posted as gilthanis...tried to work my fluff in with Meng/Kid

Shadow Lodge

I'm not feeling the trapper archetype in this story. Sorry.

Just checking... is my Char good to go?

No worries, I can rework the fluff or crunch as needed. The main question is trapper valid, don't wanna rework if it isn't :)

Not sure if kidding...go away troll.

I'm a little saddened that you took that seriously. The art of irony is dead.

Shadow Lodge

No trapper archetype allowed.

@CM - I didn't take it seriously. I just don't appreciate trolling in a recruitment thread. Every post lessens the chance new applicants will choose to open and read.

Concept: Ranger (Skirmisher)/Monk (Sohei)

Background:

Gabe Armistead used to be a cavalry scout (not sure of the year, territory, or what our Civil War canon is, so I'll leave it vague; it's also possible that he knows Sir Gavvin's PC). He liked it well enough when he was on his own and was good at it- he knows how to move quietly, is good with horses, and doesn't mind being out on the prairie on his own. But the rest of the army life wasn't for him.

He tried his hand at working a ranch- a natural fit, given his talent with horses and other animals and his comfort with working on his own- but a drought put paid to that. He worked for a time as a stable hand in town, but the man who'd hired him on ultimately couldn't afford to keep three hands and Gabe was the last one to get hired so he was the first to get fired. After that he wandered a bit, getting by as best he could with no steady job until a Marshal came by the farm he was working at looking for volunteers for a posse to track down a man who'd killed a shopkeeper in the nearby town.

Gabe signed right up and figured out that being a Marshal was a lot like being a cavalry scout, except with nobody looking over his shoulder and telling him what to do, how to dress, when to eat and when to sleep whenever he wasn't out on the trail. After they caught that man, Gabe signed on as a deputy marshal.

A few months ago, Big Haus Jones crushed his Marshal's head in a dark alley one night after he and the Marshal had words on the street earlier in the day. Gabe's been tracking Jones ever since.

Party role:

Gabe's not bad with a rifle or a pistol, and he's not bad with his hands in a fight, but his real skill lies in scouting and handling animals. He's got a horse and a dog he travels with, and between the three of them they can track a hawk's shadow across a rocky badland.

Gabe's in progress sheet is here.

I don't think I'm going to get my character done in time so I'm going to withdraw from consideration. Best of luck, everyone!

What happened? Everyone stopped posting.

Shadow Lodge

I think this is all the applicants we're going to get.

I'll review the submissions over the weekend and have a decision by Monday night.

Cool, I'm excited to see how this plays out.

Giving the thread a poke...

So.... do we have a decision?

Welcome:

Gabriel Armistead
Doran Flynn
Meng Ren Rui

I would like to a post from your character alias in discussion before gameplay starts. Also, all character stats, gear, etc. must be on this alias (not linked to other sites) so that I can easily access all information. Once the game starts, if it's not in your alias page, you don't have it :)

Thanks to everyone else who applied. You did not make this an easy choice :)

Have fun all and thanks for the consideration! I will be following this.
