The Avalon Chronicles

Game Master lynora

This is a high level rules light game set in a school for magical kids, kinda a mash-up of Soul Eater, Harry Potter, and X-Men. :)

Male Elf Bard 14/Sorcerer (Maestro) 14

Ehos wakes up before Tyrrin, stretches, changes, and heads down to the cafeteria. His scarf is pulled tight around him as he walks into the people-packed cafeteria.

Kitty hurriedly downed her breakfast.

"Okay, I'm ready. I'm kinda excited. Nervous too, but mostly excited. I've really missed my family the last two years."

"I wonder where they are now? Do you think the Headmaster will take them back to his office when they're done with the tour?"

Imagefemale weredragon (amethyst) gestalt Soulknife17/oracle10/divine gunslinger7

Eventually the vomiting stopped and she got cleaned up and raided the storerooms. After a few crates of saltine crackers she was starting to feel a bit better.

::I'll meet you guys by the front doors whenever you're ready to head into town,:: she sent to Fieri and Vai.

Male Half-Elf

"I don't know, maybe." Michael replies. "It depends on the tour I guess. Think Saffire could deliver the message that you're ready?"

Image (doesn't have wings)

"Saffire, unsupervised, around my family....there are so many things that could go wrong with that. So many, many things. No, thanks. I like my familiar and I'm kinda thinking that I want to keep him." ^.^

She headed for the office, hoping that she guessed right about where the tour would end up.

Male Half-Elf

"He eats metal and sneezes lightning, what could possibly go wrong?" Michael asks as he hurries to follow.

Image (doesn't have wings)

"I don't even know where to start...."

Her words are interrupted as she shrieks from being picked up from behind and whirled around before being set back down.

"You got tall. And heavy, Geez, Neko-chan, what are they feeding you?" the now visible young man says with an unrepentant grin.

"Kyuu!" she exclaimed and hugged him.

Male Half-Elf

Michael is pretty close to making a force field around Kyuu when he sees that Kitty's happy to see him. He stops Saffire's dive-bombing instead and hangs back a bit to let Kitty catch up with her family.

The newly acquired ovens in the kitchen begin to move and start scooping up the aschen and the homunculi.

You can thank my Monday game for the oven idea, and blame Taron's late night kitchen raids for Avalon having them.

Jim first gets up quickly to destroy the ovens, but, realizing they aren't in immediate danger, leaves them to their own devices.

The homunculi are less enthusiastic about being trapped in the oven than the aschens. They immediately start on the lock, but not having any tools makes picking it a tad difficult.

Uhh....I never really statted them out, but they could conceivably have DD. their Mod would be crap, so I don't think they could get out without like, a nat 20, and some aid anothers.

After a time, the homunculi start babbling incoherently, and Jim gets up. He easily catches up with the oven, and proceeds to try and open the oven.

Grapple:1d20 + 23 ⇒ (3) + 23 = 26

When he's unable to do so, he resorts to simply punching it, hoping it will open its door.

1d20 + 29 ⇒ (5) + 29 = 34
1d10 + 24 ⇒ (2) + 24 = 26

What's with these rolls? Whatever, best to get them out now, while I'm goofing off.

The ovens open.

Warforged Engineer Alchemist 16/Armiger 16 Champion of Creation

The homunculi file out, and Jim uses healing touch on the oven. 5 HP every round it stays near enough for me to touch it. Now, stay away from these guys, alright?

::And you.... Don't even get me started on you guys.::

The homunculi slink back to the table, finally under some semblance of control.

::We're almost done Ephebe. Want us to bring you some bacon or something?::

Vai was just wolfing down her last few pancakes. Her training session with Aananda yesterday had been particularily tough, leaving her hungry in the morning. Vai was now able to hold her dragon form for a full minute, and Aananda was starting to test her magic abilities as well.

Male Elf Bard 14/Sorcerer (Maestro) 14

Ehos, with a plate of food in hand, finds a quiet place to sit, out of way. A small table with only one other chair. He carefully pulls the scarf from his mouth and begins eating.

Female Elf Gestalt Sorcerer (Starsoul) 16/Oracle (Heavens) 16

Tyrrin wakes late, glad for the opportunity to sleep after the long journey. She stays in bed for a long while, ignoring pangs of hunger. Instead, she looks out the window at the sky. So strange, that new sky. So beautiful too. She watches as a cloud lazily drifts along, then puts her hands forward, shaping the cloud into a waterfall. She smiles at her handiwork and returns to bed, falling asleep once again.

"Nii-chan, I want to introduce you to someone. This is my boyfriend Michael. And the little blue creature he's holding is my familiar, Saffire. Michael made him for me. No, don't start. I am too old enough to have a boyfriend. I'm not thirteen anymore. I already went through all of this with Nanami," she said, grinning.

"Michael, this is my big brother, Kyuu."

"Pleased to meet you," Kyuu said, eyeing Michael warily as he offered a hand in greeting.

Sees the joke and smirks

"Yes, well. I guess I'll go try to enjoy the rest of my weekend. You do the same, Mistress*" and he bows, then lets himself out.

Male Kobold (Adult Black dragon) Gestalt Sorceror/Oracle Necromancer; Champion of Death

Gets up, realizing he can't sleep without Ephebe there, and goes to get breakfast...

Female Half-elf Gestalt Sorcerer6/Dragon Disciple9 // Rogue (Swashbuckler)8/Duelist7

::Alright, I think we're ready.::

Vai looked over at Fieri's plate to make sure. "You're ready?"

Male Earth Elemental (Type Unknown) Unknown

Wyrd steps into the doorway of the cafeteria with the sound of a piece of iron hitting the floor, his bulk nearly filling the double doors. He looks around for a moment to see if there is a chair that will hold him.

Male Quasit (Demon) Gestalt Vitalist/Psion(Telepath) 16

Finishing with one of the gemstones, which now has a soft glow inside it, Phaezeriel stands up and stretches.

Looking over to where Jim is working, Phaezeriel sees that Jim has constructs making magic items.

Hey Jim, can you tell me how you taught them to do that? How can a magic item make another magic item?

Warforged Engineer Alchemist 16/Armiger 16 Champion of Creation

I'm just going to assume this was sometime last night, as Jim and company are in the cafeteria right now.

The homunculi, at hearing Phaeze's statement, exchange glances at each other, as well as gestures. You think they might be wondering if they're the magic items he's talking about. With a look from Jim, they get back to work.

::Pay attention to what you're doing, guys.::

Jim, however, turns to Phaeze.

Well, it's a special kind of construct. You can impart whatever magical energy into them that you would normally during crafting, and they build it. I'm not entirely sure how I can have them all working on the same thing while I do, but it's likely tied to my Champion status. I've gotten much faster at crafting than I ever was, lately, even without them working as well. If you'd like, I should be able to tie a new one to you, after I'm finished with this project. Be aware, though, that it ties you to it's life force, and if it is destroyed, there is feedback.

Vai Sunwake wrote:

Vai looked over at Fieri's plate to make sure. "You're ready?"

"Yep, all finished," Fieri said cheerfully.

The two girls headed out and met up with Ephebe in front of the doors. Ephebe looked a bit better, and even had some color back.

"Okay," Fieri said. "I want to look for some new stage outfits, Ephebe needs some looser clothes...you know ones made for normal people," she teased. "And Vai needs more of a wardrobe, and some fencing gear. That is a lot of shopping to do ladies...I think we should take the skimmer into town. We'll need it to carry all that stuff back."

Male Elf Bard 14/Sorcerer (Maestro) 14

Wyrd sees the elf boy who was coming out of the Headmaster's office last night sitting alone at the table with the sturdiest looking chairs.

Male Quasit (Demon) Gestalt Vitalist/Psion(Telepath) 16

Sorry .. didnt see where you left. This converation can happen in the cafeteria by telepathy easily enough. That was Phaeze's next stop.

Warforged Engineer Alchemist 16/Armiger 16 Champion of Creation

Whatever works for you. This would probably make more sense in the cafeteria. Y'know, almost like water-cooler talk for us.

Male Earth Elemental (Type Unknown) Unknown

Wyrd steps out of the way of the ladies who are leaving and giggling about clothes. Spotting some chairs that look as sturdy as the one from the Headmaster's office, he heads over to a table occupied only by a single elf.

Good morning. My name is Wyrd. Do you mind if I join you?

Male Quasit (Demon) Gestalt Vitalist/Psion(Telepath) 16

::So is making that kind of construct something only a Champion can do?::

Warforged Engineer Alchemist 16/Armiger 16 Champion of Creation

::Not by any means. I've been able to make these before Ie cam here. As long as you're trained in the creation of them, you can create these constructs, called homunculi, by the way, just as you would any other magic item. I've made some whose sole purpose is to be a form of communication. I've made a few I like to call Packmates, and they're basically walking repositories. Aananda and I are working to get some Packmates distributed with nanite healing packs, so the nurse can operate on real emergencies, and so we can have first aid around the school. Once created, these have a telepathic link to their master. Let me show you; I'll call another one from across the school.::

To the expeditious Messenger, which I assume hasn't been modified yet: ::Activate. Come down to the cafeteria. Use the vents again.::

Anyone who is in the lab I don't think there are any people in the lab right now, but just in case, will see the matte silver orb retract its legs and start hovering, orient itself, and fly out of the room incredibly quickly, using one of the nearby vents, which it dexterously unscrew, lifts the flap on, and re-affixes it.

Not very long after his proposed demonstration, a small matte silver orb comes into the cafeteria, speeding along to the table where Phaeze and Jim are seated. It lands, and awaits commands. This whole paragraph is if it's not interrupted.

Female Half-elf Gestalt Sorcerer6/Dragon Disciple9 // Rogue (Swashbuckler)8/Duelist7

Vai thinks for a moment. "That is alot to carry, and I've been trying to limit myself from teleporting everywhere. It feels like cheating. I've never ridden in a skimmer before, though we've studied them briefly in my mechanics class." Despite knowing how they work, Vai was a bit nervous about riding in the skimmer. She wished she could fly there with this much open sky.

Male Elf Bard 14/Sorcerer (Maestro) 14

Ehos looks up at the elemental, a bit shocked that it was talking to him. He looked around for a moment to ensure he was indeed the one being talked to, and then shook his head and motioned to the seat opposite him. He pulled his scarf in front of his mouth just in case he talked simply out of reflex.

Imagefemale weredragon (amethyst) gestalt Soulknife17/oracle10/divine gunslinger7

"Not to worry, Vai. I've driven the skimmer lots of times. So I know what I'm doing. No crashing, I promise." ^.^

The girls headed for the shed where the vehicles were kept and Fieri had Vai help her push the skimmer outside before Ephebe climbed into the driver's seat. Once she was sure that Vai and Fieri were buckled Ephebe hit the accelerator just a little too fast and they were zooming across the landscape towards town.

Female Half-elf Gestalt Sorcerer6/Dragon Disciple9 // Rogue (Swashbuckler)8/Duelist7

Vai, who wasn't expecting the acceleration to be so sudden, almost screamed as Ephebe punched it. After having recovered from the initial shock, Vai was pleasantly surprised. The skimmer went fast enough to feel exhilirating, but not too fast to be terrifying. It was almost like flying. Almost, but not quite. She relaxed as they traced the path into town.

Imagefemale weredragon (amethyst) gestalt Soulknife17/oracle10/divine gunslinger7

Ephebe had to slow down as they entered the town on account of not wanting to run into anyone, and she headed straight for the center of town. There was a convenient place to park next to a large inn. They used to have an all-you-can-eat buffet there. For obvious reasons that practice had been discontinued.

"Okay, Fi. Where to first?"

Image

"You even have to ask? C'mon, hurry up you two. Fiona's Fine Fashions awaits. Trust me, she'll be happy to see us," she said with a giggle, pulling the other two along towards a store with a ruffled pink awning over it.

Female Half-elf Gestalt Sorcerer6/Dragon Disciple9 // Rogue (Swashbuckler)8/Duelist7

That definitely looked more like Vai's idea of fancy fashion. The jeans were probably going to leave a mark around her waist. She wasn't too fond of pink though, hopefully everything in there wasn't pink.

The bell chimed cheerfully as they walked through the door into what looked like a fancy drawing room full of overstuffed pink furniture interspersed with racks of colorful clothes and accessories. A petite freckled woman with red curls bouncing around her face hurried to greet them.

"Welcome, ladies! Welcome to Fiona's Fine Fashions. I'm Fiona. What can I help you with today?" she asked, smiling cheerfully.

Image

"Well, I'm looking for stage clothes, as usual. You know what kind of things I like already. My sister, Ephebe here, she needs some more loose-fitting clothes. She's expecting and as you can see she's built like a toothpick so none of her clothes will fit when she starts putting on weight. And my other sister, Vai, well, she's really in need of a whole wardrobe. She's been borrowing clothes from Ephebe and you can already see the problem I assume?"

Male Earth Elemental (Type Unknown) Unknown

Wyrd pulls a chair out and lowers himself very cautiosly, obviously expecting it to break. The chair creaks ominously but holds together. After a moment Wyrd seems to relax a little and trust that the chair won't give out.

How they get the wooden chairs to be this strong, I do not understand.

He looks back to the elf.

What is your name? Are you also a student here?

Male Quasit (Demon) Gestalt Vitalist/Psion(Telepath) 16

::I am familiar with the making of constructs. I just never considered if it was even possible to make a construct that can make magic items. That is pure genius.::

Phaezeriel looks at the orb.

::What does this one do?::

Female Half-elf Gestalt Sorcerer6/Dragon Disciple9 // Rogue (Swashbuckler)8/Duelist7

Vai is a bit embarrassed. Fi had pulled up her t-shirt to show off the muffin top that had resulted from the jeans. Vai immediately pulled the shirt back down, pouting a bit. "It's true. And, I'm sorry Ephebe, but I don't think I like jeans. They just feel very constricting."

Male Elf Bard 14/Sorcerer (Maestro) 14

Ehos looks a little stricken, but tries to mime not being able to speak by pointing at his mouth through the scarf and then shaking his head.

Fiona laughed. "Why don't you give jeans another chance? I promise they aren't that restricting if you get them in the right size. It's so absolutely mortifying when you try to borrow clothes from someone that petite, isn't it?" she said sympathetically.

"Now you girls come with me," she said, leading them towards a sitting area in the back of the store, "and I'll get some things ready for you to try on. There's tea or strawberry juice for you while you wait. just make yourselves right at home. Do either of you ladies have any favorite colors perhaps?"

Imagefemale weredragon (amethyst) gestalt Soulknife17/oracle10/divine gunslinger7

"Pink," Ephebe said promptly. "My favorite color is pink. Bonus points if there are sparkly bits."

After Fiona bustled off, she leaned over to Vai. "I'm sorry about th pants. I didn't realize. If it makes you feel any better they'll feel like that when I try to wear them soon too."

Male Earth Elemental (Type Unknown) Unknown

Can't talk, eh? I apologise. I did not mean to cause any distress. Please forgive my ignorance.

As Wyrd finishes speaking he shifts in his chair. With a resounding CRACK, the chair explodes under him, depositing him on his back on the floor, shaking the room, and showering those nearby with splinters.

Will save: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (4) + 16 = 20.

After a stunned heartbeat, Wyrd's body heats very rapidly until molten iron shows through cracks in his skin, many of the splinters catch fire, and he grows rapidly to 18 feet tall, shoving tables out of the way to accommodate his huge size.

Warforged Engineer Alchemist 16/Armiger 16 Champion of Creation

::This one is a means of communications. It can fly quickly, as you saw, I can communicate telepathically with it, and it can actually speak.::

To the orb: ::Introduce yourself.::

The orb speaks in a metallic voice, similar to what you would expect a Music Box to sound like if it were to talk. It's a pleasure.

1 person marked this as a favorite.
Female Half-elf Gestalt Sorcerer6/Dragon Disciple9 // Rogue (Swashbuckler)8/Duelist7

"Blue." Vai says, a little self-consciously. She wondered if it was narcissistic that she liked the colour of her own scales.

"It's okay," she said, smiling at Ephebe's prediction. "I mean, if I had paid attention to my... birth... mother's lessons on tailoring a bit more, I might've been able to fix them. But her... 'wife training' was never very interesting. My cooking isn't great either."

Imagefemale weredragon (amethyst) gestalt Soulknife17/oracle10/divine gunslinger7

"I've been banned from the kitchen for life. I burn water. Professor Yrrum didn't believe it was possible. It is. They don't let me try to cook any more," she said with a wink.
