverages, the posts will have to wait a tad ;)
Jetro Clampett
Will level up. Will get an Efficient quiver and many arrows
Level 10
HP +8
Bab +1
Fort +1
Bravery +1
Bonus Combat Feat:Improved Snap ShotYou can take advantage of your opponent’s vulnerabilities from a greater distance, and without exposing yourself.
Prerequisite: Dex 15, Point-Blank Shot, Rapid Shot, Snap Shot, Weapon Focus, base attack bonus +9.
Benefit: You threaten an additional 10 feet with Snap Shot.
Normal: Making a ranged attack provokes attacks of opportunity.
So I can threaten with a 15 foot range if anyone gets close. So say someone moved up to melee while I have my bow out, I can hit them up to 3 times
Skills: Perception +1 Swim+1 Ride +1
Duardlara Frostborn
The changes are basically done for D’lara, but on another system, so I can’t provide them yet here. I may look at an enhancement belt to negate some of the physical effects of my aging. <Metagame thinking> I really can’t be too upset about bonuses to all my mental stats with a more-dedicated rogue coming on board to handle physical roguishness.
Orgar
Here are the changes for Orgar:
• +1 level of magus
• FCB: +¼ Arcane Pool
• New Spells: Glitterdust (2), Greater Invisibility (4), Wall of Fire (4)
• Skills: know (arcana) +1, know (local) +1, know (planes) +1, perception +1, spellcraft +1
• New Item: Amulet of Natural Armour +2 (8,000 GP)
I've updated my profile/avatar as well. Correctly, I hope.
Duardlara Frostborn
So if we include Greta in the split, that's 3000gp per character? I didn't realize I'm poor as a church mouse, also. Some thief I am...
No time to update the character sheet, sorry, Variel. I didn't do anything too crazy - another level of arcane trickster. The aging effects might make me adjust some leveling choices, but I'm not certain yet.

Don't forget that you can sell anything that you found as well to get more money for purchases. I was wondering if anyone was going to mention any of the items found that they are keeping or selling. The frost thunder hammer is valued at 24,524gp and can be sold for half. That right there is some extra money in 1 item. The cookbook of augmentation is valued at 21,500gp. You have more money available than you think if you sell stuff off.
Helgash
I think our main issue is that we stopped keeping track of loot.
I went back to check everything we found and here is what I got Variel:
- frost thunder hammer: 24,524gp
- cookbook of augmentation: 21,500gp
- rough-cut gems, art objects, andjewelry: 18,000gp
- +1 lance
- mwk composite longbow
- 40 arrows (Jetro)
- potions of cure serious wounds (2)
- mwk breastplate
- belt of mighty constitution +2
- periapt of health
- spell component pouch
- potion of bear's endurance
- potion of nondetection
- scroll of continual flame
- scroll of invisibility sphere
- scroll of phantom steed
- bottled yeti fur (Ultimate Equipment 2 85)
- a hammered copper bracelet (worth 15 gp)
- a violet garnet (worth 260 gp)
- a gold necklace (worth 500 gp)
- a carved j ade ring (worth 225 gp)
- a masterwork silver dagger
- 15 pp
- 248 gp
- 1,060 sp
- a gold water clock worth l,ooo gp
- potion of protection from arrows
- a black star sapphire worth 3,000gp
- jar of earwigs
- scroll of flame strike
- bejeweled skull worth 1,200 gp
- a leather sack containing 800 gp in assorted coins and small gems
Now further back.... The Ice Devil dropped this which I think we never sold (Link):
+1frost spear
+1 Mithral chain shirt of lesser shadow (Lara has this I believe?)
+1 shocking longbow +3 str [basically composite - Jetro you have this?]
Decoy ring
Periapt of health
Also this (Link):
- 4 doses of enhanced shadow essence poison
- 3 magic potions of remove blindness/deafness (think Orgar took one, but don't know about the rest, perhaps Greta should get one)
And this (or were they an ilusion? Link):
- the longspear on the south wall is a +1 giantbane longspear,
- the curved sword on the north wall is a +1 cold iron scimitar.
- The panpipes on the table are pipes of haunting.
- The punching dagger is +1 alchemical silver punching dagger.
Then there are:
- Ghost Touch Longsword (assume they are +1) x2
And I stopped there :P
I know we already have one, but I'm going to put this all on to another spreadsheet, do the math and mark what has been assigned to whom.
We may have WAY more gold than we think.
Guys, Variel, could you confirm we never sold any of these?
