I checked this with herolab and it says:
+4 BAB
+5 DEX
+1 enhancement
+2 competence from inspire courage
+3 luck
+2 morale
+2 untyped
-2 rapid shot
so yeah, you're right.

![]() |

There's several ways we could do this.
My attack needs a higher roll to hit, so that might be risky.
I can buff someone with a standard action for +2 attack and have hideous laughter and forbid action as spells left.

GM Zelligar |

Healing Bran is also an option - with Lesser Celestial Totem, he will gain additional HP equal to your caster level.
I would say for Channel, Hamailii counts as a level 7 cleric, so Bran actually has 1 more HP than he thought, and is at 11 HP effectively. Channel would put him at around 30 (+3d6+7), CSW would put him at around 40 (+3d8+7+7).
If Bran were to succeed at a Grapple, the giant would not be able to use its Greatsword. It could still do Slam attacks but those would do significantly less damage than its sword. At 11 HP, a single Slam attack would drop Bran. At 30 or 40, it wouldn't.
Hideous Laughter probably would end the fight if it succeeds, barring extremely bad rolls by you guys on your attacks. Forbid Action would just lead to the giant using Total Defense and moving again.

Bran O'Dimm |

Remember Hideous Laughter has an effective -4 Penalty to the DC of the spell if they are a different creature type than you... Because humour doesn't translate.
Though if it uses Total Defense and moves I can attempt an Apprehend (Charge Grapple) as it can't threaten while using TD.

Bran O'Dimm |

Loved watching this from the sidelines. Awesome stuff...
Oooooo we have a visitor... Nice!
Not sure if I Dared already during this Rage but I did it more for flavour. Seems like it didn't matter, just saw you edit in the CMD.

Bran O'Dimm |

Is that a more fitting ending? After a string of bad rolls I finally got a good one in.

GM Zelligar |

So there is one more part of this adventure that we can do.
The next part is a dungeon crawl. You won't have NPC allies, or the giant owls, and you won't (for the most part) be fighting hobgoblins and giants. It has a somewhat more exotic mix of foes. Devils, undead, and of course the last dragon and the High Wyrmlord. It ends with something really cool, I think.
But this is also an excellent stopping point.
I think we have a great group and have re-established momentum. What I would like to do is to continue with anybody who wants to, and let anybody who wants to call it a day here have a fine send-off. And then I would look to reopen recruitment for a replacement.
Thoughts?
If we do continue, you all get 15,000 XP (enough for 3 more feats), and Trellara reaches 6th level. You'll also get gear upgraded.

![]() |

Wow incredible!
Even though i wasn't here from the start, this was one of the coolest campaigns i ever played in and Zelligar is an awesome GM!
Thanks a lot! This has been real fun!
Gotta admit, i also liked the E6 approach.
I'm in some crazy high powered gestalt games as well and it's quite the difference, but a good one. (Gestalt isn't the problem there.)
Edit: Oh you posted in between i started my post and submitted it.
I'm all for continuing!
And i would most probably play in any adventure you run, especially with this group :P

Bran O'Dimm |

I am here until the bitter end. I can't imagine a game ending so suddenly here, I would lay awake not knowing Bran's fate.
E6 is one of my favourites and once this is over I'm going to look into doing a low-powered module of some sort should any of you wish to join me. It would be my first via forum but it's the least I could do after you stepped up when no one else wanted to.

GM Zelligar |

I mean, I wouldn't have ended it so suddenly right here, there would have been a wrap-up and it would have been retconned so that it was the actual High Wyrmlord you killed and not just his top general... there'd have been ceremonies and speeches and titles... but we shall continue to the end!
For now, think about what feats you might want. I will also allow any amount of retraining you want, in part because Tal'ariel needs to rebuild her character from scratch. You will all now have a total of eight Epic feats, of which one can be a Signature feat.
One thing that I gave Wyrmlord Kharn was Greater Toughness. Has Toughness as a prerequisite, but then gives an additional Hit Die - and given that we are doing max HP per HD, that would be the case for this bonus one.
Ability Training and Ability Advancement result in a +2 to a stat.
Shield Focus and Unhindering Shield might be good for Bran.
Hamailii might like Combat Improvement (makes BAB +5) and Signature Combat Feat (pick one combat feat that requires BAB +6). Could get Manyshot, Clustered Shots, or even Vital Strike. Vital Strike combos well with Bullseye Shot as an option against high-AC foes.
Mikail could take a Signature feat to gain either Fervor 3d6 or Sacred Weapon +2.
Basically, if there is a capability your character could have gained at level 8, I am willing to make up a Signature feat for it.
And Teamwork feats can be quite good. You have seen the value of Outflank. Shake it Off is always good to boost saves. Tandem Evasion gives evasion against dragons.
As to wealth, I did update you all to 9th-level WBL (roughly) before the Battle of Brindol. So let's say you would all be 10th level now. That is another 16,000 gp each. Tell me what you would like and I see if it is possible, and if so, work in some RP with the various NPCs who might be able to provide it.
Tal'ariel, if we are redoing your gear, feel free to pick from the 10th-level WBL (62,000 GP), but the items are limited to +2 bonuses (weapon enchantments, resistance/deflection, stat boosts). Note that there is an Epic feat to craft magic rings, so a Ring of Invisibility is an option.

Tal'ariel Rhuidon |

Hi everyone!
I'm a little worried, but let me see how things play out. My sense is that if I can recreate Tal'ariel this weekend, then we will be okay to proceed. If that turns out to be a struggle, it will probably not get much better. I do have a general sense of Tal'ariel's feats and gear, so I will build with that understanding in mind.

GM Zelligar |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Tal'ariel, you are free to switch things around, so don't stress too much over rebuilding her exactly as she was. I put that note in there specifically to help you with this glitch.
Here are my notes:
Starting stats: 16/16/15/14/13/8 (think this is the array you used)
+1 to one stat at level 4
Max HP at all HD (3d6 + 3d8 + 3FCB +6*Con = 57, so +2 Con).
I think Tal'ariel had a +3 Int bonus? Her Conjuration spells were DC 10+Spell Level+4, and I think she might have had Spell Focus (which maybe she had in lieu of Scribe Scroll, as per the PFS practice?).
Str 16
Dex 15 (racial 17, to 18 at 4th, to 20 with Boots)
Con 16 (racial 14)
Int 14 (racial 16)
Wis 13
Cha 8
Skill points would be 5/level wizard, and 11/level rogue, for a total of 48 skill points. Then you had taken Greater Skillfulness to get another 11 ranks (and max ranks of 7 in any skill). So you have 59 skill points to use, if you want to keep Greater Skillfulness.
Base 3 Feats (not counting Scribe Scroll/Spell Focus) and 1 Rogue Talent, plus five (now eight) Epic feats. Tal'ariel definitely had Power Attack, Cleave, and Cleaving Finish (base 3) then I think Improved Initiative with the Rogue talent.
As Epic feats: Greater Skillfulness, Greater Spell Casting (casts as 4th-level wizard), Signature Casting (casts as 5th-level wizard), Twist Away, and Outflank.
I did say she could take Combat Improvement despite not having +4 BAB. That would boost her BAB to +4, which actually she should have done before taking Outflank. So that should be one of her new 3 feats.
Items before the Battle of Brindol (I posted this to check WBL):
Pearl of Power (1st level)
Mithral Chain Armor of Twilight +2
Boots of Springing and Striding +2 Dex
Ring of Protection +1
Elven Curve Blade +1 Goblin Bane
Cloak of Resistance +1
Shawl of Shadowy Disguise
Various Wands, scrolls
Then, as an upgrade, she got her Cloak to become a Cloak of Resistance +2, with the ability to once per day apply the Silent Spell metamagic feat to any spell she casts - like a Metamagic Rod but only 1/day.
So that is stats, feats, and gear. I am not sure about the exact distribution of skill points.

Bran O'Dimm |

Looking at the Darechaser and I am wondering if I could grab Powerful Climber or Impossible Speed as a Signature Feat. Its a second level class feature from the prestige class and it adds more utility to the Darechaser's Adrenaline Rush.
As for normal Feats I might grab Extra Rage Power to take Knockback and then Extra Martial Flexibility.
I find that I'm hesitant to use Flexibility so this should help.

![]() |

Hamailii might like Combat Improvement (makes BAB +5) and Signature Combat Feat (pick one combat feat that requires BAB +6). Could get Manyshot, Clustered Shots, or even Vital Strike. Vital Strike combos well with Bullseye Shot as an option against high-AC foes.
Those are pretty good considerations!
While i thought of the first ones, vital strike and bullseye shot didn't come to my mind!Align weapon and a bunch of adamantine arrows might make clustered shots unneccesary, even though it's costly.
Still have to decide between vital strike and manyshot.
Too bad gravity bow isn't on my spell list!
On the other hand, i could get a wand of that perhaps.
I'm also questioning selective channeling, since with 3d6 healing not much will be done that couldn't be done with a CLW or similar in my eyes.

GM Zelligar |

Keep in mind that Channel heals 3d6+7 for Bran while he is raging, whereas a wand of CLW does 1d8+2 in that case. Average of 18 vs 6, and the Channel also heals other PCs.
Healing during combat has definitely mattered in this campaign, over and over again. Wand of CLW might suffice for between-combat healing.

Tal'ariel Rhuidon |

Okay, I made a build!
I'm not sure where I stand in terms of WBL; I basically added some useful items and consumables on top of stuff I already had:
Headband of Intellect +2 (Use Magic Device)
Sipping Jacket
Potion of Vanish (CL6) x4
First Aid Gloves
Aegis of Recovery
Wand of Infernal Healing (50 charges)
Scroll of Fly x3
Scroll of Haste x3
Scroll of See Invisibility
Potion of Barkskin CL6
Potion of Cure Serious Wounds

GM Zelligar |

First Aid Gloves are beyond the capability of anyone in an E6 world to create, as the Breath of Life spell does not exist.
In some cases, if an unavailable spell is included in the construction requirements but the item doesn't have as powerful an effect (like Secret Chest for a Bag of Holding) then the item may still exist. But if it directly replicates the spell in question, then no.
Other than that, looks good. I think Tal'ariel has one more feat to pick? Weapon Finesse and Spell Focus (Conjuration) are both free bonus feats. Other than those, I count 10, and she should have 11 (levels 1, 3, 5, and then eight extra feats).
I will ask everyone to get their 3 new feats finalized by tomorrow, as well as any items requested. If you don't have requests, I'll have the NPCs make some suggestions.

![]() |

I think i want to go with combat improvement and manyshot, but i'm not sure yet. Also have to think about the rest.
Equipment:
Is the holy enchantment for the bow possible?
The bow is supposed to be my bonded item, so i would get that at half price i think.
Else a phylactery of positive channeling might be nice and making the bow +2.
And adamantine arrows!

Bran O'Dimm |

I think I finalized the following Feats:
Signature Feat: Adrenaline Deed (Impossible Speed)
Feat 1: Extra Martial Flexibility
Feat 2: Iron Will
As for items I don't really know what to look for that is exciting. A Quick Runner's Shirt would fit extremely well with his build and flavour.
Kurgess sadly has no unique items for him. Maybe a couple of Lesser Restoration potions, something to help him Fly, and an upgrade for his axe. I'm not too picky with any of it, but I'm not sure what would be cool other than just number stacking. Its easy to ask for a better Ring or a better Belt (as mine are on gauntlets) but I'm not too sure.

Tal'ariel Rhuidon |

Good point about Breath of Life.
How about a Metamagic Rod of Extend? I can make that Haste last longer.
Can I throw in a Belt of Tumbling?
Also, how do you think the Mighty Cleaving enchantment should work? I would be interested in the option to attack a second target twice if the first hits, but I understand if that is not your interpretation. I'm wondering if I can replace my Bane weapon with that enchantment.
I'm thinking of adding Surprise Follow-Through as the additional feat.
I'm wondering if Trellara should add Rallying to her armor . . . fighting a big dragon at the end makes me concerned as to whether fear will be an issue. Is that something that could be researched?

GM Zelligar |

The incremental GP value is 16,000. I think this campaign has generally been better for having some non-standard items included and used rather than just use the PHB as a shopping catalog. It might be better to take what you have suggested as a starting point and then add some creativity. Combining game balance, flavor, and the P6 limitations on crafting.
The GP value of items is really just a balancing mechanism, and in this game it does not represent you going to a store and buying things. So with that in mind:
Hamailii: Holy is probably too much, given that you are already a very powerful archer and have gotten a lot of mileage out of item crafting (putting you way above WBL already). There will not be time to craft anything, other than a +1 bow upgrade. The Phylactery actually requires a 10th-level cleric (not just a default CL listing, but a special requirement), and it takes up the headband slot; I imagine you don't want to lose your Wis/Cha headband.
Here are my suggestions (pick ones that add up to about 16,000):
Adamantine arrows are fine. 60 gp each.
Tal'ariel:
Mighty Cleaving: If A and B were adjacent, and you used a standard action to Cleave starting with A, you could attack B twice? That's your interpretation? An extra attack is a lot for a +1 bonus, but it's situational, and if you miss A, you get nothing. I can see arguments either way. I suppose 2,000 for "reforging" the weapon.
Surprise Follow-Through: You're usually planning to get a flank, so it's not a big deal, I suppose. It's odd that it's in the half-orc section of ARG but doesn't have a racial requirement. But sure.
Items: while metamagic rods are unfortunately out of reach, Zelligar has found that he can create metamagic gems - these are single-use items. An Extending Garnet would be 1,000 GP. Do you want 3 of them?
A Belt of Tumbling is fine, and in fact Shiska's brother Dingle has one that he can give you in gratitude (800 GP).
Bran: how about a Cord of Stubborn Resolve? Gives +2 Con in the belt slot (which you have free) and negates Fatigue. Costs 15,000 GP, but doesn't require any high-level spells to craft. It seems very much in keeping with Bran and Kurgess. And it could just be that whatever belt he has been wearing now has that power.
We could do that plus making the Greataxe +1 (2,000 GP, so total 17K, close enough).
Mikail: Any thoughts on your feats or items?
I would allow a Signature feat to get Smite 2/day (which you would get at 8th). You already have Epic Caster and Greater Spell Casting, I think? Since you have 3rd-level spells?
Can you say generally what you would like to get better at, and I can think up some ideas? Bracers of the Avenging Knight would help your Smite damage, but an item to boost your Reflex save might be good too (perhaps a Lucky Horseshoe, found in a way similar to Hamailii's).

Bran O'Dimm |

The Cord seems really interesting to 'Push yourself past the limit' and definitely fits well. If you're fine with that and the axe then let's do it.
Just noticed it also gives another round of Rage and Adrenaline Rush which is a nice bonus too!

Tal'ariel Rhuidon |

Thanks, GM Zelligar!
I think the Extending Garnet is a little too pricey.
Maybe Tal'ariel should finally get a Longbow and some Dragon Bane arrows? Does that work?

Mikail of the Planes |

Well for Mikail, I think getting an extra smite would be a great idea, and to build on that the Bracers of the Avenging Knight would go well. I was toying with the idea of getting wings, but I think I will hold off on that for now....
Sorry I am back to work, and super busy, so I am really sorry I have got behind here...I hope to be able to get back on line and invested in the game!!

GM Zelligar |

The "Blood Sacrifice" angle is my own invention. Feel free to steal it for your own games to explain inexplicably bloody evil plots.
I had originally conceived of it for a Keep on the Borderlands/Lost City pairing, but haven't gotten around to running that.
In the present instance, it is to explain why the Red Hand attacked Brindol before completing this summoning ritual. Why not wait until it was completed? Well, because all that bloodshed was needed to make the ritual work, and Tiamat doesn't much care if it is humans or hobgoblins doing the dying (so win or lose it works out for the bad guys).

Bran O'Dimm |

I was wondering when the blood sacrifice angle was going to come into play because this campaign since its inception has reminded me turn for turn of Hoard of the Dragon Queen/Rise of Tiamat. From the mechanics to winning people over to make the final fight easier, to ensuring that you need to stop X objectives before Y date. I bet I know how this ends.

GM Zelligar |

I actually don't know the 5E campaign in question, and it doesn't seem to have authors in common, but no doubt the 5e authors knew of this one.
What it reminds me of a bit is Ironfang Invasion, which is an excellent AP. I am playing it in an all-fighter party and I am playing the face.
But like I said, the blood sacrifice angle was my addition in this case.

Bran O'Dimm |

I remember when that All Fighter party was recruiting!
I sure hope someone went for an Iron Caster build!

GM Zelligar |

Yes, our THF specialist does that 1/day. Actually, he is the only one with Weapon Training at the moment (I will get it at Ftr9). We are all level 6.
Archer archetype with VMC rogue - traps guy
Dragonheir scion with VMC wizard - THF guy (gets a lot of Will save bonuses from his VMC, between Hedgehog familiar and soon Void school)
Two-Weapon Fighter - does about as much damage as the THF guy, and can switch between reach and TWF (Meteor Hammer)
Child of Acavna and Amaznen - mage-substitute, also an archer
And my Tactician fighter - face guy, archetype gives class skills and skill points. He is way behind on damage-dealing, but has Flagbearer so that helps the others. He's an Aasimar with Alter Self 1/day and good Bluff, so we've pulled a few prisoner gambits and other ploys on the hobgoblins.
I would like to see us make use of teamwork feats, but we are all rather short on feats at the moment (archetypes or VMC or feat-intensive styles).
It's a pretty cool campaign and I am really enjoying it.

Tal'ariel Rhuidon |

Okay, I should be up to date. I took 1 Extending Garnet, a Composite Longbow (+1 Str), and 10 dragon bane arrows.
Lord Jaarmath gave us: 8 Potions of CMW, 3 Potions of Bull's Strength, 5 Potions of Invisibility, 2 Scrolls of Haste, and a Scroll of Fly.
Of these, I took 1 Potion of CMW, 1 Potion of Invisibility, 2 Scrolls of Haste, and a Scroll of Fly.
Spells Memorized:
3rd: Fly, Haste, Stinking Cloud, Stinking Cloud
2nd: Create Pit, Protection from Evil: Communal, Glitterdust, Glitterdust, Glitterdust
1st: Enlarge Person, Liberating Command, Long Arm, Snowball, Grease, Grease,

Tal'ariel Rhuidon |

Actually, can Hamailii use scrolls of Fly? I shouldn't hog them if so. I forget it's on your spell list.
I have 4 total. Want 2 of them?

![]() |

Yeah why not? I can help distribute it then.
Also i took some adamantine arrows, 10 dragonbane arrows and 50 silvered arrows just in case.
Maybe i should change some to devilbane arrows though.
And we should urgently try to find out what kind of dragon there is, because resist energy is best cast beforehand^^

Tal'ariel Rhuidon |

Okay, those two Fly scrolls are yours.
Good point about silvered weapons. Any chance Tal can find herself a silvered Elven Curve Blade? If not, maybe we just go with a bunch of silver blanches. And while she's not much of an arrow shooter, a set of 10 silvered arrows probably also makes sense.
Also good point about knowing what kind of dragon we're facing!

Bran O'Dimm |

Why settle with Devilbane?
You can just select Evil Outsider and catch all of them I think.

Bran O'Dimm |

I'll get a post up in a bit, just have to finish some stuff at home before I buckle down.

Mikail of the Planes |

Sorry was away for the last 2 days and just got back...thought I would have time/access to post, but this was not the case...sorry again..will catch up and post now.

![]() |

Yes especially standing all nicely lined up in a cave tunnel....
So, did we have any clue what sort of dragon might be there so far?
I remember i wanted to make a knowledge check some days before, but think i forgot it.
Might we have heard some rumors or something?

Bran O'Dimm |

Out of character its most likely a blue dragon (electricity). White dragons hang out in completely different environments and they aren't too bright so I doubt it would be the type to be left defending the keep.
