Opening the thread now in case there are any changes to your characters I should know about (Trap spotter, new Initiative, etc.)

![]() |

Checking in.

![]() |

It doesn't say it in the title, but I want to confirm and be extra careful ... everyone's planning on this being CORE, right?
Ah, it *does* say it on the tactical map. Good.

![]() |

Yeap, I'm CORE.

![]() |

I may have some CORE GM credit (PbP) land before the 19th, which would push Thiera to 3 as well ... will that screw up the APL, or does it need to be delayed until this adventure is over?

Dungeon Master S |

No, I don't think it'll change unless EVERYONE is level 3.

![]() |

Hun leveled up! He now has Init +8 | Perc +6 and picked up Rogue Finesse, so hopefully he will be hitting much more with both weapons (hopefully in sneak attack mode!)
His sheet has been updated!

![]() |

You know you can change to unchained rogue for free and get weapon finesse for free as well as a dex bonus to damage...

![]() |

D'oh. Caught out by my own cleverness. Or Lack Thereof.

![]() |

Interesting - I haven't checked out the unchained stuff yet, other than being forced to redo my summoner. I'll have to check it out.

![]() |

Barbarian... I'd probably not do unless you wanted to TWF.
monk is about 50/50.
Rogue is pure upgrade. I actually think they made the unchained rogue a bit too good. I didn't have any problems with the original, but weapon finesse for free, dex to damage (with one weapon) and some other niffy benefits.. Pure gold.

![]() |

I agree with auriferous on all accounts.

![]() |

The classes are the only useful part of unchained for PFS. Unfortunately, the classes are about 10% of the book.
Mostly its a collection of potential house rule systems. Some interesting ideas for simplifying skills (some of which, I think if watered down should make it over to vanilla Pathfinder—e.g. merging Diplomacy and Intimidate, much like Pathfinder merged Listen and Spot into Perception all those years ago.)

![]() |

From what I've read, vanilla monk is better for a Dex or Wis build monk, and the UC monk is better for a Str build monk.
The Rogue is definitely an upgrade, though, with effectively three new free feats (Weapon Finesse, finesse damage and skill unlocks)

![]() |

Appreciate the insight... As pretty much a noob, I always benifit from listening to more experienced players about the many nuances of this game!

Dungeon Master S |

Hey everyone, just wanted to give you a quick heads up. Game day starts on a Saturday. Anyone who's played with me knows that I post 7 days per week, and check my games multiple times per day.
That being said, the Game Day starts the day I finish a 200 mile relay race. While I only run about 20 miles of it in bursts, I'll be mostly MIA that day. So, I'll be around with my normal regularity, just not likely until that night. So, don't worry, I didn't go missing, I'm just either running or unconscious. I promise. :-)

![]() |

Thanks! Leg 1 is the White Mountains. Leg 2 is the dead of night. Leg three is 7 am on flat ground.

Great Green God |

Thanks! Leg 1 is the White Mountains.
White Plume Mountains? Stay clear of that white water rafter, Bluto Sans Pite. Dude's a jerk.

Dungeon Master S |

Huzzah and +1 for the 1e reference!
I ran that back in the day, and again in the Return mission in Greyhawk in the early 2000s

![]() |

I have to admit, when I read the end of this thread I was thinking
White Mountain?
Dead of Night?
Are they new season seven scenarios?
Then "leg three is 7am on flat ground" it changed to "ahh, a murder mystery".
I gota play less.
White Plume mountain was a killer. Vampires with soul draining swords. Whelm the hammer inside the bubble inside the lake of boiling water. I'm not sure I can remember the third weapon now - a Trident or was that Whelm?. Lots of traps and puzzles, spinning chambers to walk though. Platforms hanging over more lava.
All back in the good old days of save or die.

Hey guys, just a thought here as I plan my games out. This group works very well together, and the Game Day has 2 slots. I wouldn't mind picking a game to run AFTER this one that's still a Game Day Core game. Feel free to pick from any of the following:
00-05 Mists of Mwangi
00-06 Black Waters
00-08 Slave Pits of Absalom
00-13 The Prince of Augustana
00-23 Tide of Morning
01-33 Assault on the Kingdom of the Impossible
01-39 Citadel of Flame
01-45 Delirium’s Tangle
00-07 Among the Living
00-14 The Many Fortunes of Grandmaster Torch
00-17 Perils of the Pirate Pact
00-24 Decline of Glory
I am also going to put this out there. If interested I'm more than happy to commit to running through the 4 part series The Devil We Know:
01-29 The Devil We Know I: Shipyard Rats
01-30 The Devil We Know II: Cassomir’s Locker
01-41 The Devil We Know III: Crypt of Fools
01-48 The Devil We Know IV: The Rules of the Swift

![]() |

I would love to continue. I have played the first two parts of the Devil we Know in standard, but can still play Core.
For the others, I have already done= many of them in Core.
I can still do the following, though:
00-23 Tide of Morning
01-33 Assault on the Kingdom of the Impossible (Played in standard)
01-39 Citadel of Flame
00-07 Among the Living
00-14 The Many Fortunes of Grandmaster Torch
00-17 Perils of the Pirate Pact
00-24 Decline of Glory
I have no preference otherwise - any would be good for me.

Great Green God |

I'm good either way (or even both ways if you like).
I had read somewhere that it was permissible to run other 1st level characters through 1st level adventures for credit. If that's true I'm probably good for almost anything.

![]() |

I'd love to, but Auri is already scheduled for Siege of Serpents in the second gameday slot - assuming she survives.
If that didn't work for some reason then as this is a CORE game, could do any of the scenarios listed, although the only ones I have not played in classic are
1-33 Assault on the Kingdom of the Impossible AND
01-45 Delirium’s Tangle

I had read somewhere that it was permissible to run other 1st level characters through 1st level adventures for credit. If that's true I'm probably good for almost anything.
As I understand it, it's T1-2 only adventures, but not T1-5 with a 1-2 sub-tier. So, "Confirmation" and "WBG", for example, but not necessarily another T1-5 scenario.
All Tier 1 scenarios and Tier 1–2 sanctioned modules are available for unlimited replay with a 1st-level character for credit. The sanctioned modules may also be played with a 2nd-level character once for credit in each mode. GMs may receive another Chronicle sheet each time they run one of the Tier 1 scenarios or Tier 1–2 sanctioned modules, but may only apply a Chronicle sheet to one 2nd-level character per adventure.
Some scenarios have different (or, at least more specific) rules that are printed inside the scenario itself.
This is just my understanding. It is not gospel, and my interpretation could be mistaken.

Great Green God |

The Night Before Game Day
With apologies to Clement Clarke Moore
'Twas the night before Game Day, when all through the house
not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The minis on the mantle had been painted with care,
in hopes that St. Jacobs soon would be there.
The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
while visions of adventure played in their heads.
And Mama with her fighter, and my redeemed darkfire adept,
had just stolen into the lair of that false Razmiran sect.
When out on the roof there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my chair to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
tore open the shutter, and threw up the sash.
The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
gave the lustre of midday to objects below,
when, what to my wondering eyes should into view dance,
but a miniature sleigh and eight writers who freelance!
With a haggard editor, fresh from an all-nighter,
I knew in a moment it must be Wes Schneider.
More rapid than eagles, his coursers they came,
and he whistled and shouted and called them by name:
"Now Tim! Now Nick!
Now, Greg and Amber!
On, Richard! On, John!
On, Mike and Mr. Baur!
To the top of the porch!
To the top of the wall!
Now dash away! Dash away!
Dash away all!"
As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
when they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky
so up to the house-top the coursers they flew,
with the sleigh full of gamer swag, and audio dramas too.
And then, craning my ear to the roof perpendicular
I could hear the heavy tread boots of each contributor.
As I drew in my head and was turning around,
down the chimney Young Wes came with a bound.
He was dressed all in fake fur, for they are not overfond
of that sort of thing in blue Washington's progressive Redmond.
A bundle of books he had flung on his back,
and he looked like a peddling librarian opening his pack.
His eyes--how they twinkled! His dimples, how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
and the beard on his chin was in need of a mow.
The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
and the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath.
He looked a bit high, and slightly less than regal,
but that's what you get in a State where pot is half-legal.
His character, a multi-class ninja pirate half-dinosaur elf,
its huge Hero Lab sheet made me laugh, in spite of myself.
With a wink of his eye and a flip of his thumb
he showed me the new archetype that was yet to come.
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his editing work,
and corrected our character sheets, even Bill's the rules jerk.
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
and giving a nod, up the chimney he rose.
He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, 'ere he drove out of sight,
"Happy Game Day to all, and to all a good game night!"

Huzzah! Sorry guys. Just finished my last leg. A happy little jaunt of 5.7 miles in 90 degree weather. Hills are stupid. Will post when I stabilize

![]() |

BTW, if you move, you can't full attack, so you can't two weapon fight. That is one of the few draw-backs to TWF though. TWF rogues for the win.

![]() |

Circle gets the square...
Acknowledged, and will probably forget a few more times before it is cemented! Thanks! I still get one stab with the move since I have a BAB of +1 at level 2, right?

![]() |

Yeap, and remember your first attack is at an extra +2 as there is no TWF penalty. Hopefully not needed anyway with the amount of damage that Auri does, but best to learn in a non-lethal situation.
That is, hoping this is non lethal. At least to us.

![]() |

Sure. When we're done here, I want:
Charm Person
Comprehend Languages
Mage Armor
Magic Weapon
Obscuring Mist
Reduce Person
Sleep
True Strike
So that's 80 gp for me.

![]() |

Sure I'll use the wand for you.
I can also help with know(arcana) checks.

Thiera will be level 3 after this. A bit of a GM baby, and leveling faster than companions. I don't want to push the APL too high.
That said, I agree, and love the interaction with this group. Some very creative people here.
Given the choice, I'd like to see any scenarios that take place in the frozen north, as it's thematic to my visualization of Thiera's background, but I'm up for whatever.
CANNOT do:
#0-03 Murder on the Silken Caravan
#0-08 Slave Pits of Absalom
#3-19 Icebound Outpost
Maybe we could do Shades of Ice (I–III), if everyone has it available and is willing to commit?

![]() |

When we have time (at the end of the adventure), Thiera will scribe the following from Piper:
1st: jump (Trans), ray of enfeeblement (Necro)
2nd: mirror Image (Illus), glitterdust (Conj), blindness/deafness (Necro)
All can be accomplished by taking 10 on needed skill rolls.
Cost 20+120 = 140 gp. (Do spells scribed this way need to be noted on chronicle? I think so, per p. 37 of the PFS RP Guild Guide.)
Thiera will also also add the following due to level-up at the end of this scenario. Piper is welcome to scribe these too. [ooc](Level up from XP received from GM chronicle during this adventure.)[ooc]
2nd: scorching ray (Evoc) and summon monster II (Summ)
