Thanks for that bit of push, Vadi/Sapiens!! :)

I dunno what's keeping Synchro. Should find out no later than Sat. Maybe tomorrow.

Synchro has been advised of his omission.

The next parcel of story will be forthcoming this evening -- putting the finishing touches on it now.

Hooray~

First: apologies for the delay. I hurt my back pretty badly last week, and the steroids and pain meds have played merry hob with my sleep patterns -- I passed out during my contemplations yesterday, and had no time till now to post.

Second: Saashaa/Kreshell -- of you would, please, refresh me on the final version of the backstory we built. I think I may be remembering too much of my first draft, and not enough of the one you chose. Zargro *did* do a stint at the Academy on Carida before going to the University, prior to working on Nar Shaddaa, right? Or have I got it muddled??

Third: Synchro has been apprised (again) of the fact that we're rolling along despite his silence. I think he'll be back to posting regularly within a day or two, but whether he does or not, we'll be proceeding.

Fourth: You *knew* it couldn't be that easy, right?

Scholar 1 | HP: 6/6, WP: 20/20 | AC: 13, T: 13, FF: 10 | Fort: +0, Ref: +5, Will: +3 | CMD: 13 | Init: +3, Perception: +5

Sure, that sounds good. I don't remember the exacts and would love to roll with whatever ends up more interesting anyway. Though, if new personages are introduced from my backstory, I would like to know how I know them and maybe a little about them, Kresh is very people oriented so I generally assume his memory about people is good. In the end though, I trust you as a GM not to screw me just for gits and shiggles.

1) Synchro is plagued, once more, by connectivity issues with his cellphone. We'll see how it gets sorted out soon enough.

2) We are going to go with the triple-tiered background, Saashaa: Academy -> University -> Exchange. It'll tie in perfectly with what's to come.

Sage 1 | HP: 8/8, WP: 24/24 | AC: 18{19}, T: 17{18}, FF: 15 | Fort: +3, Ref: +5{+6}, Will: +6 | M. Touch: +3{+4} (1d6 + 1d6) | CMB: +3, CMD: 17{18} | Init: +3{+4}, Perception: +8, Pilot: +7{+8}

Rhea is fairly heavily people-oriented herself - most of her effectiveness in her job comes from making connections with other people and some creative thinking. XD She and Kreshell could probably do quite a lot together...

Male Human (Mechanic) Monk [Martial Artist] 5/Alchemist [Mutagenic Chef] 3/Bard [Incorrigible Caroler] 5

It's aliiive!

I apologize for my existential and technological maladies. Here in a few moments, I'll compose something and reinterject myself.

Yargh!!

Life.

Chapter Three intro post forthcoming.

Had a wedding to attend yesterday. Am *exhausted*. Will advance more either tomorrow or early Tuesday.

Here's the rundown:

Busy weekend ahead of me, *and* i have an unexpected funeral to attend, as well. May be sunday or monday before i can move anything forward.

For my benefit: Saashaa -- was Kreshell's Bluff check to send a concealed message to Zev that he has the go-ahead? Or am i missing something??

1 person marked this as a favorite.

No, the bluff is his general lying about almost everything.

Alrighty. I have a couple of things to check up on before I get the next post in place, so I anticipate it will be late tomorrow afternoon before I can get that done.

Synchro's silence has become a bit of a bother, frankly, and I've reminded him on at least two occasions in the last week that we haven't heard from him here in a goodly while. I know that his tech issues have made it at least partially prohibitive, but I also know he has a great many things going on irl. It may be that I bot him for a time till his tech problem is resolved, or we may be seeking another fourth -- I'm not sure which, at this point.

I'll say this (again): I truly want to set up a story that is *living*, and that engages all players. We've barely scratched the surface here, but if one cannot participate (for whatever reason), adjustments will become necessary. You three have been quite patient, and definitely involved in your characters -- I aim to reward that.

Read y'all soon!! :)

Scholar 1 | HP: 6/6, WP: 20/20 | AC: 13, T: 13, FF: 10 | Fort: +0, Ref: +5, Will: +3 | CMD: 13 | Init: +3, Perception: +5

I am enjoying playing with this crew. Though I am disappointed some left. I have had several negative experiences when I play so true to a personality of a character I create. Normally I have to dull or mute them in some way and just roll dice for numbers to happen.

^^^
The summary, thank you all for helping create an interesting story without forcing things.

A piece of news: Le Za-Deen may be making a comeback!!

And another: we may be getting to hear from Synchro a bit more often, as well!

Still got some background stuff to finalize before posting, but I should have something concrete very soon.

Hey guys, as our fearless leader, and my personal friend terrigan had mentioned, I am hoping to resume role of our navigator. Which i love what youve done with him in my absence. I realize this story is as much everyone else's as it is mine or cy's. I would like to reinvolve myself with the story. Though, I pour over these posts with a tinge of melancholy, I'm reassured this will be a fantastic story! Everyones character is so full of life, and quirky too! (Lookin at you "medi") Im ready for my spot and to contribute. Ive caught up on posts and ready to post in-turn. There's an adage about many people being merry, so how about +1?

It's always good to have more allies - especially once we get through Level 1 and start to really develop our characters and what they can do. XD

Also, for the caster types, the Spheres Wiki just added the content from the Protection sphere expansion. Lots of new options there if you're interested in ways of warding off various dangers. ^^

Okay. Post will *finally* be made this afternoon, people.

Will have a post for the Hayden/Le and Kresh/Vadi events later today. Still looking for a reply from Rhea/Rednal.

Though the description was good, I'm not sure what it is exactly that Kresh is experiencing with his senses.

Ummm . . . Then maybe it *wasn't* that good a description??

Rapid footsteps accompanied by laughter, the impact of at least one person-sized something with a bulkhead, and then locks engaging on a cabin. Circumstantial evidence: strewn clothing.

Any clearer, now?

Please bot as necessary.

Thanks for the heads-up, Vadi/Sapiens!! Do you want to get in a quick reply to Kreshell's question?

Even for our slower-paced game, that break was *interminable*.

Aye, GM! Before I post id like to know a few details: are there any unattended debris or stone within 20ft of where Le'Za is standing, hardness of said material , special properties (if applicable), and if my target has cover.

Thanks!

The Quarren has no cover -- he's clambering up onto the dockside straight out of the water. Clear line of sight/effect.

No loose rocks. Incidental debris? None of that, either -- MedStar runs a tight, tidy operation.

Since Le doesn't have a +1 BAB, and only a standard action with which to attack, he'd have to use a Force power to go on the offense straight out the gate.

Well . . . . It appears we've well and truly died off. More than enough of that is my own fault -- my own posting has been inconsistent, too.

Even so, I want to take a little time to mention some things that have occupied my mind of late. I'm going to let this post ride for a few days, and then determine what steps to take next. So, without further ado:

1) I have tried to lay out a multitude of Chekov's Guns, to zero expressed interest. Flagged datapads, outright discussion of possible upgrades to the ship, circumstantial newsfeeds, detailed backstories, plausible narrative elements with which characters may interface with the world through skills use, etc. Even a brand-new planet with which to interact. And, it seems, for naught.

Perhaps my lackluster presentation is to blame. Nevertheless, I haven't been challenged by character decisions, as yet. If no one is going to rise to the bait, then I'll leave threads dangling -- no need for me to drum up even more things in which my players/characters aren't interested. That would be an unnecessary expenditure of brain calories. Since this is a cooperative effort, I have approached this enterprise with the attitude of attempting to give my people what they want. And the sidequest possibilities of our MacGuffin Mission One have been wholly neglected. That's quite a downer for me.

I've even gone so far as to monkeywrench my own "cake" job (this kolto run) in a realistic way so as to present more of the one thing we haven't really had yet: combat. Imagine my surprise when only two of our five expressed an interest in retrieving the cash crop! I threw out the possibility of hitting the casinos in order to build bankroll with gambling checks *and* to provide a chance for contacting NPCs to hook later narrative threads. Rednal gave me a window for further interaction by having Rhea contact the planetary station chief -- and I went heavy-handed with that, too: more railroading.

Zev is getting laid so that I've got an out to write him out of the story. I am thrilled that Vadi and Kresh are, at least, toying with the idea of interrupting his shenanigans -- that could be a fun moment!

If Avacynrestored hadn't thrown his hat back into the ring, Le Za-Deen would have never made it back to Spice Rush for its departure to Kothlis. He might have re-emerged further along in our tale, but, frankly, I've been tired of trying to run so many N-converted-PCs

And don't get me started on what to do with ThetaZero. It's a true shame that Yoricks never made it back.

2) Since what I *have* done is clearly not galvanizing interest, I'm left with this question: What do our players want?

Point-blank: I'm not expecting to receive a full roster's worth of answers to that. I dare you to make me eat those words. :)

Pan-galactic murderhobo-ing? High-stakes political intrigue? Obscure Force research? Opposition to monolithic evil?

Or shall we just stay on the ship?

3) I feed off the energy y'all put into this. Foils of one another, we are. To paraphrase a Biblical passage: "As iron sharpens iron, so one sharpens a brother's countenance."

On that point: I **truly** don't want to bot anyone. I'm willing to wait for each of you to do what you want to do -- just as y'all have been patient with me.

Which reminds me: there's been no hue and cry on this thread concerning *any* of my delays. The conclusions easily derived from that lack of complaint aren't at all promising.

SO:

This post is going to be here for 7 days, and we'll see what gets said, if anything. I'll keep things going in Gameplay as they are prompted by any participants until that time. If it turns out that I need to write more characters out of the story, so be it; the proverbial door will still be open afterward, but it will likely only open to the moments containing the decisions your sundry characters haven't made (i.e., if you stop here, you'll resume here, most likely). I can split this table quick, fast, and in a hurry.

GM Freebie: If you want Star Wars: The Murderhobo Massacre as your game, you're probably in the wrong place.

Sage 1 | HP: 8/8, WP: 24/24 | AC: 18{19}, T: 17{18}, FF: 15 | Fort: +3, Ref: +5{+6}, Will: +6 | M. Touch: +3{+4} (1d6 + 1d6) | CMB: +3, CMD: 17{18} | Init: +3{+4}, Perception: +8, Pilot: +7{+8}

For what it's worth, I just thought enough people hadn't posted after my last post, so I hadn't added anything else yet. o wo/ But I'm definitely here.

That was far, far faster than I expected!

I can run a timeclock! Don't wait for anybody else. Besides -- Rhea's doing her own thing.

Triple-scattered level one party . . . . What could go wrong?!

Sage 1 | HP: 8/8, WP: 24/24 | AC: 18{19}, T: 17{18}, FF: 15 | Fort: +3, Ref: +5{+6}, Will: +6 | M. Touch: +3{+4} (1d6 + 1d6) | CMB: +3, CMD: 17{18} | Init: +3{+4}, Perception: +8, Pilot: +7{+8}

Heh. Waiting for the group to post is something of a habit of mine, I guess. XD A lot of it is due to the complications of PbP - it tells me how many posts are new, but if I check every time someone posts, I might forget how many people I'm waiting on and wait longer than I should. This is especially true with all the games I run.

Rednal -- while you're waiting for me to get Valmay's response made: would you like to clarify on your desires/expectations for this game moving forward?

Sage 1 | HP: 8/8, WP: 24/24 | AC: 18{19}, T: 17{18}, FF: 15 | Fort: +3, Ref: +5{+6}, Will: +6 | M. Touch: +3{+4} (1d6 + 1d6) | CMB: +3, CMD: 17{18} | Init: +3{+4}, Perception: +8, Pilot: +7{+8}

I'm pretty chill about letting you tell the story you want to tell. XD If you'd like some specific directions, though... I'm hoping for a fair bit of action once we get past the early levels and our builds really get going. Maybe a series of short missions would work well? Fairly focused, couple of "rooms"?

This first mission was supposed to just be a relative cakewalk in terms of narrative, and a field test of what we needed to hammer out on more of the mechanics. Blahblahblah.

As for quick-burst action missions? Oh, there'll be plenty.

I might as well go with some 70% disclosure here:

1) I'm **totally** saving that first hyperspace check. Because reasons.

2) We have a solid line on a goodwill rescue mission: Jebber Lofkte. Though, of course, that's most directly tied to the ongoing involvement of Kresh and Zev . . . . And the ease of that mission's emergence is in doubt.

3) The family connection between one PC and the higher levels of Republic politics cannot be neglected.

4) Holonet News Network posts exist for a reason.

5) Synchro seeded a great deal of opportunity into some of his earliest posts. It remains to be seen whether or not Nar Shaddaa is going to remain a "pivot" location for us.

6) The "middle act" of this current MacGuffin Mission One has a direct line to a new source of conflict, and teasing out that narrative thread can open a HOST of opportunities.

Anyway, though . . . .

I encourage you to be as bold as you like in stating what you'd like to see. I ain't scared of being fed straight lines! :)

I mean . . . .

It's a big damn galaxy -- let's use it!!

Sage 1 | HP: 8/8, WP: 24/24 | AC: 18{19}, T: 17{18}, FF: 15 | Fort: +3, Ref: +5{+6}, Will: +6 | M. Touch: +3{+4} (1d6 + 1d6) | CMB: +3, CMD: 17{18} | Init: +3{+4}, Perception: +8, Pilot: +7{+8}

Rhea's pretty straightforward. XD If she sees interesting tech, she wants it. That could prompt at least some quests, especially if we hear things like "A good buddy of mine is working on some prototype blasters, but he wants to get some field tests done. If you pick them up and try them out, he's willing to let you keep them as long as you give a good report after."

Ha!! All for the ossum lewts, huh?? lol

Sage 1 | HP: 8/8, WP: 24/24 | AC: 18{19}, T: 17{18}, FF: 15 | Fort: +3, Ref: +5{+6}, Will: +6 | M. Touch: +3{+4} (1d6 + 1d6) | CMB: +3, CMD: 17{18} | Init: +3{+4}, Perception: +8, Pilot: +7{+8}

For short missions, it helps to have a straightforward goal/reward, I think. XD Gear is a decent way of doing that.

Such can, and will, be arranged! :D

Scholar 1 | HP: 6/6, WP: 20/20 | AC: 13, T: 13, FF: 10 | Fort: +0, Ref: +5, Will: +3 | CMD: 13 | Init: +3, Perception: +5

My apologies to all for my tardiness. GenCon took more of my time than anticipated. I will be able to post very regularly starting now.

Any further input on my earlier points, Saashaa??

Also: I've done a little scouting, and it appears that Sapiens has done almost **nothing** since the time of announcing the move. I haven't gone so far as to make an exhaustive check of alias posts, but the fact that it's been two weeks leads me to believe that there's been a significant shift in priorities . . . .

Scholar 1 | HP: 6/6, WP: 20/20 | AC: 13, T: 13, FF: 10 | Fort: +0, Ref: +5, Will: +3 | CMD: 13 | Init: +3, Perception: +5

I personally like how it is going, though it is a bit slow. That also being said, Kresh is playing the long game and being careful. Until this mission becomes successful he's got no leverage.
