Mr Peppers watches as people disappear "Can you all hear me in there? Silas? Sirettis? Gallix, Uesugi, one of you two get in there!"
I hope things go smoothly. I'm very much not interested in heading in there to provide a rescue mission.

GM Hmm |

The range of message spell is not interdimensional. If you want to track them, you have to go with them.

I guess we're all in this together. "It'll be safer if we all go I guess, as much as I want to keep a look out you guys may need my expertise in there, Silas may put on a good show but he's not much of a Mage to be honest."
Mr Peppers casts feather fall then gathers up his crossbow and floats down to join the group in heading inside. He gives a quick glance at the unconscious bodies to make sure they're secure. Then heals himself with this wand and heads in. Perception of 22

"Um, HELLO?" Silas obliviously yells out from his 'cell.' "A curious trick. Am I in another plane? What's going on here? Mr. Peppers? Sirettis? Sir P? ... Guys?" While he's alone, he double checks that all of his wands are still neatly lined in their designated pockets. "Hah, I really have them going with the whole vanishing act! They'll never know!" He paces around the room a few times, then checks the door.

Uesugi heads in hearing Mr. Peppers message and not seeing the others anymore.
"Wu jen trickery. One of us needs to remain out here I believe. I shall head in."

"Oh, this is unexpected." Sirettis looks at her cell. "Mister Silas? Have you arrived? I am in a cell..."

Isa hops off her shoulder and flies around the cell.

"I can keep watch out here. Let me know if things go sideways and you need me in there."

D. Puts aside all equipment the caravan crew carried. As Silas vanishes, he looks slightly intrigued, but shrugs.
Peppers-san must be relieved.
When the others follow Silas' lead in vanishing, D. Puts the equipment near Gallix, and nods knowingly.
He turns towards the gate, and enters.
If D. Is trapped in a cell, he calmly pummels the door, lock or wall with gather power empowered sand bullets, until it breaks.

GM Hmm |

You are not trapped in separate cells. You merely pop in on either side of the Meeting Room partition, a long black curtain separating either side of this complex. Where you arrive in each room was a circle in the floor. When you tap it, the portal briefly appears. Sirettis and Silas hear each other and find one another at the black curtains just as the others pop in.
Gallix is still outside when you hear the RRRRRrrrrrrrrrrr coming from the vents and feel the temperature is rising.
What do you do?

![]() |

"There you are, Mister Silas." Sirettis looks at the wizard. "What is the next step? We need to secure the vial." She seems a bit sad. "I lost someone's trust today over this, so we must be successful!"

![]() |

"Sirettis! I'm so glad I'm not here alone - who would be my audience for my next act?"
Let's hope she didn't hear me earlier...
When the temperature rises, Silas quickly picks up on it. "Is it just me, or is it getting hot in here? Er, I really don't mean that in the way it sounds. It must be the desert heat trap." He looks around for a switch or something to turn off the vents. "Hang on, I know what to do. That trapsmith wasn't so skilled at her craft!"
Disable Device, vest of escape: 1d20 + 10 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (13) + 10 + 4 - 2 = 25

GM Hmm |

Silas easily does his half of the controls. You do need someone else to disable, too. Who's going to do it?

![]() |

I posted that I was coming down and inside so I'll do the other bit.
Mr Peppers appears next to Silas and Sirettis and Uesugi. "I can't communicate with you all in here so I figured I'd come down. Lets get this heat turned off shall we?"
Mr Peppers runs the other controls as he saw the techs do the other day UMD: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (5) + 12 = 17
Mr Peppers turns to the others "NOW, lets figure out how to get out of here before we start messing with that altar. We'll need to get D and Gallix in here to lay down the hurt on that thing. I wonder if we can get out of here and fight it outside maybe?"
Mr Peppers scans the inside as usual to see what's going on.

![]() |

Uesugi nods when Mr. Peppers indicates that they need to get the others in here. He taps on the circle opening the portal and steps through.
"We are fine for now. Come inside both of you. Mr. Peppers indicated best if we stay together for this." he then walks around to trigger the opening the portal making sure both D. and the barbarian both see how to open the portal and then steps through back into the sauna like conditions.

GM Hmm |

The revving sound stops, and the heat stops pouring though the vents. It is still swelteringly hot in here, but not to dangerous levels. I am going to assume that you are all together now, and exploring this transport methodically until you find that altar. Is this true?

![]() |

Uesugi urges on the others knowing that time is against them. "Let us find the vial quickly. As long as we are here we do not know what happens outside and the Aspis still hide from our sight."
Yes on both parts GM Hmm

GM Hmm |

Okay, going clockwise, starting with the rooms you're in...
The transport's interior shimmers with heat as unseen gears within the walls grind and whir. A heavy black curtain splits the room in two. In each half of the room, four chairs surround a round table.
Having seen these meeting rooms, you travel around the Northern most room.

This room appears to be a bedroom, designed to hold convoy troops that need to retreat or camp out for the night. It has labeled bedrolls, pillows and blankets, including ones for Nadini, Sirettis, Azul, and Verde, as well as unlabeled supplies for other trools.
Perception, Pep: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (1) + 12 = 13

Perception, Sirettis: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Perception, Uesugi: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
The far east room is a storage area full of crates and supplies, none big enough to hold the altar. There are food stuffs, spices, and box after box filled with glass vials full of water.
Doing anything in this room before I move you on?

![]() |

Mr Peppers approaches the crates of vials and draws one out and casts a spell on it making it glow and handing it to Gallix. "Keep this on you if you need to distract the altar. Or perhaps we should have Uesugi carry the extra decoy just in case?"

![]() |

Sirettis watches the pillows for the transport guards. "The gear of a traitor." She hesitates as she looks at hers.
"That is a good idea, Mister Peppers. At worst we can drop the decoy if needed. The altar will attack whomever is holding it, correct?" She casts light upon another vial and hands it to Uesugi.

![]() |

Gallix follows Uesugi's lead and circles the caravan until he is sucked up into the portal.
Once inside the interdimensional space, he follows the others around, basically waiting for directions. This is way beyond the pale for a jumped-up street rat like Gallix, and he knows it, though he does his best to maintain his bravado like Silas does.
When Peppers hands him the vial, Gallix takes it confidently. "I'll hang onto it, no problem! As long as we're able to get a move on and find the altar in the next half hour or so, I'll still have my enhanced speed, and should be able to keep the altar busy chasing after me."

GM Hmm |

The group travels to the Southern most room to find an elaborate kitchen and mess hall. The shelves that line the walls of this room contain enough food and water to supply one hundred people for a week, as well as pots, pans, and other cooking supplies.
Satisfied that you find nothing here, you travel once more to the meeting rooms that you had left behind... When a secret door opens in a wall.
I've uncovered the central room on the SLIDE. The brown rectangle is the altar.
The steel plates lining this chamber reflect the light cast by six vials of glowing fluid, sealed within a glass case atop an imposing altar wrapped in chains.
What do you do?

![]() |

Uesugi grabs the adamantine morningstar and waits for the others to indicate what to do.
"Street Performer the mystical stick I gave you prepare it if you will please. Are there are any other traps that might be guarding this altar minus the construct?"

![]() |

"Which vial is the correct one?"

![]() |

Mr Peppers scans the room for magic hoping to get an idea if these are indeed the vials they were looking for or just a ruse. "Give me a second here before you do anything hasty please."
"If I'm not mistaken, I thought the real vials were supposed to be hidden in a secret compartment in the altar itself. Am I right Silas and D?"
I seem to remember it that way at least, guess I should double check those notes!.... Hrm I guess I was confused.. the only secret lead lined compartment was in the transport itself? HMM?

![]() |

Silas takes out the 'mystical stick' Uesugi provided him with. "Ah, I don't use these things very often. I'd rather rely on my innate magical abilities." Bluff, Heroism: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 5 + 2 = 8 "Let me know when you want me to use this," he says to Uesugi.
"Yes, there's supposed to be a compartment. Don't be fooled by the vials here! They're tricks that will cause it to attack us!"

![]() |

"Oh. They are all fake. They have secured this well."
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Curious. Mister Silas enjoys performances, but perhaps he is more humble than I thought.
"Do not underestimate your ability to utilize wands. They are very useful to prevent your magic from reaching its limits."
Sirettis lets her hair down, to the ground. "I will try to hold the altar in place, so Uesugi may find it easier to strike it."

![]() |

Uesugi pauses considering what the others are saying. "The construct is a true guardian then. The vial is inside of it so we must destroy the guardian to get the vial. Let us prepare. Let us position ourselves better. Barbarian take one side and I will choose the other. The rest of you move out beyond it's reach. Are we safe to approach the altar there are no traps correct?"

![]() |

Silas dons the dorky Eyes of the Eagle, pokes his head into the room and tiptoes a little closer, searching for traps.
Perception, Heroism, Eyes of the Eagle: 1d20 + 6 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 6 + 5 + 2 = 15
Damn, nice bonuses but I doubt a 2 will cut it...

![]() |

Good bonuses means take 10! Feel free to ask Mr Peppers for help, I'm sure you'd love to do that :)

GM Hmm |

![]() |

Gallix stands alongside Uesugi, a look of concern creeping into his features. Eh...that thing looks a bit tougher than I thought. Really wish I had an adamantine weapon if my own. Oh well, guess it can't be helped now. I'm ready when you all are." He reaches into his cloak and wraps his fingers around the neck of the vial Peppers had given him, ready to pull it out and make a run for it as soon as he gets the signal.

![]() |

![]() |

"Ah-ha!" Silas walks over to the back left corner of the transport. Hopefully with everyone else "There should be a secret compartment right... here! It's lined with lead. Maybe we can use it for cover?" He points to the tile marked with an 'X'.

![]() |

"Barbarian take the morningstar. I will use my sword. With the aid of the mystical stick from what I was told it will not only make me grow but also whatever I hold. That should help to destroy what guardian." he begins to pass the barbarian the morningstar.
"Are we all prepared for this? If we are then street performer use the mystical stick on me and we shall see if the guardian is worthy of us."

![]() |

"Before you get too riled up maybe the guardian won't even activate if you avoid the false vials. Be ready but don't jump the gun here." Says tall, calm and sensible as he looks over everything for hints of magic while Silas checks for traps.

![]() |

"That would be ideal but I think once we start to hit the 'guardian' it will think differently. There is likely a less destructive way in but I take it we did not find any other way?"

The altar rushes into the main meeting room, following Gallix and his glowing vial. It gallops out of the secret room, its chains rattling behind it! All your readied attacks to off!
Gallix hits for full damage with his adamantine morningstar! Sirettis misses, and Uesugi slices, but only half his damage goes through.
