Why should anyone travel the cracked cobblestones of the Old Road? The fortress that once cast its shadow across the road does so no longer -- some whisper that the earth swallowed the fortress whole in an age long past.

Unable to reach the warrior, Mo attacks the closest enemy.

----------------------------------------------
Mo dispatches the goblin standing in the door with a fatal thrust of his spear, even as Ron fights with his back to the wall like a caged animal, taking down another of the creatures with his dagger.
Lilly can only watch helplessly, while Romar and Kehr are forced to wait for an opening, the former aiming to take down anything that moves into the gap while Kehr plans to assist Mo in taking any such foe down.
The goblins make their move, one of them moving into the gap, and though Romar’s strike looks good, the thin blade glances off the corner of the door, missing his target. Kehr is able to distract the creature though, but still two at the door (#1 & #7) focus their attacks on the cleric.
Morningstar Attack DRR: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21 vs AC = Hit!
Morningstar Damage DRR: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Morningstar Attack DRR: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9 vs AC (w/ cover penalty) = Miss!
Morningstar Damage DRR: 1d6 ⇒ 4
The goblins surrounding Ron (#3, #4 & #5) attack, and with a shout a hobgoblin warrior joins the fray, taking the place of the fallen goblin as it swings its sword at the fighter!
Morningstar Attack DRR: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21 vs AC = Hit!

Longsword Damage DRR: 1d8 ⇒ 4
Morningstar Crit Confirmation DRR: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17 vs AC (w/ flanking bonus) = Critical Hit!
Longsword Crit Confirmation DRR: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7 vs AC (w/ flanking bonus) = No Crit!
Morningstar Crit Damage DRR: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Mo is struck a nasty wound (6 damage), but Ron is overwhelmed by his foes and nearly dropped by a savage blow from the goblin behind him! The warrior only barely escapes a death blow from the flanking hobgoblin, but still takes a terrible wound in his side, and it is a miracle that he is still standing at all. (17 damage!)
Party is up! You can all attack before the goblins, but refer to the combat table for initiative order and map linked below for details. Also, note that I neglected to add Bless bonuses to your attack rolls above, and Mo has an additional +2 coming to his own attack roll this round for Kehr's 'Aid Another' action.
----------------------------------------------
Welcome to the new game format! Though sorry I nearly killed you, Ron!! :( As you can tell from the previous posts I made under YOUR character names, you can roll the dice yourselves, including miss chance and such. Please try and keep it in the format I prefer, but if you go your own way on format I’ll be fine with that, so long as I can understand what you’re doing. I’m hoping that this new format will prompt me to post more often, as I won’t have to roll dice and such, I can just look at your results, compare them to my notes, and then update the adventure as needed to keep the game flowing. We’ll see how it works. If you have questions on anything, post in the Discussion tab so I can easily see it. Any feedback on how this is working in general, please post in the Miscellaneous Form back on the d20 board for everyone to see and share your thoughts.
Lafara, from what I can see, your intent will actually only serve to cut off Ron from a potential escape route (as the wall will be between the door and him), while only granting him concealment from the goblins – it seemed an unwise tradeoff and I doubted it was your intention. I just went ahead and dropped the spell, but from here on I’ll presume you know how it works (by my interpretation of the spell description), so keep that in mind, for good or ill effect with regards to all concerned.

GM West |

This is where the inability to edit a previous post is annoying...
Ron actually took 18 points of damage, as I noticed I didn't include the hobgoblin's +1 modifier to damage.
Ron, you are at 0 HP and 'Disabled'.

Ronald Manchester |

Thank you, Thank you soooo much.
'I'm going to kill every goblin I see when I get out of here.' Was the thought racing through Ronald's mind as he feels the pain of multiple wounds race through his body.
If his teammates take care of the goblin in front of the door Ronald will throw chance in to the wind and runs through the door as he yells "Look Out!" Risking the attacks from the goblins and even pushing through Mo if he needs too.
Tumble: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Even if they don't, he knew he just had to get to the door, he grits his teeth with pain and not knowing what else he could do he Bull Rushes the Goblin in front of the door with what he has left.
Strength: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Brother Mo |

Glad that he was able to add to the combat, Mo is still concerned that one goblin dropped just leads to another stepping up. He wasn't the best for fighting in this doorway, but it was about all he could do to help Ron....
OOC: Again
With the aid: Spear Attack DDR: Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7, Damage: Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
That's two for two really crappy rolls from this site. Also, the button below to show the code required isn't working today. Fortunately I saved the post for Francis and was able to use it. Hmm.... Fortunately? Maybe not!

Mo attacks the goblin in front of him, but fails to gets pasts its armor with his spear. Lafara completes her spell, summoning a skeleton that appears in a burst of smoke and fog just behind the goblins. The skeleton strikes at the goblin between it and Ron with its clawed hands, one of them slashing through its armor and drawing some blood. The wizardess readies her crossbow and loads a bolt into the groove

Lilly moves up and fires her crossbow between Romar and Mo at the goblin in front of the cleric, but is unable to connect. She reloads another bolt, hoping her luck is better next time.
Crossbow Attack DRR: 1d20 - 4 ⇒ (17) - 4 = 13 vs Goblin #1 (includes penalty for firing into a melee)
Concealment Miss (01-20) DRR: 1d100 ⇒ 65
Crossbow Damage DRR: 1d8 ⇒ 5 piercing
Ron desperately tries to disengage, but is unable to get through the goblin ring surrounding him (DC 25 = Failure!) and the goblin strike at the fighter, taking him down with a heavy blow from its morningstar.
Goblin #1 AoO DRR: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
Goblin #1 AoO Damage DRR: 1d6 ⇒ 3 bludgeoning
Round 4
Romar stabs again at the distracted goblin in front of Mo, but the annoying fog in the room causes him to miss with the thrust.
Romar’s Rapier Attack DRR: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28 vs Goblin #1 (includes flanking bonus, target has cover [+4 to AC] from wall corner)
Concealment Miss (01-20) DRR: 1d100 ⇒ 8
Rapier Damage DRR: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 piercing

Kehr continues to try and distract the lucky goblin, hopefully so that that Mo can bring it down quickly, but the creature ignores her feint as it turns back to the cleric barring the doorway.
Kehr’s ‘Aid Another’ DRR: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8 vs Goblin #1 (AC 14 for success - target has cover [+4 to AC] from wall corner)
Concealment Miss (01-20) DRR: 1d100 ⇒ 29
There is a sudden, inhuman shriek on the far side of the room and the dimly-seen hobgoblin curses in its native tongue, then growls at its underlings in the same language. “Finish them! Or you are all dead!” Then it turns and hurries off into the mist, quickly disappearing from view. The sounds of not-so-distant combat can still be heard coming from that direction. In the meantime, the nearby goblins continue their efforts against the party, three of them attacking the skeleton while the other two attack Mo. In a dazzling display of goblin ineptness, none of the creatures connect with their blows, though one of them nearly smashes his weapon into his ally’s side. Still, Mo realizes that the corner of the wall protected him from one of his foes, causing the cleric to jerk his head back to avoid bits of stone shrapnel that flew when the goblin’s morningstar connected with the door frame.
Goblin #1 Attack DRR: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Goblin #1 Damage DRR: 1d6 ⇒ 3 bludgeoning
Goblin #5 Attack DRR: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17 (target has cover [+4 to AC] from wall corner)
Goblin #5 Damage DRR: 1d6 ⇒ 1 bludgeoning
Goblin #4 Attack DRR: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Goblin #4 Damage DRR: 1d6 ⇒ 5 bludgeoning
Goblin #3 Attack DRR: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4 (includes flanking bonus)
Goblin #3 Damage DRR: 1d6 ⇒ 1 bludgeoning
Goblin #7 Attack DRR: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11 (includes flanking bonus)
Goblin #7 Damage DRR: 1d6 ⇒ 3 bludgeoning
Goblin #1 Fumble DRR: 1d20 ⇒ 15
-------------------------------------------------------------
OOC: Party is up, those who speak Goblin were able to understand the hobgoblin. Sorry Ron, that was a very low roll, and you had a lot of obstacles in your way – including a tumble through an enemy space, which is a very high DC. At least the hobgoblin had something else to attend to, though! You are all close enough to the door now to know that something is happening on the far side of the large hall, but the mist prevents you from seeing very far, so you can’t see details. Again, please do make your own rolls when you can, and remember you have +1 to attack rolls from Bless (and take a look at the combat map to see if you might benefit from flanking or the like.)
-------------------------------------------------------------
Round 4
Romar – 21/24
Kehr – 21/21
5 Goblins – Only #4 is moderately wounded, the rest are unwounded
Mo – 6/15
Lafara – 9/9
Lilly – 13/15
Ron – -3/23 [Dying]

Lilly Pond |

Lilly will fire another crossbow bolt, praying to Pelor that she hits a goblin and not a party member.

Brother Mo |

Mo sees Ron fall and calls out to the others to wedge forward to help their fallen companion. With a renewed effort, the cleric tries to take down the goblin in front of him.
Spear Attack DRR: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5 vs AC (Goblin #1)
Spear Damage DRR: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 piercing
Concealment Miss (01-20) DRR: 1d100 ⇒ 48

GM West |

Was going to post next round tonight, but I'm too tired. I NPC'd Mo to get the round going, but if the player wants to post his own dice rolls (recommended!), feel free to do so. I'll likely post tomorrow night, so you have until then to roll better than a '2' on the d20... :)

Brother Mo |

Mo sees Ron fall and desperately tries to move forward to help him. But first the stinking goblins have to die.... He calls out "Lilly, Try to shoot the one that's down, it's the only one wounded so you can use your healing burst once it's dead and not help the enemy. Ron's down and I'm hurting."
Spear Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 191d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Lilly's shot is effectively blocked by those surging through the door into the mist-filled room and holds her shot, waiting to heal or harm as opportunity presents.
Ron continues to bleed out on the floor. Stabilization (01-10) DRR: 1d100 ⇒ 81
At this point, I’m thinking I need to see how many players are still with us before deciding whether we can continue this one. So I'll give everyone a few weeks to post their actions for Round 5 before making my decision. I hope the move to the Paizo board hasn’t put off folks who would have been content staying at the d20 board, but activity there has been seriously declining in my adventures there anyway, so I felt like something needed to be done. I don’t think I can recruit fresh blood for this game as I intend to do for a couple others of my adventures here on Paizo, so I might have to just drop this one if I can’t get at least four players to remain as active posters. :(

Initiative Order/HP Condition
Round 5
Romar – 21/24
Kehr – 21/21
3 Goblins – All are unwounded
Mo – 6/15
Lafara – 9/9
Lafara’s Skeleton – Unwounded
Lilly – 13/15
Ron – -4/23 [Dying]

Lilly Pond |

OOC: I am still here. There was nothing for me to add after I posted my last action. But I am still interested in the game.

GM West |

Thanks Lilly! I was fairly certain I had you and Mo around, and maybe Ron (who perhaps wasn't posting because he's unconscious at the moment), but wasn't sure if anyone else was still here. Hopefully we can rekindle some interest and move the adventure forward.

Brother Mo |

Glad that his spear had downed another Mo continues to struggle forward, hoping that he doesn't join Ron on the floor. "Lilly, If you can't target a goblin with your crossbow, can you reach me. Another hit of two by the gobbers and I'll be down like Ron. Your healing burst might heal a gobber but it also might wake Ron and keep me vertical a bit longer. Or if you can safely cast a cure spell on me.... ?"
OOC: Continue the fight. Spear attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 91d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Kehr is still around. He was in the field with only his phone, but is back.
