According to the RAW that (using a full-round action for move) would put my character in "Busy street" square? If that is GM's ruling, I am fine with that.
It does seem a bit "strange" for Rutilus to "take over" goblin in terms of squares, but we can always say that Rutilus run through the gate directly to the street, circumventing the need to squeeze through a break, or jump over the wall.

GM Nightfeather |

Nah, to move through a square like that (the three squares move) you have to meet BOTH the conditions for leaving the square he bypasses.
Which, now that I think about it, does make it sound like you're only skipping one square and not two, doesn't it?
Damn, this is a headscratcher. Anybody else have any input?

Actually, as I understood it, it is not BOTH conditions for the square that I bypass, but for my initial square. Here's the rule C&P:
A character may attempt to move three squares during his turn by taking a full-round action, effectively bypassing the second square and moving straight into the third from his starting position. That character must overcome both obstacles on the square he is leaving.
The way I read this - since my/our initial square (except Travis) does not have any "obstacles", any of us can "double move" (for 2 or 3 squares, whatever you rule :-)

Rickmeister |

That...is correct.
But how come Travis has to double-check when he is not "climbing" or "tumbling" when he runs through the house? :D
Either way, I follow the GM ruling. No problem if I have to fall on my face :D

![]() |

A character who wants to attempt to move three cards during his turn can do so by taking a full-round action. That character must overcome both obstacles on the card he is leaving.
I took this from d20pfsrd.com
I think is more clear. Travis must make the checks of the cards he is leaving but he is just taking the no obstacle way so he needs not to jump or climb so he ends up in outer wall
move 1 go downstairs
move 2 go outside
move 3 get to the wall
thats it.

![]() |

The moves always count the square you are in.
A three square move starts with the square you are in, and if successful ends two squares away. If obstacles are involved, it becomes risky.

GM Nightfeather |

Having thought about and reviewed the rules, the chase diagram, and the maps, I think I agree with Jory's assessment above. However, what's done is done at this point and we'll know better next time.
So the goblin is in the Manor Outer Wall space, and those of you who have posted so far are in whatever space you declared you ended in. We're just waiting on Khain, is that right?

Manzcar |

It seems confusing because it goes from saying move one card and then later states you can move three squares.
the rule states the following:
A character who wants to attempt to move three cards during his turn can do so by taking a full-round action. That character must overcome both obstacles on the card he is leaving. In this case, if a character fails either obstacle check by 5 or less, he only moves one card forward and his turn ends. If a character fails either obstacle check by more than 5, he cannot move at all that turn. A character unfortunate enough to fail two obstacle checks in a turn becomes mired in his current square (he might have fallen from a ledge, gotten a foot stuck amid roots, or got caught in a crowd, for example). A character who is mired must spend another full-round action becoming unmired and effectively loses his next turn in the chase. In some cases, becoming mired might impart additional penalties (such as falling damage).
It says to move three cards must pass both tests if fail within 5 move one square. Looking at this the square you are on is not counted.

![]() |

All squares bypassed typically require making both rolls of any squares exited, including the one you began on. Becoming mired by failing by too much is the penalty for rushing.

GM Nightfeather |

Yeah, we're not gonna solve this in time for it to make a difference at this point. With people before and behind her you guys are going to catch that goblin right away, looks like, though we'll see how it plays out.
I'm off to book club (Young Adult Books/Adult Beverages Book Club!) and will be back in a few hours.

Manzcar |

Now that sounds like fun.
Yeah I think the rule gets lost with the language of one card three cards, but I can totally see what Jory is saying.

GM Nightfeather |

The GM of another game I'm in as a player on these boards had kind of a fun idea that I'm going to copy here.
Post a link to an image of someone that would play your character in a movie of this adventure (famous actor, someone you know, whoever). And for extra credit, post a link to a song (on Youtube or something) that could serve as your character's theme song.
Not required! Just if you want to!
For instance, this would be the goblin you're chasings theme song.

1 person marked this as a favorite. |

I dont know about actors at all. But you can picture Alys like the iconic bard of pathfinder.
and this would be Alys Themesong

![]() |

I see Travis like this man:
Edward Nortong
He can be happy and joyful, without worries.
But when he gives you the stern look, you start counting your blessings! :)
Theme song:
I wanted the Highlander Theme Song, but since Manzcar took it, i'll go with...
Born to be wild
Tonight I'm gonna have myself a real good time
I feel alive and the world it's turning inside out Yeah!
I'm floating around in ecstasy
So don't stop me now don't stop me
'Cause I'm having a good time having a good time
I'm a shooting star leaping through the skies

I'm a rocket ship on my way to Mars
On a collision course
I am a satellite I'm out of control
I am a sex machine ready to reload
Like an atom bomb about to
Oh oh oh oh oh explode
I'm burning through the skies Yeah!

Khain - is that John Cusack?
Nice choices, all around :-)
I'd go with this guy
and the song would of course be Bad to the bone

Manzcar |

I kept thinking it was a typo on the others part.

![]() |

It was a typo on my part. In regards to her Necklace of fireballs, I have specifically stated above that Rutilus would like to cast detect magic on her, so I believe we would have taken that away from her...

![]() |

Out of nowhere, an enormous Kellid man in leathers rushes in and bats Ekkie's hand away. "Gods above, Pathfinders, didn't you search the monster! It has my necklace of fireballs!
=> I believe she no longer has it.
@ Rutilus: True, the GM must have overlooked it.
Maybe we can twist it in the sense that you were going to say "Uh, guys..." and that the Kellid dude was a tiny bit faster?
Either way: Good thinking!

![]() |

Great idea Travis, let me work it into my post then.
@GM Nightfeather - no problem, things like that happen, and it is partially my fault for not placing it in OOC speach to be more obvious.

GM Nightfeather |

By the way folks, just a heads up, I'm traveling to Mexico on Friday and will be gone until the following Saturday. However, except for the two travel days I should have net access and be posting as usual. Going on a writing retreat with friends. Check out this insane place we're staying.

Manzcar |

Wish I could write and get paid for it. just no talent.
awesome have fun.

Manzcar |

Daddy can we keep her huhh huhh huhh can we huh I'll take care of her I will whatcha say daddy huhh can we

![]() |

Two things - first, what are the odds of Paizo dice roller rolling three 16's in a row!?!? (my last post)
...and secondly - who took Necklace of fireballs? Is it only 2 charges left, or 2d6 charges left?

![]() |

Ah, cool, thanks for the clarification. I am OK with anyone having it, just missed the part which one of us took it. Most important part is that it is acting simply as a thrown/splash weapon, no need for UMD check

GM Nightfeather |

Packing has begun. I'm up early in them morning to fly from Northern Kentucky/Cincinnati to Houston to Guanajuato/León, then by car to San Miguel de Allende!
I might be able to sneak in a post from an airport someplace, but it will probably be Saturday (North America) before I'm back. But please, y'all, set up the interrogation and get going with whatever questions, bribes, threats, or rude remarks you have planned for Ekkie.
