Pendin - Is it worth taking a DMPC action for Sigrun? It has been a week and the encounter has stalled a bit (says the player who has spent the majority of the encounter dying or unconscious!!!!)

Summer classes and work have got me stretched for time right now, so I may be a little slow posting for the next month. I'll try for once a day, but I shouldn't be any longer than 48 hours in between posts. You can NPC me as you see fit however to speed up combat or in situations like this where you are relying on me for information to proceed.

By RAW, I would say the Cold Flesh ability can't be shared, because it is never cast. However, that ruling is silly, because the ability is intended for Witch to operate in the cold AND Witch's cannot operate without their familiars.

How to rationalize ruling that the Cold Flesh ability CAN be shared? Winter Witches get their Familiars and their Cold Flesh abilities at the same time. At that time, the spell like ability is "cast." If the Familiar ever dies, the expensive new Familiar processes "casts" the spell like ability again. It's thin, but it's how I would GM the character.

So quick clarification.

Each of these little set-pieces that I set up generally have something you can do or encounter. I'm firmly a believer in helping out my PCs...to a degree. I don't want to run too much on automatic because you can miss out on a lot of things or I can give away way too much.

And these are your characters, with your own stories, and with their own life that you are in control of. I have no idea how your character would do something.

Just wanted to let you all know that I'm not trying to GM steamroll you or putting the kid gloves on. It's a world and decisions have consequences, so please everyone make sure to put an OOC comment or in character if you want to cast your vote in what you want to do in each area.

I will try a lot harder to indicate to you all when I'm expecting a decision. I can see where I've been a little TOO vague.

Quite to my surprise, I’ve been recently accepted into a volunteer project that will last from June 18th to July 6th. I doubt there will be much internet access where I’m going, and even then, I probably won’t have much time to post.
I have to leave Jorgo to be DMPCed until early-to-mid July. I may be able to post once or twice a week in this period of time, but I wouldn’t count on it.
I’ll leave in the PC profile a tactics and goals section, if there’s choices to be made. In the unlikely possibility that we attain a new level, I’ll post the new sheet too.

Hey all, just spent the last 48 hrs dealing with being hacked, getting rid of intrusions, re-securing home network and changing every password, reissuing credit cards etc. Should be back up to speed tomorrow.

It went great, thank you. We built hiking trails in Iceland, finding the best path and marking it for the tourists to come.

Is this game going at the pace that everyone expected?

Part of that is my fault if its too slow for everyone...I've been crushed at work lately.

As far as the DC's to go hand over hand on a rope suspended above the frozen river, remember it is VERY cold right now. DC 10 means you can take 10 and have no fear. DC 15 is only applicable if the cold weather is affecting you (i.e. your hands will be cold/numb/etc.). Plus weight and that you guys are probably a little tired from walking/fighting/puzzling.

Although, I think on second thought I'll revise it to a DC 13.

word of advice to Kirridell and others: Jorgo's concept is that he's from a family of barbarians but he cannot rage, so he turns to the mutagen as a "synthetic rage".
So even if he still has Int 14 while under the mutagen, I'm playing him much less restrained and much more violent as long as the mutagen lasts.

Votun has been communicating with me that my style of GMing is not quite what he expected or wanted, which is perfectly understandable. He's been accepted into a new game and will be dropping from this one. I am ok with this and he has been extremely respectful in his withdrawal. Let's wish him a good game in his next one!

Having said that, I think it is a good time to get everyone's opinion. Are there others wishing to drop or that would like me to change my style?

Also, would you want to continue sans Votun or would you like me to find a replacement? (Assuming you wish to continue)

My feelings will not be hurt as I completely understand that fun is the goal and if you are not having it, then it would be better to find a place you WOULD have fun.

That's a shame...I was enjoying the group we had here...for what it's worth, I am happy with the style of GM'ing and would love to continue with the game - I am relatively ambivalent about getting a replacement although I would note that it is a clear month since Colberg posted (so we may actually be down to three? In which case, I would suggest DMPC'ing Colberg and Votun whilst recruiting?)

I actually vote to drop the campaign. GM style was fine in the beginning, then maybe you stretched yourself too thin but frequency and size of the posts dropped significantly, and a game can't really be fun with one update a week.

We lost Votun, we probably lost Colbert... I am enjoying Jorgo, but waiting for recruitment will further slow the pace. I don't think that's a wise decision.

Fair enoug...you are close to it Jorgo. Real life got to be too busy for a time. I of course understand if you would like to drop, and would of course prefer if you didn't.

I am not planning on stopping the campaign unless that is the overall consensus.

I like the campaign, I like the character and I like the group dynamic. I's definitely say the group needs a replacement spellcaster, but I'd like to continue.

I haven't heard back from Colberg here or via the last couple PMs, coupled with his long time since last post...I'm making an executive decision to drop him.

Right now we have Sigrun and Kirridell who are interested in continuing.

Jorgo votes to stop, but I would like to keep you three if possible. I chose this party based on these three characters honestly.

I will open a recruiting back up for 2 more people.

And I PROMISE a better level of GMing. I had some RL issues (which I should have updated you all on) and some other reasons for why the level here hasn't been as acceptable as far as how I normally GM.
