My goal is to let you guys set the pace. I'm extremely prompt to respond to everything in the thread, which is a product of my posting availability and personality quirks. It's not meant as a standard for anyone to feel they should have to match.
If I introduce a new development, trust I am looking at who has posted and who has not, and considering whether they will be denied any major decision points in the story. That's not to say I won't overlook things, but there's always flexi-time and ret-cons for that.
What I will shoot for, is to keep running summaries, and if there are absentees, I will put on the breaks a bit of it seems they are missing too much to be easily digested when they return.
As for combat, as you saw today, the monsters wait their turn as promised ;)
Is this working for everyone? Feel free to let me know.

Going fine.
Note--I rolled precision damage separate. Outside of 30', it won't happen even if the enemy is flatfooted--just made sure I rolled in case it did apply.

You can make any passive checks you want for Jerrid, including initiative. He has stonecunning which means he can sense traps and secret doors in stonework and that is something for you to bear in mind.
Damien plus lucerne hammer = lots of broken baddies.
As for posting, I tend to have busy or quiet days so posting becomes lots or little. Also I periodically run extra games and they grab my spare time. Currently I am planning to run (or start running) Rasputin Must Die on a Saturday in Feb.

Well with the enemies on one initiative, both blocks of the party really merge after the gnolls take their first proper action. From then on it's just us - them - us - them.
I see three guys acting before the baddies and four after though.
I see your point if it spills over into the next round, top of the first becomes bottom of the second. But I'd like a chance before each new round opens to resolve everything and post a new order of actions table for the new round.
Don't worry I'll be prompt.
Cool?

Sorry guys been busy day here in Scotland - bad weather means my rural interwebs has been spotty.
As with others please roll for me if things need moving along. With one of my previous characters I spoilered de-facto actions for first first three rounds of combats (know that the foe will vary hugely so not necessarily the best solution but it helped our first time DM out)
Down the line several of the players then became advocates for each other...
Food for thought?
Apologies again for the hold ups on the breakneck pace lol.

Of course. That works just fine, especially with how prompt you are!
No worries Sergeant! There can hardly be any complaints, our blistering pace thus far has already put us far further ahead than I think anyone expected!

lol I'm noticing that almost everyone has chimed in with an apology for not posting fast enough, and also a comment on the breakneck pace, so it's safe to say that the sense of urgency is being projected by me and no one else.
So, to reiterate, there's no minimum posting requirement. I'm in a unique position to update things immediately on my end, but that is not to be taken as a standard any one should strive to match.
Relax and post at your leisure, all.
I have at no point been annoyed with any of your posts or lack thereof.
In the sister game's recruitment thread I explained a bit why I post so frequently, if anyone is curious.

I don't think the first gnoll would be capable of bull rushing Damien off the cliff. You can only move your opponent directly backwards with a bull rush.
That said, I think it works if you just switch which gnoll did what.

Round two open. Check out the battle map, with Astor's help I was able to figure out how to add tokens!
Thanks for the effort with the "Round X Initiative Y" headers guys.
Format them however you like, I'm switching to Vhilish's simple bolded myself.
I realized today when I decided not to bother going into target because the entrance is on the left and the exit is on the right that I'm probably undiagnosed OCD!
Haha.
Thanks for putting up with my quirks guys, hope your having fun.

Did anyone else notice it was DnD's 40th birthday over the weekend? Take a look at the Gamer Talk thread otherwise.
I did try to edit my post to include the header but at that moment my darling daughter switched the power off at the wall. Will endeavour to get it right next time. Doubt I'll get another attack this round with the heavy hitters about to strike.
Cheers
EDIT: 40th Link

Hey all, sorry for being absent for a couple of days! Hopefully that little attack makes up for it. Still recovering from the flu and watching the rug rats, but I had a few minutes at work so I thought I might as well check everything out. I'll probably get a chance to check tonight as well, but it will probably be early to bed for this big baby!
Astor Evisthan
Not a problem. I'm still down with the flu, had to leave work already. I'll try and keep an eye on what's going on, but you probably won't hear much from me for the next day or so. I'm trying to get as much sleep as possible as to not miss anymore work. That being said, if there's something that I need to add to the gameplay I'll get in there! Thanks for understanding everyone.

Tomorow I'm running sound for a production of the musical Hair and I won't be able to post at all from work, and the next day I'm doing a big line-up of ska bands, during which posting will be light. Thurs night/Fri morning I'll be back to my usual manic updates if no one protests.
If anyone wants to do a good recap of what's happened so far I'll award 100 bonus XP to all. It will be a good tl;dr for anyone feeling lose, and if you include rumors you've learned and such maybe it will help you guys decide while I'm gone what to do next/where to explore.
I'm still in front of my computer tonight.

Here's a screenshot of my frozen crashed bloody freeware photoshop knockoff that just $h!t the bed on me. I have to redo te whole thing from scratch unless we can go theater of the mind :(
I just worked on that for like 40 minutes I think.
Shaman goes in the middle and is not supposed to be ginormous, I was rescaling him when it crashed.
DM Grimmy
All the yellow highlighted squares on this one are difficult terrain, I might have forgot to enforce the movement rates and the no 5-step rule on that sometimes last fight.
I remember I did take it into account when moving Astor for him.
Also, I just wiggled the tokens around to be more in line with distances I used when we were still TotM earlier in this encounter. So look again, feedback on positioning welcome.
Also also, I like to just count diags as 5', forgot to mention that since my groups been doing it so long I take it for granted. Thoughts?
Janna - The Storm Maiden
hey all, I go away for a real life game in front of real live people and you guys go and start a fight.
Janna - The Storm Maiden
also need some assistance, where is Janna at the moment, she is off the map.
last i remember she was at the clearing near a dead gnoll so how far does she need to go to catch up with everyone, does she even know there is trouble?
Janna - The Storm Maiden
got the new map. well at least I am there, even if it is in uncharted territory. how far from everyone?
EDIT: I am now guessing that i am on the road?
Janna - The Storm Maiden
ok thanks, I was going over it now trying to decide what to do, but then again I go last (again) I have gone last in every combat in every one of my games for the past few weeks.
Janna - The Storm Maiden
no biggie on the road, at least for me, I just wanted to be sure i knew where I was, that's all
Astor Evisthan
I'm at work but feeling a lot better. I'll be on and off with posting today.
Vhillish Quarrelwick
Great work on the map DMG - brutal day at work in the oil fields lol... HazOps meetings, pre-job meetings, kit prepping...
Back at home chilling now, so expect a post imminently :)
DM Grimmy
OK guys I'm finally home from work. 9:30AM to 1:AM! 0_0
There was a good 5 hours of hurry up and wait in the middle but I couldn't post from work like I usually do because there was a lot of cast nudity on and off stage, and they were strict about no camera/smartphone/tablet.
I'm going to read the thread and see what I missed but may not be able to update because I have another long day tomorrow, also with limited posting opportunity because there is a big lineup of bands so it will be soundcheck, set change, and so on ad nauseum. Things will be back to normal after that :)
