Perception:

Using Sense Surroundings (swift action) and Perception to try to locate the sniper - Sense Surroundings (DC 15) allows me to ignore cover and concealment, DC 20 allows me to ignore total cover.

Use the Force: Sense Surroundings: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (18) + 15 = 33
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (16) + 11 = 27

And then ....
Swift Action
Use the Force: Activate Surge: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (17) + 15 = 32: +30 to Jump, +6 squares movement. (Though how it goes in the book, 32 would make it a +50 to Jump and +10 squares movement. ;)

Move Action: 12 squares towards the skiff.

Be ready to Deflect (especially if I spotted the sniper) and use a Force Point if necessary. If there is one to Deflect, it's going to get Redirected into the guy trying to steal our transport.

Use the Force: Deflect: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (20) + 15 = 35
Force Point: Highest Only: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 1) = 6

Total is 40. (Nat 20, w00t!!)

Redirect: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
Probably won't hit the Skiff Guy with the blaster bolt. :P :)

Presuming I still have action after that, use Move Object on the guy on the skiff - just lift him up out of the seat, angling away from it; I intend to keep concentration (standard action) on him if I can. (If I have him. Prisoner time!!)

Use the Force: Move Object: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (3) + 15 = 18: up to Medium size, 2d6 damage.

Must exceed the Will Defense of the feller on the skiff - might, might not ...
====================================================

A sniper ... His eyes looking a little unfocused, Caleb does a swift scan through the doors. The fellow working on getting the skiff going is of course spotted, but if he were a sniper, where ...

"You know," he says conversationally, "subtlety and hiding is all well and good, but when it comes down to it ... a Jedi should be a Jedi. I'll stop the fellow at the skiff." Shifting his pistol to his left hand, he extracts his lightsaber with his right ...

... and with a sudden burst of speed, he charges out the door, his lightsaber activating in a sapphire blue snap-hiss as he goes, ready to swat away any incoming blaster fire.

Scarab Sages

Gunnar will watch and smile to himself at the perfect cover of a man running at people with a lightsaber and he will reach out and hold the speeder where it is...
His mind seeing the rocks.... the speeder.... the jedi running toward it.... the sparse trees.... the force all around him... within him

grab the speeder: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (13) + 17 = 30

"This will not do at all, it is not well."

The droid grabs a canister of harmless smoke and attempts to use it to keep the light sabers from being witnesses by the base....

The counselor will exit the room as well. Still waiting for the results of the roll

The surgery for my daughter went well but took me longer then I expected to get into the swing of things again. Updates tomorrow night. Sorry for the delays.

Quen:
You do not sense other Force users. You would need a separate roll to sense the dark side specifically but as no one out there is a Force user, no Dark Siders either. The second roll found no dark side use as there were no force users.

The PvP thread is now updated, once the adjudication in the PvP thread is complete, I will update here once again. It appears that a few perps are attempting to steal the spice you just delivered to Endregaard!

"Let us begin. Time is of the essence here".

He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a recording device, inserting it into AJTD1, a holograph of a swirling star mass appears.

"This is the Indrexu Spiral. A mass of protomatter, cometary debris, and asteroid fields that snakes through the Tion Cluster. Its presence is a hazard to interstellar shipping, forcing starships to go parsecs out of their way to avoid it. No one has been able to map it accurately, much less find a safe route through it - until recently".

He gestures again and the hologram shifts forming the wide, conical head of a Hutt. An old one by the look of him, with patches of dried gray skin along his broad face. His eyes, however, are alive and alert - he's aware he's being hologrammed.

"This is Popara the Hutt, leader of a powerful financial empire that includes both legitimate and illegal operations. He has information regarding safe passage through the Indrexu Spiral. We do not know whether his own operatives did the scouting or whether the information just happened to fall into his hands. Regardless, his ships are successfully navigating the region where others have been thwarted, to the great advantage of his shipping lines.

I don't have to tell you how valuable this information is. The ability to move material, equipment and men through the Cluster is supremely advantageous to anyone with such knowledge. With this knowledge, we can explore the cluster without Sith interference or interference by their nefarious agents. My plan is to establish a new Temple and begin rebuilding the Order once again. Within a generation we will be able to challenge the Sith once more and hopefully return the galaxy to the hands of the people.

Through an intermediary, I have set...

H-3PO Translates, "The planet of Endregaard in the Tion Cluster is beset by deadly disease and has been quarantined by the Corporate Sector Authority. No one gets on or off the planet without its permission. I have business interests on Endregaard. I want you to deliver a load of medicinal spice to help the people on that planet.

For this, I will provide you with a ship, the spice, and the coordinates to reach Endregaard through the Indrexu Spiral. Are you willing to do this for me".

H-3PO translates, "Excellent. Yes, we shall provide you with vaccinations to ensure you are not infected by the disease. I have a ship available already loaded with medicinal spice for you to deliver to the Corporate Sector Authority. That ship has coordinates which will bring you through the Cluster. Full schematics on the hyperspace mapping will be provided once Mika is returned to me, on Nar Shadda. Go with H-3PO, he will see to it all of your questions are answered. I hope this is the beginning of a long and lucrative set of dealings between us".

H-3PO gives a slight bow to Popara and begins to head out of the audience chamber.

How many players do we have left?

Let's see who checks in. I think we might get Caleb back now that we have pulled out of the PvP mode. If not, I will just DMPC him for now till we get to a point where we can recruit someone to create new characters, in fact, this might be a good point for Gunnar and AJTD1 to create their own characters instead of using someone else's creations, let me know your thoughts guys!

Scarab Sages

I wouldnt even know how to create a viable character in the game and I dont own a rule set. I simply want a character that can contribute to the team and the game and to have fun

What kind of character do you want

Based upon lack of player interest, the Jedi thread will be closed.

THE OOC THREAD FOR EMPIRE IN EXILE AND DARK SIDE THREAD.

Due to some, difficulties, in running this a PvP game, I will now run it as a separate game for each table so neither table will cross paths and the actions of one will not effect the other.

That being said the drag on the Dark Side thread will come to an end as the continuity issue has been resolved via this disconnection.

This is now the OOC thread for both games so we do not clutter the I/C thread with nonsense and I can just make announcements for this game in one place.

I will update both threads tonight, with the election and my work schedule this week I have not had much time to devote to DMing games.

Please note that this is my anniversary weekend so my posting may be limited from tonight through Sunday or possibly Monday.

Cool. Sad to hear that the Jedi are disappearing, and that we'll never get to have our super-awesome Imperial Showdown of Doom, but I fully understand.

Agreed, PvP can be contentious even more so then I believed so I am done with it if for no other reason than I run too many games to get bogged down with one which is having so much strife.

The Jedi are not gone...

So...are you saying that the explosive we wired into that ship we found in the woods near the outpost we initially landed at won't have any effect?

Are you sure it was the Jedi ship and not ours? :P

No idea whose it was, but since the campaigns are now unlinked and the actions of each group won't have an affect on the other, I don't think it makes a huge difference one way or the other.

That was the Jedi ship that you left in tattered ruins :-)

Was it theirs? Lovely. How badly damaged was it?

Cardis Rin wrote:

Probably beyond repair without getting supplies from Tel Bolin and maybe not even then considering the crisis currently taking place.

Well, that's the expected result when you splice a thermal detonator into the engine lines and rig it to explode upon startup, so I'm very pleased it would have been effective - unless they found it and disarmed it ahead of time, of course.

Sorry guys, updates on Sunday or (more likely) Monday night.

Garrett go ahead and assume that the return to your group table is a continuation of the PvP game just with Garrett there now. I'll chime in with the rest of the Jedi when I am able to post again.

Wow. Having caught up on the 3 campaigns is actually quite interesting, because we REALLY went different ways in order to do this. :p

Yeah too bad I could not pull it all together :-(

I've only read the Light Side's so far. Do we all basically have a similar mission?

The adventure offers a group three separate possibilities as to how to proceed. I instead assigned each group one of the three possibilities that I thought meshed with the belief system of that sect. So similar in origin but different in end goal.

How much damage would that have done Cardis? I am curious if the Jedi NPC's remaining would all be dead or just some...

Well, a thermal detonator is 8d6 damage. It would have been rigged to explode when the engines began powering up, causing catastrophic damage to the engine system. The damage dice would likely have bypassed the ship's DR, since it's already inside the hull. If that damage is enough to blow the engines up, then I think it would be reasonable to assume that anyone close to the engines is dead. Maybe the people in the cockpit would survive the explosion, but then they would have to contend with toxic fumes from the engine coolant that's likely been turned into a gaseous form and/or leaking (if they breathe). Regardless, the explosion would likely cause anyone not wearing their crash harness to be bounced around quite a bit, taking some damage. I'm really not sure how much damage an exploding engine would do.

Basically, if you rule the whole ship blows up, I'd say they all die. If only the engine systems blow up, then they have a chance to survive the explosion if they're far enough from the engines. The gasses would likely cause more damage as they tried to escape the ship, and either way the ship doesn't go anywhere without new engines and possibly repairs to the hull - the sort of thing that you really need a space dock for, as opposed to a clearing in the middle of the woods.

Well actually, since I rigged it with the detonator rather than just chucking it in, there are a few more rules on it. My Mechanics check was a 33, which means that the explosive in question ignores damage reduction and deals double damage (I was close to triple, but ah well). That means 16d6 damage going straight to the engine block with nothing to stop it. On average that's 56 damage. I don't know off the top of my head just how much that damages an engine, but it seems like a fair amount.

Hey GM, just as a heads up: The spoiler you put up in our thread was *probably* for Gunnar, but you listed my name instead. Just letting you know, as I think it's happened at least once before and it confused me a bit.

Yep, what happens when I try to post a quickie at work, that is indeed for Gunnar...
