Welcome to the Discussion tab! This game is for Gameday VII, the second session, starting on October 1st.
1. This discussion thread is open for all OOC matters, so no ooc tag needed. For OOC matters in the gameplay thread, please use the [ ooc ] tag.
2. Please post at least once a weekday, and at least once on weekends. If you would be away, please let me know in advance where possible, and we can work something out. Otherwise, if you go missing, where necessary, I will bot your characters for the sake of the rest of everyone else. Thus, it is a good idea is to leave botting instructions for normal combat (with dice rolls), space combat and non-combat in your profile page beforehand.
3. If you have any disagreements over some of my GM calls or interpretation of the scenario, please take it to the discussion thread or, even better, pm me.
4. If you have played and/or GMed this scenario before, please do not metagame or spoil the plot. And please let me know.
5. It is the responsibility of the player to keep track of the game, including referencing the map on google slides and moving your token.
Normal Combat
6. Once surprise (if any) and initiative is determined, for the group of characters who can take actions, I would resolve actions in posting order, NOT initiative order. I used to do the latter but it doesn’t work that well in PbP, so am going with the former instead.
7. There is no Space Combat in this scenario.
Rolls and Skill Checks
8. I will do your initiative rolls, as well as perception rolls for surprise rounds.
9. On knowledge checks for general information, sometimes I use spoilers, sometimes I fill you in based on your roll. I'll let you know each time it comes up. (Don’t forget that you can make knowledge checks untrained for DC10.)
10. On skill checks where there could be team effort involved, please be explicit when making the rolls whether you are attempting the check on your own, or whether you are aiding. There might be situations where only one character is allowed to attempt the check (and the rest to aid) – I’ll state so explicitly if that’s the case.
11. On skill checks in general, if I feel you have roleplayed well, e.g. gave a good description of what your character does to search for a trail, came up with creative ways to befriend a hostile NPC, gave a very rousing speech, I often give bonuses.
Roleplaying Matters
12. The maps and handouts link (at the top of the page, and my statblock) will display all the maps, handouts, pictures, etc as the scenario progresses. (Incidentally, Android and IOS has the Google Slides app in case you work off mobile devices.)
13. Please have your full character information up on your character's profile page. Also, please have your stat block updated with the key information.
Feel free to chat over the next month or so, but make sure you dot in so that we're ready to go in August!

I'm good to start whenever. Popper isn't currently in any games, so whatever works for the GM and everyone else.
Oh, and a proper Day Job roll. I didn't realize at the time of that post, that you actually roll for Day Job at the start of a scenario for extra cheddar!
Profession (herbalist): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22
I added a profession kit and the bonus from wearing a professional outfit so I think that's right, but if you want to check my math to make sure I'm not missing anything? If I did, it's easy enough to adjust my roll.

Yes, the original start date was October 1st. I moved that back a bit, to 10/6, due to the outages. At one point, that was when the special was supposed to end. (Before they got it back on track.) But I'm willing to start it before then.
Is anyone's character still in a game?

I did not sign any characters up for both sessions, so it's not a character conflict, it's just a bandwidth issue. I would actually prefer to delay the start date until a little after Oct. 1 for that reason.

Bit random, but I do wish they'd upload some Starfinder-specific avatars. Using an ankheg is making me sad. Popper is ugly, but he's not *that* ugly.

I do have the barricade feat..but that would mean 1 move and then getting some cover as opposed to going at a full run for 4 times the speed
So the choice is slow approach with something resembling decent AC and getting shot at 4 times as much or being an easy target (but getting shot at less).
I'm pretty sure that the extra AC won't compensate for the extra 3 shots they get to take in the time it would take us to get there.
I need to be within 120 feet before my magic missiles can reach them..which is running for 2 more rounds and then another normal move..so 3 rounds before I can start to damage them.
I can't think of anything better then to rush them and hope for the best

Out of character..having them working with the Society sounds like the nicest option..but then they get to keep "watching over the eoxian menace" ..which sounds like they will keep up their terrorist organisation. If they just watch and don't take action that's what I would go for..but I don't think they'd only watch.
And handing them over also seems wrong..since then they will be hunted and exterminated.
Remain neutral sounds like both might/will happen..so that's not an option either.
I think Af'val in character would still be annoyed by them shooting at him and since he's working for the other side..I think he would be in favor of handing the terrorists over

Is there any context around why we would sympathize with the sarcesians?
From what I can tell so far, they're an unlawful, borderline terrorist group. The eoxians may have devious ulterior motives on the galaxy but they are a founding Pact Worlds member and I think lore-wise, they did the heavy lifting in getting the Pact signed.
I guess I don't know the story behind the sarcesians.

It's not an easy choice intentionally. There's basically four options in front of you. But I do want to clarify:
Up until recently, the Wings of Damiar have only killed mindless undead and worked to slowdown the dig sites that get close to their hideout. The terrorist thing was a rogue part of their group. Primarily, they just watch. (Now, they're obviously very hardcore and it wouldn't be surprising to see something like this happen again.)
They do have some right to be mad. Eoxians and Sarcesians are racial enemies. (Worse than pathfinder orks and dwarves.) They've fought for millennia, with the culmination of the eoxians blowing up both Sarcesian home worlds. In response, the Sarcesians triggered a trap, which failed, sending Blackmoon down to crush a major eox city. (It should have decimated the whole planet, hence the failure.)
But you're right. Today, both races are members of the Pact Worlds, with eox being the founding member.

Ahhh.... Okay, that helps put some context around things. In character, I'm gonna say Ratatat will want nothing to do with escalating a millennia-old conflict between two races that have attempted genocide against each other.
