Welcome, players to the Season 3 Multi-table PbP Special Blood Under Absalom organized by Shifty.
I am looking forward to running this Special for you.
Although the game doesn’t start until January 13, I’m opening the Discussion thread so you can check-in and to let you know I have begun prepping the scenario for you.
I plan on opening the Game Play thread for dotting in a day or two.
In a bit, I will also make some notes about how I like to run my games, but if you have played PbP on the Paizo boards with GMs like Aarvid or Endless Forms, there won’t be any surprises.
Please take a moment to sign in >>here<<, so I get your Chronicle out to you you promptly when the game is finished.
Feel free to ask any questions here and once again, welcome aboard!

Hello everyone! Upaynao here (player of Jezabel P. Skythe, Hakaam Al-Ajam, Iago Dalamitri, Emil Mordraine, and many other, terrible, terrible characters). I can bring Jezabel again for either the 5-6 or the 8-9 subtier, or as we have here, I can bring Kan-Jeh Far-Seeing (no not based on Kanye West, but on a Key and Peele sketch). Alternatively, I could bring something more in tier, I'd just have to spend some time thinking about it.

![]() |

I will have another XP or two on this character by the start of the year, so if we go 5-6, I'll be good to go.
Thanks for running!

![]() |

So it turns out that Kan-Jeh IS level 7. I am a terrible example of what happens when characters aren't updated along with their chronicle sheets. He will be 8 by thetime we start, so are we firm on the 5-6 subtier? Not especially attached to playing this characer, just asking.

Yours is mined |

Kan-Yeh, what I'll do is get an introductory post up in gameplay inside the next 18 hours and PM everyone asking them to check in here and/or dot in there.
There is one player I haven't gamed with before, who has signed up in good faith at 5-6.
So it kinda depends whether s/he has a PC free at a different sub-tier as to whether we change or not. The PC s/he proposes to bring at 5-6 looks fun!
Now I am conscious it is ~Thanksgiving in the States, so it might take a while for everyone to check in. But once they have we'll get this sucka nailed!
Having said all that, if you need to know now for keeping a PC free/other reasons I'd assume 5-6. :)

![]() |

I am likely to play Wembly (6th summoner-old-school). He is finishing up a scenario in the next couple weeks and should be available. I have 1-2 others lower or higher if needed.

![]() |

Howdy gang, Khelreddin here (player of Mohok with a couple of you right now).
Hi Revvy - it's been a while, but we've played together once or twice at least.
I had originally told YiM that I'd like to play this character, which is at least part of why the tier got set as it did. He's a snooty Galtan investigator (though not Inspector Clouseau) who I enjoy playing a lot, though I may be better at the silly accent in person than in a PbP. In any case, I'm flexible on tier and should have characters available at any level.
If we want to think about roles, Vahnt is my best skill monkey (and likes to use Combat Advice to tell others how they're doing it wrong, giving them a wee attack bonus), I have some very effective archers and some reasonable melee folks, and a divine caster or two as well.

![]() |

Hi all! Look forward to be gaming with you!
I was planning to bring this toon (Level 5) who will likely annoy the hell out of Yours is mined and bring great joy to my fellow players.
I also have a level 7 toon I could line up as well if that's what everyone wants although I'd have to do some leveling and possibly slight rebuilding.

![]() |

Alright, well I have a couple more options. I have Rika, the character I'm posting under. She has had an adventure with Master Mido, searching for EeEevil things under Absalom. Sixth level melee hunter, relies on Intimidation rather than handle animal to get animals to do her bidding. She would be level 6. Her personality is well established, but I'm always concerned we'll be too melee heavy.
Still in a PbP but should be done by January, I have Aldebert Dunitee. Taldane, deranged, a level 7 bolt ace wielding a heavy crossbow. His behavior is sometimes outrageous.
Any thoughts?

Awww … you say the nicest things, Vahnt ;)
I do enjoy trying to create a fun atmosphere for you the players. It also eases the sting a bit if I kill one of your PCs ;)
It’s great to be able to play a game that’s part acting/part tactical combat with like-minded people from all over the world.
The two seven-way humor, suspense and tension that can be generated via this medium is just so interesting I think.

![]() |

Barring some sort of catastrophe, I will earn the final XP I need to get into this subtier this upcoming Saturday (then a spot of held credit applies, as well). So while my equipment might change with an influx of monies, I'll get around to levelling to 5 and dotting the gameplay sometime today.

![]() |

Unrelated, but mentioned in a rumor, I don't even know what Master Hasegawa ("Sawa" to most Society Members) would think if some Aspis agents asked her for help to pass the Test of the Startone. Probably "always travel with two clerics, in case the first breath of life doesn't bring you back," and relatedly, "don't get critically hit by cannon golems." That and suggestions to "always aim low."

![]() |

Sorry for not being more engaged, but Wembly is currently in the middle of a battle with gigantic demons and it has him distracted. Assuming he lives (and our game picks up the pace) he will be ready for action by year end.

![]() |

You know, I was thinking we were beginning on December 13, not January 13, heh.
By the time the New Year rolls around I might be able to sneak a couple more GM credits onto our burgeoning rapper. (I will update accordingly).

Yours is mined |

Oh, don’t sweat it, Wembly.
This is such a busy time of year. There’s so much family, festivity and demon-slaying that all needs to be taken care of …
✪⛄❄☠
I’ll post the ground rules now, nice and early in case there are any questions.
• Please make it obvious what buffs you have active and what your AC is.
• I will roll group initiative and track actions in ‘block’ order. In the example below, the PCs highlighted in bold text on the Line 1 ‘block’ can post actions in any order and I will adjudicate those actions in the order they were posted.
You can delay to a later position anywhere in initiative, as normal. As the turn for each PC’s block comes up, I will bold that block and invite those PCs to post their actions.
Jillia Initiative: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Rika Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Master Mido Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Revvy Initiative: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
Vahnt Initiative: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Wembly + Whiskers Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Despicable Villain: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
1. Vahnt, Revvy, Wembly + Whiskers
2. KHAAAAAAAN!
3. Rika, Jillia, Mido
Vahnt, Revvy, Wembly & Whiskers go first!
• Wembly and Whiskers have the same initiative modifier, so I would like to make one roll for the pair to keep them together and the game moving.
• I will roll any passive Perception checks for Wembly and Whiskers individually.
• Miss is always low if a miss chance applies. For example, if there is a 50% miss chance on a melee attack, a result of 1-50 on d100 is a miss.
• I generally allow PCs to roll their own saving throws, AoOs etc. However …
• This is designed to be a fast-paced scenario. If you do not post an action in combat within 24 hours from when I invite you to post, I reserve the right to take actions for your character.
• If I make a mistake on the current round, please let me know and I will try to make it right.
Any questions, please let me know in Discussion or via PM.

Those rules work for me, nice to have them laid out up front.
While I'm here, I'll drop a day job check:
Craft (alchemy) : 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (16) + 17 = 33

![]() |

Nice on the 1E picture. I think I still have the module. Was that from A1 or A4 Slavelords?

![]() |

I played lots of 1E, but never played that one. I recognize the pic, so I think my brother must have had the module. I played the first in the series, Slave Pits of the Undercity.
And for bonus 1E cred, in the mid-90's I played for a couple of years with Erol Otus, who did the cover art for A4, In the Dungeons of the Slave Lords, as well as the cover for Deities and Demigods and lots of other great art.

![]() |

Heh, that module has a copyright that is older than I am.
The closest I get to "1E" is owning a second printing of the CRB.

![]() |

Those rule swork for me; just as a disclaimer, my Wednesdays and Thursdays are usually hectic with local pfs. I will try my best to be on point thought.
Also, I think I'm going to go with Rika on this adventure. With that settled, I will post in the gameplay thread!

![]() |

Cool - Erol Otus was the Wayne Reynolds of 1E - at least on of the few artists that defined the whole look and feel of the game system. Enjoyed his work.

Yours is mined |

Yes, it’s from A3 Assault on the Aerie of the Slave Lords, which is one of the first modules I DM’d. I still have it on my games shelf, pencilled margin notes and all.
It was the first time I remember seeing the well-written outline of a town.
Whoa! A town? How cool would it be to adventure in a town instead of a dungeon!
And the way it messed with players (sorry, guys), to test their courage and perseverance rather than outright kill them.
And Erol Otus? Whoa, Vahnt! I’ve been a fan of his since Palace of the Silver Princess.

@Rika, I have done up some potential token icons for Pratts.
Can you please let me know which one you'd prefer?

![]() |

I'll go with #1 please. lmao

![]() |

Okay, gang, I really hate to do this, but I'm going to have to drop out of this game. It turns out Blood Under Absalom will be run as a multi-table special at a local con here next month, and I'll get to play it live with my son. We go to all the local cons together, and playing Pathfinder together is something we love to do - which is really important to me, since it means my teenage son wants to hang out with me for an entire weekend.
I apologize if this leaves you in the lurch, but I'm hopeful you'll be able to recruit another player to join this excellent bunch of role-players.
Again, sorry to do this, and I hope to play with you all some other time.

![]() |

I'm fine with 5 players but you will probably easily find someone in the flaxseed lodge happy to fill the vacancy...

![]() |

Don’t sweat it, Vahnt!
Spending time with your son is obviously more important :)
I’ll see what I can do about getting a sixth player, assuming you guys want one. Thanks to the amount of notice you've given, there is still a week to do that.
We’ll game again another time :)
Great, thanks for being understanding. Have fun spilling your blood under Absalom, everyone!

![]() |

Rika spill much blood.
;)

![]() |

I hope the run through it with your son goes well!
Let us know how it goes?

Welcome Valjoen_KC!
Have you met everyone?
Jillia is a Cav 5 – definitely NOT a rappin’ Bard
Mido is a Cleric 1/Ninja 3, planning to make me groan with bewildering koan. (He may just succeed ;)
Rika is an introverted Hunter 6 from the jungles of southern Tian Xia. She has a cute velociraptor companion named Pratts.
Wembly is a Classic Summoner with a Crood cat eidolon named Whiskers that ♡ swimming!
Revvy isn’t here yet. I’ve sent him a PM ;)
I will be your GM for this fast-paced special which begins on Friday.
If you could please fill in your row >>Here<< that would help me out!
I have the maps and prep done and am looking forward to running it for you. Please read over the Ground Rules and let me know if you have any questions.

![]() |

I'm still in, it just disappeared completely of my radar since it doesn't show up in my events.
Thanks for the PM ;)
In the lvl range (5-6) I have a 3fighter/2barbarian or a 5cav/1hellknight.
Leaning towards the Hellknight right now since our healing seems to come from wands of curelight wounds/infernal healing (I think?) and the dwarf brawler is a bit (well a lot ;) of a damage sponge and although he's fun to play (and the only character I have in pbp that has an accent) that might not be the best option for a special.
The Hellknight is a lot more durable

![]() |

Wembly is going to have to drop this table. I mistakenly thought we could play one core and one classic table. I already have a core table assignee. Sorry GM and folks. :-(

![]() |

For what it's worth, a bit of holiday GM credit has put Jillia to level 6.
Still not a rapping bard, though...

![]() |

I'm not super worried about the special's difficulty. A shame we can't do a core and a classic table. Oh well (In case you were wondering, I was in the same situation, I decided to stick around).

![]() |

Mido is actually a Ninja 4/ Cleric 1.
He can even channel Energy... but not to let you regain puny hit points...no to make GMs wish their stinkin NPCs had ranks in Sense Motive...
