Captain Adam Reeves |
"I doubt that old ship can do us much harm," says Reeves, "but let's not take any chances. Standby phasers, but do not lock weapons."
"Comms, give me a channel to Atlantis, audio only."
Once the channel is open: "Atlantis, stand down. You are not under attack. This is a peaceful rescue operation. I repeat, stand down."
Captain Adam Reeves |
What's our goal here? I think we may be overthinking this. Either we leave them to their own devices, send them back or welcome them to our century. I'm leaning toward the latter.
Captain Adam Reeves |
Reeves sighs. "The jig, as they say, is up," he says to his bridge crew. "Let them go."
Punching the comms button, Reeves talks to Atlantis's captain.
"Captain, your weapons would be hard-pressed to ripple the paint on this ship, but you're not wrong. We're not who we said. You're in danger, but not from us. I propose a meeting. You and your first officer can come to us or I and mine will come to you. Your choice."
Captain Adam Reeves |
"Captain, do you need assistance? I can send armed security officers to assist you if you have a problem. Otherwise, I don't think there will be a need for weapons. I'll beam over in ten minutes."
Reeves severs the connection.
Okay, our First Officer is still an NPC. One who would probably argue against Reeves going at all and would insist on remaining behind if Reeves does go (which he is). Anyone want to go in CDR Kreskin's stead? Thoss would make sense, as might T'Karra, but she's not all there and I don't think we should rotate her back into the thick of the action.
Captain Adam Reeves |
"Very well, Mister Kerensky. You're with me. Mister Thoss, you have the Conn. If this situation goes poorly and you cannot easily retrieve us, your orders are to report this incident to Starfleet and track that ship from a distance."
Reeves heads for the transporter room. Once he and Kerensky are on the transporter pads, he indicates to the chief that he is ready. "Energize," he says.
GM SuperTumbler |
Reeves and Kerensky dissolve in a shower of sparkling energy. Their vision fades into the glitter of a transporter beam, and then they refocus in another transporter pad. This one is more simple, the design more utilitarian. An engineer in a gray jumpsuit stands at the controls. As soon as you appear, the young human, clearly of African descent, moves toward the doors to the chamber, a phase pistol in his hand. The doors open and he disappears into the corridor, where you hear the sound of the discharge of energy weapons.
Captain Adam Reeves |
"Valiant, Reeves here. Something is wrong here. There is gunfire in the corridors. Have a security team on standby. If we lose communications for more than an hour or if this ship attempts to bring warp engines online, they are to beam in and seize control of engineering. Reeves out."
He indicates that Kerensky should follow him and he head to the door, looking carefully out.
Captain Adam Reeves |
Reeves kneels to check the pulse of the engineer, shoving the archaic pistol towards Kerensky. "Take that and cover me."
Reason+Medicine (I'm guessing it's a Zero difficulty?): 2d10 ⇒ (7, 9) = 16
Kerensky is the better shot, so...
Dr. Malati Bhalla |
"Sick Bay to Bridge." chimes in Doctor Bhalla. Presumably, enough hours have passed, to announce:
"I have developed a treatment for the effects of the psychotropic compound in the survivor's blood and a suitable method of delivery.
However, some of adverse effects of exposure are likely to remain in his body for years, perhaps even permanently." she continues. "What is our current status?"
