Male Aasimar Cleric 4

Rale, befuddled, yells out to Bruden.
What key? Where is it at?

Male Dwarf

"Grabbed the dagger instead. Thought I could pick a lock."

If the plate can't be set off by Bruden, he would continue his move, and double move to the top of the slope.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14

Male Aasimar Cleric 4

Rale casts HIDE FROM UNDEAD on Bruden as he goes by.

Male Dwarf

Bruden gives Rale a questioning look. "What was that?"

Male Aasimar Cleric 4

Rale responds, Some protection ... hopefully.

Round 1
Initiative 6

Rale casts a spell, and his hand glowing gets ready for Bruden to run past.

Initiative 5

The statue, having only one target tries to slam the prone Tyr twice.

Attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Damage 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

Attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Damage 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

So the second blow drops you to -7. Give me a stabilization check please.

Seeing that both its slams stopped the little meat sack from moving, the statue returns to an upright position and appears to be waiting from someone to descend the ramps again.

Initiative
Tyr 19
Malzuket 15
Bruden 10
Rale 6
Statue 5

Initiative 19

Tyr has assumed his customary position of bleeding to death.

Malzuket, Bruden, Rale you're up. Rale, you're able to touch Bruden with the hide from undead in round 1.

map

Remember it has 10' reach and gets one AOO per round.

male Human(Taldan) Fighter 3 Barbarian 1, hp 32/32, Hero Points 2, Init +2; Perception +6 Defense 12, flat-footed 10. . (+2 Dex) Armor DR: 7/magic or Large. (+7 armor), Critical Defense:+9. . (+7 DR, +2 Dex)

I am so going to die. make sure I do this right.

1d20 - 7 ⇒ (8) - 7 = 1

Male Dwarf

Are you sure it doesn't get two AOOs? It took attacks of opportunity on both me and Tyr last round. Of course, Tyr should still provoke one when he stands, so he still is in a pretty bad spot.

Also, Bruden thinks that the only hope of saving Tyr lies in getting that key. He is going to run as fast as he can to that key and back.

Bruden runs for the key, going over the stairs as quick has he can. He curses himself quietly for not grabbing that key when he had the chance. What good was a fancy dagger in this situation?

A) Rale can channel heal you, you'll be fine. Or I'll let you use your hero point to auto-stabilize if he doesn't heal you.

B) He took one AOO in the surprise round (his action:step forward, triggering your movement and the AOO, the only reason you got an AOO back from his movement is Combat Reflexes. You were all caught flat-footed. The second AOO was against Tyr in rnd 1.

Male Dwarf

That makes sense, I've just never provoked an attack of opportunity without taking an action before. It's a pretty slick setup. This place is definitely interesting in the way it is written.

Male Aasimar Cleric 4

After Rale touches Bruden on his way out of the room, he decides not to follow him, noticing Tyr severely injured and unconscious lying on the floor in front of him. Rale calls forth the divine healing power of the dawnbringer.

Rale bursts a channel of healing towards Tyr.
1d6 ⇒ 3

Still need Malzuket's action, if any.

Sorry, I thought I posted it. I'll acid orb the statue.

Touch Attack 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Damage 1d3 ⇒ 2

Okay that misses. So we're gonna go cinematic for the next round or two. Tyr is stable at -4. Bruden runs to get the key (needs two rounds). The statue isn't moving. Malzuket and Rale can cast another round of spells if you want.

Shadow's will save 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

Bruden runs to the room, and grabs the key from beside the fire. The 'black ghost' is no where to be seen. He rushes back across the stairs with it in hand.

Since the statue is currently inactive, unless Tyr starts moving around again, you can get ready however you want before combat starts back up. I'll reroll initiative when someone conscious goes back down the ramp(s).

Male Aasimar Cleric 4

Rale holds position and readies a spell with glowing hand, waiting for an opportunity to rush towards Tyr and lay a hand on him.

Rale readies Rebuke Death to cast on Tyr, but is hoping Bruden will draw the statue away from Tyr. DM, what is the speed of the statue?

You don't know, but as least as fast as a human.

Male Aasimar Cleric 4

Can silent image be used as a screen to conceal movement and action as long as their is no attack?

Yes. An illusion can block sight, but if it's interacted with the statue would get a save against it.

What were you thinking, Rale? You think i should put a "wall" around the statue, or just in between the statue and Tyr?

Male Aasimar Cleric 4

Malzuket, I was thinking that if you could provide cover for Rale to heal Tyr then we could get him out of there. Re-create the wall, but put it in front of Tyr and Rale, maybe the statue will leave us alone so we can escape.

Good idea, Rale, I think I'll steal it. ;-)

Hey Rale, the gnome says, weaving a spell out of the shadows around him. Why don't you go see if Tyr is still alive? I think I can help with the whole 'statue problem'. Just remember, the wall is NOT real, so try to keep it quiet.

As Malzuket speaks a brick wall springs up around the prone form of Tyr, creating a barrier between him and the construct.

Standard: Cast Silent Image to make a wall between W5/X5, X4/X5, Y4/Y5 as tall as I can make it. If I count as being in dim light/darkness I'm at caster level 3, otherwise I'm at caster level 2. By my calculations I should be able to make the wall at least 30 ft tall. I will also take care to not make the wall come into contact with the statue.

You should probably make it an image of exactly what's behind it, or the statue will be like 'Duurrr...does not compute, must smash.'

Yeah, that makes more sense to make it more of a continuation of the existing wall. Sorry, I was really busy at work and posted hastily to not slow down the game.

Male Aasimar Cleric 4

Rale cautiously approaches the steps along the eastern wall of the room. After watching both Tyr and Bruden tumble down the trapped stairs, Rale leans against the wall and squats low in his walking to lower his center of gravity as best he can before descending the stairs behind Malzuket's well-crafted illusion. Rale proceeds to make his way to Tyr in order to lay his glowing hand upon him.

Acrobatics : 1d20 - 5 ⇒ (11) - 5 = 6
Rebuke Death onTyr 1d4 ⇒ 2

Male Aasimar Cleric 4

shiznit,I need some cat's grace

Rale makes a loud clattering noise as he falls down the steps. The statue's head turns in his direction and cocks to the side. It slowly swipes one shield through the air in the direction of Tyr and Rale.

Will save 1d20 ⇒ 15. Well, so much for that plan. Back to fighting.

Initiative:

Rale:1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Malzuket:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Bruden:1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
Tyr:1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Statue:1d20 + 0 ⇒ (20) + 0 = 20

Initiative
Bruden 22
Statue 20
Malzuket 19
Tyr 12
Rale 9

Map

Bruden, you've returned with the key and it looks like the statue's seen through Malzuket's illusion. It's getting ready to smash Rale.

Male Dwarf

Bruden sneaks up from the rear to try to fit the key into the keyhole. He will try Stealth first, and then Acrobatics to avoid an AOO.
Stealth: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11

The half elf approaches from the rear while Rale distracts it from the front. He tries not to gain its attention, but he is very interested in avoiding its powerful swing since he felt it the last time.

Round 1
Initiative 22

To get the key in there, you'll need to grapple this thing for two rounds. We'll take that as the acrobatics for the slide.

Bruden manages to to get down one of the slides,

Acrobatics 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

but as he attempts to tumble up to the statue, but it swings a shield at him anyway. Luckily the shield misses.

Attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

As the shield swooshes over his head, Bruden notices that the statue is holding the shields, they're not attached to it.

Ie, they could be disarmed.

Initiative 20

The statue slams at Bruden again, missing.

Attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

Malzuket, Tyr and Rale are up.

Map

Male Aasimar Cleric 4

Rale being prone to Tyr reaches over to touch him and release his healing spell upon him.

Rale releases Rebuke Death on Tyr for 2 more points of healing per previous role.

Unconsious. at least until Rale heals him

Male Aasimar Cleric 4

Still waiting on Malzuket. Tyr should be at -2 still (3 channel, 2 rebuke death). I don't really want to DMPC him. You around Malzuket?

Sorry about that, I thought I posted. I'll just take a total defense and watch out for any other threats. At this point I'm not sure I'd be of much use down there against the construct and I should probably not use any more spells, you know?

Round 1
Initiative 19

Malzuket sees little options and simply assumes a defensive stance.

Initiative 12

Tyr is unconscious.

Initiative 9

Rale reaches over and heals Tyr, but he's still unconscious.

Tyr cleverly makes a small puddle of drool on the floor that the statue could slip and fall in.

Male Dwarf

Bruden attempts to disarm one of the shields. Perhaps it was programmed not to attack without them or maybe would respect the shields somehow. This was not meant to kill the lot of them. At least, he hoped not.

5 foot step to north, Move to pull unidentified dagger, Disarm 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Well, it's been fun. But a natural one on an untrained combat maneuver I don't think I will be able to stand up to three attacks. We will see what happens next though. Of course it is probably far to late to note that I never wanted to go down that slide again. I thought I could attack him from the 10' ledge because he was about that tall and I could reach down diagonally. But it is what is.

Bruden, you have the key, don't you? Can you just use that (to probably turn him off) instead of messing around with the shields? I assumed that's what you were going to do, so that's why I didn't bother trying to acid orb it for 1d3. Next turn I'll try something drastic with a hero point if you get dropped, no worries. Hang in there!

The key requires two rounds of grappling it. Much more difficult than knocking the shields out of his hands. Also you're being heroic Bruden, you just soaked his AOO for the round.

Round 2
Initiative 22

Bruden tries to knock one of the shields out of the statues' hand, but an unseen pebble trips him up as he swings. The construct replies with a shield bash.

Attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21 Uh oh.
Damage 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7 So he's at -1, stabilize check please.

Initiative 20

The statue steps over and slams at Rale, the only moving target it has.

Attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Damage 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

Okay, Malzuket and Rale are up. Since you guys are in the sh*t pretty bad at this point, I'll offer some specific advice. I'd recommend that Rale spend his action point to get an extra standard action. Then channel healing, stand up and attempt to start disarming this thing. He's the only one with the armor to withstand its blows and none of you are strong enough to have a good chance at grappling it.

Remember Roldare told you: You need the SHIELDS and the keyS (as in there's more than one key).

Map

Male Aasimar Cleric 4

Do I have DR since the statue is Large?

Good point. No, you don't. But you're still in the best position to do something. He already used his AOO this turn, so you can stand up. You can heal both Bruden and Tyr back to consciousness with a roll of 3 or higher on your channel and still attempt the disarm.

Malzuket sees the others in trouble and hops down, trying to help.

Move: Hop down to V-3, using acrobatics to negate falling 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Hmm, if that worked I was going to use a Hero Point to get a +8 and ,with flanking, disarm one of the shields. Now that I fell I take a d6 damage, which means I fall prone (unless, I suppose, you roll a 1 and the damage is negated by my DR?). If I'm prone, I'll use my standard action to stand up and at least give Rale a flanking bonus.

Falling damage 1d6 ⇒ 5

You can still attempt the disarm from prone. But you'd have a -4. So your roll would be +2 flanking, +8 Hero point, and -4 prone for a total of +6 on top of your normal CMB.

Male Aasimar Cleric 4

I'll spend my hero point. Would I get the same bonuses as Malzuket?

I have a -2 CMB, so I think I'd best save it for next turn. I will draw my dagger (I think I have one, hehe) as I stand so I threaten.

Rale, you might want to channel first and then use your Hero point to get a standard to disarm, instead of getting the +8. Reason being, if you get knocked out before channeling, we're screwed. Hopefully you'll roll a six

Male Aasimar Cleric 4

Rale gains the resolve to stand and calls upon the dawnbringer for a channel of divine healing to shower his friends and himself.

Channel healing: 1d6 ⇒ 2

Feeling a sudden surge of energy, Rale attempts to disarm the construct.
I will not be beaten up by Home or Family ever again!

Attempt to disarm: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

Male Aasimar Cleric 4

@#$%$^&!@#@$%$#&*

Sweet baby Aroden. Out of pity I'm gonna say you channel healed for six points.

Round 2
Initiative 19

Malzuket jumps down, falls, and stands back up.

Initiative 12

Tyr is unconscious

Initiative 9

Rale channels healing, and Sarenrae, seeing her follower's pitiful situation adds some extra umpf to the burst. (Everyone heals 6 HP). He stands up, and attempts to knock one of the shields from the statue.

End of Round 2

Begin Round 3

Initiative

Statue 20
Malzuket 19

Okay, from now on I'm going to remember that large creature's attacks bypass DR. Bruden's up.

Map

Male Dwarf

Bruden stands up and attempts another disarm, if he can find an opening. He is still pretty groggy from the last attempt.

Disarm, providing he isn't hit with the attack of opportunity this round. 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21

Round 3
Initiative 22

Bruden stands, hoping the thing misses him.

Attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10

Luck is with him a shield goes whistling past his face. Reacting quickly he jams the dagger into the back of the shield and tears it from the creatures grasp. It clatters to the floor.

Initiative 20

The statue swings at 1d3 ⇒ 1 Bruden with its remaining shield.

Attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Damage 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13

Malzuket, Tyr and Rale are up. Someone remember to tell Tyr what's going on, he's been unconscious.

Map

Male Dwarf

Well, that's me with -8, but at least I did something.
