Rhea Varn, the Hapan Sage
Glad you liked it. XD Don't let the charm fool you - she is built as a tank who can toss around people that bother her.
Rhea Varn, the Hapan Sage
Incidentally, online games often go better if we just alternate party/enemies/party. o wo For now... protect the cutie and don't ask her to fight seven Mandalorian brutes all by herself? 8D (...She's tanky, but perhaps not that tanky. XD Is level one, even with wound points to pad it out.)
Syrus Terrigan
I have also seen some successful use of the party/baddies/party breakdown on initiative before. I'd be fine with using it here, if y'all would like. I would just want there to be no overlap on the turn blocks.
For instance: if we implemented that pattern now, I would rule that Zev, Le', θ0, and Hayden could act in any order they'd like at this juncture, but Vadi, Zargro, and Rhea would need to wait till those four have acted before continuing their actions.
Make sense? Anyone interested?
Syrus Terrigan
Despite Zev's heritage, it's unlikely that he would recognize the insignia. This *is* a pretty obscure bunch. Some of that's their m.o., some of it's the overwhelming presence of the Neo-Crusaders, and some of it's "just because".
Looking forward to your turn, Harm's!
NOTE: I start my 2-day stint in about 6 hours, so my responses may be somewhat delayed till around this time Thursday. I *am* adjusting to the schedule, so maybe I'll handle it better than I did last week, but I wanted to keep y'all apprised.
Le' Za-Deen, skulking menace
Hey guys, my apologies for the delay. I've had a pretty exhausting week coupled with few technicalities. Anyways, I'm hyped-- I should frequent more, well, frequently.
HK-50-ThetaZero
Sorry, just got back from work traveling last night and spent most of today napping to readjust to the timezone difference. I'll have a post up later tonight or in the morning!
GM Terrigan
Okie-dokie, then!
We're drawing together all our participants' . . . participation, and I'm a few steps closer to bringing all our motivations toward the common goal of "stay out of the Mandos' way, and go find a ride".
"Railroady" Character Specifics Follow:
As it stands -- having the chance to examine that HK-50 unit may have significant ramifications for Consortium-wide coordination of myriad efforts. Follow the droid! lol. It would be a long-term project, to be sure, since the *technical* know-how isn't quite in your wheelhouse, but having access to, say, . . . a staffed safehouse in some system or another may provide House Varn with some serious clout, should the droid be inspected by an expert . . . .
Seem good?
I know I've unintentionally confused you a time or two with what I've done in Gameplay; I cannot apologize enough for that. Thank you for fielding it so well!
And I have a request/question, since it seems Rhea may need an in-game "nudge" out of the line of fire (literally): considering your backstory and the unfortunate end of your previous employer, do you think it's at all likely that you would take note of Rhea's situation and intervene? Perhaps in a vein of "girl power"/"looking out for a fellow feminist"? 'Cause, honestly, I'm trying *not* to KO anyone, yet, and Rhea is close to that line. I could use a hand!!
And remember -- acquiring grenades is much easier from a spaceship than riot-gas-enhazed humanoid vendors . . . .
And getting yourself and Zargro to the ship unharmed is a BIG DEAL -- I'm going to hit you with a backstory wrinkle once you get to your bunk. It will come as a surprise, but it will fit what we've already worked up on multiple levels.
*Very* glad to have you with us!!
It got busy, didn't it??
Vadi Sarnassi
More than "girl power" or "feminism", Vadi is quite pragmatic, so I can find an excellent reason: money. Even though she doesn't have much, Rhea just looks like money.

I will keep this brief:
As this game was coming together, I attempted to make some things clear concerning my expectations regarding posting frequency. It is evident that either: 1) I failed to be clear enough, or 2) some of our group have not heeded those expectations. Play-by-post games are slow, but this current crawl is, frankly, becoming unpalatable.
First, let me reiterate my 'posting frequency target guideline': Post something once every 72 hours, either here or in Gameplay, as appropriate. This keeps everyone aware that we are all following the action, and that we are all interested in continuing this cooperative gameplay. I readily admit that I haven't *quite* kept that up, myself, but understand this, friends: I EXPECT us to keep one another honest and engaged here; I will be doing my part from this time forward, and I welcome being reminded if I fail to keep my end of this arrangement. Furthermore, it may be inconvenient from time to time to post at that rate -- life happens. So, again, I say: Let me know if I need to 'bot' your character or advance the story with no input from your character. A five-minute 'alert post' here in Discussion *is* doable.
As far as this matter goes, some of us have held up our end, and in spades. You know who you are, and I congratulate and thank you. (I'll call names later, for weal or woe -- now isn't the time.) *
And second: I would like everyone to know that I hope to hear, here in this thread, whether or not you desire to continue this effort, and whether or not you can commit to the desired level of participation. If you cannot reasonably continue in the desired mode, just say so, and we can draw your involvement to a quiet, amicable end here. I know very well that we have enough regular posters that I can continue this campaign with a drawn-down roster. I am happy to continue this -- I want to continue this! --, but I need more engagement from **everyone** if we're to keep our current group together. If it isn't working out for you, for whatever reason, we can tie off your end of the story and move on, no unpleasantness involved.
Sound off, people!!
----------
* - I have failed to present certain mechanical particulars that I have promised. I cannot fix these failings of mine instantaneously, but I will make it right. I have also unintentionally missed some details that deserve my attention; these, too, I will remedy as quickly as I can. With that being said, I encourage any of you who have a complaint or grievance to make those known as we take this pause for refreshment. Remind me, please, of what things I have not provided for a fun, interesting game experience.
If there is anything that you wish to air out or address, this is the time. I am listening! I hope to hear from all of you soon!

A Sidebar During Our Wait:
1) Sapiens: what source are you using for Huttese? I dig it!
2) Saasha and Sapiens: do you have any recommendations at all? Any additional feedback? I've opened the table for discussion, but it doesn't have to be limited to the specifics I've set forth.
3) Both times I have attempted to post the Force Use skill check rules in the Campaign info tab, the boards have eaten the material. I'm getting really frustrated with that.
And since it's not likely to be too relevant for a little while in our story, I'll just offer this teaser info:
Force Use will function as either a Wisdom-based or casting-ability-based check, as I have mentioned before, in either a passive or active mode. It will "feel", mechanically, somewhat like a cross between UMD and the 3.5 Knowledge Devotion feat (not intended for combat purposes, though -- Force-enhanced skill use, primarily). It can be used untrained. It will usually serve narrative purposes only, but its 'active mode' applications can enable characters to emulate Force spheres and talents in which the character is untrained (know that the costs will be significant, in terms of FP costs and/or action economy), as well as emulating light/neutral/dark alignment. It will also be the go-to skill for Spellcraft-esque checks, when and where they are indicated.
The skill *won't* be a prerequisite for using your spheres/talents -- it is primarily intended to serve as a necessary catch-all. We'll work out any kinks as need be.
4) Saashaa: Do hold off on your next action until we've seen where we stand with the rest of the group, please. I'll cue the characters who *haven't* taken this round's actions once we have a clearer picture before us. Thanks!!
Vadi Sarnassi
I'm using this compendium online. As for recommendations, I'd have to play a bit more to be able to offer more. But I like that idea of Force Use! Versatility is the thing that Spheres of Power cuts down on, so it's nice to have a bit added.
Rhea Varn, the Hapan Sage
I'm here - though the boards didn't want to show me updates here in Discussion. o_O That's always a bit of a bugger, eh?
GM Terrigan
Yes, the boards' scattershot tendencies these recent days have been quite distressing.
And, Rhea: I hope my ring of flickering shielding descriptions haven't put you off. Both times it's been a factor in our chain of events, if I recall correctly, the differences between the rolls and the modified defense have been close to balanced. Since we agreed to tie the Shield sphere ability to your use of a Force focus, I've dramatized the near-miss results; I'll dial it back henceforth.
Gonna modify the top-of-page info momentarily, and then nod off to bed -- my 2-day stint starts in . . . 8-ish hours! Thank goodness for my three-day weekend!!
SynchroniciticallyChallenged
I would sooner tell a story than point fingers. The story is moving at a snail's pace (and not that Ryan Reynolds snail, neither), but that's my only gripe. Every other consideration I can think of would be addressed by everyone posting so that everyone can continue posting. The times I've been unavailable have been due to tech issues unforseen and unavoidable, and I plan to keep it that way.
I'm creative. It's hard to piss me off or corner me with words. The English is my ally, and a powerful ally it is, indeed.
GM Terrigan
Well, we have just about 5 hours to go, by my reckoning (the timestamp being 7:51 PM Central US on Monday), and we've had four responses. Four is a solid, workable number.
Here's the plan: by 8:00 PM tonight, we'll know which characters are going to be our core group, moving forward. Those are the characters that will drive the story, and the rest will, at "best", be treated as NPCs controlled by yours truly -- and that only so far as I deem necessary to advance the plotline. I've put forward a solid (if clumsy) effort to hook all these characters together, and so I'll stick 'em on the ship until I figure out what I want to do with them.
IF any of the "Absentee Three" attempt to rejoin us, I am willing (but being heavily informed by input from our core group) to give them a 'one and done' shot at renewing. But that's it. I truly regret feeling compelled to make this decision, as I think we'll miss out on some great narrative opportunities, but the world waits on no one, and stories must be told. So we'll tell the ones we're able.
And on that point: yesterday was productive!! I have cooked up even more things for us to do!! Huzzah!!!
Boy, but do I love the SWEU (aka Legends content)!!
For Yoricks, Avacyn restored, and Harm's Way: Last. Call.
For Sapiens, Synchronicitically Challenged, Saashaa, and Rednal: (in the immortal words of Samuel L. Jackson) "Hold on to your butts!"
GM Terrigan
I will put forward one more idea -- well, two:
1) Would y'all like for us to round out the number to five, by way of contacting some former applicants?
2) Or should we seek new blood by linking in a Recruitment thread?
NOTE: These are merely options, and not necessarily goals. Mentioning this may provide additional motivation for our stragglers, as well. 'Cause five is a GOOD number.
Vadi Sarnassi
In my experience, a small motivated group is better able to keep a brisk pace. That said, if you had someone you wanted to add, go ahead. Stories are soft clay, easily shaped around characters.
SynchroniciticallyChallenged
I'm pretty sure of who I am, anyway.
Well.
I hardly think this is the place for existential rumination.
I'm terribly excited to get to tenth level, at which point Hayden's high jump DC becomes 1 per 10'. Then all that Falling Lightsaber of Ridiculous Doom / Bakusai Tenketsu becomes all too real for mister BBEG whom he will also be able to scale like a parkour savant.
I've always thought, as a martial artist from the time I was tiny, that Ranma1/2 held secrets to ancient techniques hidden from normal folk. Always always always wanted there to be a secret village of Chinese Amazons that would teach me how to blow up mountains with my pinky.
Vadi Sarnassi
Great, I've got the strongest-willed Mandalorian in existence.
GM Terrigan
Heh. Three out of four in a handful of hours?! I dig it!
Saashaa usually posts during the hours I'm normally sleeping -- time zone, I reckon. This portends well, though: we can get this thing going!! Woohoo!!
I'm going to do a bit of metagame analysis to determine whether or not we have any glaring holes in our skillset array. I know that the loss of Theta-Zero and Le' Za-deen as active players impacts our Astrogation matters, especially considering that I pushed Za-deen toward starfighter/shuttle piloting (I had wild, wild long-term plans for everyone). Sure, we can just relegate them to "guard the ship" duty (which both players specifically voiced distress against at the outset), and let them handle certain things in a default fashion . . . . But I think that we may, indeed, wind up pushing toward the acquisition of a droid pilot for Spice Rush or whatever vessel y'all are flying, as Sapiens noted so long ago.
Eh, whatevs.
We'll just tell a story!! :D
SynchroniciticallyChallenged
It's hardly my fault. I don't force things upon people. I just give them compelling reasons to agree with me.
I don't make you play the game. I just show you how to enjoy it!
Hayden speaks droid. Hayden speaks mechanics. He doesn't trust a droid to pilot, but will totally trust a droid to plot a route through hyperspace. Definitely okay with acquiring a droid.
GM Terrigan

<.<
Y'all are spoiling for a fight, it seems . . . . We can make that happen . . . . I was actually setting the stage for. . . . theatrics.
In my mind, anyway. :)
We can do either one!
Just remember . . . . There's another squad of goons behind you . . . . At least so far as Zev is assured.
We can invoke the vote, as you like. Our three GMNPCs will roll as needed, but know: 1) Zev wants to move on; 2) Za-deen would be glad to fight; and 3) . . . well, it is an HK- unit . . . .
