Evenstar
|
Evenstar breathes a sigh of relief as the guards leave.
"Yes, let's get moving quickly before they change their minds or some other greedy guard comes back for a second round of shakedown," Evenstar adds.

The Abacus leaves the dock immediately. As the ship sails smoothly up the Glass River, Amauhak asks you about how you intend to perform the rescue mission, namely how you will gain access to the inn without arousing unwanted suspicion. Metella, Passad, and Amauhak all allow you to devise a plan first, as each is keen to gauge your cleverness.
Metella recommends you pose as religious pilgrims seeking answers to spiritual questions that require privacy and freedom of movement. Passad, rather deprecatingly dismisses Metella’s suggestion as transparent nonsense, a challenge that clearly offends Metella. The Kalistocrat counters that you should pose as merchants seeking a way station for a regular trade caravan, as such a cover would require unfettered access to the property in order to assess its amenities.
You can also choose your own plan :)
Nadra
|
Nadra crosses her arms across her chest and blows a strand of silver hair away from her face. "I am not to fond with these deceptions and will take no part in their concoction. Simply tell me what is expected of me and stray not into darkness and I will do my best."
Therbin Warrak
|
Therbin strokes his beard as he ponders the situation. "While I agree we need to be careful as to not alert the captors we are trying to free the dwarves, as Nadra stated, some of us don't make a habit of being deceiving. Unless someone can come up with a better plan, I would feel more comfortable posing as a merchant than pretending to worship someone other than Torag."
Evenstar
|
Evenstar frowns at the thought of coming up with the most deceptive plans.
"I prefer a more straightforward approach; one that involves my greatsword and combat. I'm not one for coming up with back-door plans. Still, I'll go along with whatever you all decide."
Therbin Warrak
|
Therbin chuckles. "Well, I guess we're not very creative and we'll work with the merchant idea that you have Passad." as he nods to Passad. "What can you tell us of the lands upriver that would help create a believable story? What types of goods would we be transporting and from where to where?"
After getting an answer from Passad, Therbin turns back to the group. "We need someone to act as the leader. Preferably someone who is charming and could help convince people our story is true."
Who has a high charisma with bluff and/or diplomacy?
Nadra
|
"I have always been good with words and politics. I was trained in many schools during my time with the Cult of the Dawnflower. If needed, I only hope her light will guide me towards the brightest path." she said sternly, arms still crossed over her chest.
Cha 18, Diplo +8. Funny how the one who doesn't wanna take part in the deception is the one most likely to have to do some deceiving. or at least talking.
Sothy Samnang
|
"I'm not a quick tongued, but I can try to impersonate merchant. This should be easier than all that religios pilgrimage." Sothy was completely okey, with allowing other to do things they are good and he is not.
GM Baerlie
|
Most of you are either the 'merchants type' or 'I'll go along with whatever type', so I accept your decision on being merchants. If you want to start a fight and do it straight forward, you can do that whenever you like ;)
You could be merchants from Kerse who want to deliver goods to Isarn. Let's say you transport finest clothes and shoes. You don't want to sell something at the Gray Revelation Inn, you are looking for a way station to stop on your trip to Isarn. Passad says. "Or do you have a better idea? It's up to you." then he walks back into his cabin underdeck.
Billin
|
Billin smiles. "I can try to do that. I haven't made an effort to cultivate my abilities to trick people, but I'm told that halflings have a natural bent in that direction."
Caledonensis
|
Looks around at the group, studying each in turn. "I would put my money on Billin as leader." He pauses with a bit of thought, "Or perhaps both Billin and Therbin as he has provided interesting insights and thoughts." After a bit he chuckles to himself at bit maniacally, "And if they don't accept the deception, I am anxious to unleash my power!"
Therbin Warrak
|
"I agree that Billin should pose as the leader. We don't need to put Nadra in an uncomfortable situation. Besides, maybe they will be sympathetic due to your limp, Billin."

You continue your journey on the Abacus. Suddenly the river narrows ahead, flowing around a central isle thick with trees and vegetation. The northern fork of the river runs beneath a canopy formed by the isle’s overhanging trees and riverside foliage while to the south, the river is open to the sky above.
The captain of the Abacus takes the boat down the left fork and just as the Abacus is halfway past the island, a young river drake jumps out of the water, looking for food. He flinges a water snake he just captured onto the deck.
The river drake Comes closer and tries to bite Sothy.

I dunno if i'm next or not cause you wrote me next but really i should be like sixth according ot the inish rolls. I'll log my action anyway.
Round 1
"Foul beast, you'll find no meal here. Begone with you and find your supper elsewhere," Nadra chides as she moves quickly to draw her blade before attacking the creature.

WTF, the initiative rolls are now completely different from what they were in the preview. :( Please believe me, I put the names in the order of the original initiative rolls. And let's keep it like that.
Nadra swings her blade at the drake, cutting a big piece out of his leg.
The water snake motions over to Billin and bites.
Bite: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11 Damage: 1d2 - 3 ⇒ (1) - 3 = -2

Evenstar rushes into the action with a finely crafted greatsword made of cold iron. The blade is as tall as a man, and she swings it in a great arc before her.
"I was hoping for a chance to try out this new blade! This works nicely!" she yells as she wades into battle.
MW Greatsword Power Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9 for Greatsword damage: 2d6 + 8 ⇒ (4, 1) + 8 = 13
Google docs is not working for me. If I can maneuver to the drake, I'll do so; but have me attack the snake if positioning makes more sense, please.
Nadra
|
Yeah, there's no way to make it to the drake without provoking from the snake. I'll move you adjacent to the snake if you'd like. And I forgot to power attack my hit ):
edit: oh snap, you're flanking the snake with me! Let me know if you want to continue moving towards the drake. If you wanna go for the drake you can stop when you're in range or you could provoke from him as well to flank with Sothy
Billin
|
Based on the damage die of the attack that came towards me, I'm guessing that the snake is Tiny; in which case it doesn't threaten any squares.
Billin
|
Billin draws his morningstar and attacks the snake.
attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13; damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

I dont have access to google docs on my phone
Thurbin takes out his waraxe and attacks the nearest creature

Caledonensis shoots his acid splash at the drake, but the drake manages to move aside quickly enough. Sothy steps back, away from the drake.
The drake attacks the next opponent closest to him, Nadra.

"That hurt," Nadra said and tightened her grip on her sword. She swung her blade again, this time with more force. "Raaaah!!!" she said with furry as her blade cut into the drake's flesh.

Nadra swings her blade at the drake which just hurt her. She cuts the Skin of the drake's left wing. She can see that the drake plans to leap from the ship.
The water snake bites again, but this time Therbin is the target.
Bite: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21 Damage: 1d2 - 3 ⇒ (1) - 3 = -2 (1 nonlethal damage)

Seeing Billin smash the snake, Therbin also moves up to attack the drake.
attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8 damage: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
lol, I roll here as well as I do in RL :(
Nadra
|
Evenstar, on my next turn I'm going to five foot to the right and you can do the same so you can flank with me against the drake. Assuming its still alive. If i hadn't taken that hit, or just had better ac, i'd provoke and move to flank on my turn instead.
Evenstar
|
Deal, though it appears it might be trying to escape on its turn. In fact, should that occur, I'll just pre-roll an AoO, just in case.
MW Greatsword Attack AoO: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21 for MW Greatsword damage: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 3) + 6 = 13
Billin
|
No, assuming you think the drake is smart enough to use the withdraw action instead of just flying off, there's no AoO.
Sothy Samnang
|
As drake was still alive even after several mighty swings Nadra and Everstar took, Sothy was aiming well and then threw one of his daggers.
Attack target in melee, 1 range inc: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (8) - 3 = 5
Damage from dagger: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Unfortunately, he took aim to low and dagger hit a floor without harming sea drake.
