sorry to thread Jack, but Nelrem if you want a Glorian weapon, take a look at the Campagin setting on pages 208 and 209. If you want a decent weapon that while not as powerful as the mercurial long sword is Glorian flavored. I see 3 options:
1. Falcata 16 gp 1d6 1d8 19-20/x3 — 4 lb. Slashing
Falcata: The traditional weapon of Taldor, the falcata has
a single edged, concave blade and a hook-shaped hilt often
stylized in the shape of a horse. Its shape distributes the
weight to give it the momentum of an axe with the cutting
edge of a sword.
Its an exotic weapon, but it has a X3 crit with a decent threat range.
If you are an elf there is the
2. Curved blade, elven 24 gp 1d10 2d6 x3 — 7 lb. Slashing
Curved Blade, Elven: A longer version of the normal
kukri but with a thinner blade, elven curved blades
are rare even in Kyonin. When using an elven
curved blade, you gain a +2 bonus on
opposed attack rolls to disarm an opponent
(including the roll to avoid being disarmed
if such an attempt fails).
It is an exotic heavy blade but a martial weapon if you are an elf.
3. Dueling sword, Aldori 20 gp 1d6 1d8 19–20/x2 — 3 lb. Slashing
Dueling Sword, Aldori: You can use the Weapon Finesse
feat to apply your Dexterity Modifier instead of your Strength
modifier on attack rolls with an Aldori Dueling Sword sized
for you, even though it isn’t a light weapon. You may wield
an Aldori dueling sword in two hands in order to apply 1-1/2
times your Strength bonus to damage, even when using it with
Weapon Finesse. These swords are about 3–1/2-feet long, very
slightly curved, and sharp only along the outer edge.
Also some neat feats that go with them:
1.Taldorian Duelist
You graduated from one of Taldor’s elite fighting schools and
are skilled in Rondelero, the art of fighting with the falcata
and buckler.
Prerequisite: Dex 13, Exotic Weapon Proficiency (falcata),
Weapon Focus (falcata), proficient with a buckler, Taldor affinity.
Benefit: When fighting with the falcata and buckler,
your shield bonus to AC increases by +1 and you
gain a +2 circumstance bonus on Balance and
Tumble checks.
Special: A fighter may select Taldorian
Duelist as one of his bonus fighter feats, as
long as he originated in Taldor.
and
2.Aldori Dueling Mastery [Local]
Your mastery of the Aldori dueling style sets you apart from
even the other swordlords.
Prerequisites: Dex 17, Greater Weapon Focus (Aldori
dueling sword), Weapon Finesse, Weapon Focus (Aldori
dueling sword), Weapon Specialization (Aldori dueling
sword), base attack bonus +12, proficient with Aldori
dueling sword, member of Aldori school.
Benefit: You can make one additional attack each
round with an Aldori dueling sword (whether wielded with
one hand or two). The attack is at your highest base attack
bonus, but each attack you make in the round (the extra
one and the normal ones) takes a –2 penalty. You must
use the full-attack action to use this aspect of the feat.
In addition, when you wield an Aldori dueling sword
with two hands, you deal +1d4 points of extra damage
with each hit (even attacks of opportunity) and
gain a +2 shield bonus to your AC. These
latter bonuses stack with those gained from
Weapon Focus and Weapon Specialization.
Creatures immune to critical hits and
sneak attacks are also immune
to the extra damage your Aldori
dueling style deals.
I highly recomend this book for your campaign Ross its very helpful and detailed! anyway sorry for the thread jack. If this is inappropriate please delete this post.

Sword and Fist, but I assumed as it was part of the variant for weapon profs that it would be OK, glad I asked about it. I may have to rethink weapon prof choices but that wont take long.
edit: though the Elven Curved Blade may be the winner, it's the same concept I wanted with the Mercurial. Just a big exotic 2hander that not many know how to use.

You'll be happy you did, hey If I don't promote the book, I think the Paizians may be mad at me for posting all its glory, if u need the feat replacement here it is:
Arcane Duelist (Su): Wizards with this ability are specially
trained to push their spells when needed to gain the upper
hand. When pushing a spell, the wizard can choose one of
the three following effects: increase a spell’s DC by +1, add
+2 to the level check to overcome spell resistance, or add
a +2 morale bonus on attack rolls made with the spell. A
wizard can use this ability a number of times per day equal
to his Intelligence bonus. Using this ability is a swift action.
You have to be trained by the Arcanamirium and it replaces the scribe scroll ability...Hey Ross tell me to shut up at anytime, I am just jelous you guys r doing 2nd Darkness!!!

Well I want to take a wolf for an animal companion but I just want to clarify whether it will be with me when i start since its a gambling tournament I dont see them allowing a big wolf into the place. also one of my traits relys's on one of the others inviting me along.
Regarding the wolf: You are allowed a wolf animal companion. However, you are correct in your assumption that you'd have to leave it outside the gambling hall.
If you cannot be invited by a (future) party member, feel free to invent an NPC friend.

My background had me in prison the last few years, Giving me a few days at best to meet the other PCs, unless they (for some reason) know my sister, a cleric of Sarenrae, who eventually got visiting rights.
I could be 'known' however as that guy that decided to stay in prison for his full sentence and not leave early.
I liked the Traits: Dangerously Curious (Magical) and Killer (Combat). I didn't pick a campaign trait however, and I have no problem with starting solo or knowing one of the other PCs.
Having a Curved Blade may have drawn Vengence's eye at some point as it lists them as rare, and I would assume typically Elven weapons not humans.

Well it suggests you should use one but it's not a requirement as I read it. None of the campaign traits fitted my back story(not even Optimistic Gambler) and I wasn't willing to try and squeeze one of the others into it so I'll stick with the ones I have.
Besides my back story already contains a hook to the storyline

I saw the blurb in the guide book "One of your Traits must be a Campaign trait chosen from the list starting on page 14 — this trait ties your character into the Second Darkness storyline and gives you a built-in reason to begin the first adventure, 'Shadow in the Sky.'" and thought different. I can see me grabbing the feat to get 2 more traits at level three though, some are kinda neat.

Mel works 'his' way up through the tiers of the arena towards the Managers box. Down on the sand below the three still living young Shoanti warriors out of the five who commenced the combat face off against a raging gore bespattered Minotaur. The young rogue grimaces at the baying of the crowd ...they want blood and it doesn't matter whose it is.
No one here is really paying much attention to the slight youth...not the crowd, not the vendors selling ale and hot sausages to them, not the sad and bedraggled whores who work the arches of the arena for a few measly coppers a time and who have lean't not to bother trying to attract his attebtion.
Nodding to the heavies who block the way for the general audience she slips into the box..the 'Old Man' and some of his Capps are there some wagering on the match, others indulging in whatever pleasures they fancy be it food, drink or women.
Clegg Zincher looks round his senses telling him off her entrance even over the noise.
"Ah Mel....you got the papers"
"Yes Guvner, the bills of sale made out by the Magnimarian merchants for all the 'goods' we brought in last week and proof that our taxes were paid in full"
"Good, Good that should keep the bastards off our backs for a bit"
The crimelord offers Mel a plate of sweetmeats which she politely declines
"Suit yourself"....A shout goes up from the Arena as one of the Shoanti scores a telling hit on the Bull-man "Dammit....I thought that thing would last longer than a month..."
As the three barbarians close in for the kill he turns back to Mel
"I've got a job for you...that swine Vancaskerkin..you heard he's got a new place right"
"Yes Guv" the youth tries to avoid looking down towards the bloodbath
"I want you to go have a look, see what 'e's up to...there's sumthin' going down there soon I can feel it in me water. Find out who 'is backers are if yer can"
"Have a look at 'is place, see what's 'appening and who 'is backers are...right Guv...."
"There's some sort of bash there tonight...something about beating the devil...hah that useless sod couldn't beat a two year old..could he boys"
A huge roar erupts, drowning out the lieutenants laughter, as the Minotaur falls taking one of the Shoanti with him. The two survivors stare at each other for a second in disbelief before beginning to acknowledge the crowd.
"Farkin Hell....some one get that hunk of beef out of my arena...and feed it to the tigers. Set up for the elimination bouts."
"Ok ...you've got your job..do alright on this and you're in for good...course if you fail me..." the heavy set mob boss lets the unspoken threat hang in the air
"Don't worry Boss I'll not let you down" the youths words belie the nervous flutter in her stomach
"One more thing...same as usual..if you get's a sniff of that cow Lavender Lil...you let me know at once y'hear"
"Yes Guvner, I know"
"This'll cover your entrance to Van's place"he flips Mel a Gold piecenow get out..I've got a business to run."
Zincher turns to annouce the winners as Mel slips out of the box and down towards the exit

Araevin Raunaeril |

Ive also changed my campaign trait to fools for friends with Araevin being the friend (If he could have a look at the background and tell me what he thinks I would be gratefull)
Sounds great. That does sum up some of Araevin's.......more challenging characteristics :)
