It's getting close! Please post with your characters in here. If I don't hear from someone by Wednesday the 23 I'll start tapping people on the waitlist.
Also feel free to ask any build or rules questions!

For some reason I had completely forgotten I'd signed up for this! As much as I'd love to try playing this I am already pushing the limits of what I feel I can handle with the other GameDay IV games I'm playing. So I'll regretfully be giving up my seat. Sorry and the best of luck with your game!

Hey all! Azih here and Excited to do this thing!

Damaya Lashunta Xenoseeker Envoy, face, some skills, would do well in captain role if needed but could switch to science officer.
I'll try and find a reasonable avatar.

Haven't dotted all the i's and crossed all the t's yet, but Kai will be a Human Operative Spacefarer. +12 piloting, but he's a skill monkey so he can do okay in literally any of the roles. He's not really your typical operative though. At level 1 he'll be almost a deadweight in interpersonal combat and he's not really one for subterfuge (no bluff or intimidate. Yet.).

Is Pangea a Technomancer or an Operative?
Kai is actually okay in combat. He's just not up to what I expect from an effective 1st level Pathfinder character. I think non soldiers in Starfinder may be a lot less effective than non Martials were in Pathfinder. We'll see.

Hi, I don't have the CRB yet so I'll be running one of the pregens. What class is everyone?
So far I see a Technomancer, Envoy, operative, mystic, and mechanic. Sounds like I should either pick Soldier or Solarian. Solarian is a lot more complex when I don't have the book yet so Soldier it is! I'll make a character soon.

I think Kai is all ready to go. I need to read up on the reactions so I'll know which one for him to slot.
When do we get a gameplay thread?

Free "bullets"!
Maybe you all spotted this in the FAQ:
Most weapons are sold fully loaded, and their listed bulk includes the bulk of their ammunition. For weapons that are sold without ammunition (such as grenade launchers and missile launchers), the bulk listed with the weapon is still the bulk of a fully loaded weapon.
Just in case you missed it... I love it (I created a Soldier, with a pistol... but no bullets! Had no Credits left after Heavy Armor and Pike!).

Ooohhhhhh. Dang. I'll read up on the factions again tonight and pick one. That's cool!

You can use boons when playing a pregen. Though the pregen characters will not likely have any boons, you can always slot a faction's champion boon or a promotional boon regardless.

Page 7 of the SFS Guide in the PreGen Chapter:
When applying credit, any Reputation gained during an adventure can only be applied to a faction for which the character receiving the credit already has a champion Faction boon.
Also, you do not slot boons during character creation, you slot them (normally) after the GM has run the intro' to the scenario, like after the Venture Captain gives the mission to the PCs etc..
You can change boons at each adventure.

At character creation, your character can join for one of fve
factions. Your character can champion multiple factions during the
course of her career, but she must select a single faction to start
with. You gain the champion boon (listed in Appendix 2: Factions)
associated with that faction.
Every faction offers unique boons that allow a character to
champion that faction. As described in Appendix 1: Character
Creation, characters receive a champion Faction boon for one
of the fve major factions during character creation. The name
of these boons is universally [Faction Name] Champion. These
boons allow the character to earn Reputation with the associated
faction after successfully completing a scenario. Throughout a
character’s career, she can purchase additional faction champion
boons to allow her to champion additional factions.
So it seems like I need to choose a particular faction to champion, and get the champion boon from, when I create the character, and then I can spend fame to add champion boons from other factions. I don't know if this can be done with a pregen though.

| 1 person marked this as a favorite. |
When you create a character, you get a "free" XXX-Champion boon (the XXX being one of the Factions, of your choosing).
So, you can thereafter slot this Boon when the game starts (at the Boon-slotting moment spelled out by the DM re. the scenario).
If you are playing a pre-Gen, I do not know if you truly slot the Faction Boon on your pre-Gen, but you "slot" it on the character that will receive credit from the scenario (remember, that can be later on, if you are playing a pre-Gen of higher level than the PC you want to credit).
And, yes, you can purchase other Faction-Champion boons w. Fame, and thus choose to slot them instead of your first free one, to share the Faction love.
But, for now, you have 1 Faction of your choice Champion boon on your PC.
You are playing a Pre-Gen (who probably does not slot the boon per se).
When the game is over, if you survive and get Fame etc., you credit your PC and your PC can apply this credit to any Faction Boon it already has (meaning the only one you have).

Pangea, found it! Believe you're referencing the bottom paragraph?
You have brought an accessory that displays your visible support to Paizo’s organized play program. This grants you a skill bonus based on the faction your accessory promotes.
Prerequisites: Bring and display a qualifying faction pin to the game.
Benefit: Once per session, while wearing a Starfinder Society Roleplaying Guild Faction Pin matching the faction’s champion boon your character currently has slotted, you may add 2 to any skill check. If you apply this benefit to one of your faction's favored skills, listed below, you instead roll 2d4 and add the result. For this roll you also treat the faction's favored skill as if you were trained, even if you don't have a rank in it.
Acquisitives: Bluff and Profession
Dataphiles: Computers and Engineering
Exo-Guardians: Athletics and Intimidate
Second Seekers (Luwazi Elsebo): Diplomacy and Perception
Wayfinders: Life Science and Survival
Alternatively, once per scenario, while wearing a Pathfinder Society Roleplaying Guild Faction Pin, you may add 2d4 to a Culture skill check. For this roll you also treat Culture as if you were trained, even if you don’t have a rank in it.

I'm trying to avoid the massive opportunity this section has for meta, but if anyone is a bit lost of what to do the scenario says you can each choose one of these upgrades per success. They are not exclusive either, so they stack. E.G. 3 successes can increase the base speed by 15ft.
I'll list the number of success each person has made in the gameplay thread as they roll. Please ask any questions about this part in here too.
*The vehicle’s base speed increases by 5 feet.
*The vehicle gains a +1 Piloting modifier.
*The vehicle gains a +1 attack modifier.
*The vehicle gains a +2 bonus to its EAC.
*The vehicle gains a +2 bonus to its KAC.
*The PCs install a basic energy weapon on the vehicle (imposes a –4 base Piloting penalty on a hit).
*The PCs install a basic kinetic weapon on the vehicle (imposes a –4 base Piloting penalty on a hit).
*The PCs upgrade a weapon to impose an additional –2 penalty to enemy Piloting checks on a successful hit.

So I'd like to actually apply the credit from this to my -702, who I haven't created yet, because I got a chance to play this in a FLGS the other day with my -701. I'll avoid using my ooc knowledge, of course.

All good, and sorry for this lame pacing. Totally not what I had planned but we know how life goes. That was by far the most intensive mission so we should be better from here.

Hello!
I will be flying out on Thursday, Oct' 5 (tomorrow) and then back on Monday, Oct' 9, and will be out in the Romanian countryside in between those dates.
I've arranged to have Internet access, so I should be able to post a couple times a day.
But I am giving this warning, so, in case I go dark, it'll be because something went wrong, so just bot me for those days if it happens.

Hello all!
Tomorrow morning I'm off to Austria. Will be working a few days outside Vienna, and then moving to Vienna for a couple nights.
Should have Internet all the time, and be able to post twice a day, but, since I'm travelling for a week you never know what might wrong: in case I disappear that'd be the explanation.

sorry for my absence. On top of a very busy work week, Wayfinder seems to be broken, so when I have had time to post I haven't been able to. I will try to post from my mobile browser going forward, but it is considerably more time consuming, so I won't be able to get through as many games with the time I do have.

Hello everyone! Your GM has requested backup in completing this scenario in time for the GameDay ending. I am that backup! From what I've seen, you've completed the race in 1st place, you've picked up the album (resulting in Chogas and Kai suffering from fatigue) and you are currently in the warehouse on a monster hunt.
I'll spend the first couple days here feeling out the group's post rates so I can get an idea what our schedule looks like, and then if it seems as though we'll need some shortcuts to get us through in time, I'll go over those with you.
