I suspect that a lot of preparations would be worked over in character. This kind of expedition isn't taken lightly. At least.. not by dwarves with a bit of common sense knockin around in their skulls.

Yeah, but with us low-wisdom fighters, common sense isn't a guaranteed commodity ;).

You raise a good point, lol. God help us. >_>;

We're doomed! The wise one has taken a vow of silence!

Shh, you still have one voice of reason in the bunch.

Edit: stupid posting from phone.

Donagh raises his hand: Pick me! pick me!

Or was that unreasonable?

Snedin fighters to do a rangers job. Good way ta starve ta death.

So the team battle cry maybe "<Name of Low Wisdom Martial type>, wait!" :)

Alright, time's up. Lets do this. Leeeeeerrooooooooooooooooooooooy Jenkiiins!

... oh my god he just ran in.

Oh jesus. Stick to the plan.
Oh jesus.

Stick to the plan chums! Stick to the plan.

It's okay, the druid that actually took survival and will know what mushrooms are edible has "Int 14, Wis 18, Cha 17" and doesn't mind telling people not to dumb things :)

tss, Int 14. You know nothing!

Donagh has Int 20, Wis 17 and Cha 18 and knows nothing about wildlife. Luckily he can purify food and can also determine what is poisonous.

Let the throwing of mud commence!

Vote for my character because she's...nice?

mmmm... odds are not in my favor here

:)

Oh now we're voting, then? ha ha!

If that's the case Magabeus, then hopefully we'll end up with the same amount of fools as thinkers, eh?

He Ridge, man up! Ulkra is a sound character with a good backstory.

I would be very disappointed if the GM decides who can join the campaign on the basis of the ability scores rolled.

Edit:

Pokeapache:
I prefer all fools and only one thinker: me. That way I almost start with Leadership. Or would that be the Drow campaign?

There's a lot of stiff competition, lol. Maga, you wouldn't happen to want to be the only thinker so that you find yourself as.. maybe.. the king. Would you? o.o

Let the conspiracies commence! :D

And since we're on the subject.. Korvek might not be the smartest bulb in the shed, but he knows how to knock down a door and hit things pretty hard. :D I also intend for him to be a terrifying force to behold. :3

Haha, well I don't think Dwarves do very well with being bossed around :P Like trying to lead around six other really stupid donkeys. I'd much rather have 6 smart donkeys, that way even if they are being stubborn at least they're less likely to get themselves killed. (And smarter dwarves might actually get reason over pride, and I think fighting against pride in order to survive is going to happen at least once in this campaign.)

Worst part is they're all family. And you know at least one took "heir of dammerhall"

"I'm the bloody king and I get to say where we go!"

"Like hell you're th king! I'm older!"

"I have the crown!"

"No you don't!"

And then the giant talking spiders descend.

The LoTR movies did dwarves a disservice by making Gimli the comic relief. I see them as way more loyal and tough minded, they would follow their king....hell they followed Thorin Oakenshield didn't they?

I think that might even be a character flaw for some dwarves...blind obedience.

Oh my god I KNOW. That's the one thing about those movies that irked me. I can appreciate that he was still a great fighter, but nobody ever took him seriously. :/

Joking around mostly :) And thanks.

I don't envy our GM having to pick between all these selections though.

Hmm.. yeah I certainly suspect having to pick the group will be difficult. There are methods, though. In his/her shoes, I might narrow down the options by maybe half, then PM those who made the cut and request a sample post. Then again there are so many things to consider. Party viability/balance, background, quality/frequency of activity, and of course the ability to produce a genuinely interesting character. Nobody wants to run a party full of faceless meatbags. Except maybe a necromancer. >_>

I would like to ask if it is possible for Dain to start with Dwarven and Undercommon then, instead of usual Dwarven+Common combo?

Yes, that works well given your background.

If choosing is too difficult then let the dice decide.

Rolling for everyone who has a link in my list of applicants, skipping those that have resigned or are already chosen gives:

1d21 ⇒ 18 -> Bromen Vrektel The Spellbane - Fighter (Twohanded)
1d20 ⇒ 4 -> Mirrin of the Deep - Ranger
1d19 ⇒ 14 -> Dain Harladorn - Inquisitor
1d18 ⇒ 11 -> Donagh - Cleric (Forgemaster)
1d17 ⇒ 10 -> Caesk Bristlebeard - Fighter (Brawler)
1d16 ⇒ 3 -> Garnult Tharnhammer son of Thorkil - Paladin
1d15 ⇒ 11 -> Brundig Loreaxe Fighter (Lorewarden)

Missing an arcane caster, just like old school (A)D&D. Just joking of course

Wow, that party would be really heavy on the melee and light on....everything else. Kinda like a dwarven party would be like in my mind.

After pouring, sifting, shredding, pouring, sifting, taking a break, coming back sifting some more, changing my mind ... . This was not an easy task. We had enough excellent applications to run two or three campaigns. Unfortunately, I'm only going to be able to run one, so that means disappointing a lot of good people, not something I'm fond of doing. There were some characters it was very hard to drop off the list, with only very marginal things swinging me one way or another.

So, if you submitted a character and were not selected, I'd like to take the time to say thank you and apologize for any disappointment or frustration you may feel regarding the process. I appreciate all the interest shown and hope that you all get an opportunity to play the campaign in the future.

Without further ado, the following is our party for this campaign (Congratulations!):

BigOM: Grunyar, Rogue

Magabeus: Donagh, Cleric(Forgemaster) of Bryggya

Mihajlo Velickovic: Dain Harladorn, Inquisitor of Bryggya

minoritarian: Elmador Tarnhammer, Wizard (Earth)

Nilesr: Garnult Tarnhammer, son of Throkil, Paladin of Bryggya

Pokeapache: Wrekhlaem "Wrex" Quartzhaul, Druid (Cave Druid)

TarkXT: Mirrin of the Deep, Ranger(Deep Walker)

I will be working tonight and through the weekend, so while I will begin posting some more information in the Bungalow, It may be Monday before we get things off to a proper start. This also gives us time to discuss any additional preparations, family trees, and the like over the weekend.

Noooooooooooooooooooo (etc)

Wait, a full dwarf party without a single fighter? How peculiar. o.0

Thanks for the consideration, hope the campaign goes well. ^_^

Congratulations to those that made it!

As for the rest of us, this is looking to be a pretty cool adventure path and I'm sure we'll see it on the recruitment boards again :)

Thanks for choosing Garnult for the campaign, looking forward to it. Ridge and others, I'm going to play in this one and if its as awesome as I think its gonna be I'll probably end up buying the pdfs and running it PBP myself.

Scarab Sages

Yay! As I'm in the UK I wasn't expecting news until this later today with the time difference. Really happy. I'm looking forward to it a lot.

Congratulations to all who were selected. I know that it had to be a tough decision for reckless looking at all the quality apps that I saw. If you ever need a replacement front liner to take of the cause of taking back Dammerhall and preserving the dwarven culture and history, let ol' Brundig Loreaxe know ;).

Thanks for selecting me, I just hope we can live up to the expectations raised!

As has been foretold both in dice, prophecy, and GM Mirrin's destiny is to serve his people or die trying.

Thanks for taking me. :)

Congrats to all who got selected!
