Sativon disappears behind some crates and wagons, slipping between buildings towards the sounds of the other flanking group of goblins. Dodging between two stacks of crates, he sees another of the riding goblins and a few other ones all menacing someone hiding behind a barrel. Kerak and Grip have also arrived as well.
Cedric arrives shortly after, followed by Nar'a with Zenovia trailing behind at a safe distance.
The mounted goblin doesn't seem to care that he is becoming surrounded and fires a quick shot from his bow at Kerak, but only scoring a hit on the wallpost behind the barbarian.
Burma is up next. I pulled Galt out because I haven't heard from him in a while.. There are 3 goblins plus the one riding and a man hiding behind a barrel.

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

Burma races behind the others, magic building in her hands. As soon as she sees the first goblin, she let's the magic fly into its face, and it is briefly affected, but just as quickly shakes off the spell, anger instead covering its grungy face as it charges right at her. It is stopped short however by a giant crab that reaches out from beneath a table and snags its leg. It swears in Goblin as it attempt to shake off the crustacean's grip.
Kerak and Kane are up next, I will save Kror and Zhang's actions for their turns. Low initiative rolls this round guys..

Kerak attacks a goblin while Grip works on the one he has.
"The Crab King tolerates no goblins!"
Power Attack (greataxe): 1d20 + 4 - 1 ⇒ (6) + 4 - 1 = 9, Damage: 1d12 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 4 + 3 = 18
Claw 1: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14, Damage: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Claw 2: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6, Damage: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Grab (if applicable): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
These dice...

![]() |

You roll for init every round instead of at the beginning of combat?
Anyway, Kane moves to the nearest goblin and attacks. attack: 3 + 1d20 ⇒ 3 + (11) = 14
damage: 3 + 2d6 ⇒ 3 + (5, 6) = 14 slahing damage, I hope 14 is a hit, crosses fingers.

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

Exactly as Saif said. It feels more realistic with the chaos of combat and it gets players to pay closer attention both pbp and irl gaming. I was always a big fan of SpyCraft's fluid initiative system for that reason, just not the extra bookkeeping..
Kerak heads towards one of the other goblins taking a mighty swing with his axe, but the craven creature is faster and ducks underneath the dangerous blade. Instead, the weapon neatly cleaves a support pillar in two, sending a ruffle of tent cloth falling towards them both. The goblin fights to get at Kerak, but only manages to cut random holes in the material.
Both of you are entangled at the moment.
As Kerak's pet wrestles with the goblin it grabbed earlier, Kane bounds over a bench and cleanly removes that goblin's head, sending it flying into the air.
The man behind the barrel dares to stand briefly, "Yes!"He then quickly cowers back down due to a glare from the riding one.
Saif is up next, then a goblin, then everyone else...Zhang, Dacar, Titinambule, Kror.

Dacar Ghrunt |

Dacar closes in to his range, preparing another bomb as he goes. In preperation he aims the bomb so that it misses his allies. Know it won't do full damage but hoping the splash damage wounds it badly.
Atk:: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
aiming for the best square to do less damage to party. -4 if it ends up attacking into combat

Saif al-Din of the Fiery Sun |

Sorry, GF had me bail out this weekend so she could spend time with me n_n
Running over to a goblin, and hoping that Sarenrae guides his blade since his own ability appears lacking, Saif attempts to take the thing out. "How dare you threaten these people!"
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Narrowly missing the little thing...

![]() |

After the goblin goes, Kane will go up to it and attack. attack: 3 + 1d20 ⇒ 3 + (11) = 14 he might be flanking for a 16 considering how many meleers would be on this thing.
damage: 3 + 2d6 ⇒ 3 + (5, 3) = 11

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

Saif surges forward and exchanges blows with one of the goblins, but neither gain the upper hand.
Zhang notices that so far, no one has attacked this rider, and for good reason. He is ready for Zhang's attack and swiftly dodges out of the way of it, but Titinambule's spell temporarily catches him off guard with a blast of light, sending him and his mount and the goblin that Saif was fighting crashing to the ground, unconscious.
Dacar's bomb explodes after this, surprising everyone, but only succeeding in destroying a defenseless barrel of pickles.
Kror wastes no time and charges in to finish off the lead goblin, raising his axe high and drops it, severing its head from the its body.
Kane follows his cue and finishes off the goblin stuck in the tent by waiting for the right moment to strike and neatly piercing the material and the goblin inside.
For now, the fight is over. Seeing this, the man hiding behind the barrel slowly stands, beginning to clap his hands together. He is wearing what might have been fine clothes if it wasn't for the blood and soot and sweat covering it.
"By the gods! You have saved me. I owe you all so much. How can I ever repay you?"

![]() |

Just pay it forward. And you might want to check into getting the town some guards, we can't be here forever to protect it from goblins.
Kane searches the goblins and whatever belonged to them for treasure. He promises he will share, but someone has to search the bodies and claim the gold.

![]() |

Kane is happy to hear the crab kings words. You sir are a man of honor, but will you always be here in town to protect it, or will you be off adventuring? I believe you man, but what are you going to do if they attack the town when you aren't here?

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

The man offers his hand to each of you, after wiping it mostly clean on his outfit. "Foxglove. Aldern Foxglove. I am mostly," he looks himself over, "unhurt. You folks did a handy job of cleaning up the mess of goblins that attacked. I'm sure the sheriff will want to thank you. Speaking of.." He trails off looking toward the sheriff who is now walking up to you with Father Zantus in tow.
He points a couple of town militia to take care of the unconscious goblins and remove the bodies of the dead ones before walking up to you.
"Adventurers. I was hoping you would stick around. We don't usually get this many of you in one place, Festival not withstanding. It seems your arrival points to ill omens afoot. I would hope that this means you are here to help Sandpoint in some way. The mayor would like to speak with you in the morning. Father Zantus here has offered a place to sleep for all of you at the temple for the night."
The priest nods. "Yes, in the morning, all of us would like to speak with you. Come, I'll show you to the arrangements I've set up for you."

![]() |

"I love sleeping! You have a deal." Kerak responds and follows eagerly. Grip chatters and remains still, as though waiting to be invited. Eventually however, he scurries along behind.

![]() |

Zenovia Marilis nods to the militia and says, "I will certainly meet with your mayor on the morrow. But for today I must do what I must and see to the injured and the dying. If it is all right with you I would like to put myself at your disposal. My goddess would want me to ease the pain of those suffering due to this attack."
To speed things alone Zenovia spends the day healing people of the town for free, expending all her channels and spells as well as stabilizing the dying and binding wounds. She declines staying at the temple though, returning to the Rusty Dragon where she has her equipment stored and rests the night in her pre-paid room.

Cedric Freeson |

Cedric becomes a little anxious when he sees the sheriff approach, but settles down once he realizes he's not in trouble.
"I appreciate the offer but I think I'll stick to my room at the rusty dragon. It still has most of my gear set up there. I'm also in the middle of an experiment there and don't wish to see what happens if I leave it unentended all night."

Saif al-Din of the Fiery Sun |

Saif will drop spells for the day to heal, and use his channels as well to heal as many people as possible.
Turning to Father Zantus, he nods but looks to the crowd. "I thank you, kind Father, but your townsfolk need help now. Allow me to assist them and I will most readily follow you to these arrangements. Thank you again."
He then wades into the crowd.
"Come, receive the blessings of Sarenrae. Let her divine warmth wash over you, ease your pains and lift your spirits!"
If the consecration does continue, he will still assist in helping consecrate the shrine to Sarenrae.

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

Father Zantus nods. "We gratefully accept your help in healing the wounded."
Those helping the wounded spend most of the night seeing to the needs of the town and then following Father Zantus to the new temple. He postpones the consecration until the morning when all has been discussed, citing that he and all others need rest. There are several litters setup for the severely wounded in the temple and he sees to acolytes helping care for them, offering a chance for all of you to help.
Those of you staying at the temple continue in this thread.
Those of you going to the Rusty Dragon for the night, go here.

Kror Stormshield |

I guess that this thread is for continuing on to Second Darkness and the other thread is for staying in town for Rise? Either way Kror would certainly spend the night in the bar, not the temple.
Kror's willing enough to help carry anyone grievously wounded to the temple, but eventually will wander off to find a tavern.

Dacar Ghrunt |

Friend Burma is right, I still need to check in with the merchant, though I for one hope its not a "fool's errand. Dacar smirks as he says this, hoping people pick up on the fact that like most dwarves he sill believes in lost sky citadels.
On his way back to the inn, Dacar spends a moment to use his healing on a severely hurt festival goer. Aiming to help a child before an adult, but will do what he must. Once back, he takes a seat calling for a barmaid to bring him something strong.

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

We will probably jump back and forth between threads until each group is established for which part of the campaign. Regardless, remember that this is a story and as such, groups may change throughout based on campaign activities...

Saif al-Din of the Fiery Sun |

Saif assists as much as he can, bandaging and healing as needed. His hands and portions of his clothes are soon covered in blood, but thankfully his job appears to be slowing down finally. "Blessed Sarenrae, I thank you for your assistance in helping mend these peoples wounds."
He then washes up and lays on a litter, passing out until morning.

![]() |

Titinambule shake his head saddly when he sees destruction bring by this saddistic goblins.
Such a shame. A great day like today, wasted by this......
And he kick a dead goblin corpse.
Then, after somes long minutes, he turn on the discussion.
Sorry. I'm happy if I can help.
But Titinambule sees again the ravaged town, tears in his eyes.

Sativon Preitan |

Sativon does his best to aid all those providing care at the temple, grabbing bandages, staunching wounds, serving as an errand boy if that's what's required. After the long evening of helping he inquires of one of the acolytes: "Should I just rest out here in our makeshift infirmary, or are there other quarters that I might use for the night?"

Burma "The Tusk" |

Burma follows Dacar. Though she tries to not be rude about it, Burma is actually repulsed by the idea of staying inside the temple for any amount of time.
Taking a seat behind him, she asks for a glass of water.
"When I was a girl we would hunt goblins for fun and play ball games with their heads."

Burma "The Tusk" |

Ha, I like that game!
Burma smirks, "It's times like these I think our people would have a lot to benefit from eachother, if orcs had the patience and dwarves, on the whole, had any desire to... though such an alliance in sport may lead to a shortage of goblins."
