The game will be a combination of role playing and puzzle solving (mostly of escape the room style). Characters are not omnipotent, and thoughts should only be posted if they are said out loud. The only information to be posted publicly will be common knowledge, out loud discussion with both PCs present, and discussions of rules and such. All else, including dice rolls will be kept hidden using "spoilers" and the trust system. I will post what I have come up with for the game system on this page, and I am open to suggestions on extra skills and such. The game will not be totally balanced (some scores won't be needed as often, some abilities are more useful, etc.), which will add to the sense of realism of the game.
This game will use the GERPS Lite system. The rules can be accessed on the GERPS website for free. They suggest that an average person would get 25 character points, but I'm going to give you guys 50 to make it more interesting, and you might want to take some disadvantages. You may disperse your points into anything suggested in the rules EXCEPT the following: any magic related ability, clerical investment, legal enforcement powers, military rank, reputation, status, wealth, dependents, allies, patrons, enemies, high technology (adv.), rapid healing (adv.), toughness (adv.), and youth (disadv.). I'm also adding something called the Mysterious Stat that your characters are not aware of. It will start at 0 and will increase when I say.
Everyone will start out with ordinary clothing, and no items other than the ones I tell you when the game starts. If you've got any questions or complaints, go ahead and ask. I'm not sure how familiar you guys are with GERPS, but the rules seem pretty different in some respects from Pathfinder and DND, so we'll probably have to work together to make sure we're doing it right. You guys should send me a copy of your character sheets in case I need to make any secret rolls against you. Enjoy!
SIDE NOTE: Depending on if you guys like the game and want to, after we finish this we might play it again, while allowing you guys to keep your mysterious stat score and metagame in terms of what you know about certain people. Sounds weird, but it actually makes sense within the story, although that won't make itself clear right away.
