Thanks, TMBtC!
I will get maps all in place for you before I go.

I need to claim a back up for Oct 20 - 22. I am going to Scarefest in Asheville and my internet connection is gonna suck
You back yet? :P

GM Ladile |

Hey guys, are the positions of the Aid Tokens current? Reading back through the thread I see where Tokens #2 & #3 have both most recently been passed to Thrawn's table, as well as Token #1 some time back (which doesn't seem to have been passed at all since then, according to the thread).

![]() |

It looks like the tokens are being passed, but not correctly. There are TWO components to passing a token, and several GMs are only doing one.
Step 1: In the GM Recruitment thread, reply to the most recent post containing your token. Then delete the BB code for the quotation, and update the information.
Step 2: Notify the GM receiving your token by posting in their Discussion thread.

So, as written I don’t think the orc Witch Doctors can cast their 5th level spells (their tactics want them to cast cloud kill). Their int score is too low. They get to treat their int as 2 higher, but that only gets them to an effective 14. You need a 15 to cast fifth level spells.
I think the scenario may have been written with the old version of the archetype in mind. The new version is sad figment of the old one.

I have seen fewer goblins, but still finding myself randomly logged out quite often, and most pages are pretty slow to come up.

![]() |
Site is slow and I keep having to relog in.
So now I check every game I'm in just to make sure.
Occasional Goblins sighted but I have a lazy dog so they usually go after him. Helps him keep fit.

GM Cwethan |

Both players who were bolded in your last post have taken their turns, so it looks like a coyote should be up.
EDIT: Ninjaed by Overseer Granta the Swift

![]() |
How's everybody doing with the Site outrage and all? Should we get a time extension?

![]() |

I'm doing alright. My group did the vanguard battle already, are now doing the protect the convoy battle, which I expect them to finish tomorrow or the next day. If we have extra time they expressed interest to go fight the leaders.

![]() |

I have tried to keep my table moving, and they are a pretty fast moving table. But, the last couple of days have been really slow for them for the obvious reasons.
Personally, I would like to see a day or two added to the schedule.

![]() |

Probably hasn't helped my table that they decided to do the caravan, which is the longest (and most annoying) encounter.
They'd already be done, for sure, if they went after the leaders. We're starting round 4 of the caravan.... still 2 more raiders to go, unfortunately.

GM Ladile |

My table tackled the vanguard first and are now working on the leaders; they've got a lot of slow-movers which is why they've purposely avoided the archers and probably the caravan too. I'd say we'll be able to finish the leaders before time is up but I highly doubt we'll be able to finish a third encounter.

I am happy to offer an extension of three days beyond the deadline for this Special with all the downtime we’ve had. For our sake, can you guys report the Special by the regular deadline though? Do your rolls, and report to our reporting form by the regular deadline? That way Larry and I can close up the Gameday HQ in a timely manner.
Hugs,
Hmm

GM Hmm |

I also sent out an email to all GMs about this.

I tried to sort this out on my own, but can use some help.
A Wayang has the following ability.
Light and Dark (Su): Once per day as an immediate action, a wayang can treat positive and negative energy effects as if she were an undead creature, taking damage from positive energy and healing damage from negative energy. This ability lasts for 1 minute once activated.
Would this somehow prevent the Strength and Intelligence damage attacks from Shadows and Exhiled Shades?
It seems like it should not, to me, but
Intelligence Damage (Su) An exiled shade’s touch clouds the target’s mind with anger and resentment, dealing 1d6 points of Intelligence damage. This is an emotion-based, mindaffecting, negative energy effect.
Strength Damage (Su) A shadow’s touch deals 1d6 points of Strength damage to a living creature. This is a negative energy effect. A creature dies if this Strength damage equals or exceeds its actual Strength score.

![]() |

Yeah I too have always been unsure on EXACTLY how that works but as written the int damage and str damage is negated.
I have also usually ruled that it causes a boost to those scores but I am less confident on that.

![]() |

Seems like it's probably more powerful than intended, but barring an FAQ or something, it does seem to work that way. I don't think I would give them a boost to those scores, but I would probably say it has no effect. That works thematically, too, since wayangs are from the shadow plane.

![]() |

From my reading of it, and after consulting with my usual in-person GM, I'd say it makes you immune, but you do not get a boost.
Light and Dark (Su): Once per day as an immediate action, a wayang can treat positive and negative energy effects as if she were an undead creature, taking damage from positive energy and healing damage from negative energy. This ability lasts for 1 minute once activated.
Undead Traits (Ex) Undead are immune to death effects, disease, mind-affecting effects (charms, compulsions, morale effects, phantasms, and patterns), paralysis, poison, sleep, stun, and any effect that requires a Fortitude save (unless the effect also works on objects or is harmless). Undead are not subject to ability drain, energy drain, or nonlethal damage. Undead are immune to damage or penalties to their physical ability scores (Strength, Dexterity, and Constitution), as well as to fatigue and exhaustion effects. Undead are not at risk of death from massive damage.
I'd say the key wording in Light and Dark is simply that you treat positive and negative energy effects is if she were and undead creature. The rest I'd consider a reiteration of the effects of how positive and negative energy interact with undead. By that token, i'd say since it's a negative energy effect, they are treated as undead, and undead traits say that they are immune to that effect.
My 2 coppers.

GM Fuzzfoot |

That was my call too, mainly because I think the intent is clear, and instant immunity to some fairly nasty undead seemed way overpowered. In a home game, it is an easy call - but PFS I like to do my due diligence.
In this particular case, the player has a boon they can use, but it reads exactly like Wayang.
I looked at dhampirs, and it is not as clear, but they also get the added bonus of being immune to negative levels (also listed as a negative energy effect). Since this is specifically called out, I would say Wayangs don't get that... so I would suspect they wouldn't get anymore than listed. I think the use of the phrase "as if she were an undead creature" is unfortunate. I don't think it means they get all of the undead traits.
It appears to be a split decision though, and mostly based on how truly picky of an interpretation of the language here. I truly think the intent is simply about HP damage. I am going to stick with my gut, though, and stick with Silbeg and Thrawn for now. (unless someone has a more definitive answer before I get to post back!)
Thanks!

![]() |

Personally, I would use chill touch as a model. The player takes no ability damage, but must make a Will save or suffer a secondary effect.

GM Fuzzfoot |

I like that. Not sure I can just implement it that way, though... maybe I'll just ask the player if they agree.

![]() |

Ouch, that's no fun. Let us know if you need any support running this stuff in the interim.

3 people marked this as a favorite. |

Thanks to Otha, my computer is working again, if not fixed. As long as that patch holds up for a couple of weeks, I should be back to normal posting on Monday.

![]() |

I am going to be heading up to Jim Con in Winnipeg MB on Friday... wasn't worried about it until I realized that the extension put the game on that weekend.
While I would normally just post as I could, this will be the final encounter, so I probably should get a backup to cover for this weekend, if anyone is available. Dates would be 11/17-11/19.
Thank you!

GM Cwethan |

Just finished up a fight about 5 minutes ago. Should/can I go ahead and forgo getting 1 (maybe 2) rounds into a fresh fight today since we're just going to move to Voice of the Shadow on the 15th?
