You've just arrived in a small village with the Lord and a number of guards, and will be with him as soon as he's introduced in the game thread (very shortly).
If we go for mounts, standard prices for mounts for small characters:
riding dog: 150gp
pony: 30gp
pony (combat trained): 45gp

Actually, I think he has 54 gold left over so should be able to afford one on his own. Seeing as he didn't help the crew and just arrived, that's probably more fair. But either way he'll definitely be trying to buy a mount as well.
I think We're going to need a load of supplies. I think there are only two of us that have survival, and no offense to Nazdip, but I doubt anyone wants a goblin-raised halfling to forage for them.

We can´t plan anything without the sale and the money. But with that money we should buy food, paper, ink, something to write. It would be approximately 50 gp, we will receive for the stuff. And if everyone decide to buy a pony, it should be with the 50 gp that each one will receive to start the mission. I think we all will buy the pony. All agree? Or do you think we should only buy food?
Not just food, but waterskins and a tent or two, depending on how big of a one we need. I don't think having everyone on a pony is going to work well, I know I didn't put any ranks into ride or handle animal. I think having a pack animal or two would work out better. If we're going to be staying on the roads a cart or wagon would be a good thing as well.
You don't need handle animal or ride just to use a mount for travel, only for some elements of combat riding (or teaching the animal new tricks).
Nazdip's right. The mounts are mostly going to be just for travel, which doesn't require any ranks in Ride. And I will tell you, there will be LOTS of travel.
In the long run, yes, we will want to invest in carts, etc. For now though, we'll see how much money we can muster up, and we should each at least get something to ride. :)
For the low strength party members, a mount will be particularly useful, as otherwise you will always be overencumbered once we start having a lot of gear to carry around.
Ok, you've convinced me. I'll take the extra 50 gold so kindly offer so I can buy a mount AND lots of supplies so we don't starve in the wilderness.
Besides, we're halflings... close enough to hobbits that morale may depend on not missing tea time and 'first supper' ;)

Remember the mission is to explore and to map the area. But I guess we can buy many things in Oleg´s.
I'm going to let you guys police yourselves as far as tracking rations. It's just one extra thing I don't want to worry about. I'll expect you to buy them and make an attempt at keeping track of them, but won't make a big deal over them.
Muroi: I figured buy whatever we needed for traveling, and we can restock on Oleg's, like you said.
If someone can't afford a saddle, don't buy one for now, you can always buy one later. All riding bareback does is give a -5 penalty on ride checks, which are only really required if you're riding in combat. Saddlebags will let you use your mount for carrying stuff as well.
When we get to our destination we should probably buy a cart, they're cheap (15gp) and two of our ponies can pull it. That will be useful for bringing stuff back to civilization if we need to sell expensive items, etc.
Ok Nazdip, it´s my first time buying a mount. So, I will try to do what you do. So far, we both have bought a pony. We should wait and see what happens with the other members of the group.

On to other things, Buying a mount, a saddle and bags is probably going to clean most of the group out. We should use the money from selling the bandit gear to buy rations, a tent, mapping tools (I hope somebody can use them), and anything else we can thing of and afford. one thing I was thinking of was buying the cart now and have us all ride in that until we have to get out.
Well, it would still take 2 ponies or a horse to pull a cart. Ponies don't scare me, but a horse I will be likely to want to kill in its sleep. We're level 1, everybody's always broke at level 1, in a couple of levels we'll have more money than a typical citizen has ever seen in his lifetime, if we're anywhere close to wealth-by-level. :P

I've got 2.7GP left right now. I can contribute 1GP to communal gear if someone is purchasing that. I have a hammock and other camping friendly gear, so I'm happy sleeping under the stars if it comes down to that.
I've got 5 coppers left, if that'll get us any gear I'll give them up, but Terri is pretty much broke.
I don´t have money. But I think that buying the tent, map maker´s kit and the compass we can do it. I have food for 4 days and my pony has food for 2 days. So, I think we can arrive to oleg´s. What do you say? Do I buy it and start moving on?

Medium tent - 15gp, 10lbs (holds 4 halflings)

So, several of us do not have the coin to make a significant dent in that. If someone does buy a medium tent, I will be fine sleeping under the stars and letting the other halflings squeeze in.
In my opinion we shouldn't bother until we get to our destination and see what living arrangements are available there, and how quickly we can gather some money to actually pay for stuff.
