A delve into the Sunless Citadel

Liberty's Edge

Unless you do not want a bugbear and a goblin, then I will go with Portia. If the bugbear is ok, then I will take him into combat!! Another front liner is good for our team, I think!

Daniel, your background is great. I love how !Ko's background focuses on him, while your background focuses on your experiences with !Ko. It's almost like !Ko doesn't care about the bugbear despite his loyalty to him (that won't be true, it just feels that way when only reading the two backstories).

More importantly, though, your background has helped cement how I'm going to roleplay !Ko. I was undecided on a few things, but you've really tied it up for me in a very nice way.

I just got my PHB a few moments ago, I need to take a look at it. but I was thinking that she is there at the Sunless Citadel to look for ancient magic and relics that might have been left behind. If I don't do a drow I'll do a grey elf, even though technically they don't exist anymore in 5E.

Liberty's Edge

Thanks bookrat...it was inspiration from your story that got me thinking about a companion for !Ko. Glad it will help you...and cannot wait to start playing!!

Dark Archive

Terevalis: Drow's fine, it's a standard PHB option now anyway, since we already have goblins it'd be random to rule away Drow.

!ko: I'll allow swapping Athletics for Acrobatics in this case (missed this earlier)

Oakhurst is distrustful of more 'evil' races, but unless you're actively attacking they won't provoke you too much, they're quite aware of the mortality of their Sherrif and Militia. Don't expect them to like having you around though.

Since there's only 8 submissions and we're not tied to AL's limits. I'm just going to accept everyone for now, and not worry too much if a few folks drop out early on.

I'll get gameplay and discussion threads attached and put up an opener I get home tonight.

A few quick questions and comments going forwards.

1) Does anyone want to do anything in town, or would you rather just start at the entrance and get straight to dungeon-plungin'?

2) Anyone object if we do group initiative?: I'll average out the party and monster initiative modifiers and roll once for each side.

3) I'm fairly relaxed about posting rates, and will assume that everyone goes along with what the groups doing if they don't post anything. That said, if you don't post for a whole week, I'll send you a PM and if I get no answer, you'll head back to town / camp outside the entrance until you get back to me.

4) Each Player round in combat will last 24 hours, anyone who hasn't posted in that time will either make a standard attack with their primary weapon/ability/cantrip, or hold back. I won't use up any significant resources when 'botting' you (i.e. anything that is limited, excluding regular ammo), except by prior arrangement. If you appear to be threatened up to the likelihood of one hit finishing you off, I will have you retreat out of combat and rely on ranged attacks (if any), or fall back out of danger completely (if you've been absent a while).

Hope this is all clear.

Woo hoo!

Looking forward to seeing how 5e plays. I know it's going to be interesting group since I see some familiar faces... :D

Good deal. I will get a alt built this evening for Kenzi. Looking forward to the game!

1) My vote is to start right away in the dungeon. I've got the equipment I need.

2) I'm ok with group init.

3&4) I accept these terms.

Question: on the Hermit background, would it be ok to swap out Religion skill for Investigation? I see where he was raised as more of an Academic than Religious institution....

Liberty's Edge

Ditto bookrat...already to go, and no problem on the house rules

Dark Archive

Since I already allowed custom backgrounds, swapping out a background skill is certainly no issue.

Cool.

Soval should be ready to go then. :) and I'm of the same opinions as Bookrat and Daniel. :)

I think I've covered everything.

Given the character portrait, for your mental image, picture David Bowie meets Elrond with a touch of Alan Rickman as Snape. I'll be trying to convey that in the posts.

I like the rules.

I was curious to see the town laid out to get a sense of the area, or see it getting built by narrative before we venture into the Citadel, but that's just me being a fan of narrative.

Dark Archive

I get what you're saying, and I like having a bit more context behind what you're doing, rather than just kick in the door. But in this case, I feel that a) it was designed as an intro adventure, hence there's not a great deal of town (village) to interact with, and b) we're on PbP timing, so what would be a half-hour intro to town in tabletop may end up spanning into weeks before the adventure itself.

I'll get some more details on the town up and you can feel free to summarise what you've been doing in the run up to it if it helps. Also it's entirely possible to retreat back for a while if you feel the need to resupply.

TPJ here again. While the foul-mouthed gnome could have been fun, since the party is lacking a healer and already has another Wizard, I've swapped over to Guillermo Arkha, human druid.

He wanders the woods and hits things with a big stick. He's also curious about the apples. And opportunities to hit things with a stick.

I'm cool with starting in the dungeon, and likewise I'm good with 2-4.

How long is recruitment open for?

Dark Archive

Sorry, the game is afoot and I'm already running with a full house.
