GM Shifty |
Each square of stairs would count as 2 squares, and with 30' move you could make a total of 12 squares of movement. Essentially you could make one move and be up and behind the party (B15), and hold a shot until the bugs move away and no longer provide cover, or just spend the double move and make is to the first bendy stairwell
Kishara |
What now? She'd have to use a full move to end up behind the party? I thought she was just behind the party now... In light of the news of how many rounds it will take her to even reach the balcony, I don't think that sounds like a workable plan, Grim.
Haemish the Unlucky |
Haemish kicks Lady into action. The wolf races forward, dodging past Tikrit, rushing towards the fire beetles in front of their antagonist. His lance in hand, he couches it in the crook of his arm, angling it in to strike at the vermin. As his weapon plunges into the beetle, Haemish calls out, "You'll be next, o Confidant One!"
First Ride checks to do what I do: Ride check to Fight with a Combat Trained Mount (DC 10): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11; Ride check to guide with knees (DC 5): Autosucceed; Lady double moves (not a charge) to O12 and Haemish attacks the beetle from reach: Lance attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17, damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
preemptive Ride check to undo damage against Lady: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
preemptive AoO attack against any enemy that moves through his threatened range: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Kishara |
Shifty, can you just move Kish to the most logical place and she'll fire a shot at the Bard. I'm a little confused about the levels and line of sight, etc to pick the spot.
Attack w/ Shortbow: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23 Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6
GM Shifty |
Yhen, Standard action ‘fight defensive’ +2, or total defence as a full round action for +4 :)
Kaneko, will do!
Haemish hurtles down the aisle atop Lady, his lance striking heavily into the side of one of the beetles, completely puncturing it and making a heck of a mess.
The bard looks furious and simply casts back at Haemish, A cloud of golden particles covers him and Lady in a very artistic display Glitterdust – DC18 for Hae and Lady or be Blinded – the Bard then slips to the side, but the moment he moves away from the bugs, Kishara takes her chance and looses her arrow – striking him neatly – but not fatally.
The remaining beetle steps forwards, gnawing at Haemish 1d20 ⇒ 14 If Haemish is Blind, that hits for 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Advance 30ft, cast Grease on the enemy but put the back two squares of the Grease behind him so people can get into melee with him without having to stand on it. DC 13 Reflex
Grimaldus |
Grim runs to O11 (standing next to Haemish and right in front of the bug), clanking down the isle with his great sword in one hand. He stops and prepares for the creature's potential attack, breathing slightly heavier than before. (Even his trained and toned body strains when running in full armor =)
Haemish the Unlucky |
"Lady, down!" Haemish calls out as he sees the glittering dust spreading out from the mage's outstretched hands. The halfling and the wolf both instinctively close their eyes at just the right time, avoiding the spell's blinding effects.
Haemish Will save: 1d20 ⇒ 19; Lady Will save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12; [dice=Using "shirt" reroll for Lady's Will save + 4 for GM Stars]1d20+2+4[/dice] First time I used my GM-star bonus on a reroll, woohoo!

Yhen, Standard action ‘fight defensive’ +2, or total defence as a full round action for +4 :)
Don't mean to contradict the GM, but "Total Defense" is a standard action (see PRD).
GM Shifty |
Now would you look at that, seems I was stiffed in a recent session - Standard it is - thanks for the pointer :)
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10 The fleeing Bard ends up going for a slide, landing with a thud on the floor.
Mandrak and Kaneko begin moving forward, Mandrak going wide of the battle to slip down the far aisle.
Kish, the chap is prone at the moment, which would give you a -4 to hit, or you could hold your action until he stands and tag him when he does.

Kish will use this round to catch up to the party as best she can. She gets nervous when the others are closer to the danger than she is...

GM Shifty |
Haemish swaps to his pick 1d20 ⇒ 181d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 and crumps the beetle mightily, but it remains in the game.
The beetle bites back at Haemish 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21 gnawing at him with reckless abandon 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Tikrit finishes his flit down the aisle, 1d20 ⇒ 9 avoiding the bugs bite and cleanly striking the bug, ending its existence.

Move to engage the Bard, avoiding the Grease. If I get an attack it seems fair touse the previous attack/damage rolls:
Attack!: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12 Damage: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 2) + 6 = 12
Haemish the Unlucky |
Haemish flicks bug guts from his pick and calls out to the bard, "Love what you've done with the place, Mr. Shadow Lodge, very bombed-out theater after the war, but you better surrender now or Grim will take you apart! Go, Lady, go!" The halfling kicks the wolf into a languid lope to challenge the bard. (Haemish calls out a Paw's Challenge on Mr. Shadow Lodge as a swift action. This adds to his damage and gives a +1 dodge bonus to Lady as well.; Ride check to Fight with a Combat Trained Mount (DC 10): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11; Ride check to guide with knees = Autosucceed; move to R8 and attack bard pick attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8; damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5; Lady bite attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18, bite damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3, free trip attempt: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16

Kishara advances steadily toward the stage, stopping to take one shot at the bard but aiming carefully to avoid hitting her comrades.
Attack w/ Shortbow: 1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (17) + 5 - 4 = 18 Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5

Kishara's arrow whips over the fellows head (He's prone, so its a further -4)
He casts quickly at Hae and Lady, twisting and moving as he does to avoid getting hit.

Kish abandons the bow for her rapier as she moves in to attack the prone bard.
Attack w/ Rapier: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8 Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6 Sneak attack: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

Well, there's only one thing to do when he's all dead. Go through his pockets and look for loose change (or other useful goodies!!)
And then figure out who this guy was and what he was up to...
Haemish the Unlucky |
As soon as he falls, Haemish jumps off of Lady, shouting "Stay!" at her in Halfling. He runs over to the downed man to see if he is still alive. If so, he tries his best to stabilize him. Heal check to determine if he's alive: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (9) - 1 = 8, Heal check to stabilize if he is: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (9) - 1 = 8
Haemish the Unlucky |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Haemish nods at Yhen's comment as he checks the fallen man, "I doubt this little bard is the brains behind the Shadow Lodge. When are bards ever the brains behind anything more complicated than an Andoran drinking song?"
Haemish the Unlucky |
Haemish turns to Kaneko while checking the fallen man and throws her his most mischievous grin, "Who said all halflings had to be kind? We don't all sit around, drinking and growing fat and jolly, you know."
GM Shifty |
Kishara (with a little cross checking amongst you) recalls that Pratt is a well-known, up and coming Pathfinder, and was supposed to be on an expedition to Arcadia that left months ago.
Pratt readily admits to being a member of the ‘Shadow Lodge’, he doesn’t beg for his life or complain about being defeated, instead staying stoic in the face of it all.
After persistent and pointed questioning he reveals that no one in the Shadow Lodge knows any beyond their own team in order to keep the order safe and secure, asked if he was the last of the Shadow Lodge in Kaer Maga, he laughs and says no without further elaboration.
Examining the papers the on the stage reveal them to be supply lists and a list of code names and dates. There is also a list of
cities on one sheet: Absalom, Sothis, Kaer Maga, Oppara, Whitethrone, and Almas. When asked about the names, dates, and cities, Pratt simply says, “We've been busy.”
Searching Pratt reveals a potion of cure moderate wounds, a scroll of invisibility, a scroll of silence; a +1 chain shirt, a rapier, and a masterwork shortbow with 20 arrows.
Interestingly, the potion bears the same etchings as the goblins’ potions did, obviously a common supply.
Over to you guys in tying up loose ends...
Grimaldus |
"Much as I'd like to mount his head on Kaneko's spear as a warning to others, we should probably take him back to headquarters for further questioning. And this time we take the direct route home! I suppose we should let our 'benefactor' here in Kaer Maga know of this, also..." Grimaldus ensures the man's hands are securely tied behind his back, binding his thumbs and elbows together for good measure. He then loops the rope down and around his ankles, like a horse's hobble. Finally, he gags the bard so he won't be able to mutter any spells. And if the man refuses to walk, well, then , he gets lifted up on Grimaldus' shoulder in an uncomfotable fireman's carry. (Which could prove interesting with half-plate armor!)
