GM Pyros |

Welcome! This is the recruitment thread for my brand new home-brew setting!
This is YOUR chance to be a part of shaping the face of the world forever.
New cosmology with mysteries to be plumbed! Several Pantheons of deities and room for custom gods! Unique cultures to encounter and Lands to explore!
You stand at the precipice of the next Epoch of history. The Dragons have all but disappeared from the known world, humanoids rise and tame lands upon which their kind have never set foot. Lords seek to establish Dynasties, warring tribes, kingdoms and species crawl over each other for power and relics of the ancient past, ripe for claiming, to use to dominate their enemies.
Lines are being drawn across the lands and it is the Mythic heroes of this time that will be the Legends that shape the world for generations!
STORY!
You are off to face your fate, whichever way the winds will you. You start aboard a ship but will make for shore soon enough. DUN DUN DUUUUUUN! You will have to survive the trials of a savage and untamed land before you can venture forth and take up the mantle of your destiny.
We are open for submissions.
Characters: 15 point-buy, All core materials, Featured Races from d20pfsrd.com, most archetypes and PRC’s from APG, UM, UC.
—ARG material is available with approval, but have a contingency plan, and no to ACG at this point.
CLERICS!
You have new gods. PM me if you are interested in the clergy or if you want some other Divine source of power. There are secrets and mysteries for you.
- And if you just want to be religious there will be a god for you, Don’t worry!
RULES:
We’re going to be going Mythic, so think about your Destiny and tell me about it!
There is going to be Kingdom-building, and downtime rules, as well as Mass Combat, and potential for Naval Battle as well, depending on where the party goes.
I’m planning on using the Wounds and Vitality system as well as start things off with Armor as DR. If that turns out to suck, we could always change it, but I want to try it out.
The World!
The mainland is pretty much a low magic E6 setting. 4th level spells are nearly unheard of, Resurrection is solely the purview of the highest ranked Druids, the greatest Arch-mages are about 7th level.
-BUT-
Mythic creatures walk the lands, epic battles are fought, mere mortals taste divinity, and there is a whole multiverse to explore, not just one continent.

Dotting. This sounds interesting.
Oh, and a question: You said all core, plus featured races as well as PRCs and Archetypes from APG, UM and UC. What about the base classes from those books? I assume it's implied they are allowed, but it sounds a bit like they are not. Just looking for clarification.

GM Pyros |

I'm looking to start in 2 to 3 weeks, based on interest and time it takes to get characters rolled. And it'll be a normal PBP
Yes, base classes are more than welcome. Only classes that are out are the hybrid classes due to lack of familiarity. Sorry about the lack of clarity.
Also forgot to mention, you get 2 traits and, with approval I will allow a third trait with a Flaw, depending on the flaw.
Edit.
Since the setting is custom, and I'm still developing aspects of the world, once you post a build, I'll work with you to get the backstory and figure out some ideas for your mythic destiny.
You decide WHO your character is, and then we fit him or her into the world!

Pigtails |

Count me in then! Was thinking something along the lines of a 'tanky' Phalanx Soldier/Sacred Shield - had a rough plan before but the game never got off the ground. Of course, considering the fact that we'll be starting with two variant rules I've never used for combat, hopefully I can hammer out something at least semi-effective!
Is there any particular way you'd like character sheets done up? How frequent might you want posts to be? Can't say I've done a game on the Paizo boards before so not entirely sure if there are particular norms I should be keeping in mind.

GM Pyros |

I'd like you to create an Alias on the board, and paste your sheet in the About Me section of your profile. I'd also like you to put your VItality, Wounds, Defense, DR/armor, Saves, Initiative and Perception in your Header. I set up the GM profile to demonstrate how it'll look as the bare bones.
As far as Mythic goes, Players aren't starting mythic, but will be getting mythic power.
Take a look at the methods of Mythic Ascension, Artifact, Fated, Godling, Granted, Passed On, or think of your own way of gaining power that fits what you want your character to become.
You will also have a "Mythic Flaw", which is going to be your character's biggest secret, if they know it from the start. I'm not going to exploit it, but use it as a story hook.
As for pacing, I have a somewhat hectic schedule, but I'd like to shoot for at least one or two posts daily, or at least every other day from players.
I can't wait to see your characters!

GM Pyros |

The concept sounds fine. I'll have to get you information on Tengu in the world, and you won't start with royal desorbed, but when the kingdom is founded, there can be settlers from your home country.
I do want to note that if two people build future rulers, they may be putting themselves in direct competition, where if there is potential to take multiple leadership roles, it may be easier to find a place in the party. But that's only if there's competition

GM Pyros |

I'd like to avoid the 3pp stuff, but a trendy bats would be good. If you want to be traveling with people, that's fine, although I can't promise they will all make it. The world is a dangerous place. };]
Yes to average starting gold. Early on, you may lose some or most of your gear, but I wouldn't fiat away special items cause that's not fun

GM Pyros |

I've thought about it and I'm going to say no to rich parents for this game
Part of the game's early stages will involve dealing with limited resources and the challenges from limited materials rather than just CR. So having 900 gp to start kinda defeats that purpose, or the trait investment is rendered moot if you didn't buy the things you need or don't have a way to spend cash until later when the 900 gp doesn't make a very big difference.

Sounds great! Whoever leads, I'd like to play as their shady spiritual advisor. Bongub, a goblin and Oracle of Bones, with dreams of replacing Venklevore as the Goblin God of the Grave (Hierophant Mythic Hero). The logic is, as a young goblin, he was thrown into a crypt and forgotten. Here he saw the power of the dead, and realized that the dead were not all evil, and could--in fact--do good. This conflicts with the goblin worship of Venkelvore and so he was cast out for this thought process. For ascension, I'm thinking he's approached by Charon and is granted the power to work his way to be his emissary among the Goblins (i.e. "I'm the god of death for most creatures, you can be a minor deity under me for the goblins, but only if you prove yourself").
Alias to follow.

Oceanshieldwolf |

@The Little King - I'm unfamiliar with the gods you mention, but if they are Paizo/Golarion then they may not exist in the GM's world, or may need new names to fit. In the OP GM Pyros specifies that new Gods inhabit this campaign setting.
Unless of course, those you mention are GM Pyros Gods. In which case I'll butt back out... ;)

Akarine |

Pigtails here. After a long time debating of whether I should stick with the Phalanx Soldier idea (and a lot of flip-flopping between Magus and Fighter) I decided to play an Oracle since I've never tried one out before! Looks to be an interesting class to say the least, though it does make me a little upset that a lot of the 'scrying' effects are locked into the Seer archetype - may have to switch around a feat and take it so I can make the concept I have in mind (although it is decidedly ineffective as far as combat capabilities are concerned!)
Will PM you in a sec Pyros about faith and all of that jazz.

Gundahar Brandt |

I would like to apply with Sir Newton Cromwell. Backstory will depend on world setting, but I have a rough idea.
I can set up an alias later this evening, when I can use Herolab to generate a statblock.

Vahanian 89 |

Question for you Pyros. Would you be ok with a Nagaji race? But with a little twist. Instead of just being decended from snakes changing the flavor to decended from dragons? Ii so I would make a character that would be trying to find the dragons to see why they vanished. He would be working his way to Dragon Disciple for progression.

GM Pyros |

Damn the post monster... i was editing to add more responces and they got eaten. pardon me, i'll be in my weeping corner...
@ Oceanshieldwolf, and LittleKing
She is a golorion goblin goddess of death. I am thinking i might commandeer the Goblin Hero-gods in concept ad make some changes cause it's a really elegant pantheon. Venkelvor remains the death-goddess, Hadregash made goblins into Bugbear, Zarongel is patron of cavalry and Hobs, and Zogmugot is blamed for Grindylow
@ Gundahar Brandt, can you also think of something about his mythic ascention? What path are you thinking and how/why is he going to ascend? Beyond wishing to choose a more interestign life for himself what is his greater purpose?

GM Pyros |

What i was saying before, before the post-fail...
I had spoken to some of my friends about the game over the weekend and have been looking at characters for them. One has rolled up a wizard, and another is doing a goblin barbarian, I believe. The third is interested in rolling an Arcane Trickster.
@Thoyoitu, you don't need to take Mercurial mind yet, Sorry for the miscommunication, you would only need to take a drawback if you wanted a third trait. You get mercurial mind when you ascent to Mythic. I'd also mentioned to my friend that we didn't have any rogues yet so she took the look at arcane trickster. If there is another class that you might be interested in, it might be worth considering, although two roguish characters with teamwork feats could work.
@Vahanian89 I'm fine with that idea, flavoring Nagaji as Dragonkin rather than serpent. Naga and Dragon theoretically bear some similarities but at the end of the day nobody really knows since they are all pretty insanely powerful and incredibly rare. SO gimme some class and mythic thoughts as to how you're getting to Drgon Disciple and what path you would like.
@tooddles or sommat: Like the druid idea, we don't have one and they are fun classes, with potential in this world (also the only place you can get a Res form an NPC) For mythic, you'd take a look at the 6 paths, Archmage, Heriophant, Champion, Guardian, Marshal, and Trickster and figure out which you'd want to take (has a bearing on your destiny) and also how you think you would ascend.
Artifact: find something that grants you power
Fated: confluence of the universe and forces coluding to grant you power
Godling: you are descended from, going to become, exist by the will of etc a GOD
Granted: some higher being gives it to you
Passed On: upon a creature's death you get power, maybe you take it, maybe it's given
So you become a Mythic Hero, get path abilities and mythic feats, Mythic SPellcasting (you need to take a power for that). there's a lot of information. You can PM me if you have specific questions about what do do with mythic and your build.

GM_Captain_Wombat |

I'm calling godling ascension for my Evil Cleric, who may be chaotic neutral or chaotic good, Talking to GM about it so she fits the world better. Also change of race to Aasimar as it fits better into my back story ideas now. She's I hope is going to be the core Healer of the party positive channeling + other stuff being worked out.
:0) very interesting ideas coming out her, loving the creativity.

Gundahar Brandt |

@ Gundahar Brandt, can you also think of something about his mythic ascention? What path are you thinking and how/why is he going to ascend? Beyond wishing to choose a more interestign life for himself what is his greater purpose?
Silence is an ancient blade that has lain dormant for centuries. Forged by the first Lord Cromwell, the blade has traditionally been passed from father to youngest son, a sign of expectation that the inheritor will earn his own place amongst the nobility.
Sir Newton Cromwell travels to the new world as a place of unbounded opportunity. A chance to carve his own kingdom out of the untamed wilds and lost civilizations that have come before. It is Sir Cromwell's drive to explore and conquer that awakens Silence, which in turn awakens the spark of divinity lying dormant in Sir Cromwell's blood, a forgotten legacy of Lord Cromwell.

Toodles or summat |

Totally existential, he never fit in with the other hobgobs, he's not inherently cruel or sadistic, really doesn't get race related stereotypes since he's seen slaves break those all the time. Doesn't believe in hobgob superiority, just superior planning, and one day he saw a halfling slave woman (it's always a halfling isn't it?) heavily pregnant and still being forced to work in the mines go into labor, she had managed to find some relatively remote corner to give birth but she couldn't keep herself hidden forever. While my character would have watched the process, fascinated, a pit boss also discovered her and made some derivative comment, the equivalent of, "thanks for the meal, lady" and picks up the squalling babe by the feet, ready to swing it over head and bash it on the rocky mountain side when I get my very first surge, incapacitate the pit-boss, save the baby and mother and get us all outta dodge.
