Aurelia finds her voice taken from her as the mighty orcish warrior falls to the ground with a terrible, terrible blow. No, those aren't tears in her eyes, it's just... dusty around here. With the fog and all, y'know?

Feeling rage (and even a smattering of guilt) overcome her, she resists the strong urge to step up and start sinking daggers into that freaking halfling so he could feel the same pain. This is why we keep them in line as slaves, lest they turn into murderous psychopaths!

"KILL THEM!" she manages to shout out at her eagle, who dutifully follows suit with a bite to the masked woman's neck and a talon raked across her scalp.

Meanwhile, Aurelia is busy channelling the last reserves of her magic. With a final, spitting syllable in Infernal, black tar yet again springs from her fingertips, this time coating the ground beneath the two women. (Both need to make a DC 15 Reflex or fall prone, and it takes a DC 10 Acrobatics check to move through the grease.)

Aurelia's bird rips into the masked woman, but not enough to eliminate her as a threat yet. She is able to stay on her feet when the area is coated in Grease, but the blonde woman falls on her rear.

"NU!" Ophelia cries, seeing the axe crash into Belroar's chest. Though there's no mistaking the sound of a sternum cracking and ribs splintering under the force of the blow, though she knows that internal organs have been punctured and death would have been instant, she still drops to her knees beside the half-orc, pressing both hands into the wound and calling on the only power she knows.

"Oh Pharasma, ascultă rugăciunea mea! Nu luați această creatură încă! Nu acum, când încă mai avem nevoie de el!"

Varisian:
"NO!"

"Oh Pharasma, hear my prayer! Don't take this creature yet! Not now, when we still have need of him!"

Casting cure light wounds. I know it won't do anything, but let's face it - Ophelia's a healer, first and foremost. While she trusts Pharasma to take people when it's their time, she's frankly stunned that this happened, and probably in denial. Consider this a turn spent wasting time.

Gamemaster | CC Map | S4 Map

Ophelia tries in vain to save Belroar, but the damage is too severe despite her healing magic.

"Halli, kill that infernal bird." The masked woman commands.

The blonde woman rises up slowly and tosses another acid dart at the summoned bird which misses again. "Sorry, Deandre!"

Deandre stands up carefully and attempts to strike the fiendish eagle herself. Her shortsword cuts into the bird, but not enough to return it to its home plane. 3 damage to the fiendish eagle

Aurelia's eagle gets an AoO against Deandre.

Eagle AOO: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 1 = 7

The eagle apparently has some difficulty striking the leader as she stands, but luckily Moadis is here to clean up anyway.

If Moadis kills her, the eagle will five foot "step" forward. Otherwise it'll focus on the masked woman.

Fly (Hover): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9 Yikes! The eagle falls to the ground, which is... well, it's probably 10 foot in the air, so it'll take falling damage.

Falling Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1 Ha, it lives! With 1 hit point left! However, I believe it will provoke an AOO from Deandre for falling.

Injured and weakened, the devilish eagle can barely sustain itself, and it loses altitude--fast. It crashes into the ground at Moadis' feet.

I will see if Deandre kills it before I make my move.

Moadis strikes the masked woman, but she remains standing. Aurelia's summoned eagle loses its aerial balance after avoiding the last acid ray and falls to the ground. Deandre attempts to finish it off, but the blurred vision she's experiencing from Moadis' attack puts her far off target.

It was a bit unclear to me that you wanted to move in your previous turn, Valik, so I did not move your icon. This is further complicated by Aurelia's eagle now taking up the front line spot. It's a small creature, so it's not possible for you to occupy the same spot. In the interest of moving things along, I'm going to place your icon behind Moadis on the map, your attack this turn wouldn't have hit anyway, I'm afraid. I expect Deandre to fall this turn or the beginning of the next which will allow you to move back to the front line.

Upon seeing the halfling go down, a loud "Ha!" sneaks its way out of Mel's throat. Wishing that he could slay both women at once, he steadies himself and does the only thing he can at the moment. Unfortunately, he is too concerned with hitting his buddies and the missile flies poorly. A slight blush of embarrassment touches his face as he remembers his little victory dance back in the caves with the bugs. If only he could have done so well when that damnable halfling emerged from the fog.... he'd still be trying to shoot around that big, deadly oaf.

With the eagle back in the air, I'm going to move Valik forward into the space he would have needed to occupy to attack the woman. If you'd prefer to stay behind Moadis, Valik, please let me know.

Melufiuous ranged attack suffers once again from the cramped conditions, his arrow missing its mark.

The fiendish eagle adeptly flies back up above Deandre, avoiding any attacks the woman might have made as it flew up. It manages also to rake her shoulder with its claw, but the woman remains standing. She does not look very healthy, however.

Thanks to the various obstructions in the alley, Aurelia's acid splashes harmlessly on the ground.

When the group returns to the Grand Lodge with Belroar's remains, Venture-Captain Ambrus Valsin is shocked to hear about the ambush and the inquisitor's untimely end. He points out that even simple tasks can have unforeseen dangers and reminds everyone to be ever vigilant when on missions for the Society. Afterwards, Valsin demands full written reports from everyone and the next day is spent being debriefed by other Venture-Captains and several individuals of varying importance.

Full burial rites are given to Belroar in the tradition of Gorum. After the religious service, the Grand Lodge hosts an emotionally moving memorial service in honor of Belroar, inviting friend, family, and colleagues to speak in memory of the fallen Pathfinder. When Valsin speaks, he makes special mention of Belroar's role in protecting the city of Nerosyan from demonic invasion. At the end of the ceremony, the name of Belroar Bloodlet is inscribed on the Wall of Names dedicated to all Pathfinders who bravely lost their lives in duty to the Society.
