Welcome To The Jungle!

A death curse has befallen everyone who's been raised from the dead. Its victims are rotting away, and all efforts to reverse the decay have failed. The souls of the dead are being stolen one by one and trapped inside a necromantic artifact called the Soulmonger. It is believed that only its destruction will free the trapped spirits and allow the dead to be raised once more. All paths lead to Chult, a mysterious land of volcanoes, jungles, and the ruins of fallen kingdoms...

Unknown Day, Unknown Year
Weather is humid and very warm, with steady rain
Current time is late afternoon

-------------------------------------------------

The night passes uneventfully once the adventurers get settled, though the strange and exotic noises and rustling of leaves as animals creep near their camp intrude upon their rest from time to time, still the sheer exhaustion of the afternoon's work allows them to sleep through most of the interruptions.

In the morning, as the heat of the day begins to build despite the seemingly incessant rain they are forced to endure as they travel, their lack of drinking water begins to make itself known as they rely upon Lerev's spells to supply them with fresh water - though the cleric's magic cannot sustain them much beyond early afternoon as the high humidity and temperatures force them to drink often throughout the day.

Travel along the river has its own problems as well, making their pace much slower than one might expect. Previous flooding along the river causes frequent barricades of trees that must be circumnavigated, and other natural obstacles occur in the strange, jungle environment that makes a fifteen-mile trek last the entire day.

Dehydration Checks:

Violet's CON Save DRR: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20 vs DC 15 = Success!
Ianovar's CON Save DRR: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19 vs DC 15 = Success!
Ørlygr's CON Save DRR: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15 vs DC 15 = Success!
Lerev's CON Save DRR: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22 vs DC 15 = Success!
Ivor's CON Save DRR: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14 vs DC 15 = Failure!

Only Ivor shows signs of exhaustion by the time the sun is beginning to drop toward the horizon, already hidden beyond the jungle trees that rise up above them to the west. However, their journey has now taken them to a wide beach that looks out over a vast bay, beyond which can be seen the ocean itself. The port city that seemed so distant yesterday is much closer now, and tomorrow's journey promises to be faster than this day's, with a marked lack of obstacles that made their river expedition so grueling and slow. The party estimates they can likely cover the final fifteen miles or so by early afternoon, if they start with the sunrise.

Only Ivor failed the CON check (you all rolled really friggin' well!) and he has the Exhausted [Level 1] condition, which basically gives you disadvantage on any ability checks until you get adequate rest. Let me know of any precautions you plan to take tonight, and next post will have you at the port city. Unless something interrupts those plans, of course...

Init: +3 | AC: 13 | Passive Perception: 13; Darkvision | STR Save: +0; DEX Save: +3; CON Save: +1; INT Save: +5; WIS Save: +3; CHA Save: -1 | Favored Attack: Dagger +3 ranged\melee / 1d4+3 bludgeoning damage / 20'\60' range | Spell Attack: +5 | Spell Save DC: 13

Since Ivor succumbed to dehydration/exhaustion he would need the full night of sleep. Ianovar didn't need the sleep that some of the lesser races needed so he volunteers for the watch hours during the darkest hours of night.

OOC: Elves only need 4 hours of trance/meditation and have dark-vision.

Init: +3 | AC: 14 | Passive Perception: 14; Darkvision | STR Save: +0; DEX Save: +5; CON Save: +1; INT Save: +3; WIS Save: +2; CHA Save: +2 Advantage on saves vs charm; immune to sleep] | Favored Attack: Rapier +5 melee / 1d8+3 piercing damage [+1d6 sneak attack damage when ally within 5' of target or advantage on attack roll]

We would take same precautions we have been taking all along. If i am understanding correctly, we are close to a shore line.. is there drift wood for a fire, and are there palm trees which may have coconuts that have fallen?.. that would provide fluid for hydration and meat of the coconut to eat.

Violet would take any watch assigned to her.

Though I am very excited about this game, I am going to put this adventure on hiatus. With only two (and maybe three at best) active players, it just isn't going to work. If Azal and/or GM 'bum join us in the near future to give us at least four active players, I will pick up the adventure again and send you all a PM from the d20 board to notify you.
