1 person marked this as a favorite.

So I've tried to run this before, but my son was born about the time we got going good and I disappeared, we tried to get it started back up but everyone lost the script. If you were a part of that group and you apply, you're in — but please create new characters.

For those who weren't, here's what I ask as a GM

Create 3 influential NPCs from your backstory. Along with 1 sentence on why they were important. I prefer one to be a source of conflict, one to be a friend/loved one and one to be anything of your choice - a mentor, a rival, a lover etc.

Give 3 moments of personal development for your character. A sentence or two as to how that shaped you. Perhaps a moment of loss, triumph, frustration, joy or sorrow.

Give me what motivates your character in a word: Ambition, Greed, Revenge, Wanderlust, etc. Then give me one sentence as to why that motivates your character.

Give me what class you want to play - If it's PFS legal, you can play it, except the new Occult stuff, sorry, I don't have time to learn those rules. What race you want to play. The relative age of your character, young adult, adult, middle aged, Old.

3 Sentences or less describing what your character looks like.

And last, where your character is from and what social status they're from.

At most I hope you don't have to write more than 15 sentences to apply. I know it's a pain to write these long drawn out backstories only not to get chosen. Try to write most of it, like you would write your in character posts, for example, when describing your rival, it could be inner monologue.

EX.
James Malor, I hoped the last time I saw that sneering scowl of his was when the Town Guards dragged him off to the stockade once I revealed his role in my father's death.

That's enough, it gives me some freedom to create and gives you freedom to shape your backstory as you play.

As for stated out character blocks, we'll do that once you get selected.

I'll take 4 maybe 5. If you don't get selected, I'm sorry. It's no reflection on you, I might have just had an easier time thinking of hooks for someone else.

I'll make my decision by Noon U.S. Central Time, Tuesday.

PFS legal with or with out a cert?

I got a concept. Is an aasimar cleric of Norgorber okay?

Silver Crusade

PFS legal Classes and races (I include Tieflings and Aasimar's as legal so that's cool), There won't be any chronicle sheets, sorry.

Alright, I have a character in mind, but question: I am running Kingmaker right now. Is it cool for me to apply? I will not let my metagame knowledge interfere.

What is the area like terrain wise?

Silver Crusade

Playing or gaming kingmaker does not exclude you from joining

This will be forests and open fields, very little dungeon, underground or urban until late game

Are we assuming the Kingmaker campaign setting for backgrounds? Not necessarily the same specific locations, families and such, but assuming similar hooks such as being chosen to lead an expansion of the kingdom, being from a noble family, being a bastard, etc.?

Pagonel - Dwarven Monk
Clean shaven, with a shaved head. Narrow and nimble for a dwarf.
Hes from a dwarven city (I haven’t decide which yet) but was given at a young age to a monastery. He doesn't remember much, other than his mother's face.
His family was middle class until his father was murdered. Then his mother fell on hard times and she had to give him to a passing monk.
At the start of the story, Pagonel has just spent 20 years at the monastery on the island of the 10,000 steps. He obtained his red belt, and then traveled out on the customary journey. This puts him around the age of 25, both a very young dwarf and monk.
Hes memorized many cryptic wise sayings. He doesn't speak much, but when he does its usually worth listening to. He often says wise things related to something that has happened, but phrased in a way that they are too cryptic for most people to get much use from them. (HE understand them, and hes hoping it will help put people on the path to enlightenment).
"Water that is too clean, has no fish."
"If you can dodge a shuriken, you can dodge a ball."

NPC 1 (Name not known by character). He was an influential dwarf in
Pagonel's home city. This NPC is responsible for the unlawful death of Pagonel's father. He was too young to remember anything about it, but he has a deep desire to put the man to justice.

NPC 2 (Coretta Brownberyl) is Pagonel's mother. Her whereabouts are unknown. After the death of his father, she couldn't take care of him. But he was wise for one as young as he, and strong of arm. She gave him to a monk who was passing through from the island of 10,000 steps. She asked if his order would raise her son, so that he could learn and grow without having to worry about where his next meal would come from.

NPC 3 (Eilrath Hawklight) was an influential monk in his order. When
he arrived as a child, she had been a red belt for a decade. She had yet to choose her customary mission as a red belt, and elected to stay at the monastery longer until she found a mission that she could believe in.

New monks receive no belt until they realize how little control they have over their bodies, and attempt to gain greater mastery over themselves. When they realize how little they know, then their cup of knowledge is "Emptied" and can be filled with the knowledge of their order. Then they are awarded the White Belt.

White Belt (Purity) - is given to a student when they make their first steps towards understanding their bodies, and their ignorance. This is a sign that they have been accepted as a monk.

Yellow Belt (Knowledge) - is given to a monk when they begin to learn wisdom. Those monks who begin to see what is truly important, are making their first steps to acquiring this belt.

Green Belt (Hard Work) - is given to a monk when their bodies have overcome the normal limitations placed upon them. When a monk is able to shatter small boulders with quick kicks or punches, they have reached a new threshold with their bodies.

Blue Belt (Tranquility) - is given to a monk after they successfully complete the trial of the long night. After a decade of learning to meditate, a monk can attempt this trial. They travel to the very peak of the mountain to heaven - above even the highest temple. They travel till snow stands on every surface, and they can see out over the edge of the world. There they sit, in meditation, for 3 weeks. They are given no food or water, and no clothes other than their monk robes. To succeed, they must reach deep meditation and slow their body processes down to the brink of near-death. If they successfully enter this state, they should find three weeks an only moderate challenge. Most monks who attempt this, fail the trial and return home in a few days.

At the time only 2 living members of the order currently held the rank of Red Belt. Eilrath Hawkright was one of them.

Red Belt (Energy) - is given to a monk who has found their inner power, their Chi, their Ki. Upon sensing it in themselves for the first time, the monk is often capable of feats far beyond that of a normal human being. If they demonstrate this feat in front of
an assembly of monks they are given the rank of Red Belt, and are to choose a mission away from the monastery to better themselves, their control of ki, and to return to the monastery with knowledge to share and to benefit others.

Black Belt (Understanding) - is given to a monk who returns from their journey successful, having influenced the world and returned with knowledge.

The Belt of Many Colors (W,Y,G,B,R,B) - cannot be given. It can only be taken. This belt is taken by any monk who survives the trial of tears. They must go through a personal trial in a room full of traps and devices that test everything they have learned throughout their journey to this moment. They must demonstrate purity, knowledge, hard work, tranquility, energy, and one last thing. The ability to go beyond oneself. The ability to master Ki, and transcend this world. The final challenge, is to cross a lake of lava, and go under, swimming through a tunnel to the other side (Empty Body to become ethereal). Upon arrival on the shore, the monk finds a handwoven belt of many colors. Left by the monk who previously completed the trial, claimed their belt, and wove a new one.

Rank is determined in the order by the belt you have, or the trial you have completed. You show respect to those who have obtained knowledge greater than yourself.

When Pagonel arrived at the monastery as a child, Eilrath took notice of him early on. Not because of any particular genius, or swiftness, or strength. She took notice of him because he asked questions. Many questions. Questions that should have been beyond him. He seemed to know at a young age that the question was always more important than the answer. He also listened to the wisdom of the older monks, and often memorized the cryptic things they said, hoping he would someday understand.

She made a strong impression on him, and congratulated him when he acquired his white and yellow belts. And then she left the Monastery on her chosen mission as a red belt. She had put it off too long, and had finally chosen a mission that she felt was worthy.

Pagonel hasn’t seen her since then, to the best of his knowledge she is still out there somewhere.

Moments of personal development:
1) When his father was murdered and his mother abandoned him. Hes had to deal with issues of loss, abandonment, and being thrust into a new life. All he could do was ask "Why?" so that’s exactly what he did.
2) When he first earned his white belt, it was because he learned how little he actually knew. He put himself fully into the monastic way of life. This has effected how he perceives things. He often disregards preconceived notions until he gets a deeper impression of something.
3) When he was in the Trial of the Long Night for his blue belt. Pagonel reached deep within himself, to attempt to meditate and slow his body's metabolism But when he reached within himself, he unknowingly found his Ki. He drew upon that, which he thought was simply his own inner calm. He lost himself in his meditation. Three and a half weeks later, a procession of monks came to find him, and dispose of his body. What they found was Pagonel sitting cross legged, with his eyes closed, and his breathing steady. Snow around him was melted for several yards. When they came close to him, they felt the temperature of the air noticeably increase a few degrees. One of the elders touched his shoulder, and said "My son. What have you found within yourself?" Pagonel did not respond. One week later, the elders returned. Pagonel was right where they had left him, but his eyes were open, and he was staring out over the clifface. "Master Padwigg. I felt something inside of me when I was meditating, and I immersed myself in it. Everything became warm, and I meditated. I just saw myself, leaving this place. Traveling down the 10,000 steps, and crossing the narrow sea to the mainland. I saw great darkness, and a conflict. I saw the world, tilting on a precipice I was the fulcrum that could cast it into chaos, or to pull it back from the brink. I must go.

Pagonel stood, and started walking down the mountain. He walked three steps, and then fell forward into unconsciousness

When he awoke, he was on a cot in the temple. Master Padwigg was nearby. The only black belt living on the island said, "You have found you ki young one. And you have passed the test of the long night." He helped him stand, and remove his green belt. He then tied a red belt around Pagonel's waist.

It is your duty to travel down the steps, and undergo your journey. Return to us, your purpose complete, and return with knowledge.

Pagonel traveled down the steps that very day, taking little but his belt and signet ring. He chartered a boat to take him to any place it could that was on the main land. He would start his journey is whichever place his feet found themselves planted.

Tolborg Hordash Nuetral Good Cleric of Pharasma
Quotes:
"Don't touch the coin, it is now part of fate. No one can touch it. It is now ment to be held by the next person to touch it. FOr good or for bad."
"Pharasma made it so I would be here, there fore the healing i provide was fated to be provided."
"Pharasma has made this happen. Everything is fated. This adventure, me being here. I will do what i can to please my god."

NPC 1: Father Tulok Hordash- As the son of a priest of Pharasma, his life was based around the love of his fathers description of his goddess. His father tought Tolborg his philosophy that Pharasma has a chosen few and that if you are there you were ment to be there. Everything is ment to be as is.

NPC 2: Coldash Herk- a thief and former Friend of Tolborg, they became enemies when in a robery Coldash had to kill Tolborg's sister Sasha. While Tolborg believes that everything was ment to be, he hates Coldash with a passion.

NPC 3: Seshi Toblio- A warroir who once traveled with Tolborg, until he died of a mysterious disease a year ago. A good friend to Tolborg, his death nearly caused Tolborg to lose his faith in Pharasma, though after the last year Tolborg's faith came back stronger than ever, when Seshi's spirt visted him and said that lak of faith was a bad thing.

Moment 1-The death of Seshi. Shesi's death is what nearly broke Tolborg. He lost his faith i his goddess for a year, until Seshi's spirit returned to Tolborg in a dream saying that a loss of faith would destroy Tolborg.

Moment 2- The betrayl of Coldash. When Coldash killed Sasha, he earned Tolborg's emnety as Tolborg nowhas a hard time trusting thoes who claim to be friends without proving it first.

Moment 3- The Introduction of his Deity. When Tolborgs father taught Tolborg of his god, Tolbog was entranced. He believes in fate, and if he needs to make a big desision he will flip a coin, believing that his god will touch the coin and his result in the flip is what his god wants.

What otivtes him is his god. He flipped a coin to determine if he would join a church of pharasma or adventure like Seshi. It came up heads having him adventure like Seshi.

He is a Aasimar Cleric of Pharasma using the Repose and Healing domains. He is an adult, around the age of 130. He will flip alot of coins, then never touch them when they land thinking they are then divine instruments of Pharasma and the next person to touch it would be fated to touch it.
He is from a poor family, not eve middle class his family worked for a church of Pharasma, and didn't make much money, but all had the same coin flippping philosophy.
He is a shorter and lighter person standing at 5'4" and wieghing only 120 lb. He has obsidian black hair, eyes the color of saphires, and a golden halo. He has a small scar over his left eye from a beating in a bar fight, and he has a leather cloak he always wears over his armour wich has the holy symbol of his goddess on it.

Dotting for interest! Super-late currently, but I've got a spiffy idea for a bastard-born I'll be shooting your way sometime tomorrow most likely :3

Dotting, will put up something tomorrow.

Are tengu okay as a race? I have an idea for one, but just want to be sure before I submit.

I have a cool idea, and I'd love to apply! Is the LE alignment allowed? If not, I can rework my idea or come up with something else.

Roga Dismar-Foundlast
NPC 1: Johann Aldori. My father never said what he did to get an Aldori Swordlord to back our request, but I think that wide-eyed weasel killed him because of it - and now he seems worried I know something.
NPC 2: Takek Dismar-Foundlast. My son looks older than I do - the blood that came down from our divine ancestor seems to have finally faded, and though I love him Inerrys is a “modern” Mendev now, not a “traditional” Sarkorian like me.
NPC 3: Danr Dismar-Foundlast. My cousin Danr is a better warrior than I - perhaps even a better leader - so he leads the last of the Dismar warband, and if he obeys my commands I am careful not to test his faith by asking him to do anything he does not want to.
Moment of personal development 1: When I was a lad of 20 my father took me into the forests as his father took him - though the dangers of the forest were much different in the demon-torn worldwound - and there in a somehow untouched grove of my people I connected with the Pantheon, was sent Whitetooth to be my first herald, and became a God Caller in truth.
Moment of personal development 2: There was little of our town on the Mendev border left - many people left for treacherous Ustalav or diseased Iobaria when the Wound opened, a century of warfare against the Abyss had cost life after life, and many had fled to safer Mendev towns - but through all this my father held the Faith of the Land until the birth of my all-too-human son Takek convinced him our line was ending.
Moment of personal development 3: My entire life I did what my father commanded, sheltered under his enormous celestial wings, believed he was the unassailable wall of my childhood - a childhood that only really ended when Danr returned with my father’s ring and named me clanliege.
Motivation Word: Duty. My life now is Duty - had I only attended to it as I should have perhaps… now all I can do is keep the last of my people alive as a Seed from which New Sarkoris might one day grow.
Class: Summoner
Race: Aasimar
Age: 87 (22)
Description: Roga stands six foot tall, inhumanly beautiful with his literally bronzed skin and glowing eyes revealing his inheritance. He wears the leathers and carries the spear of a Hunter of Sarkoris and the totem bags and fetishes of a cleric. His skin is unblemished - all scars and marks healing - a problem in a culture that regards scars as a badge of honour.
Status and where he is from: Roga is the head of the Family Dismar, and Clanliege of the Foundlast Clan - a title that once would have meant he commanded a thousand barbarians but now means he commands a few refugees.

Silver Crusade

Tengu's are allowed, LE allowed - no PVP - unless both parties agree OOC. CE and NE, you should apply and hope I'm intrigued enough to let it go lol.

Yes

RPG Superstar 2013 Top 8

What about 3rd party material? This would be a good environment for a masquerade reveler (Rite Publishing) which is built on the barbarian mechanics but gives you a bunch of fey-touched abilities. Although I could do it as a bloodrager also.

All right, here's my character, Leran Starshorn, a Half-Elf Arcanist.

Backstory:

Create 3 influential NPCs from your backstory. Along with 1 sentence on why they were important. I prefer one to be a source of conflict, one to be a friend/loved one and one to be anything of your choice - a mentor, a rival, a lover etc.
NPC 1(Friend): Timon Farstory-An influential crime lord and a close friend, he saved Leran from being thrown in jail after he was reported to the constabulary, but even their friendship didn’t erase the steep price of his aid, Leran was forced to serve Timon’s will for three years.
NPC 2(Conflict): Oran Hyar-“Don’t get me started on that piece of scum; he stole most of my smuggled merchandise, and still had the nerve to call the constabulary on me for having the rest!”
NPC 3(Other): Malorn Pent-The last time Leran saw Pent, the night before he left, the two argued over Leran’s values, or lack thereof, and Pent’s attempts to act as a fatherly figure and impose his values upon the young Leran, but he then abandoned him that night.

Give 3 moments of personal development for your character. A sentence or two as to how that shaped you. Perhaps a moment of loss, triumph, frustration, joy or sorrow.
1: The night after Malorn Pent abandoned him, he felt sorrow at his loss, but he began to understand that he had to make a choice between being effective and powerful, or being moral but losing his friends.
2: Just after he discovered his powers for the first time, managing to make a door, one that he had kicked in a fit of rage and broken his toe against, burst into flames. From that moment on, he felt joy and ambition, taking joy in the process of learning about his new powers and how to develop them, and ambition in thinking about the applications of his abilities.
3: When Timon Farstory forced Leran into his service, he used him as a go-between for many of his illicit deals, but when one didn’t go as planned, he asked Leran to kill the uncooperative man. Leran refused and fled the city, fleeing his former master’s wrath in order to control his own future.

Give me what motivates your character in a word: Ambition, Greed, Revenge, Wanderlust, etc.
Then give me one sentence as to why that motivates your character.
Power: Leran has seen over the course of his life that nothing gets done if it isn’t motivated by power, and he has learned to stay on the right side of that power and now seeks to gain it whenever possible.

3 Sentences or less describing what your character looks like.
Leran is a short, skinny half-elf, but something flashing in his dark eyes seems to warn those would disregard him to think twice. His long blue robes are well-worn, but kept in good condition, hiding pockets within pockets that contain his many spell components.

And last, where your character is from and what social status they're from.
Leran comes from a small village on the outskirts of Brevoy. His father was a relatively rich man for his village, but still not particularly well-off.

If it's PFS legal (other than Occult) I'm ok with it from a class and race perspective (I'm also including Tengu/Aasimar/Tiefling as legal). So no to third party, sorry

Here's my current character concept:

Aliran Surol - Human Summoner.:

NPC1(Friend/Loved one) - Shazira Surol - Ex-member of a thieves' guild operating in Brevoy, Shazira took Aliran in and raised him as her son for as long as he can remember. However, a dispute for the guild's leadership forced her to disappear without notice. He eventually got a letter from her, reassuring him that she was alive, wishing him a better life and hoping that they would meet again.

NPC2(Conflict) - Rorgan Balmar - A cunning rogue who currently leads the thieves' guild, Rorgan feared Shazira's popularity could compromise his bid for leadership of the guild, and thus took steps to eliminate her. Having only managed to drive her away, Rorgan tried to keep Aliran under close watch, knowing Shazira would hesitate to do anything while he could bring harm to her son.

NPC3(Mentor) - Lasin Shaerd - An elven wizard Aliran met and befriended sometime after having escaped from the guild. Lasin was puzzled as to the nature of Aliran's eidolon and the connection both shared, as well as impressed at the boy's talent for conjuration magic. He helped Aliran master his talent for the arcane.

Moments of personal development:

While he didn't really approve of some of the guilds' actions, Aliran tried to find ways he could be useful to his mother. He found it easy to find out useful information, thanks to his innate curiosity and learning to use his likeable personality to his advantage.

When his mother left, he knew he should leave as soon as he could. But soon after he tried to leave, he found himself hunted by some of Rorgan's men. They managed to trap him and, as they approached, he called out for help. In his mind, a soothing female voice answered. With a flash of light, an angelic being appeared and drove off the thugs. She was as clueless about what had happened as he was, not knowing what she was, where she came from, or why he had managed to call her. All she knew was a name, Andrasfi. They both decided to try and better understand this bond they shared.

Under the instruction of Lasin Shaerd, Aliran found his natural talent for the arcane arts. Although the wizard was unable to shed much light on the strange bond he shared with Andrasfi, he suggested that by improving his skill in the arcane, they might be able to find answers.

Motivation: Knowledge. Aliran wants to understand as much as he can about Andrasfi's origins and the nature of their bond, and his innate curiosity drives him to learn more about the mysteries of the world.

Social status: Aliran comes from the streets of one of the cities in Brevoy.

Description: Aliran is a young adult human summoner. He is of medium height and doesn't have a particularly strong physique. He has brown hair and brown eyes, and uses a headband covering his forehead, to hide the glowing rune that appears when Andrasfi is summoned. Andrasfi resembles an elven woman, but she seems to shine with an inner light, and has eyes of a deep blue color. She uses an identical headband to hide her rune, and a long blue robe.

Dot. Will have something up within a day or so.

Skäne Ingvârssonn; for your consideration...

NPC 1: Ingvâr Sharptunga - As one of the many bastard sons of Ingvâr Sharptunga - an infamous skald of the North, My life to date have been a series of blood feuds, duels and ultimately exile - all caused by my damned father’s questionable honour and reputation.

NPC 2: "Red" Rulf Gunderson: Former teacher of arms and mentor to me when I was young, Hel's teeth he practically raised me... Rulf now plies his trade in Taldor as a respected member of the famed Ulfen Guard.

NPC 3: Blithe Pennick : A pretty Rostlander serving wench who shared her bed and her ties to the local bandits with me - she has my heart still...

EVENT 1 (PRIDE): His first Holmgang (honour duel) in the North - Skäne realised the power his arm and his words when he took the life and axe of an older warrior who had slighted his father.

EVENT 2 (HUMILITY): His time in Taldor - The cosmopolitan streets and folk of Oppara taught the clodhopper Northman some hard lessons and Rulf reminded him of reluctant duty and blood debts in sending him to Rostland.

EVENT 3 (PAIN): His last raid as a bandit - Through his romance with Blithe, Skäne fell in with a bandit gang, providing them welcome muscle and intimidation; until the group's success garnered the attention of the dwarf trade lords who ended their luck, and many of their lives, in a hail of quarrels and heavy armoured guards.

One Word to Sum Him: Belonging. From his bloody exile from the North, dutiful dismissal from Taldor and ill-thought dalliance as a bandit, Skäne has never truly belonged anywhere, or to anyone, - something the Ulfen begrudgingly yearns...

Class: Vigamaðr-Lochlannach(Fighter - Viking archetype)
Race: Human (Ulfen)
Age: Adult (24)
Description: Skäne appears to be the archetypal Viking; Tall and brawny (6'4 and 230lbs), he has piercing blue eyes, bears a number of scars, and wears his wild reddish-blond hair and beard in braids. About his person the Northman wears a suit of rusted mail overlayed with a flea bitten fur cloak. in his hands Skäne holds a battleaxe whose blade is bitten with use and a battered wooden shield - the signature of the Viking reaver.
Hails From: Bildt in the Land of the Linnorm Kings (where he once his family had status, now Skäne is an exile from the North with no wealth or honour to his name). All he is worth is carried on his back, shown in his countenance and worn by his scars.

I'm a great fan of this AP and seeing your attention to story off the bat gives me warm fuzzy feelings. Looking forward to writing a submission.

More soon to come!

Here's my character, who matches the setting petty well. I'll answer the questions later when I can.

Most answers already given in her backstory in her profile.

Create 3 influential NPCs from your backstory: Her adoptive father is one. I'll think on the other two.

Give 3 moments of personal development for your character: Already in her history: The Loss of her birth parents, getting adopted, and finding and rescuing Eishie.

Give me what motivates your character in a word: Wanderlust will do nicely. She has a good streak, but right now her primary joy is exploration.

Grimjaw – young adult half-orc ranger

character info:
NPC #1 – Winterleaf (old elven druid) - “Who in their right mind, especially and elf of all races, would have adopted an ugly little cuss like me?”

NPC #2 – Scarred Snout (awakened wolf barbarian) - “He would have murdered those homesteaders if I hadn't, young as I was, stopped him – with fire. Now he dogs my steps, fouls my kills, and works toward my end.”

NPC #3 – Rosalie Cooper (homesteader's daughter) - “Bright and beautiful- there is no way she could love someone like me.”

Abandoned - “I can't remember my parents. My first memories, before Winterleaf found me, are of stealing meat from animals' kills. I was likely about six.”

Accomplished - “Everything felt perfect – my stance, my breathing – even the wind and stars. The bowstring thrummed, and the bandit dropped without a sound. 'Good,' murmured Winterleaf, 'Now we move in to take the rest.'”

Time to go - “It was a good life, but it wasn't mine. Winterleaf, so gifted in knowing the ways of living things, knew before I did. I came in from a hunt to find my things packed. 'It's time,' Winterleaf said quietly, 'You need to make your own way.'

Motivated to make a name for himself – Has always resented his parents for abandoning him. Subconsciously feels that if he can garner enough glory, they'll be sorry.

Description: Black hair like a thundercloud looms over a face that the Gods have set in a permanent glower. His orcish ancestry is easy to see, and he will never be called anything better than 'ferally ugly'.

Homeland unknown. Raised in southern Brevoy, social standing: freeman

Three influencial events in his life:

Event One: Ahto's mother and father were murdered by a gang of thugs running a protection racket. Ahto's father was beaten to death. His mother was raped and beaten to death. Ahto was also beaten, and left for dead.

Event Two: Ahto foreswore his family's faith in Desna, and began worshipping at the Church of Abadar. He found the sermons on Law, Order, and Justice appealing. Ahto eventually decided to join the Church of Abadar.

Event Three: While still studying to become a priest, Ahto was identified as one whose faith manifested through his actions rather than through his words. He began to train to be one who metes out justice. He became, and thereafter works as, an executioner.

Three influencial NPCs:

"Bull Neck": Ahto never knew the name of the man who led the gang of thugs who killed his mother and father. He only remembered the man's heavily muscled shoulders, supporting a bald, scarred head. The man was never caught, nor convicted, and to this day, Ahto routinely checks arrest records looking for a man fitting the description.

High Justicar Danconius: The High Justicar was responsible for the dispensation of justice upon the condemned. He often observed the classes of initiates for individuals of certain temperment; those who would be suited for such grim, but necessary work. He took particular interest in Ahto after hearing about what had happened to him and his family. He singled out the young man, and began focusing his instruction. He became a trusted mentor to the young man, and Ahto now sees him as a paragon of law and justice.

Serriah Krempler: Serriah was the first murderer that Ahto executed. She was convicted of beating a woman to death after finding her in bed with her husband. She wept throughout her trial, claiming that she did not intend to kill the woman, but that her rage got the better of her. She was convicted of murder, and sentenced to a quick death by beheading. As she was led to the block, she begged for Ahto to spare her. Friends and relatives of Serriah stood nearby, pleading for mercy. Ahto knew this was the moment he must prove his conviction to his faith. He steeled himself, ordered her to kneel, and cooly struck her head from her shoulders. Every so often, he dreams of this moment, and each time, he finds that he is given the choice to execute her or set her free. Thus far, he has always chosen to carry out her sentence.

What motivates your character?

Justice, unequivocated. Ahto is driven to see that the law is obeyed, and that the guilty are punished. He has no patience for those who break the law, and then expect mercy from those they have wronged. If the penalty is death, then death is the price to be paid.

What class do you want to play?

Inquisitor (Sin-Eater archetype)

3 Sentences or less describing what your character looks like:

Ahto is broad-shouldered and muscular, his skin and weathered and tanned, and his face bears a web-like scar from where the blow of some heavy, blunt weapon evidently struck. His hair is a near-white blonde and his eyes are hazel in color. He walks with an upright, confident posture, and his calm demeanor radiates a palpable intensity.

Where is your character from, and what social background:

Ahto is from Restov, and his family was of the merchant class (see backstory in Charcter Profile).

Cedifor Nokes

Race: Human (Taldan)

Class: Cavalier (Daring Champion)

NPC 1 - Ser Bolver Henderson (Retired Hedge Knight, Adoptive Father) "Any saint would kill to have had the patience of that codger and every sellsword would pray to have had his skill."

NPC 2 - Hearle Witherden (Scion of a Lesser Noble House) "He's exactly what's wrong with society, the brat's not even ashamed of the things he does to the smallfolk!"

NPC 3 - Miss Taffine (Calistrean Prostitute, Mother's Friend) "Not everyone can say they're off to visit an old family friend at the whorehouse and be telling the truth."

Event 1 Mother's Disappearance "The Madame never gave me much of an explanation, I was just a whore's son after all...well, make that a whore's orphan."

Event 2 Adoption by Henderson "I sat in squalor, digging in the alleys and risking death every day until the morning that grump forced me into the bakery. That was the best day of my life."

Event 3 The Fatal Duel "That pompous little bastard cut him down in the street over burnt bread and they did NOTHING!"

Motivation Revenge "A pox upon House Witherden, their ilk will learn that no one is without worth or wrath."

Description: A young man of decidedly fair physique, Cedifor often appears light of heart and sometimes absent-minded although he hides complex emotions in his manner. His threadbare tunic is well-loved and the dingy chainmail he wears over it bears a number of broken links and patches of dull metal that don't look likely to be polished any time soon. Sandy blonde hair hangs unkempt to his shoulders and in his face which appears hard and lean from a life of peasantry. Care-free eyes of watery grey do nothing to suggest attention to any other area of his person, unlike that which he pays to the finely maintained blade at his belt.

Origins Cedifor has lived at the bottom-most tier of Brevic society for the entirety of his life. He comes from Cadaroc's Rest, a farming town situated north of Restov.

Antonio

Decription: Antonio is short, about 5'4 and thin, 100 pounds. He has short light brown hair and pale blue eyes. His eyes seem to grow brighter when he uses or is in contact with magic. He is warm and friendly, though is generally not quick to trust.

Class & Race: He is a Human Bard with the archeologist archetype.

NPC 1: Cpt. Luccio. She was a guard in the small town of his birth and growth. She was always scowling. She was always the one to come along and shut down Antonio's street cons. She has a healthy amount of respect for Antonio, and he returns it. Once Anton escaped she was the one dispatched to find him.

NPC 2: Gentleman Marcone. Marcone was the crime boss in the small town where he grew up. He is calm and ruthless and he often employed Antonio because of his innate magical talent, often using him for scouting and distraction while other people did the dirty work.

NPC 3: Ebenezer. Ebenezer is the owner of the Copper Dragon, the tavern in which Antonio slept most nights. He is warm and friendly and has helped Antonio on more than one occasion, letting him sleep in front of the fire when he was out of coin.

Event 1: The murder of his parents. He doesnt remember his father or mother, as they and their whole traveling troupe was murdered when they had a disagreement with Marcone. He doesnt remember much other than a flying man that seemed to project fire from his hands.

Event 2: Recruitment into Marcone's gang. At the age of 11 when his magic first began to bloome he was recruited into the gang of Gentleman Marcone. Marcone taught him to be distant, whilst still being sociable. And how to sweet talk his way out of many tough situations.

Event 3: The hit, imprisonment and escape. at the age of 15 he was put on a job to assassinate a visiting lord, it was to pay thousands of gold. His job was infiltration. He was to get them in and back out again. The job failed however and he wax the only one caught. He was thrown in jail and tattooed with a black X on the wrist of his left hand. He was to be executed but he escaped and has been running from his past ever since.

Motivation: He wishes to settle down and live a normal life. He has been in enough trouble, but every time he seems safe he has another run in and is caused to flee. He just wants peace.

Three influential events in her life:

Event One: Andrea learning the tenets of Urgathoa on the knee of Acolyte Griswald. The ghoul bonecarver and master chef not only read to her from the book Feeding Your Hunger, but also taught her the virtues of patience and deceit.

Event Two: Andrea was anointed into the clergy of Urgathoa and taught to be a hidden agent rather than an active spreader of disease and undeath.

Event Three: Andrea was sent out into the world to see what locations would be best for preparing for others to follow after her. She was not to spread disease, undeath or prech the faith, but to lay the groundwork for others to arrive. Safehouses, speeding of paperwork and accumulating funds would be her duty.

Three influencial NPCs:

Mother Sarah: Andrea's mother. She, like Andrea had no last name since a Bloodmother has no need of one. Sarah brought Andrea into the world and taught her the basics of her faith. Sarah still corresponds and acts as a contact for Andrea's letters.

Acolyte Griswald: Griswld is a ghoul bone carver and talented chef that prepares feasts for the clegy and followers. He taught Andrea about Urgathoa's faith and the need for stealth and deceit when she was to go out into the world. he travels quite a bit as well.

Jennner Caulflower: Pharesmian cleric who sniffed out Andrea as she tried to integrate herself into the livelihood of the Ustalav city Caliphas. Making a mistake in theology, Andrea was found out by this suspicious man and had to flee, she hope she has fled far enough from him so he won't bother chasing her.

What motivates your character?

Andrea right now seeks a place where she can achieve influence and eventually send back word that she can be a doorway for others of her faith to spread across the area. She does love fine feasts but is rather picky(a trait from Acolyte Griswald) and so is unlikely to be found facefirst in a bowl of stew, much preferring an elegant banquet.

What class do you want to play?

Cleric

3 Sentences or less describing what your character looks like:
Andrea is slender and attractive but not overly so and dresses modestly in order to keep attention from falling on her too often. Her blonde hair is cut in a bob and she has cool blue eyes and pale skin. Her clothing often consists of a plain, brown, woll dress and a shawl for warmth. Her holy symbol is hidden in the etchings of a false Pharasma symbol as part of her cover.

Where is your character from, and what social background:

Andrea is from Ustalav, born in one of the villages that dot the countryside. She is effectively a peasant, not having yet achieved any special rank.

Silver Crusade

One of my previous players has indicated he'd like to return to play. So he has a spot. Some really good submissions. Looking forward to playing with the group we select.

Nodea, the Songbird

Give me what class you want to play - If it's PFS legal, you can play it, except the new Occult stuff, sorry, I don't have time to learn those rules. What race you want to play. The relative age of your character, young adult, adult, middle aged, Old.

Nodea is a female tengu sorcerer, of the Serpentine bloodline. She's a young adult, at 20 years old.

Create 3 influential NPCs from your backstory. Along with 1 sentence on why they were important. I prefer one to be a source of conflict, one to be a friend/loved one and one to be anything of your choice - a mentor, a rival, a lover etc.

NPC#1-Conflict Zuwenda Kirskill (LG Female human, anti-bandit) - Zuwenda crusades fiercely against bandits, and helped capture most of Nodea's old band. She's quite the completionist, and the Songbird could become her target.

NPC#2-Parental Figure Kellius Treysan (NE Male half-orc, bandit captain) - Kellius helped hatch Nodea's egg and raised the Songbird. Possessed of his own sorcerous powers, he started her on the path to unlocking her arcane powers.

NPC#3-Mentor White Rose (NG Female dwarf, priestess of Shelyn) - White Rose, so named for the flowers she braids through her hair, took Nodea in after Kellius' band was captured. She inducted Nodea into Shelyn's faith, completing her arcane education and teaching her to use her powers to noble ends.

Give 3 moments of personal development for your character. A sentence or two as to how that shaped you. Perhaps a moment of loss, triumph, frustration, joy or sorrow.

Moment #1 Her Egg Being Found "Boss said they didn't know what to do with it. Thought it was a dragon's egg, ha!"

Moment #2 The Bandits are Captured "I could barely manage a cantrip back then, what was I supposed to do against Shelynite warriors? Watched them haul Kellius into chains, and then never looked back."

Moment #3 Departure from White Rose "I'd been with White Rose a while, then. Came back from my flower-picking to find her gone, my things packed, and a note saying that it was time for her Songbird to fly."

Give me what motivates your character in a word: Ambition, Greed, Revenge,

Wanderlust, etc. Then give me one sentence as to why that motivates your character.

Direction. Nodea has been under the command of others for most of her life, and she is finally free to do as she wills. That means a journey into the Stolen Lands, trying to test and further her skills.

3 Sentences or less describing what your character looks like.

Nodea is a pretty typical tengu, about 4.5 ft. tall and slender. Her feathers are glossy black, but she frequently dyes portions of them to other colours. Her nails are naturally dark green and her eyes are pale yellow. She likes to weave and wear flower crowns in her free time out of whatever is local.

And last, where your character is from and what social status they're from.

Nodea was raised in the Stolen Lands, then in the southern Brevic wilds with White Rose, but she moved to Grayhaven after departing Rose's company. She's an outsider, unfamiliar with polite society, and has almost no resources beyond what she carries.

Background:

Male Half-Orc Bloodrager (Steelblood) [Destined Bloodline]

Ponderosa, that's me. I'm a minor half-orc noble in the city of Grayhaven in Brevon. Like most young adults, I'm just waiting for a chance to be something more than a political pawn.

People

1. Azar, my human mother. As a noble who bore me out of wedlock, she can't see me as anything but her own personal failure.

2. Gil, a dwarven blacksmith and a good friend. He trained me in fighting but I think it's just so he can have someone to model his armor.

3. Ivonne, a female half-elf noble. She has some sort of hidden agenda and I can tell she's taken an interest in me, but it's not the romantic kind.

Personal Development

1. Mother left me to stumble my way through the vicious politics of nobles when I was barely a teen. Made it clear how even civilization had the bite of savagery in it and I'd need more than brute strength to survive.

2. Gil started training me by having me run around in full armor delivering supplies around the city. Some River Kingdom thugs thought it'd be a great idea to try to mug me for one reason or another; sometimes brute strength really was what you needed.

3. Nobles sometimes entertained mercenaries and adventurers, swordlords and heroes. They could tell their stories freely or had to be convinced with alcohol, but their tales gave me hope that someone could be more than just where they came from.

Motivation

Validation. Mother made it clear I'd never be enough for her, and I don't think I ever will be, but I want something that tells me I'm more than just a mistake.

Appearance
Beast, that's what they call me behind my back when they think I'm not listening, but I can hear them fine with these pointy ears. Hate to admit it but they have a point: can't hide the fact I look more orc than human. Done what I can, styling my hair, taking care of my skin, resorting to cosmetics and blunting my tusks to seem more like decorations than weapons, but I'm too broad, too brawny, too much like a threat towering over most people with my height.

Personality and Appearance:

Sleek like a cat Buddara's cuts and curves seem to project a strength and fluidity possessed by a round stone in a flowing river. Her dark skin gives the exotic and deadly allure of Calstria herself. While capable of feeling emotions herself discipline rare lets her express more than she intends. While her monks clothing reveals very little of what lies beneath her movements in them say it all, they say dedicated, deadly, efficient. She wears her long hair in tight corn rows upon her head, rarely ever letting them out. She radiates an intensity that the is almost oppressive yet some how inspiring. Often the first to action she does not lack in initiative nor is she the type to act too impulsively.

Character Backstory:

When Buddara was 5 years old her parents murdered by demons. Being faith worshipers Irori she was sent to be raised at an all female Temple. The she was taught to train her body and mind to self perfection. She was able to take this much of this training and excelled beyond all of her counter parts except in one area. She deeply internalized the idea of perfection and was relentless in her pursuits. However she was never quite able to stretch the concept to its fullest. By this it is meant that she never able to let go. Never able to quell the driving fury within herself, this led her away from a more than basic understanding of the spiritual aspects. She instead became more dogmatic and intent on making physical changes to push herself and others toward perfection. At the age of 15 she became one of the temples best teachers of the physical aspects of the martial arts.

However, the fury building in her was never quite satisfied and she longed to bring her teachings and that of Irori to the outside world. So she requested permission to preach in the street about the ways of Irori, his truth and light. So 5 days a week she would go out into the street and perform feats of strength and stamina, and how Irori's teaching had allowed her to develop the ability to achieved such things. One day while explaining the search for self perfection to a Knight on the street, she was called out. The knight said sarcastically "If you want to go spread the good word why don't you do it in the stolen lands. I hear Rostland is hire people to clean it up and possibly resettle it." After investigating this comment and finding it to be true, Buddara asked the abbet of her temple to allow her to under take the journey.

3 Influential npc and why they were important (conflict, friend, mentor)

Aris Lokos - Conflict - Aris was a friend of Ragnar's in Brevoy, they became fast friends and had several adventures on the Brevoy frontiers, until they were ambushed by Ogres and fearing for his life Aris shot Sirea in the leg and made his own escape.

Family - His family in Mivon fulfill several roles but they are very important to him and suffice for a influential npc role.

Kasten Raethos - A "Fixer" that saw some potential (To make him coin) in Ragnar and has been looking out for ways and means for Ragnar to be able to make his fortune. He has been introducing Ragnar to various parties in an attempt to get Ragnar a break.

3 moments of personal development loss, triumph, joy, sorrow, frustration

Joy
He gained his parents blessing for him to go out into the world and make his name for himself
Ragnar decided he wanted to be famous as a great warrior skilled as any Swordlord, but as an archer he needed to find a place where he could be respected for his craft. He decided to travel to Brevoy and make his name on the frontiers.

Loss
Betrayal by his friend Aris and loss of his lover Sirea. Sirea with an arrow in her leg could not escape and was killed by the Ogres, Ragnar would not leave her and only survived because was thrown into a ravine suffering grievous injuries, he managed to drag himself out of the ravine and was found by a hunter.

Inspiration
Ragnar was taken in by the kindly hunter Geran and nursed back to health by him and his wife. Unable to travel until he healed, Ragnar was inspired to keep going past his sorrows by the simple kindness of this family, which so reminded him of his own family. He vowed one day to repay their kindness

3 sentences or less describing looks

Well built, just shy of 6 feet, rugged but plain features, has an honest but don't mess with me outlook. When his guard is down his smile dominates his face and he laughs liberally. Generally wears comfortable, but rugged clothing that doesn't restrict his movement, same with his armour. Brown short hair, brown eyes.

Where from and what social status
Mivon River Kingdom -> Merchant/Soldier
Mother Merchant Wizard (Arissa) - has a small workshop/shop where she sells her wares, Ragnars minor magical talent came from her blood and attempts to teach him magic.
Father Captain of Archers (Rothon) - Ragnars teacher and motivation for leaving, being an archer in a city famed for swordsmanship is not very glorious and Ragnar decided he wanted not only to be capable but famous.
Sisters - Liana and Thesia both apprentice mages who have happily take to training under their mother.

Silver Crusade

Lover - Bindra Ban Csun:

Bindra is another boy from the male half of the monastery, across the river. While growing up Bindra and Budarra were rivals. Bindra insisted that he was better than Budarra simply on account of the fact that he was male. They competed often, but never fought for fear of being reprimanded. Budarra won most of these competitions. But when they reached the age of 15 they got into an actual fight. Budarra being the victor was thrilled, and Bindra being defeated finally saw Budarra's strength. Bindra was at once awestruck, desirous, covetous, and jealous of Budarra. Being of the age they were expressed the with these by courting her in secret. Budarra having little to no attention from other males given her circumstances fell for Bindra's advances and they began together a secret tryst. This tryst culminated with Bindra taking Budarra's virginity in secret, however soon after his attentions began to waver. Him being a boy of an age he found other prey and was eventually kicked out of the monastery for his promiscuity. Budarra soon after realizing his philandering was heart broken, swearing an oath of celibacy.
A rival turned lover this ruffian satiated her flame then broke her heart.

Mentor - Diana Lotus Flower:

Helped forge Budarra into the self directed individual she is.

Friend - Dar:

Budarra met Dar when the Abbet visiting from the temples all male counter part from across the river brought him on his annual inspection tour. He was a clever boy kind and gentle, but not a very good fighter. But what Dar did have was vast wisdom and charisma. But this was not his most interesting feature, which was his way with animals. Any animal he met he befriended, and studied. In this way he added to the Monks greater knowledge of fighting. It was this talent that drew Budarra to Dar. Being a serious and focused monk in training Budarra had never had time to observe animals never mind play with them. Dar taught her patience and empathy, she helped Dar learn the forms. After the Abbey left Budarra and Dar became the best of friends. Finding any chance they could to meet up and practice their skills.
Budarra's first true friend, he taught empathy and how to interact with animals.

Loss:

The loss of her parents is what shaped her the most. NO only did it help drive her but it is what brought her to the temple and her her lives work.

Triumph:

The conquest of Bindra was one of the greatest moment in Budarra's life, complete with physical, social, and sexual gratification. Despite how it later turned out the very moment it happened to her she for an instant felt complete. This moment solidified any doubt that she was meant to follow the path of Irori.
The defeat of her long time rival Bindra Ban Csun. Then the seeming conquest of his heart that followed.

Frustration:

For several years Budarra tried to bring the light of Irori to all. To help other improve themselves and reach their true potential. To strive toward self perfection. During this time she wad met with every miss understanding from pity to out right disdain. She was frustrate with how to show others the truth, to hold up the mirror to them and say this is who you are and this is who you can be and only you can achieve it. As a result of failures Budarra became increasingly determined to weed out her own flaws and equally less confident she could even find them.
The frustration with her own inadequacy in what seems to her like the last bastion of undiscovered self understanding. Along with lack of introspection and desire to self improve.
