The oni glares at the gathering band, "So, we are all gathered for the final dance..." he mutters before attacking Nechtan. Fortunately the ranger ducks the blow, which narrowly misses him.
"Ach, enough of this he growls and moves away from Nechtan.
Attack with morningstar - miss. OA from Nechtan 17 vs AC misses. Nechtan's turn
Nechtan of the Krutne
Sorry for the delay, missed the edit.
As the Oni is out of range, for now, Nechtan switches to attacking the tree.
Move to O12. Make Tree Hunter's Quarry. Twin Strike (1d20+8=23, 1d10+2=10, 1d20+7=13, 1d6+1=3, 1d8=3) vs Tree's AC.
If anything adjacent to Nechtan attacks him, or an ally:Disruptive Strike (1d20+8=17, 1d10+5=6) vs AC, hit gives -5 penalty to target's attack roll.
Fabes DM
Sorry for not making this clear. The blue area is a pond. It is not only difficult terrain to wade through but moving through each square requires a DC15 Acrobatics or Athletics check to stay upright. A failed check means you fall prone. In fact, to reiterate (I have lost track to whom this has been made clear) the dark brown, green and blue squares are difficult terrain; the green squares also provide cover and concealment. Would you like to reconsider?
Fabes DM
Brave Nechtan's bastard sword is the only attack that breaks the bark! The tree retaliates and whacks the ranger with a hefty branch. Shadows form round the tree once more.
Tree rolls crit - 34 vs AC. 14 damage to Nechtan Disruptive Strike missed.
Greylan slides off Darvyl and takes out a healing potion from his bag. He glugs it and says with an odd note of triumphalism, "Told you these would be useful!"
Darvyl's turn
Darvyl Wrightson
Ynyr the Artificer
Ynyr calls to the assembled multitude.
"Now the tree is a night twist, you see? And it gives out impulses of sadness and fear. So if you happen to feel sad or afeared, don't you think it would be the tree doing it to you?"
I know it's not my turn, but I am guessing I can do that as a free action
Fabes DM
An arrow imbeds itself in the oni's shoulder and he grunts in pain. The verbeeg move in for the attack...
V1 16 vs AC on Nechtan - miss. V2 move to M14 attack Nechtan 22 vs AC - hit with Relentless 6 damage to Nechtan and he is pushed to Q13 He succeeds at Acrobatics check to stay upright.
One of them pushes the Krutne with his glaive but Nechtan keeps his footing in the muddy pool.
Ddraig's turn
Ddraig Goch
Ddraig pulls another javelin out, and hurls it at the oni
http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/1939439/ - Next Javelin Throw (1d20+7=21, 1d6+4=8)
"I will see your corpse before me, evil one, and I will pray for its redemption in the next life."
Are we still posting as spoilers for general attacks, or are we past that stage?
Healaugh
"Tha gurt twisted pile of branches, tha's nowt but wet kindling."
Healaugh jabs his wand in the direction of the night twist and bellows his arcane insult at it. Nodding with satisfaction, he rallies his friends.
"Stay out of range of nasty thing. Can't be doing with this at all."
Vicious Mockery at tree (1d20 6=26, 1d6 5=9). Yo! Crit on night twist. It takes 11hp psychic and is at -2 to attack until end Healaugh's next turn.
Ynyr the Artificer
Ynyr moves to R14 and throws his dagger at Verbeeg number 2.
Magic weapon against V2 (1d20+9=26, 1d4+4=5)
Ddraigh gets a +1 bonus to attacks until the end of my next turn.
Fabes DM
Healaugh hits but it has resistance.
The halfling shouts at the horrid tree but his insults seem to have little to no visible effect.
Good thing both of you rolled so well as these guys are all getting superior cover from the trees.
Ynyr makes a mighty throw at one of the ogre-kin and it reels in pain.

The oni looks grim as he turns into a misty cloud and then flies above the tree tops northwards. He is now 15 feet in the air and insubstantial.
Nechtan of the Krutne
Nechtan wades back into the fray, flailing about himself with his claymore.
Move to O12. Acrobatics (1d20+8=20)
Dire Wolverine Strike vs AC of Tree, V1, damage, HQ (1d20+8=16, 1d20+8=24, 1d10+5=15, 1d8=2) I think that he hits V1 for 15 points
Fabes DM
Nechtan splashes across the pond to attack the foes on the other side. He slashes at the evil tree but its bark proves too tough. The verbeeg is less lucky, and winces in silent pain.
The tree (or night twist, as Ynyr has pointed out) swings its branches at Nechtan but the Krutne dips, dodges, dives, ducks and dodges some more. Greylan fires a magical missile at one of the verbeeg which strikes with some force.
9 damage to V1.
Healaugh
Vicious Mockery at V1 (1d20 6=23, 1d6 5=9). Versus Will.
"Tha gurt cludgie"
Healaugh takes a leaf out of Nechtan's book of invective and aims his latest attack at Verbeeg 1.
"Take 'em down one at a time lads. Can't be doing with flanking from this bunch of no-goods."
Ynyr the Artificer
Actually, Ynyr is at R14
Cursing the cowardly Oni for flying away yet again (or at least making itself insubstantial) Ynyr throws uses his dagger to perform the Fiery Infusion spell centered on N12. This only hits enemies, so will target the tree and verbeeg 1.
This is vs reflex and does 7 fire damage to anything it hits. Regardless of anything hitting, Nechtan will deal an extra 2 fire damage every time he hits until the end of Ynyr's next turn. (AND: If anyone else is within the burst 1 area, when this happens, he will also get the +2 fire damage bonus)
Ynyr moves back to U13
EDIT: Sorry, just checked with character builder again and they have revised the to-hit mods to +8 (it was +5 originally) so the to-hit rolls are 18 and 22 respectively.
Fabes DM
Ddraig Goch
Ddraig strides forward (to O13) and withdraws his sword.
"Your kind will not trouble this world again" he snarled.
http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/1949540/ - Valiant strike against V2 (1d20+10=20, 1d8+6=7)
Fabes DM
I'm not sure whether my valiant strike is +10 plus another one/two etc for each adjacent enemy, or whether that's included in my +10. If it's in addition, then I'll be at +11, so my roll will be 21 v AC
Fabes DM
Moved you to 014 as that's reachable with a move, and then a charge.
Ddraig charges in and slashes at one of the verbeeg. Meanwhile, to the north, the oni becomes solid once more and stomps with fell purpose to Healaugh. With a leer, he swings his morningstar at the little fisherman.
17 vs AC. 6 damage to Healaugh and he is pushed to V10
Nechtan of the Krutne
Blood pouring from him, Nechtan moves carefully to flank the closest Verbeeg, then lets loose with a flurry of attacks.
at 5 hp, 1 surge. Shift to M14. Hunter's Quarry on V2. Twin Strike vs V2 AC, with CA and HQ (1d20+10=22, 1d20+9=19, 1d10+2=12, 1d6+1=2, 1d8=2)
Fabes DM
Fabes DM wrote:You can't shift into difficult terrain, I believe. But you hit even without CA.I wondered about that, but I saw that the verbeeg had shifted... If he cannot shift, Nechtan attacks from where he was. And I forgot, +2 Fire damage on each hit from Ynyr's action.
A mistake on my part. Whoops... in recompense of which, you may shift as well. Doh, must remember to follow the rules myself.
Fabes DM
V2 is bloodied. The night twist uses Shivering Branches - standard action burst 2. Attacks on V1 (hit), Darvyl (31 vs AC), Nechtan (30 vs AC), V2 (hit), Ddraig (32 vs AC). Nechtan, Darvyl, Ddraig each take 16 damage and you are knocked prone. Both Verbeeg are now dead as a result. Greylan casts Chill Strike and misses.
"This is not good..." Greylan mutters to himself as the warriors are sent sprawling by the swipes of the tree's mighty branches and his icy blast has no effect on the evil tree.
Darvyl's turn.
