Garidan is up.
{Robed trog is now dead, Dresden killed it on his turn.}
Finially found the post about the potion. Variel has it. Dresden found it and handed it to him.

![]() |

Doh! I forgot about the potion. Dresden still has it actually, because Tella used the scroll instead. Sorry 'bout that Variel.

Tella Brightsmith |

Also players attacking a summon that is only likely to have a duration of a couple of rounds is generally a terrible idea. I would not mention it, but things are a bit tight, attack things that won't vanish on there own in a sec.

GM June |

I made a mistake when i summoned the centipede. Variel, please add 1 point back to your health.

GM June |

Variel, youre actually at -5 until someone gets the potion off you or heals you, until next round.

![]() |

Just checking to show that I am still in the game.
I had thought it was every round I had to make a check, if people couldn't get to me. I could die in battle. But I looked on PF PRD and it said make a check every hour...unless someone makes a heal check of DC10 or uses magical healing.
I will change hp.

Tella Brightsmith |

Don't know where you were looking Variel, but that is wrong.
DyingA dying creature is unconscious and near death. Creatures that have negative hit points and have not stabilized are dying. A dying creature can take no actions. On the character's next turn, after being reduced to negative hit points (but not dead), and on all subsequent turns, the character must make a DC 10 Constitution check to become stable. The character takes a penalty on this roll equal to his negative hit point total. A character that is stable does not need to make this check. A natural 20 on this check is an automatic success. If the character fails this check, he loses 1 hit point. If a dying creature has an amount of negative hit points equal to its Constitution score, it dies.

GM June |

Since you had just went down, I was going to bypass that round. But yes, until you were stable, you would need to do a con check at the start of your turn on each round.
Anyways.
Does pouring a potion down him work or did he need to be stabilized first?

Tella Brightsmith |

Pouring a potion should work fine, but I believe Dresden has it?

GM June |

This has been an interesting adventure and a very good learning experience for myself.
Variel's up

Tella Brightsmith |

Been great fun, I think we got a bit mixed up in initiative order, but I would struggle to tell you why, you seem to have done everything right there as a GM.
Have you seen the on site guides BTW? I will be kicking off my own game running the Giantslayer Adventure Path in a couple of days, and have just read them and found them very helpful as a primer.

![]() |

Potion is magical healing, since potions are spells in liquid form. It does auto-stabilizes. So if I were at -7 and potion gave me 6 or less... I would regain that many...and not be bleeding out.

GM June |

Garidans turn.
I'll update tommorrow before sleep. I hope. Might be sat though. Won't know till I see what time I get home tommorrow. The 1st of the month is another late day for me.

![]() |

Sorry 'bout my previous post, I'm terrible at remembering things. Variel you definitely have the potion of cure light wounds. Reading through all the gameplay posts and taking note that GM June said that the centipede did one less damage with it's bite, here's how I see it:
- you were reduced to -5 by the robed Troglodyte,
- which was reduced to -6 on your turn,
- you were then healed 6 points bringing you up to 0.

Tella Brightsmith |

So are we going again? I would certainly be up for it :)
If so might I suggest this free adventure Ambush in Absalom I don't know anything beyond that it is free for 1st level characters and set in Absalom with a kobold on the cover.

GM June |

Who else would like to contiune with me?
I'll give a list of items that you found as you search the tower and head back to absalom.
I'll look at that adventure. Thank you for the idea, Tella.

![]() |

I'm game if others are... Well, assuming we don't suffer constitution damage from the meal and drink Tella suggested :)

GM June |

Look through the loot sheet, let me know what you want to sell and what you'd wish to keep. I'm not positive if you can edit it or not. I will be making a spreadsheet to keep loot, so this is just for now.
Level up to 2. After i know what's to be sold, i'll give you a finial count on the gold you made.
250gp each for returning with relics.
247gp 100sp from fortress before sold loot.

Tella Brightsmith |

Cannot see the spread sheet needs to be set to allow for anyone with the link to view or edit.
Generally it would take 2 or 3 adventures like this to level us on XP gain, so my suggestion would be either to not level us to 2nd, or bump us up to 2nd level wealth per level - 1000gp.

GM June |

You are right, Tella.(i just hate level 1, so figured ya'll do also. lol.}
Anyways, we'll wait on leveling then. Cancel that level up...
Tella, Garidan and Dresden would ya'll like to find another or wait for a response from Variel and Brenna?

Tella Brightsmith |

Well you certainly get enough of it in PBP, but being higher level without the wealth can be dangerous can make the difference between a couple of points of AC for example.

![]() |

Tella, Garidan and Dresden would ya'll like to find another or wait for a response from Variel and Brenna?
I think we could probably give them a little bit longer, just in case.
You are right, Tella.(i just hate level 1, so figured ya'll do also. lol.)
Hehe, yeah, level 2 would be grand, Alchemists get a few interesting improvements (not least the ability to throw bombs without as much risk of hurting allies). But I'm pretty sure that that is a quick adventure, so no biggie if we stay level 1.

Tella Brightsmith |

Give it until the 5th? As I understand the 4th is some sort of grubby little holiday for you Colonial types ;)

Tella Brightsmith |

LOL, I lived in Florida for many years so used to attending 4th of July parties and getting endless stick - being English :)

![]() |

My opinion on level...is at least sleep full 8 hours, if we can in the middle of a dungeon. As for money, we should be in town to sell and get better equipment.

Tella Brightsmith |

Nothing in the loot Tella wants to keep except the Cloak of Resistance. Does anyone else want that, I assume someone will, simple roll off highest get it?
1d20 ⇒ 20

![]() |

Hehe, a simple roll off eh? starting with a 20 isn't bad ;)
I'm not worried about the cloak, the acid flasks might be handy though, if no one objects.

Tella Brightsmith |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

a masterwork short sword = 155gp
15 cold iron shurikens = 15gp
two flasks of acid = 10gp
a potion of cat’s grace = 150gp
a potion of lesser restoration = 150gp
a wand of summon monster I (CL 3rd, 9 charges) = 202.5gp
an amethyst worth 100 gp
darts (4) 1gp
masterwork scimitar = 157.5gp
cloak of resistance +1 = 500gp
10 javelins=10g if sold
a scroll of invisibility = 75gp
scroll of shatter = 75gp
scroll of shield other = 75gp
silver altar services, worth 100 gp altogether
two silver holy symbols of Nethys. = 25gp
masterwork silver dagger = 161gp
a masterwork light steel shield = 79.5gp
4 javelins= 4gp if sold.
collar with lapis lazuli stones and has a silver tag reading “Kita.” worth 50 gp. 2095.5
2095.5 ÷ 5 = 419.1 each + 250 relics + 51.4gp coins = 720.5gp each
I suggest anyone can "buy" items from the loot at the selling price, so effectively half normal price.
So Tells will buy the cloak of resistance for 500gp - if nobody else gets a 20 and its cool - and have 220.5gp left over.
I also suggest we each chip in 150gp to buy a Wand of Cure Light Wounds - 15gp a use as opposed to 25 for a scroll or 50 for a potion.

![]() |

That's a pretty neat way of doing it (and thanks BTW for doing all the maths), I'm all for it. The wand should be super handy as well. If either Tella or Dresden are unconscious the other could use it to save the day. Although if they're both down, we might be in trouble. Perhaps a potion might be useful as a backup if things go sour?

Tella Brightsmith |

Being incredibly cheap the possibility of paying 50gp for 2 HP of healing chills me to the bone. I would say people can buy their own potions, but if everyone wants one as back up I will, begrudgingly, chip in ;) Seems a bit over cautious to me though. Also though I cannot see his sheet I would be surprised if Variel did not have UMD for in a pinch.

![]() |

Woah, woah, I just meant one potion for the party, not one each. I may not be as frugal as you, but I'm not mad with money ;) Although I did forget about UMD, Variel has a +6, which is perfectly workable for a stabilised character. So I'm not too worried about potions anymore.
@GM June: Will there be time for a shopping spree before the next adventure? Dresden has his eye on a nice shiny breastplate :)

![]() |

I'm content without anything from the list, though as a suggestion we may want to keep the wand, acid flasks, potions, and invisibility scroll. Those could be very useful.

Tella Brightsmith |

Summon Monster I just isn't very good and as Tella would probably be the one using it, or in this case not... I would say none of those are party items, so if someone wants to pick them up they get them half price they can but otherwise... Its in our interest to keep as much as possible, but only if people actually want it. To my mind having an alchemist aboard makes the acid much less important than they would normally be - they are generally best vs swarms, but bombs slaughter swarms.
Nobody can really use the invisibility scroll reliably, so its usefulness drops hugely - more likely to fail than succeed.

![]() |

I do have UMD.
I'd be interested in the potion of Cat's Grace and maybe the MW silver dagger.
I would also say that Potion of Lesser Restoration might be useful in the future. Unless Tella plans on asking her god to give her access in the future.

![]() |

Sooo sorry, was checking the boards and saw no one posted in the play tab (missed reading that it was over and on our way back to town).
But yes, I'm up to keep going.
Sure, hate L1, but also makes us appreciate working to get to higher levels. Especially when the character may have a near death experience.

Tella Brightsmith |

Well Lesser Restoration is pretty situational, its a 2nd level spell so Tella could not prepare it until 3rd level. But she does have a decent heal check and generally that is sufficient and a more reliable way to recover from ability damage. Lesser Restoration only does 1d4 so for 150gp its not great value in my book - Penny Pinching for Misers ;) Even once Tella hits 3rd its more a prepare the next day if someone gets ability damage spell, unless you have a good idea you are going up against something with the ability to do ability damage.
If we get ability damage I would say manage it until it is practical to rest and then Tella will take 10 on long term care to get 2 points back overnight.
If someone wants to pick it up awesome, but I personally think its more valuable being sold and putting the money to things that are a definite boost.
Not tempted by the MW Shortsword Variel? You could always sell it later at the same price if you find a weapon you prefer.

i've decide i'll take these then i have my reasons for taking them

Tella Brightsmith |

Awesome, please don't think I was trying to dissuade others from taking them just that I do not think they are party items. It is definitely in our interest to keep as much as possible we think we can use since its half price. Plus if you find you are not using them after a while you can just resell at the value you "paid" for them so its win win.
Apologies if I am being a bossy so and so, it just seems the best way to move things along, hope it goes without saying that everything I am putting forward is just a suggestion, etc. :)

Nay, I prefer my rapier. Though I can sell my current one and get a masterwork one.
I have 409.5 gp left to get better rapier, probably cold-iron.
So questions... How much XP did we get?
and did the "Kita" collar come from the baby electric monster? That's the one we left alive to die of starvation.
