Hey guys, gonna have to bail. I just need a while to think up a better character. I'm not digging this one. I'll keep you posted.

Just out of curiousity, who else is going to have a rival/nemesis/mean person in their story arc?

I do believe that I've already been introduced, though it may be a while before you all encounter me in person. ;)

No worries man. Just don't stay away too long! :)

In a slightly related subject, I just sent you good folk an email missive - please take a peak when you have the time to do so :)

As much as I would like to Tam, if we all drop out it may cause unwanted attention for Agartha. Plus, I still need to put him his place...

No one will see it coming. Unless he remembers something, in which case my plan will fail...:(

That's why I asked about both options. I want that little side-event to happen because it could potentially open up some interesting story possibilities.

Ah well - nothing worth doing's ever easy, right? ;)

Is confused. I thought this was where we would get the first inklings of the dear Duchess' existence. I'm guessing I'm wrong...do we just need to keep going south-ish then?

We seem to be between plots at the moment. I'm not ready to run the confrontation with Chan yet. I had originally planned it as a background storyline with the intention of it taking awhile to actually get there. Unfortunately we seem to have a lot of those at the moment. :)

Yeah - I seem to be the only other one who wants to avoid that confrontation at all costs at the moment LOL :D

Are you all looking for 'lil ole me?

Jiminy! I've missed you. We must continue your training. I have candy for you.

Whose voice is that?

Quiet, you spoiled b~#&$ wannabe empress!

Did someone say I'm going to be the empress?

ARRGGHHHH! Yes, you just have to drink this...potion, yeah potion.

Has taster try the potion. Taster drops over dead, her skin begins to boil off.

Why silly, I can spot a poison miles away. Would you like to sample my own blend? It even works on demons.

Errr...no, thank you.

Then be a good little demon and bring me some new subjects.

Fascinating. You really must work on controlling your host better, my dear.

It happens to the worst of us.

Just as a heads up, I showed a guy from Barrok's Tower.com the game thread, and he showed an interest in joining.

Minions. You can never have enough of them. ;)

Okay, I gotta admit it....I'm totally stalled out. This search and rescue is done and while I have a few minions in mind for ongoing harassment, I don't really have any feel for where the plot should go from here. Help.

Well.... if Chan knows about the Empire and doesn't think he can beat us alone, he may find a way out of Agartha and betray Agartha(and the few remaining Ametysht dragons) in order to beat us as long as he gets to rule over our little Underworld.

Which means we may have to travel across space(we've already done time) in order to stop him.

Which brings in Tamrin's problems of being hunted by a bunch of Cromatics...

Ask not for whom the bell tolls.... :)

Well, that would be why I tossed in the silver. :)

But I don't know much about the Dragon Empire, so that kinda tosses the ball back into Tam's court.

Which gives you time to think of something for the rebound! See, I can help even if it isn't my turn!

Okay, If I don't stop getting kicked off of the site and losing my posts...... >(

Anywhoo....Chan wouldn't risk exposing Agartha to the Empire just to get his claws on Aananda and kill the rest of us. He wants her, but he also wants to rule - and you can't rule if the place you want to rule over gets completely destroyed. And once he was found out for what he was, he would be a fugitive on the run, and unable to really be a threat.

On the other hand, if Chan stumbled on a way to get back into the Empire proper, I could definitely see him trying to quietly go about amassing power/technology/disgruntled beings to help cement his hold over Agartha. And what better way to do that without running the risk of being caught personally than to use a proxy...

Hmmmmm.....a dominated Silver.....interesting.....

Interesting indeed, isn't it? It scares me how much we can think alike sometimes ;P

A powerful silver, found wounded and vulnerable, so weak from blood loss and battle that his (or her) mind is ripe for 'reprogramming' by someone with considerable psionic skill. Someone like Chan.... >)

Not only a valuable source of information on the world (and galaxy) outside Agartha, but also the perfect agent to send back to bring him new toys to play with...

And I do so enjoy new toys. And of course my loyal servant wishes to make me happy. ;)

But of course ;)

Can you send me a more detailed 'mission statement' of what Chan wants, so I know where to focus things? ^.^

I want what every good supervillain wants...a fanatically loyal army that will do my bidding. MUA-HA-HA-Ha-ha.....

*cough* *cough*

Ahem.

More to the point, I would like weapons technology. Intimidation works wonders. And remote viewing tech, cameras and such. Fostering paranoia is such an effective way to maintain one's regime. And knowledge. I greatly desire knowledge. We'll start with history. It's so invaluable for teaching one what works and what doesn't. And any despotic regime that's lasted as long as the Empire should have much to teach me. ^.^

Yes, thank you.

*quickly scans lozenge for poison before putting it in his mouth*

Intimidating ones followers can be very hard on the vocal cords. :)

You'll be happy to know that voice amplification technology has come a long way in 5,000 years. It would be a great asset to your megalomaniacal presentation - nothing says "I'm bad" like a 50,000 watt sound system with subwoofers that make the floor feel like there's an earthquake coming from your very voice.

I'll just add that to the list, your despoticness...

[scribble scribble]

I need to stop..... ;D

No, you don't. Keeping giving him more tech, I won't mind one bit...

Guess I need to start chewing on some ideas for this mission...quest...thing... ;)

I'll see what I can come up with.

So....my guess it that the portal/wormhole connecting Agartha back to the Dragon Empire is not in Chan's jungle - Dantyres would have been discovered by Chan rather quickly if that were the case.

We need a more remote location...but something our merry band can have a chance of discovering.

Discuss.

:D

Right now I'm thinking that the portal was an accidental discovery by Dantyres. If it had been part of a concerted research project, Agartha would already be in a world of hurt right now ;)

Since some members of the Asamet clans are trying to undermine the authority of Mezzenbone's rule (just as the chromatic Qesemet clans tried to do to them for the last 5,000 years), perhaps he was looking for remote locations to establish bases of operation for that. This is work with a high level of plausible deniability involved, and would have to be kept 'hush-hush' for obvious reasons.

Yeah....that's the ticket :)

[Helm of 40-Watt Brilliance] Argh. Forgot about the scrying toys in the tricked-out lair. [/Helm of 40-Watt Brilliance]

Okay - just need to pick the spot then :P

Well, he was in the jungle, so probably somewhere not too far away. Obviously not right in Chan's sphere of influence, but perhaps farther south? If he was searching for a remote location he might have been trying to find somewhere away from people.

Yeah - if it's too close, the group won't have much chance to get to it. It should be far enough away to be at least a mild inconvenience for Chan, unless he wants to start expending resources to push out his borders and subsume the area where the portal is. Decisions, decisions, and all that... :)

Hmmm...maybe in a mangrove swamp/forest along a coastline? Agartha's probably got something like inland seas, given its size (or at least some huge lakes). Remote, but with access to resources (especially for a dragon who can fly).

Sounds good. I'm sure there are some small seas/large lakes scattered throughout Agartha. And a mangrove swamp would be far south, and while he would nibble away at the intervening area, Chan is very careful not to overextend his resources. He wants to be a successful evil overlord after all. :)

Plus, it would be perfectly accessible to Chan if he really needed to get there, but he's not going to let on to his new servant that that's the case. :)

We even have a way to track some of his moevments, using Ryleh's memories of the time she watched him.

I remember Ryo saying something about a lake his family visited when he was younger. Gems grew in the waters there, so something similar(if not the exact lake) would work nicely for any dragon. A naturally growing hoard would be wanted by chromatics, gems, and metallics alike.

But I'm sure the mangrove swamp could be a neat place to explore/fight in!

The mangrove thing just popped in my head for some reason. Should make an interesting venue (however brief that may be) :)

Female Kobold

Hey, I was curious as to how this PbP worked. It doesn't seem to follow any rules, so is it a Free Form Roleplaying? And, a lot of you were probably dreading this question, but is it open? Or is there some waiting list?

Kobold Cleaver wrote:

I hope you're enjoying the story so far :)

To answer your question - not exactly. While some parts of it are a bit freeform, we have also statted many things out (with some of our characters being the best example), using the Pathfinder rules with a few 3.0/3.5 and homebrew inclusions for extra 'flavor'. We're trying to find a balance between quantifiable rules and story-friendly handwaving to prevent the return of any of the 'god-modding' that tore the OTD threads apart last year.

Kobold Cleaver wrote:

This PBP is not open currently, no. We have two others who are on temporary hiatus and will be rejoining us when real life allows, but we're purposefully keeping the attendance small so we can (hopefully) maintain the quality of the storyline and not have too many delays / problems if folks can't post.

I also hope you are liking the story! And thanks to my newly purchased Heroes of Horror book, I have some great ideas for our future that should be.. unexpected, to say the least.

This is true. I statted up Keaton Bloodfang and Razule for the sole purpose of keeping their power down. Even Ryo's cards are based off of actuall spells. For example,

Guardian: Summon Golem
Shield: Resiliant Sphere
Gate: Should need no explanation...

+2 to the glad you like the story. :)

I'm probably the one playing most fast and loose with the stats, but even I have them for this game. It's interesting finding the right balance, and sometimes requires some creative improvising, but so far it seems to be walking that line pretty well. :)

And one of these days I really will get Aananda's stats written down so I don't have to have three documents open during every combat turn. :)
