Grafire, can you charge at an ANGLE? Instead of charging the 3 lined up in front of you, (my kingdom for a lightning bolt!) Tackle the guy in front of Rowan, push him on a diagonal. There are empty spaces behind him. Well, empty except for the poison cloud,... ;)

Human

As long as you have a direct route, you can charge. Diagonal is fine.

Hey, idea, (no better than my others, but no worse either.)

Grafire, delay until AFTER Manny. I'll drop a Sleep in the middle of the crowd, won't affect any of us since Seram's already taking a cat-nap. THEN Grafire can charge in among opponents that are at least slowed! If not asleep. And to make sure it hits, I'll cast something else first, THEN use an action point for the extra attack (sleep), AND that gives me another + to hit with the Human action surge feat.

Oh yeah, they are goin' DOWN clown! ;)

What'cha think?

EDIT- and if Grafire can arrange to be a little to the left of the current line when he finishes his move, Manny can move the cloud over the bad guy group as a finale. ;)

Male Human - dash of elf Miniature painter/ Heroic

Hehe, a ready/delay cascade. For some reason, that tickles me. :D

Coup de Grace - now... your thoughts as my fellow players would be appreciated. The DMG basically says, "Don't start bashing up unconscious PCs, it isn't much fun for the player", which is all well and good as a general guideline BUT it feels right here that the cultists will coup de grace Seram Zal, because a) he is very tough and b) he got up last time from being knocked out and they need him to stay down.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. Are you guys happy with the occasional coup de grace from opponents when it makes sense for them to do so, tactically and story-wise?

Heh,... well, I think that 'HAPPY' might be too strong of a word,... ;P

But yes, as a player I am perfectly comfortable with C-D-G'ing the opponents when they fall. I may not LIKE it, but I am perfectly fine with them doing it to me if I deserve it! :)

(Mage in a Conjuration Vat anyone?!) ;P

This is the point in my old RL group where we would spend the next hour in intense discussion before making a single move, trying to optimize our abilities/movements to rescue the party in need! We almost always managed too. Usually in 1 round. Almost always,... ;)

Male Human - dash of elf Miniature painter/ Heroic

That sounds very like the real-life group of Rosie and myself, especially when I am DMing. As a player, I am pretty cavalier about my own characters (perhaps I'm too used to my monsters dying!)

M Dragonborn Warlord / LVL 8

I like the idea Manny, but as a Warlord I would feel a bit of responsibility for my fellow warriors. To the Warlord a loss of a fellow would probably feel like failure. I am not opposed to CDG. I still have one more encounter healing surge available for Seram. So I think that it would be natural fo the warlord to try to revive his fellow warrior. If we can manage to split up the crowd and open some holes it could make some room for IT and Rowan to come further into the enemy ranks.

Human

Raise Dead is a level 8 ritual. I'm aware that Mother Sharallen is unlikely to let us buy a scroll from her, but is it something Rowan has on his list?

As a player I have no objections to being c-de-ged if it makes sense in the game. In this case, I think the cultists and the fishbods would certainly want Seram very dead indeed, but see how Lazaro feels. It's his character after all.

Male Human Cleric of Bahamut 8th

Good point Rituals is not something I've had any dealing with is there any problems if I used up Rowans' money with rituals for Rowan ritual book?
Or leave it until the next time they're back up in the village and able to spend money on such items?

Male Human - dash of elf Miniature painter/ Heroic

You can spend that money on Rituals - I should have reminded you, in any case. Apologies.

M Dragonborn Warlord / LVL 8

It is done Seram is awake and should have 23HP plus a minus 10 to damage until the end of my next turn. It sure helps to have 2 healers.

Male Human - dash of elf Miniature painter/ Heroic

Sorry Grafire, the enemy has to be adjacent to you when you activate the shield, so if you did use it now, it couldn't apply to Seram.

:( I feel bad for kiboshing all the plans you guys have but, it's all in the interests of fairness.

We'll all do a whip round I'm sure. Most of Akahale's loot is back at the temple in the homeland, but he will gladly give what he can to raise a fallen comrade.

We might get a discount from the Smooth Sailing for not being there very much, or saving the village or something.

Male Human - dash of elf Miniature painter/ Heroic

What I mean is (must learn to be clearer) is that Rowan can use his money to put Rituals in the book NOW (as if he had always had them), as he should have some in there already.

Done let me know if these are okay preferencing Heal based ones.

M Dragonborn Warlord / LVL 8

No biggy on the kibosh. I missed the part of the enemy needing to be 2 sizes larger or smaller. It was late when I was devising my plan, Muhaha. But then I about fell on my face attempting a bull rush instead on FM3. It seems I can't buy a decent roll on invisible castle, cursed dice...

Human

Fabes - just to let you and others here know that I won't be around from Tuesday morning to late Thursday next week. Please take care of Akahale. Preferably in a good way.

I have no problem with It being CDGd if it makes sense in the situation.

Male Human - dash of elf Miniature painter/ Heroic

Nice work on the Heal check.

This is one of the most knife-edge fights I've had in D&D. Any moment either side could be trashed.

M Dragonborn Warlord / LVL 8

Yeah, I had to think about it. Cause we really need our Barbarian if we are going to survive this battle. These thugs are hard enough and we haven't even got to the boss yet.

NOTE- It was SNOWING this morning,... IN SOUTHERN LOUISIANA! REAL snow, not a flake or two! (I've seen snow before, I'm not from here originally, but the neighbors were freakin' out!) The kids had a morning snowball fight before we went off to school.

It's gone now, turned to rain as soon as the sun came up, but it was a fun morning!

Human

I love snow very much. We had a decent fall last week - very early for this part of the world. Looked beautiful.

M Dragonborn Warlord / LVL 8

Fabes so is my stat right then based on my last attack. My str is 20 which I have as a +5 for damage and a +9 for attack. Is that correct?

Also if I am not mistaken cursed damage is only rolled when the Warlock attacks. Is that what the additional +1d8 on my damage was for that you rolled?

Not that I want the FM to still be alive but more for understanding the rules. As always the DM rule interpretation is right though... :D

Male Human - dash of elf Miniature painter/ Heroic

Yep - your attack bonus is right. +5 Str + 4 half-level = +9 before any magic, power or proficiency bonuses.

It's just that the half-level never adds to damage.

Note to all: I will have limited access from Tue 12/16 through Mon 12/22, but should be able to check in at least daily. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Pat (I'm Assuming your traveling) Have a safe trip!

Male Human - dash of elf Miniature painter/ Heroic

If (whistles innocently) It should have a combat turn would you like me to take his actions or do you think you'll be able to do so?

Go for it! Note his healing powers, especially if he gets hit by a save-ends thing.

Yes, cross-country trip. Flying from South Carolina to Kansas, driving to California, flying back to SC.

Merry Christmas one and all!

Male Human - dash of elf Miniature painter/ Heroic

Happy Christmas!

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas!

Traveling, time and access both more limited than I thought.
Should be back and back to 'normal' by the 3rd.

(Whatever 'normal' means!)

Thanks for understanding,
And HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Laters,...

Human

Very nice Christmas thank you. Looking forward to having Manny back - there's that whole "why do wizards have to wear robes?" question to settle.

I thought it was settled in Discworld, though I can't recall the answer.

Hey, at least we're not playing Rolemaster, where wearing robes (Armor Type 2) was usually worse protection than ordinary clothes (Armor Type 1).

Our aim is getting better. Not sure our common sense is improving much mind you.

Male Human - dash of elf Miniature painter/ Heroic

Back now folks. Update later on today of how the wall blasting went.

And as to why wizards wear robes... the D&D novel Curse of the Azure Bonds implies it's to have deep pockets for material components... and week-old candy.

Human

Ummm... we didn't blast the wall. Mandrake had a better suggestion and bizarre as it may seem, we listened to the old coot.

Male Human - dash of elf Miniature painter/ Heroic

Well, the way it looks to me is that you did blast it and he stopped you halfway through. He even says as much. So, I'll see how much you hit and take it from there.

Human

Fair enough.

Now I've re-read it, you're quite correct. As always.

'Curse of the Azure Bonds' Man THERE's a book (and old SSI video game) I haven't looked at in years!

Heh, I did post presuming that they were already blasting the wall, but either way is good for me! (He's so used to being ignored I never even considered them stopping to listen to him!) ;)

Human

Akahale's very polite when he's not whirling his eyes, expressing paranoid reservations about the origins of onions and blasting seven shades of whatnot out of evil-doers.

Male Human - dash of elf Miniature painter/ Heroic

I'm not always correct - witness the horrid parade of errors I have made in Twisted Night with not noticing things in peoples statblocks.

I am always convinced I'm correct at the time, however. ;D
