Rallos Therinor |

I think what Gray is saying is checking to make sure that whoever is lying in those caskets haven't been.....desecrated by being turned into undead. I do not think he meant we should disturb them for other purposes. Surely you can reconcile that with your beliefs.

Grayface |

"About religion I know nothing and less, and your god is no exception. The only reason I haven't taken action is my concern for you and your faith."
Grayface appears indifferent to the glare pointed in his direction. There were enemies enough nearby, he needed no more, especially among his companions.

GM Zed |

Just letting you guys decide what you are doing next...sounds like you're considering:
- Examining / Opening the Caskets in the crypt to the north
- Trying to climb into the shaft above you / the shaft being quite high above you and with the occasional strange wisp of smoke
- Or, I guess you could look elsewhere
I will let you guys debate a little more...before chucking some GM flavoured flies in the ointment!!!

Rallos Therinor |

Rallos heads back into the room with the caskets and leans over each one, listening for any sounds/signs of movement/undead.
perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Maybe this will tell us if these unfortunate souls are at final rest or otherwise.

Ea Zalinsel |

I'm fine with checking if the bodies of the dead haven't been desecrated. And I thank you for your concern about my beliefs, Grayface.
The tone is flat, but it's the first time you hear Sister Zalinzel apologies. Then her eyes burn with zealot fire
And don't worry, Grayface, everyone finally encounters my goddess in their lifetime... whether they believed in her or not. Usually, it's at the end of said lifetime, unless you are one of her faithful, like me. I've seen more than one man or woman screamin" in pain and anger when death was about to seize them, cursing my goddess with their final breath. You can curse a table for not being a chair,Grayface, it will stay a table all the same. Pharasma will be the last one to welcome you, whether you are all alone or surrounded by family and friends, in peace or in agony.

Rallos Therinor |

Rallos moves back to the party, rapier at the ready.
Well, there is something restless. I think we should focus on that.
perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18 to determine direction of noise if possible

GM Zed |

As Rallos moves backwards, the lid of the casket is slid open and, tentatively standing as if still remembering how to do so, a dusty skeleton arises from it's 'resting place'.
As it does so, the heavy lids of five of the other caskets also start to move... the sound of stone rasping against stone ending as the lids crash to the floor.
Rallos - you may take you're 'readied' action to have a 'free shot' at the skeleton if you wish
Initiative for Party / Enemy
Grayface, Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Rallos, Initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Emerald, Initiative: 1d20 ⇒ 12
Ea, Initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
Yasmin, Initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
Skeletons, Initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Initiative Order
Rallos, Yasmin then
Skeletons then
Emerald, Grayface and Ea
Rallos and Yasmin may take their turns now

Ea Zalinsel |

Remember skeletons have no meat to cut, just bones to crush. I'll use my goddess blessing as soon as I can get most of them in range, Rallos. This will cure your wounds at the same time.
Ea prepares herself for the fight, rising her morningstar

GM Zed |

Rallos’s arrow clatters against the bony ribcage of the skeleton and falls limply to the floor. Climbing from the casket, it appears that Rallos’s attack, whilst deadly accurate, has not impeded the undead at all.
Rallos - There is one skeleton that you can see… and five caskets opening (as per the map)
Ea – As per the quoted text below, a cleric has to select whether to heal or to harm undead when using their Channel Energy class feature – so if you choose to harm the undead, you will not be able to heal Rallos at the same time
Channeling energy causes a burst that affects all creatures of one type (either undead or living) in a 30-foot radius centered on the cleric.
Just waiting on an action from Yasmin, if I don’t get anything today, I will either delay her or take a GMPC action so that we can move on

Ea Zalinsel |

thank you for the clarification. I used it once that way against some zombie goblins at the first floor of the Spire, and wasn't corrected, so I didn't knew I was doing it wrong.

Yasmin al Akbar |

"If you can get them in a nice group, I could hit them with fire or ice. As it is, I suppose we can settle for acid!" She goes for the one directly north of her.
Not the most effective, but it is against flat-footed touch AC:
Acid Splash: 1d20 + 3 - 4 - 4 ⇒ (18) + 3 - 4 - 4 = 13; Damage: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

GM Zed |

Yasmin’s attack splashes acid across the ribcage of the skeleton…the smell of scorched and melting bone is overpowering but the undead creature still stays upright…and staggers towards Rallos…scratching and clawing at the tiefling
Skeleton 1, Claw vs Rallos (Flanking): 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 + 2 = 18, hitting for 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Skeleton 1, Claw vs Rallos (Flanking): 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 + 2 = 9, missing
Across the crypt, skeletons start to climb from the opened caskets.
Everyone may take their turn now

Ea Zalinsel |

When she judges the skeletons are close enough, Ea will release a shroud-white blast of cold energy.
When the positive energy pass through the living bodies of her companions to hit the restless dead, they feel for a second the eternal silence, the unending darkness that is Death.
Not a very cheerful experience, to say the least.
Channelling, DC 12: 1d6 ⇒ 2

GM Zed |

Rolling Saves for Ea’s readied action for Channel Energy
As the Skeleton’s walk stiffly towards the group, Ea calls upon the power of her goddess.
Skeleton 1, Will Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18, Will Save Made – 1 Damage
Skeleton 2, Will Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22, Will Save Made – 1 Damage
Skeleton 3, Will Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22, Will Save Made – 1 Damage
Skeleton 4, Will Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16, Will Save Made – 1 Damage
Skeleton 5, Will Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4, Will Save Failed – 2 Damage
Skeleton 6, Will Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15, Will Save Made – 1 Damage

Grayface |

Remember skeletons have no meat to cut, just bones to crush.
Gray drops his sword and draws his flail, acknowledging the wisdom of the priest's words. Seeing Rallos attacked spurred him to action immediately.
Flail vs Skeleton 3: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24Dmg: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Emarald |

You are probably a better warrior than I Rallos, would you perhaps like to borrow my morning star?
Don't think I can get through without provoking and exposing Emerald to may attacks, She'll hand Rallos her morning star if he wants it and then draw and ready her sling. If he doesn't want it, she'll ready sling and cast Magic Stone

GM Zed |

Grayface's flail swings powerfully into the closest of the skeletons...its' skull exploding in a cloud of bone dust....and the remaining bones clattering to the floor.
Meanwhile, momentarily slowed by Ea's cold energy, the skeletons stagger towards Ea and Grayface who stand at the entrance to the crypt. Flailing bony claws swipe and slash at the pair of explorers...
Skeleton 1, Claw vs Ea: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22, critical threat
Confirming Critical: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19, Confirmed for 2d4 + 4 ⇒ (1, 3) + 4 = 8

Everyone may take their turn now

Rallos Therinor |

[b] I will do my best. Gray, fall back....you are badly hurt. We should back up so they don't swarm us....
Rallos waits to switch places with Gray on the front line, then attacks when he does.
attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 211d8 ⇒ 3

Grayface |

The fighter's blood was falling like rain. In a flash he had bleeding claw marks up and down his tall frame, and the enemies nearly had them surrounded. Making a hasty choice, he decides to fight.
"You pathetic bags of bones! Now you got me angry."
Flail vs Skeleton 6: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Clearly the anger was clouding his warrior's judgment, and the attack swings wide.

Ea Zalinsel |

Sister Zalinsel stands her ground, even if she now sports an huge gash from her left shoulder to her breast. She looks directly in the empty eye sockets, and says emotionlessly
As I am, you were. As you are, I will be. I just hope my skeleton will lie peacefully in his tomb. Let Fate be.
She rises her morningstar and tries to smash down the skeleton that hit her
Morningstar vs Skel 1: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
dmg: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
but her swing was too powerful and unbalanced to connect with the intended target

Yasmin al Akbar |

Yasmin backs up and flings another bit of acid at a skeleton. #2
Acid Splash: 1d20 + 3 - 4 - 4 ⇒ (12) + 3 - 4 - 4 = 7; Damage: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
"Fall back, use the doorway to our advantage!"

Ea Zalinsel |

Ea says with grim determination
Grayface, Rallos, go back with Yasmin and Emarald so they can cure your wounds with the wand and their spells. Close the door behind you, I will delay the skeletons. Then you will come back if you want, healed. It is my sacred duty to fight the undead, and I"m the only one who can possibly put them all to rest at the same time, or I'll die trying. Pharasma will tell. So go now. I think I can take it...

Emarald |

Emerald will cast a Cure as soon as Grey steps through the door. 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 Assuming Grey steps back this turn, you can still make a step after attacking, assuming GM Zed is okay with it, timing is a bit fuzzy in PBP usually as you struggle to discuss things properly.

Grayface |

If that is cool with Zed then that would be great. I would like to move back 5' step after my attack.

GM Zed |

Totally fine with the idea of Grayface stepping back as part of his turn
As Grayface moves back towards the door, Ea stands firm...her fate put into the hands of her goddess...the skeletons continue to scratch and jab at her and, when the second skeleton claws across the cleric's throat, she falls....
Skeleton 1, Claw vs Ea: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18, hitting for 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Skeleton 1, Claw vs Ea: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16, hitting for 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Confirming Critical: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9, critical not confirmed / hitting for 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Ea is now unconscious and dying at -4; on her next turn she will require to make a DC10 Constitution Check with a -4 penalty to Stabilise
Skeleton 5, Claw vs Grayface: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21, hitting for 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Skeleton 5, Claw vs Grayface: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16, missing

Skeleton 6, Claw vs Grayface (cover): 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (13) + 2 - 4 = 11, missing
Everyone may take their turn now

Grayface |

Not sure if this is viable. I want to pull pull Ea back through the doors as a standard, and close the door as a move action. What do you think Zed?

GM Zed |

Dragging Ea’s limp form from the room, Grayface manages to slam the door closed before any of the skeletons get through the doorway. As the door swings closed with a bang, the noise of bone scraping on wood fills the corridor into which you have retreated. You have barely moments to catch your breath before you notice the door handle turning…
This is still the same combat round that Gray dragged Ea from the room in…Ea’s stabilisation check failed and she will drop to -5HP at the end of this turn unless someone attends to her injuries

Grayface |

With his friend lying in pool of her own blood, and with various bloody deep scratches of his own, Grayface does his best to hold the door firmly closed while Rallos attempted to jam it up.

Grayface |

Strength Check: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
With grit, determination, and gritted teeth the large warrior held the door with all his might.
