She advances to stand beside Saif, glancing up at the Cleric, then gripping her shortspear tightly.

Zenovia says, "Necromancy or not, we need to take a closer look at that tomb for clues. There has to be a reason why that place in particular was grave robbed by the Goblins. I do not see Goblins being the type to munch on old bones. They wanted the body of whoever was in that tomb."

"Agreed. Goblins may be clever, but this is a little too clever, yes?"

Kror leads the way down into the main body of the crypt, his dwarven sight allowing him to see more than the rest of you as the light from Saif's spell only helps so much. It is evident this ability comes in very handy as you hear him in the darkness ahead ready his weapon and at the edge of the magical light, you glimpse the movement of humanoid bones coming straight for you.

Zenovia yells in Celestial and raises her left hand. The birthmark on her hand glows. "By the light of Sarenae I cleanse these tainted bones of evil and send them to their proper rest"

Channel Positive Energy to damage undead 1d6 ⇒ 1, BLEH 1 damage.

Though the skeletons seem fast, they are not fast enough to escape the direct blast from Cedric's thrown explosive. Bone shards and fragments fly in all directions, some cutting small scratches in your skin, some disintegrating into nothingness as Zenovia finishes her words. After that, the chamber is silent.

You are standing in a small room with a massive sarcophagus in the center. The lid has been removed and laid aside. A small pile of cloth lies in one corner. Saif recognizes it as the one giving off the faint energy.

Don't worry about using up one of your channels for today, Zenovia. DM Fiat for special effects...

Is there anything to indicate whose sarcophagus this was?

Was the occupant one of those that you just blasted apart do you suppose Zenovia? Maybe something valuable or powerful was interred with the body?

The name scribed into the lid of the sarcophagus reads Ezakien Tobyn. You know this to be the previous religious leader of Sandpoint.

Zenovia says, "All Undead are abominations to the natural order. I have no regrets of what had to be done. Proper rest has been given to the tainted bones. The divine light destroys only the undead not the objects they might have on them so if they had anything of value I do not see it."


After the destruction of the undead, Nar'a cautiously follows the others in to the tomb. Picking her way through the bony debris, she looks for anything that may indicate what was stolen.

Perception 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (18) + 0 = 18

The sarcophagus is completely empty. Whatever was in here is gone. The only other thing here is the robe you find laying in the corner.

Nar'a carefully approaches the robe in the corner, reaching out and lifting it up with the tip of her spear.

You hear the sheriff mumbling something from above, but you can't quite make it out.

Nar'a quickly checks the robe for any pocket contents then leaves it in the corner in a heap.

Looking about once more, she says "Let's see if we can tell where the tomb robbers came from....any trackers among us?"

Cedric looks for the tracks and begins following them if he can.

It is easy enough to find the tracks as you leave the tomb. Sheriff Belor simply watches as Cedric follows the trail to the wall surrounding the cemetery. It is obvious they must have somehow climbed the wall.

Zenovia Marilis follows the tracks with the others and then says, "So the little buggers appear to have dragged something from the tombs away from it. We should ask the priest whose grave that was as it may be relevant to why it was taken."

DM insert: If you remember back a ways, the party was told that it belonged to Ezakien Tobyn, the former priest.

"Ah right it was Ezakien Tobyn the former priest of this temple. Indeed, if it is the body of a holy man it may be something that might be used in a foul ritual of some kind. Rituals that the Goblins would not be opposed to perform. Still if they wanted the body, why wait this long to claim it?"

Sheriff Belor speaks up. "That's what I am hoping you and your friends can find out for us. I have enough trouble with the clean up process after the raid, this doesn't need to go any further than us."

"I think the need for his body was only recent. Maybe whoever is leading these goblins is in need of it. It seems our investigation is only increasing our questions. Do you anything more of this Tobyn?

Sheriff Belor speaks up, clearly recalling facts more than experience. "Ezakien Tobyn was a priest of Desna and the religious figure of Sandpoint until the Late Unpleasantness. He died in the fire at the church, along with his adopted daughter, Nualia. He was well liked and respected here in town by many. Not much is known about Nualia though, but rumor had it that she was a blessed child. She could heal wounds with a touch and more superstitious things like that. It was a sad night indeed for Sandpoint."
