Male Goblin Fighter 1 / Rogue 4

Vrealk grins and cracks his knuckles. "Me look at the door first. Everyone step back; me doesn't want anyone to get hurt."

Vrealk will take 20 while looking over the door for traps and such, for a result of 31.

GM

The Door seems to hold no magic, nor does it seem to harbor any traps. It is however very old and very heavy. It takes the combined might of most of the group to start it swinging inward on old and tarnished hinges. It echos with a loud grown as it gives way to spill into the room beyond.

The chamber seems to be a temple with a sand-covered floor. The room shows signs of damage, with cracks running across the floors, walls, and ceiling. In the center looms a huge and horrific many-tentacled creature apparently frozen in a shell of translucent minerals. A single line of runes is carved into the northern face of a low stone pedestal on which this immense monster seems to have been frozen.The words are in the very same tongue that first brought you down the hidden stairway.

Male Human Cleric 5

N'Djamena checks for magical auras again.

"Be wary of those runes," he suggests. "Perhaps they are holding this monster prisoner. It would be best not to disturb them."

"Markhet wonders if this is the point were people say "you were right Markhet we should have never doubted you, you are as smart as you are adorable*" or not?"

*Markhet deepens her voice at the quoted bit, clearly attempting to mimic one of the male PCs, but if that's N'Djamena or Kelden remains a mystery.

"This is so out of my league. We can't risk waking this thing up." Kelden steps out of the room.

Male Human Cleric 5

"If there is a danger beneath this building, it is better to know and be forewarned than to be ignorant and unpleasantly surprised one day. Praise Nethys for revealing this secret to our eyes!"

Male Goblin Fighter 1 / Rogue 4

Vrealk examines the statue without touching it, but only after N'Djamena checks for magic first.

Female Suli Bard 3/ Wizard 2

Ayish stays standing in the door way. Ready to give aid to her fellows...but also ready to run from the weird thing within the room.

Shamed by N'Djamena's words, Kelden begins to cautiously, tentatively approach the encased monstrosity. "I suppose ...we should ...at least ... look into ... it.

"Pa-leeeeze," Markhet scoffs at N'Djamena's words, "There could be danger in every hollowed out stump. It doesn't mean Markhet should stick her tiny arm inside to find out. Sometimes discovering that there's a hornets nest isn't worth the pain of finding out. Markhet wonders if this discovery is going to sting us now."

GM

Well Release the Kraken!, it triggers when Vrealk stepped near it.

When Vrealk stepped near the Stature, it shatters with a thunderous roar, the thine layer of glistening substance holding back the beast hits the floor, the walls and the party as so much shrapnel. The beast is now lose with its tentacles waving and its beaked maw snapping!

Init:

* Larrs rolled = 11
* Aysh = 7
* celena = 6

The map

"Markhet believes there will be much apologizing to a certain gnome and lion should we survive this," Markhet says as she casts produce flame.

Hey! Wait a minute. Why is Kelden all up front? ;} And just so we're clear, Markhet, it was N'Djamena who wanted to mess with this thing. I was all for just turning around and going home.

Male Goblin Fighter 1 / Rogue 4

"Damn!" is all Vrealk manages. He takes a double move to get in back of the thing so that he can flank with someone else.

Acrobatics to avoid AoO
1d20 + 13 ⇒ (1) + 13 = 14

Male Human Cleric 5

Hang on -- exactly when did the thing come to life? I'm assuming Vrealk didn't step on or over the runes since N'Djamena warned him about them.

Female Suli Bard 3/ Wizard 2

Ayish gasps in shock and fright as the Thing is released, before gathering her wits and preparing to fight/bolster her friends.

So...other than inspire, Ayish looks to be at the back and last for initiative.

and looking at the map why is Ayish so near the front?

Having looked at the map. I must say I am surprised at placings....

Very much cheers to all.

GM

Placement is based off statements, Vrealk went in the room, kelden was gonna go back and do roll, Ayish said she was standing in the doorway.

Vrealk tries to avid the tentacles as he retreats but does not as one slams into him 5hp

Init:

* Vrealk = 18 [went]
* N'Djamena = 17
* Sand Kraken =16
* Markhet = 12
* Kalden= 11
* Larrs rolled = 11
* Aysh = 7
* celena = 6

So Markhet has gone (casting a spell), I think we're waiting on N'Djamena, monster, and then Larrs, Kalden, Aysh, and Celena.

Male Human Cleric 5

N'Djamena takes a 5' step back and starts casting Call Lightning.

Female Suli Bard 3/ Wizard 2

Ayish raises her voice to inspire others.

Female Gnome Paladin 5

Wait to see what the monster does before posting Celena's actions.

GM

Sorry guys got busy this week.

As Ndjamerna steps back farther into the hallway to prepares to cast, the thing drags its way from the platform and attacks the two within the doorway. The thing lashes out with five of its tentacles at Ayish, only two landing blows 19 hp and grabbing the bard to drag her into the room and toward its beaked maw. The other five lash out at kelden, four of which hit him 24 damage, but he manages to stay from the things grasp.

Ugh, now my yahoo does not want to work...ugh...Ok in that case the map is more or less the same. Ayish has been drug into the room, N'djamerna is by Larrs and Vrealk is next to Celena

'Erk!' Ayish squeaks as she ends up some monster's chew toy.

Larrs charges into the room, all teeth and claws, and Markhet hangs onto her saddle for dear life with her left hand as her right is sheathed in living flame:

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 201d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

"Don't worry Ayish! Markhet and Larrs will save you!"

Ummm ... shouldn't I be behind it? I took a double move to get there. I don't think the AoO disrupts my move does it?

Male Human Cleric 5

N'Djamena will channel energy to heal his friends.

3d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 2) = 6

Male Goblin Fighter 1 / Rogue 4

I'm basing my attacks on being behind the creature and flanking with someone in front. If I'm not behind, let me know why and I'll revise my actions.

Vrealk attacks the creature with both of his daggers, trying to reach a soft spot.

attack 11d20 + 12 ⇒ (14) + 12 = 26
damage 1d3 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 plus 2d6 ⇒ (3, 2) = 5

damage 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 plus 2d6 ⇒ (4, 4) = 8

GM

Vrealk has been moved to the correct spot.

Larrs charges in, biting one of the tentacles holding Ayish as Markhet holds on for dear life. Kelden uses His wand and steps back into the room as Ayish screams and Celena charges, hamming the thing.

New round

N'Djamerna sends healing that some desperately need as Vrealk slices into the sand squid from behind! The creatuer constricts Aysh 8 hp and seems to take its full fury out upon Celena with a roar, it only manages to land three blows however 19 hp

I Am hoping people's healing will be enough to keep Ayish in the game.... Much cheers to all.

You could try praying to Nethys, considering he's the one keeping you alive at the moment. ;-)

GM

Markhet casts her spell and the Sand beast slams into her, garbing her from the saddle 10 hp, grappled Kelden casts his spell, unleashing flames across the beast but hitting it only once. Larrs now rider less attack the sand beast, but manages not to land a single blow as Ayish keeps screaming. Celena attacks once more , then heals herself.

round 3
* Vrealk = 18
* N'Djamena = 17 ( posted action)
* Sand Kraken =16
* Markhet = 12

Round 4

Vrealk = 18
* N'Djamena = 17
* Sand Kraken =16

Just a quick FYI, Markhet cast her spell before Larrs charged into the room. It's already active. All Markhet is doing is using it. Also, (not that it's going to matter much) I believe that there is a penalty for grappling multiple targets. However between Markhet's size and her pitiful STR I don't think that penalty is going to matter.

GM

Lars was in the room last round, he attacked it. With its reach if you were mounted on him, you were in AoO range when ya threw it as it was a ranged attack.

Male Human Cleric 5

Yeah, unless there are some special rules for a sand kraken the grappling seems kind of funny. Usually you need to spend a standard action to maintain a grapple, which means you can't full attack at the same time.

Keeper of Forbidden Lore wrote:

That's fine then, the way I was reading it I thought you seemed to think Markhet was casting a spell rather then activating a spell she'd already cast. The spell allows for the fire to be thrown or simply used as a touch attack so the grapple shouldn't affect the spell any.

Male Goblin Fighter 1 / Rogue 4

Vrealk attacks the thing again with his daggers, yelling out, "Me thinks once we kill it, it might taste good on the fire! Anyone ever have grilled squid?"

attack 1 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (4) + 12 = 16
damage 1d3 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 plus 2d6 ⇒ (5, 2) = 7

attack 2 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (12) + 12 = 24
damage 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 plus 2d6 ⇒ (1, 2) = 3

GM

Vrealk stabs at the Kraken, only hitting once as N'djamerna heals once more. But the beast is far from done, It squeezes Ayish and Markhet 9 and 10 hp It then goes after Celena and Kelden, Celena takes four hits and is grappled 31 hp and Kelden takes three hits and is also now encoiled by the Kraken 21 hp and it pulls Markhet to its beak to bit her as well 6 hp

Round 3
* Vrealk = 18 {went}
* N'Djamena = 17 ( posted action)
* Sand Kraken =16 {went}
* Markhet = 12
* Kalden= 11
* Larrs rolled = 11
* Aysh = 7
* celena = 6

Round 4

Vrealk = 18
* N'Djamena = 17
* Sand Kraken =16

These leaves 4 of you grappled

Female Suli Bard 3/ Wizard 2

Nope...Pretty sure that leaves Ayish completely squished.... :(

Unless she's been able to cast 'Cure light wounds' on herself with her Bard spells for a couple of rounds. Plus maybe any one else? Though I don't think any one else is within 'touching' range/reach? Ah well...

GM

She has been healed every time so far by N'djamerna. she is right at the edge and currently at 6 hp's

Female Suli Bard 3/ Wizard 2

Very much big thank'e to Master N'djamena. Hope any possible resulting provoked AoO's weren't too bad. ;)

SO, Ayish's next action, since she can take a 'Round out' with her lingering song feat, is to cast her own 'Cure Light Wounds' and try and take the strain off every one else. :) Much cheers to all.

No time to post again for a while. Feel free to work out any needed saves and dice results etc. Much cheers to all.

Male Human Cleric 5

N'Djamena channels again.
