"The feathers of two demons? Won't that complicate matters with the potion on whose wings are used?"
Tyrrin Denulia |
As she's tending to Ghalen - with a great deal more tenderness that her typical demeanor would allow - Tyrrin's elven ears twitch at Tybalt's apparant injury. "Tybalt, my magic is not yet exhausted. Come here, and I will restore you. There is no shame in needing assistance."
Tybalt Baneko |
"K. We can walk back and maybe find more stuff or I can blink us back and we won't have to walk or see any more bugs. Either way is OK I guess. We haven't found any rocks yet."
Or have we? What's the cavern made of?
He appears next to Tyrrin.
"Thanks. I don't really like needing things from people."
He says with that slightly ashamed tone.
Settro |
"It could, if you aren't careful. But i don't want your wings for the physical substance. It's a little more abstract then that, but you don't seem.... Ah.... Physically stable? Using that, and the fact that your wing's abnormal rotation ability includes a larger rang of up then mine, should blend well. Though, the poison may not work quite right, I'll test it mepyself first."
note, I've been using "poison" instead of "potion". This is completely intentional. This is the second time you've heard him refer to it as such in the same conversation. What you make of this is indeed up to you.
David.De'Foul |
"Yeah, skeets still has a bit left above the quantity required for him to fly under his own power, and even if that does run out in a pinch I can drink one of my flasks of alchemist's fire and convert that to an energy he can use"
Tybalt Baneko |
Under the nest material, it's rock.
Cool rocks? It's reasonable after a battle that at least some spots would be torn up and visible.

"So I see, am I correct in assuming you plan to make the user of this poison as unstable as myself, and not only that but as flexible as well?"
Tybalt Baneko |
"It's not that bad.Tyrrin can fix it. I don't like being ground bound and I don't think he would either."
He pulls his shirt up so she can get to it to heal.
He's lying. It is bad. Teeth marks make a circle around his side and melting makes them look like the teeth were a whole lot bigger. If it was much worse that chunk of side would be gone.
He doesn't look at it no matter what.
[His Lace kicked on automatically so he doesn't feel it. It's just about 50 worth of damage, though.]
Settro |
"Not exactly. The poison does that on it's own for a few moments after you imbine it. I can subsistute a few of the more expensive objects for your feathers, and get wings that change slightly to make the owner more comfortable. It's a win-win, really."
he takes some of the ground up powders and puts them in a very small amount of liquid, then starts to boils the liquid.
Anahita bint Tariq |
"Er.." Vai says while Anahita is in full philosophical swing, but falls quiet again, not wanting to interrupt. She gives the Champion of Life an approving smile after she's done 'waxing'. "I know... sorry. I meant to say that I'm not sure if she'll distrub our temporal plane such that the inbalance will be noticable. Is that a better explanation?"
"So, what changed in the past month that you... are more full with words?" Vai asks carefully, mimicing Anahita's vocabulary to ensure she didn't get any terminology wrong. "I mean, is it a problem? Did you make the choice, as you say, or was it forced on you?" Vai asks - she knew very well the differentiation between the two, but they way she was describing it... it sounded like some new power...
With a slight shrug at Vai's re-defining, Anahita says, "The important thing is whether someone or something opts to act. Do we will to act, or let the universe sort out the balance? It's possible we are the means by which this diffusion will occur. As enjoyable as talking about the options are, that's the bottom line. Act, or not? What do you want to do? I'm not too related to this situation, yet, though in some ways-- the only imbalance I can say exists is that the other Vai is an intruder here, while you are the native. That is disruptive, in many ways." Then with a light smile she looks off for a moment, then back.
"I am unsure, of the specifics, I did not have a choice-- nor I might add, did I seem to care, when the days of roaming the wilderness was ended and a visit to the man, who dismissed me after he did his work, was concluded. My guide, who I believe was either the Dawnflower or an assistant of hers, led me to him and I did nothing to resist the call." That doesn't seem to do much to Anahita's expression, which remains a bit bland and indifferent.
"And now, here I am, deposited at this school. Clearly, to learn. Which I have done much of, and have much more to do. Accompanied with many new desires and thoughts alien to me previously."

"That would be useful, without a doubt" he keeps watching, wanting to see exactly how this poison will turn out
Settro |
"Hmm. Since this is a test run..."
settro smiles wide.
"Can i have a few more feathers?"
Lyere |
He sighs "Take three from the other wing to make it even"
Ghalen Kiln |
Gets a look at Tybalt's wounds.
"Gods, Tybalt. You seem to be made of sterner stuff than I had originaly guessed. Bravo." he says, with respect.
Settro |
"Thank you."
he plucks some more with his tail, then plucks some more of his own.
"Ok... Now to get my base, we need... Distilled water, ground black rot, a little of my blood..."
he cuts a small gash in his arm and drips a few drops into the vail
"And a little ground silver."
he dusts some powder into the potion.
"Heat that... And take the blended bird's bone marrow and ravens beak powder and mix it into the base"
he takes the powder left over from the liquid eventually boiling away and adds it to the concoction.
"Alright, now we're getting somewhere."
Lyere |
He waits to see the finished product

"The thing Johnny gave me cuts off pain if there's too much. It's still real, I just can't feel it. If I look at it, it won't work any more cause I know I should feel it. That's why I can't look. If I know it should hurt, I'll probably pass out."
He explains that it's no doing of his own that he can withstand the pain.
Settro |
a few more eldrich rengants and tricks, and ground up feather, he lets it set a while, until he finally takes it off the burner.
"Ok. It should be ready now."
he smiles wide again.
"This is going to be fun. Too bad it's gonna hurt like hell. Trust me, i know."
Lyere |
"If you need healing I can repair you, however as your friend I must ask, are you sure you want to do this?"
Settro |
"Hell yes!"
he chugs the poison.
1d20 + 22 ⇒ (9) + 22 = 31
his back Bulges for a moment, and two more pairs of wings emerge, and his current pair become a little darker and less defined. He grimaces, but relaxes once the wings are fully out. The wings have bright red covering most of them.
using eternal potion.
Lyere |
Lyere sighs and shakes his head, muttering something about reckless demons under his breath "By Tzeentch, you didn't have to gulp it down all at once"
Settro |
"Actually, it's better if you do. If you don't, it's slower and more painful."
he stretches his new wings.
"But check it out! Six wings!"
he looks back over his wings.
"... And four are covered with my blood. I'm gonna need a towel."
Lyere |
He goes to get a towel for you "Ever-merciful warp, Settro, why six wings, why not the usual number? It makes me think you have a thing for pain"
Settro |
"Well, i only grew four. And it looks cool as heck. That, and I'm used to it. I use these things on myself rather often."
he takes a towel and starts rubbing his wings off.
Lyere |
He hands you a towel "Ok, however I don't want you to grow a second head or mutate into some warp-spawned creature over it."
Settro |
"Oh, I've been trained better then that. I can polymorph myself back to normal easily anyway."
Lyere |
"Alright, lets go test your new wings" he mutters under his breath low enough so no-one hears him "If only overcoming the mutations of the warp were that simple"
Settro |
"Give it a minute. I used a trick to make them permanent... But they will take a bit to get used to... And they still kinda ache."
Lyere |
He sighs, placing a hand on his back and focusing his energies, his eyes dilating until Settro's pattern is visible "This will take but a moment, bare with it until then." A redish-purple glow encases his hand, healing Settro of the ache before he takes his hand away.
Settro |
"Oh, neat. I wasn't going to waste magic on a simple ache, but whatever."
he continues drying off his new wings.
"Yeah... Gotta work that problem out of the design."
Lyere |
"Its not a waste, I can do that at least nine more times, I can also revive you from the dead if it came down to it."
Settro |
"I doubt it. My soul is intertwined with my body. If i go down, so does my soul."
Lyere |
"Well, I'm not saying we should try it, but I have revived my brothers before that way, so I'm saying it could be possible to bring you back from the dead"
Settro |
"I wasn't thinking you were suggesting that either.
he chuckles a bit
Lyere |
He chuckles "Settro, you are my friend, and I won't allow you to die when it isn't your time. Rest assured of that, laws of the demon world or not" He looks at your wings, nodding "It would seem they are dry enough, lets test them
Settro |
"Yeah, let's go."
he starts walking outside.
"Should you ever need something changed about you, just ask. I love doing this."
Lyere |
"I will keep that in mind, though I would prefer just being the way I am until necessary" he follows Settro, his feathers gleaming a fiery red-purple instead of their natural blue in the sunlight.
Settro |
"Well, lets see."
he tries flapping his wings all at once, but they get in the way of each other.
"Hmm. I think i may have to try this a diffrent way.."
Lyere |
He flaps his now red-purple wings, waiting for you to get used to your new wings
Take your time, I need to get my blood back under control anyway"
Settro |
settro flaps each pair of wings separately a few times. Eventually, he tries flapping im order, first, second, third, repeat. At least, he's trying to. He raises into the air a little with quite a bit of failures to kick off, but when he does get into the air, he's ecstatic.
"Yes! There we go! This is hard. Usually this comes with a degree of instinctual knowlage on how to use them. In this case, the knowlage is wrong."
as his wings flow in the air, waves of black feathers, he hardly moves up and down at all. His hovering seems effortless with these wings. Though, he is devoting a lot of thought to working them properly.
Lyere |
He watches, controlling his blood and schooling his chaotic energies, his feathers taking on duller and duller shades as the minutes pass, eventually going a deep red, then violet, then finally reverting to blue "Good...Glad your getting the hang of it, keep it up"
Settro |
"Yeah, it's working ok... It's just difficult because it is rather contradictory to the normal way you use wings. Luckily, I'm used to shifting, so i can pick up things pretty quick."
Lyere |
He nods, thinking for a moment before grinning "How about we make things interesting this time around, let me give you a taste of my home, I don't doubt you can handle it with those six wings"
Lyere |
"No, just a demiplane spell, that's all, no demons" he chuckles "Unless you want to go meet my home?"
