CAREER EVENTS

Called Out a Superior
When he was a lieutenant aboard USS Typhoon, Reeves ignored an order of his Vulcan commanding officer, Commander Sovek, who ordered him not to interfere with a Klingon “arrest” of a family of Andorian settlers illegally squatting on Marduk, a Klingon-claimed planet. Reeves had entered into a romantic relationship with Voroness, an Andorian soil scientist. Reeves ignored Sovek’s order, sabotaging the weapons systems aboard the Klingon Bird of Prey and allowing the Andorians to escape. He then lost a fistfight with the Klingon first officer and suffered a near-fatal beating. Reeves spent two months in Klingon custody before Sovek managed to bargain for his release. Sovek arrested Reeves and confined him to quarters, but ultimately did not insist on a court-martial, settling for a letter of reprimand in Reeves’s official record.

Required to Take Command
A year later, Sovek was killed in battle by Romulans when a rogue Thasian, a psionically powerful and incorporeal race (see TOS: “Charlie X”) seized control of USS Typhoon’s bridge crew and took the ship into the Romulan Neutral Zone for its own purposes. With the Thasian gone and his ship on fire, Reeves took command as the highest-ranking survivor and rescued his ship during a running firefight with two Romulan destroyers. He was honored for valor, almost eclipsing his former low reputation. This action saved his career.

PERSONAL
As a result of his dalliance on Marduk, Reeves has a half-Andorian daughter. Her name is Thiras Sh’Azanon and she is a cadet at Starfleet Academy, studying to be a scientist like her mother. He wishes he had a closer relationship with Thiras, but he was simply never part of her upbringing, only learning of her existence two years ago. He pulled what strings he could to ease her admittance to the Academy, and has only visited her in San Francisco one time.

PERSONALITY
Reeves is unmarried and dedicated to the service, his ship and his crew. He runs a tight ship and expects his crew to be the best in Starfleet, no exceptions. He is a risk-taker, both with his own life and with his ship, but there is no effort he wouldn’t spare to rescue or aid one of his own.

Reeves believes a captain must set an example for his crew. Thus he is personally reserved and never enters into romantic relationships with anyone under his command. Furthermore, he has only a small circle of close friends and he holds himself apart even from these when they are under his command.

His violent past with both Klingons and Romulans has left Reeves with a very low opinion of both species and he considers them to be little more than thuggish villains to be opposed at every turn.
