Modern gear:
I would sure like to take a modern rifle vs an old-world musket - just chose that because it was in line with the gunslinger class. So as not to overpower the game, maybe Brock can start with a 9mm and a couple spare clips (3 total) and a hundred rounds? That would be 10 rounds per clip in a semi-automatic pistol. For the gunsmithing feat, he could refill the brass cartridges with new black powder and bullets that he would have to craft. I still think he'll keep the tech feat to allow him a better chance to interact with any tech stuff they may find. Is there someplace online (like D20 Modern SRD) where you are getting modern weapons and gear? Again, I don't want to overpower the game =)

Given the setting, I don't think that having a gun would particularly upset balance. I would just be wary that the sounds of gunfire could attract all kinds of unwanted visitors. Hardish would likely keep his distance from those boom-sticks.

The Exchange

I've finished the PC but after a bit of thought, as much as I'd like to play, I'll have to bow out. I cannot commit to play with the time I have.

Thank you for the consideration.

EldonG, yes use Elite for your sister.

Liberty's Edge

Ok, here are her basic stats...I'll fill out the rest soon.

Str 10, Dex 16, Con 10, Int 14, Wis 8, Cha 15

There is an archetype I'm considering that'd make her a great friend of soft, furry things. :)

Maldor, trust me when I say this your starting weapons will not overpower the game. You can start with a modern rifle as well as the 9mm, though you have run out of ammo for the rifle and creating ammo for it has not gone well so far. Now resorting to your sidearm you look to scavenge or make another gun in case the ammo creation does not work for your sidearm. As it has been said before loud noises draws the undead's attention. Both guns will total 900 gp of your wealth.

EldonG, go for the archetype if you want.

I will be going over characters and deciding who has survived this new world.

Got it - thanks! Adjusted gear to cover costs (gunslingers start with a pistol or musket for free - but this is worth it =) He also carries a Morningstar for the normal stuff and holds his 9mm back for the truly needed times.

Hello! Second to post, last to post >_>
I got sick so that threw everything back for a while.
Anyways, my submission!
I have a few ideas that i got to decide upon... (first two were mirrored almost exactly by WreakNball :( but he says hes dropping out, so i dont think im stepping on toes.)
#1: A goblin from Golarion. He is a Roof Runner Rogue:
Roll with it feat, bouncy trait, cave climber and tree runner racial traits.
The basic idea is that he is a very bouncy goblin. You hit him, he bounces! He falls, he bounces! Timmy stuck in the well? He bounces down to save him!
He also climbs really well. He is able to get up and over things, attach ropes, scout and sentry duty.
#2: a variant of #1, except human. He is a young, energetic teen. Always climbing, bounding, tresspassing and getting into all sorts of trouble.
Think of The Scout from Team Fortress XD
Build is very similar to above with the addition of the Racial Heritage: Goblin (stupid feat tax :(
#3: rebuilding Smaug, Prophet of the DRAGON! a modern day human who predicted the ruination of the world but believes it was caused by dragons. Before the world went to heck, he was just a crazy old coot, after the cataclysm he is a crazy old coot who thinks hes right... With one main difference. His nightmare dragon has creeped through the veil from Golarion, and it is growing...
Human Summoner (vanilla), has a high con score and the toughness feat, he is tough as old boots...
He will have a strong focus in deplomacy and intimidate as he tries to spread the word about how the apocolypse signals the coming of the dragons.

His Eidolon would only be out part of the time, but when he is out he will be a brooding red wyrmling (cant fly yet).
He will be built up to resemble a dragon as much as possible, fire resistance, scaly hide, skill focus: intimidation, ect.

Out of curiosities sake, why superman stats in a gritty, survival game?
5d6x7 +max hps an average human, it does not make.

Hey all, I've given it a few days (partially intentional and partially due to things beyond my control) but I'm just not really feeling my character concept and haven't had any better ideas come to me. In the interest of not holding things up, I'm going to withdraw but I may very well lurk to see how the game goes. Good luck to the survivors and their friends, sounds like you'll need it ;)

Ah yes, i forgot dice rolls!

:

5d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 6, 1, 6) = 19
5d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 5, 4, 3) = 22
5d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 5, 3, 5) = 19
5d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 6, 1, 4) = 19
5d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 6, 4, 5) = 24
5d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 6, 2, 4) = 22

There must be a reason besides luck that allows you to survive.

Gobo, I am going to require you to pick one of the character ideas.

Sorry to see you withdraw Lady Ladile, if we have an opening I may call upon you later.

I am sorry but I could not accept you all, if we have any drop outs I will be contacting you to see if you are still interested. Thank you all for applying and I hope you the best with all your gaming.

Initial starting group:
Daniel Cedric
Hardish Swift
GM & rew: Brock
Void Dragon: Lucas Frigidum
EldonG: SAVARIC FEVERSHAM

Are any of you traveling with the others? I don't think so but wanted to double check before moving forward.

Once I have the gameplay thread up, go ahead and start describing how you are moving. There is a road and forest surrounding it. All of you will be heading roughly West towards Sandpoint.

The last person to post:

You are farthest from Sandpoint and are being hunted down by cultists with their undead minions, too many for you by far.

Dark Archive

Well I guess I'm a bit late huh? I actually have one of these campaigns (Not exact) that I put up a couple days before this one. You can find it here

As for another 'follower', I have an idea - just came to me. He helped a falcon heal when he found it with a broken wing, and it seems to like him. He likes to feed it a little, and he watches it when it flies ahead - it doesn't like undead any more than any other natural animal does, and it wheels sharply away when it spots some.

It's an early warning system for Savaric.

Oh...I have an avatar, and I'll have the profile set up tonight.

Reporting for hunting.

how proactive must the followers be? I could simply use a raven that speaks and possibly some form of Archon sent to "guide my way". Is that good?

also- I should totally be the one being hunted ;)

Sounds good Savaric, the falcon is a good choice.

Lucas feel free to join the gameplay when you choose.

Daniel if you want to be hunted go ahead and roleplay it that way. Nonetheless the last person will be hunted as well. Perhaps you run into each other as the cultists are after you both.

Gaack! Goblins ate my post last night!!! I had two ideas for a second follower I was asking about...but now I have to run off to work =\ I'll just pick one and write it up later...

Am I good to post?

That works Maldor... I hate the internet goblins too!

Daniel you are good to go. Everyone is good to go.

Here's Ryada. I went with a mule for pack - horses just cost too much...so there's a mule behind us that Savaric brings up once it's safe.

SPECIAL ABILITIES
Animal Friend
Armored Casting (Ex) You can cast bard spells while wearing light armor and use a shield without incurring the normal arcane spell failure chance.
Bardic Knowledge (Ex) You add +1 to all Knowledge checks and may make all Knowledge skill checks untrained.
Bardic Performance You are trained to use the Perform skill to create magical effects on those around you, including yourself if desired.
Cantrips You have learned a number of cantrips, or 0-level spells. These spells are cast like any other spells, but they do not consume any slots and may be used again.
Countersong (Su) You can counter magic effects that depend on sound (but not spells that have verbal components).
Distraction (Su) You can use your performance to counter magic effects that depend on sight.
Elven Immunities (Ex) Elves are immune to magic sleep effects and get a +2 racial saving throw bonus against enchantment spells and effects.
Inspire Courage (Su) You can use your performance to inspire courage in your allies (including yourself), bolstering them against fear and improving their combat abilities.
Keen Senses (Ex) Elves receive a +2 bonus on Perception skill checks.
Low-Light Vision (Ex) You can see x2 as far as humans in low illumination. Characters with low-light vision have eyes that are so sensitive to light that they can see twice as far as normal in dim light. Low-Light Vision is color vision. A spellcaster with low-light vision can read a scroll as long as even the tiniest candle flame is next to her as a source of light. Characters with low-light vision can see outdoors on a moonlit night as well as they can during the day.
Weapon and Armor Proficiency A bard is proficient with all simple weapons, plus the longsword, rapier, sap, short sword, shortbow, and whip. Bards are proficient with light armor and shields (except tower shields). A bard can cast bard spells while wearing light armor without incurring the normal arcane spell failure chance. However, like any other arcane spellcaster, a bard wearing medium or heavy armor or using a shield incurs a chance of arcane spell failure if the spell in question has a somatic component (most do). A multiclass bard still incurs the normal arcane spell failure chance for arcane spells received from other classes.
Weapon Familiarity (Ex) Elves are proficient with longbows (including composite longbows), longswords, rapiers, and shortbows (including composite shortbows), and treat any weapon with the word "elven" in its name as a martial weapon.
Woodcraft (Ex) Elves know the deep secrets of the wild like no others, especially those of the forests. Elves with this racial trait gain a +1 bonus on Knowledge (nature) and Survival checks. In forest terrain, these bonuses improve to +2.

I'll update Savaric soon. Sorry, I've been very busy, and this computer is a putz...but it beats the phone.

Yeah I know what you mean, the phone can get tedious. Well keep working on it when you can, right now is the time to get things figured out and adjusted. Gear though should not change anymore.

Those of you who wish to still join this game, I will need a finished crunch and character before I consider you for a replacement or just to jump you into the game, please finish them when you can.

Are you still recruiting? Judging by this post I figured you had your team picked out, that's why I stopped showing interest :s

If you are still looking, I am getting Smaug written up :)
Either that or Buzzgob the acrobat :)

But I AM the internet goblins >:D

Problem is, words arnt very tasty. Or filling. NEED MOAR WORDS!
Muhahahaha!!!

Nooooooooooooooo! You can't be the internet goblins otherwise I would have to hunt you down! LOL

Words also steal your soul, Gobo!

I am still recruiting, I merely picked out the first wave. There are always dropouts for either RL issues, time constraints, or like what just happened a player not working out with the flow of the game.

Dark Archive

I have the basic idea down. African American Gangster. Aspiring Rapper. He saw his first walker while in a recording studio. He stabbed it in the with a knife before fleeing, after that survival was the only thing on his mind.

That is a start, but you got a long way. Keep working on it.

Dark Archive

As I said it was basic.

Words steal your soul if you READ them!
But if you EAT them, you steal it back >:D

And run away from the Hungry Hunter Wolf >.>

Goblin Arcanist with Consume Magic items who has a thing for eating scrolls? ;)

Ok. Here is the fluff for Smaug, Prophet of the DRAGON and his dragon Eidolon, Nico Bolas.
Still working on the crunch and i havnt made any followers yet (one is going to be a salamander), but i want to get this up now.
Oh ya, this is Gobo Horde. Defently making some arcanist internet goblins sometime >:D

Fluff:

Name
Smaug, Prophet of the DRAGON
Class
Human Summoner 1/ Thug Rogue 1
Personality

Physical Description
Smaug is an older gent, well into his fifties. He has greying black hair, or "Salt and Pepper" hair that is unkempt and uncut for a while resulting in a wild and rugged looking face. His blue eyes are intense, with a clear focus that stabs out and pierces the existance he sees before him. The rest of him is a withered old man who hasnt had a propper meal in far too long. Lean and gaunt.

Nico Bolas, a young red wyrmling crouched forward on all fours, with a long neck and slender tail flickering to and fro. His scales are a deep red, crevised with soot black. Along his ridged and bony back sit two wings, while at the tip of the lizard rests the mighty head of the Red Dragon. Ridged and serpentlike, with deep, dark eyes almost tinged with evil and malice, while a fearsome maw driping fire embers and spewing black smoke tops out the fearsome presence of the mighty red wyrmling.
While Nico Bolas is too young for his wings to hold him aloft or his flames to scorch stone, he is aging rapidly... Soon...

History and Backstory

Smaug had 2 main phases in his life, essentially before he went crazy and after he went crazy. Pre-catalyst he was just your average working man, there was very little outstanding about him and he never really applied himself to the things he did. As a result he worked as a salaryman at a local office firm, but never made it into management. He had a girlfriend, but they never got married. He had a nice car, but it always needed repairs and was usually parked.
Then one day while he was out driving his snazzy car, he got sidelined. A car accident. A BAD one. He was put in the hosptial and suffered brain damage, and as a result, scitzophrinia. His life was changed quite derastically ever after as voices wispered to him in his head. Wispered warnings of doom and prophicies of a time of dragons. A time where one dragon will rule over the others and bring about the apocolypse, the end of times.
Yet more than 10 years had passed while he raved and ranted and was ignored. Dragons? Who would believe such nonsense! It was as absurd as the dead rising!
Smaug was ignored and rejected as simply a crazy old man...

Yet the worlds merged. Sightings of goblins and orcs and monsters to fantastical to believe! Slowly, a few started to listen to him. Just a few. When the first dragon was spotted flying above the city, many believed.

Then the zombie plague hit. Once again, humans and their short memories, regarded Smaug as a crazy old man. He was wrong! It is not the dragons who will bring about the end, its the dead! And they have already brought it!
They would proclaim. Now, Smaug travels where he can, preaching his word with firey sermon.

Once the merging had happened, the voices in Smaugs head begun to take on a very real essence. They got louder and more presistant, slowly revealing themself to be the voice of Nico Bolas. Then, in a dream, Nico Bolas came to Smaug, telling him he would assist him on his journey, intertwining their fates together.
When Smaug awoke, he found out that his dream had been made manifest, a red dragon wyrmling lay sleeping at his feet, warm and real.

Nico Bolas has a different story. A celestial dragon bound to the outer planes, he longed to be manifest on the material plane, but more then just exist there, he wanted to rule. However, no one knew him. No one believed, feared or reviered him. He could not grow nor exist nor rule without the belief of the people. Preplexed, Nico Bolas was stuck.

Searching, Nico Bolas found Smaug, his mind broken like his body from the crash. There he began wispering to him, telling him of power and prophicies. Prophicies of himself, of his rise to power and his eventual rulership. And of the world ending at his hand...

When the worlds merged, it gave Nico Bolas the chance he needed. Riding on the curtails of the arcane backlash, Nico Bolas emerged onto the material plane! And not a moment too soon... With the zombie plague came the absolute sundering of the conection to the planes... For better or worse, Nico was stuck here...

Nico Bolas has an interesting existance. He grows exeedingly fast, both forwards in time and backwards. To have the immense power required, he would have to live the lifetime of an ancient dragon, and to achieve that, he grows into history. The older he gets, the further into the past he has existed.

Goals and Reasons for Adventuring
Smaug has resigned himself to a greusome death sometime in the future. He knows he will die either at the hands of the dragons or on the journey to warn others. Now, and for as long as he can, he travels around, warning others and helping out. While most people shun him, a few accept him (although they usually ignore his words), and in doing so they find a kindly soul willing to help out and care for people.

Nico Bolas has a different agenda. He secretly knows that he is the one in the prophesy. That he is the one who will bring about the end times. But in order to do that he needs to grow. And in order to grow he needs others to believe in him, believe he exists, believe that he WILL bring about The End Times. If he can get enough people to believe then it will become reality. And he is growing stronger...

Future Plans
Smaug will continue as a summoner from here on out, picking up extra evolutions when he can and generally focusing on support. He will also try to keep his intimidate as high as possible, as his prophicetic speaches continue to scare the masses :D
Nico Bolas is a more complex case. I will continue to build him like how i envision a dragon to be. Intelegient, flying, bony hide, a fearsome and flaming bite, and intimidating.
Some of the evolutions i am looking at are: Improved Damage (bite), improved armor, Reach (bite), fire resistance, Skilled (lots of knoeledges), Int Increase, Energy Attacks (fire), Flight, Fire Immunity, Frightful Presense, See in Darkness, Swallow Whole, Fire Breath Weapon,Large.
I wont be able to take all of these, but this is the pool ill be drawing from.

Greatest Fear
Smaugs sole mission is to spread the word about the end times brought about by the dragons, and the ruler of the dragons. A red-black behemoth as fierce as the gods and as powerful as death itself. He will ahniliate the world and burn it to nothing.
As such his greatest fear is when (not if) this will happen, and it will happen...

Uncrossable Line
Smaug will not renge on his belief, or his "religion" if you want to think about it that way. His belief in this end times is absolute and the recent catastrophies are simply proof of it.

Notable Traits, Drawbacks and Feats
1 Lvl of Rogue: I honestly wanted to stay pure summoner, but this has a few key things that I lack. Social skills as class skills (so i dont have to burn traits here :S), lots of skill points (instead of 3...) and the icing on the cake, the frightning thug means that i have an even more potent sermon, making people run when i am yelling at them The Dragons! Fear the Dragons! They are coming! They will devour us all!!!

Toughness. Smaug is tough as old boots XD He gas been known to traverse inhospitibal terrain in his quest to warn others.

And here is Nico, Smaugs eidolon :)

Abasara and Smaug why don't you talk amongst yourselves and make some kind of connection or reason for traveling together.

If that doesn't work just let me know.

Shadow Lodge

@Smaug

A Chance Meeting for Abasara and Smaug.:

On a chance excursion into the forest you spot two young girls and an older man, all human. All three are building a makeshift shelter in the trees with a heavy fishing net and some iron pitons, part hammock - part treehouse.

Of the three, a lithe blonde girl with half her head shaven who can be no more than 20 catches sight of you. She looks startled! Words of magic come to her reflexively and shadow-stuff begins to form around her right hand into...

"Wait Abasara!" the other girl says quickly. She appears younger than the one who noticed you - younger as well with dirty blonde hair falling to her waist. "I think they're friendly, at least...they look it? Khonnir? Where did dad go?!" she spins in a panic, looking for the older man who she spots quickly. He's quivering with fear behind a nearby tree.

Sounds good :)
I am going to try and get crunch finished up tonight.
Need:
Followers (one is a salamander)
Campaign trait...

Abasera:

An older man, probably in his 50s, lean, gaunt and raggedy. He has the look of a man who has been out in the wild for far too long and an almost crazy look in his eyes. Not the dangerous crazy, rather the look of someone who has seen things that cannot be explained.
Then again, there is a zombie apocolypse going on...
The other thing of note, a giant salamander adorns his shoulders like a massive red cowl draping across him...
"Lo!" he calls to you guys
"I mean no harm! Ive been traveling from that city from over yonder mountian and could use some company, and a warm meal, if you would be willing to spare and share with an old prophet."
He keeps at a polite distance, waiting to be invited in rather than intruding in these harsh and often unpredictable times.
"well. Human company anyway."

Shadow Lodge

@Smaug:

"'Ello there friend, you startled us, tis all!" the blonde girl with the half-shaven head says from her lofty perch in the trees.

An assemblage of what appears to be heavy fishing net has been pinned to a cluster of tall oaks with heavy iron spikes, essentially making a 25ft by 25ft hammock-like shelter up amongst the leaves. An older man, about your age comes out from behind one of the trees from the ground level and puts his arms instinctively around the shoulders of the younger girl with long hair. From the trees net-fort, the blonde girl calls down to her companions again while she lowers a knotted rope.

"It's alright Val, Khonnir...he seems ok. Climb up you two, it's getting dark. You're welcome to join us, climb on up. Name's Abasara by the way, the young little vixen down there is Val and that fella there, that's the legendary Khonnir Baine. Come eat with us you look weary from the road."

Keep it up you two, maybe you will attract others, you never know...

Abasara I will have you keep control of Val unless you want me to NPC her. I will determine when Khonnir ever acts without the trauma.

It is up to you if you want to spoiler the interactions or not. Smaug, did you want me to create the other follower?

There. Smaugs crunch is esentially done minus spells and equipment.
A few quick things to note.
1: i gave him a rank in the Drive skill, as he used to ride around in his car a lot. Doubt it will be used, but if we need a getaway driver... Im your crazy, old, pedal-to-the-metal man :)
2:

Campaign Trait:

I based this one off of the Finding Haleen trait.
Weary Wanderer: After spending countless days, weeks and even months roaming from place to place on your neverending quest, you have grown hardened by the land and picked up a skill or two on your journeys.
Whenever you take a lvl in Summoner, gain +1 hp and +1 skill point.

3: Worth noting. I took the Umbral Unmasking Drawback as my shadow takes on the form of a monsterous dragon (DC 15 Wis to see it). If you want to play up the interactions brought about my monsterious shadow, go ahead :)
4: im going to create a salamander follower, but it would help if you created the other :) im out of ideas... Maybe have him/her/it meet up with us a short bit later

Abasara:

Its no offense ta me! These be dangerous times indeed and one best be careful.
All the same, I'll be comin on up an joinin ya! Tha chance ta get off me feet and put any kind o meal in me belly would be much appreciated!

Smaug helps himself up the rope into the canopy tent/thing and sits himself down comfortably.
Smaug be me name. Ah be a prophet of the times ta come, but right now i am simply a hungery man.
From which world be you folks?

Smaug then pulls out a small, half empty bottle from somewhere behind him My contrabution. You galls be old enough ta drink?
Still figuring out his speech and mannerisms :p

Shadow Lodge

@Gm feel free to control Val, her basic combat profile is: Run, hide, listen to Khonnir and Aba. I'd prefer she not fight a whole lot. She spunky but not stupid, etc.

@Smaug:

Listening to the man and watching him eat ravenously Abasara offers you more food, gladly accepting his booze and drinking, sharing it with the younger girl and the older fellow you've been introduced to as 'Val' and 'Khonnir'.

"We're from Numeria, Golarion natives. Are you familiar with Numeria? Where abouts do you hail from?" Abasara asks, while absentmindedly playing with a silver holy symbol hanging by a chain on her neck.

From the sleeves of her tunic a small black scorpion skitters out and perches on the back of her hand, seeming to observe the going's-on. She breaks a strip of jerky off with her teeth, setting it before the scorpion. He grasps it with his claws and skitters away back into the folds of her sleeve, content with it's dinner.

Weary Wanderer: After spending countless days, weeks and even months roaming from place to place on your neverending quest, you have grown hardened by the land and picked up a skill or two on your journeys.
You gain a bonus skill modifier to survival and gain survival as a class skill. Possible addition: +1 hit point.

You can't make a trait that is only for you! Above would be more likely to be accepted but I may adjust all the campaign traits to have something more. Suggestions?

Tree group:

About an hour after Smaug sits down to eat with the trio another man seems to be walking with a red and white guiding stick. He seems to be in modern clothes if not several layers of them. At the sounds of talking he shouts out, "Hello, anyone there?"

Shadow Lodge

tree group:

Abasara peers down to the forest floor below from her lofty perch. If the traveler looks at least as safe as Smaug she's whistle sharply once he's beneath the makeshift shelter in the trees.

"'Lo there, are you alone?" she looks at the others in the tree, giving them a be ready look. She shakes the knotted rope a bit to get the traveler's attention - if he looks interested in taking shelter in the canopy above she will lower it, calling to mind words of magic to call forth her weapon or choice should the person prove a threat.

Readied Action: cast Shadow Weapon:Monowhip if Abasara feels threatened in any way.

Shadow Lodge

@GM:

A slight derivation on Smaug's suggested trait;
Weary Wandeer: After spending countless days, weeks and even months roaming from place to place on your neverending quest, you have grown hardened by the land and picked up a knack for surviving against all odds.
Survival becomes a Class Skill, +1 trait bonus. Once per level you may elect to gain one less Skill Point and instead gain 1 more Hit Point.

Whatcha think?

Tree group:
The man below does not appear to have any weapons, but that does not mean he is not armed, that they are hidden or he has other things he uses as weapons.

Though the man stumbling along slowly shows that he might be even more harmless than Smaug. "I am alone, are you aa... above? I might have some trouble climbing even a rope ladder what do you want me to climb? Ah a knotted rope... can I hear the voices of the four of you to alleviate my worrisome mind." he says rather nervously and even more doubtful when he recognizes the climbing instrument.

Weary Wanderer: After spending countless days, weeks and even months roaming from place to place on your neverending quest, you have grown hardened by the land and picked up a knack for surviving against all odds.
Survival becomes a Class Skill, +1 trait bonus. Once per level you may elect to gain one less Skill Point and instead gain 1 more Hit Point.
Yeah I could go with this does this work for Smaug?

Shadow Lodge

tree group:

"Are you injured sir? Have you been bitten or scratched? Speak true - I read lies like other folk read books." Abasara asks suspiciously. She mutters words of Arcane Light, illuminating the knotted rope in order to get a better look. She knew what happened to those who took serious injury from a Shambler.

Perception take 20 with Light on the rope: 20 + 11 = 31

tree group:

The man is grasping at the rope as if he still can't see it, then you notice his eyes, two white scars cross over his forehead down over each eye and end near his chin. He is blind, the white orbs that he now calls eyes don't seem to move at all as he attempts to gauge how far the knots are before he climbs up.

"Injured, you could call it that, I still don't know if it was a scratch, weapon, or teeth that raped me of my life. I am not undead if that is what you mean, though sometimes I wish I were to not feel the searing pain. Perhaps I should just move on. Good luck to you may you not have my luck."
