Round 1: Darl
Darl pulls down the cowl of his hood to reveal that in his left eye socket now rests the Eye of Vecna! "Aaargh, damn dwarf, you killed m genie. That was a setback but you have left your allies completely vulnerable in the back and I know of a lovely surprise for them."
He first casts a Quickened Dispel Magic on Valgrim targeting his Death Ward protection.
Dispel Magic: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (19) + 20 = 39 vs. DC of 32..spell gone! The Hand and Eye of Vecna both glow as Darl casts more clerical magic, this time opening a gigantic portal next to Friar, as an immense almost beyond belief, sleek, midnight-black shark appears! You remember this undead monster well having encountered it previously in your quest for Dragotha's lair. And as you may remember, you fled from it!

The Nightwave first casts a Quickened Cone of Cold on Alie, Bub, and Friar: Damage: 15d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 4, 2, 2, 5, 1, 1, 5, 5, 3, 5, 4, 5, 4) = 54...DC 22 Reflex save for no damage as you all have evasion.
Then it bites down on Friar using Greater Vital Strike: 1d20 + 28 ⇒ (12) + 28 = 40

Round 1: Horned Devil and the Tiefling Monk

The horned devil oddly leaves Valgrim alone, who is within reach of his spiked chain, and instead charges at Bublaka and lashes out at the bard!

The tiefling monk focuses his energies and spring attacks Valgrim, but misses and returns to his spot in front of Darl!

Second, for Valgrim's question, Bublaka's inspire courage bonus to saves applies to all saves now and is currently a +6 thanks to a mythic ability whose name escapes me. If the normal inspire courage would grant you the bonus, Valgrim, this should as well. Glad to see you didn't really need it to succeed on your check.

Eyes flashing, the bard focuses on the dazed devil and says to no one in particular, "I think this one qualifies." With a snap of the fingers of his right hand, a massive sword so black that it seems to absorb the light appears and he prepares to attack the creature, but Valgrim's request get his attention. The Devil's AC is 35 so total damage to Horned Devil: 43+32+22+17= 114 and one negative level and Bub gets 1d6 ⇒ 3 temporary hit points.
The monk's AC is 52 with his point of ki used this round so two hits from Valgrim and one critical for 100+52=152 damage.
Both enemies are still up, the monk looking more severely damaged than the devil.

Friar's electricity is resisted by Darl, though he does seem injured by it. The monk, on the other hand, was severely wounded, and he just collapses, smoke emanating from his eyes. Darl is alone now, but he does not seem concerned.

As the next round starts, a beam of greenish-light shoots from the heavens, illuminating the NW section of the roof in a 25x25 area, and you can see the form of Kyuss start to emerge on the plane. In the party's minds, you hear Manzorian's voice, "It has begun....good luck, the fate of millions is in your hands!"

As a free action, Bublaka restores the greatsword into its extraplanar storage. Calling upon the mythic power that the party had been invested with, he moves with unnatural swiftness toward the priest of Vecna as he readies his almost-forgotten whip of fury. Moving like a living thing, the whip reaches out to tangle around the cleric's legs and tries to bring him crashing to the ground.

Spending a mythic point to use amazing initiative for an extra action, then moving within whip range of Darl and delaying the trip attempt until Valgrim is within melee range. Greater Trip means that if I succeed, Darl provokes and attack of opportunity from Valgrim.

CMB, Greater Trip, +3 Weapon: 1d20 + 23 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 23 + 4 + 3 = 34

Well, those are some disappointing rolls, all around.


Although the dispel check only relieved the cleric of one spell, the trip is sufficient and down goes Darl, granting Valgrim an AoO!

Ya, Darl is dead! Revenge tour continues!
Most likely, Kyuss will have Epic/DR and not be undead, so Valgrim's +2 weapon is not enough and he is looking to Bubba to see if he can identify the efreeti's sword to see if it qualifies, since the monk used his fists and the devil's spiked chain won't help. Other than that, Valgrim will position himself adjacent to where the green light is bathing the roof so he can full-attack when it is time.

If he is undead, use your falchion. If he's not, Bublaka can give you Blackrazor. I will happily provide a scroll of mass heal to our resident cleric if he wants to top us off. Spellcraft of 30 is exactly what the half-orc bard needed!
Though he died before using it, the Efreeti's weapon is a Large +5 Flaming Burst Falchion! As the enhancement bonus is +6 or higher, it is indeed an epic weapon for DR purposes. However, it does not shrink to fit the user's size so Valgrim must enlarge himself or have someone enlarge him in order to use it without penalty. Any other buffs or preparations or do we jump to the action?
