Zahra posting, testing out my brand new headers.
This looks good!
Hmm
PS Are all of you from the West Coast? Bret and I are from Minnesota. It'll be exciting to be in a PBP where everyone is in the same basic time zone.

Bot Buddy 2000 |

Since I am not currently GMing, I decided to make use of Bot Buddy for Pumpkin. Bot Buddy is always imitating other characters, why not my animal companion?
I didn't want to make a separate alias for Pumpkin, since I usually play with Zahra in face to face games, and it will be easy enough to return Bot Buddy to his normal state when I return to GMing in February.
EDITED to ADD: "Pumpkin" has dotted and deleted gameplay!

![]() |

I do find it hilarious that you created the RoboFox™ GM 2.0.1! Did I inspire you to do that? Bot Buddy got a tremendous amount of use in Risen from the Sands. It seemed like half the group was on vacation or sick at one point or another, and we were under a tight deadline to finish the game.
______________________________
BTW: Day Job (Zahra has bought a Tiger Farm):
Handle Animal: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (15) + 18 = 33
My Handle Animal is sky high because if Pumpkin ever dies, I want to make sure I can retrain his replacement as quickly as possible. Pumpkin is high int, so he has an absurd number of tricks.

How do you want to handle Faction cards? I've four goals completed on my Season 6 Grand Lodge faction card.

I am really easy-going with most things. This is one of them.
You are responsible for checking off boxes on your faction cards, and for applying any bonuses you get as a result of doing so. I trust you to handle this yourself without involving me. If there is something you are unsure whether it qualifies and you want to ask, please do. :)
Just remember that you may check up to 1 box per scenario.
Similarly for reroll items. If you tell me you have a reroll item, I will trust you that you do. :)

Fox... I did a retrain last session, shifting from Improved Initiative to Spell Focus Conjuration, but forgot to update Hero Lab. I'll get my revised sheet and header together tomorrow.
Thanks!
Hmm

I hope you guys don't find Zahra's accent too obnoxious to read. If you want, I can stop substituting the "V"s for "W"s in my writing, and you guys can just imagine that is how those "W"s are being pronounced. In face to face, I keep Zahra's arabic (okay, Keleshite) accent going the entire session. I just hope that it's not too irritating in print.
She's very friendly! And bossy! And she is from Kat-a-pesh, where they gesture with their hands!

![]() |

I think its great, I hope you don't mind my grumpy 5 charisma Tiefling!

![]() |

Good. And no, Zahra doesn't mind. She's a Keleshite princess, the other end of the charisma extreme. She just assumes that everyone will want to kiss her hand. Or open doors for her... And rules are meant to be bent!
In one of my face to face games, a local GM turned to Bret and said, "is she going to keep up that accent all night long?"
Bret said, "Yes, yes she is."
But we were playing in Qadira, another Keleshite nation, and by the time we ended the game, the GM had all the NPCs speaking just like Zahra. It was hilarious.

She sounds like my own Kelishite princess from Qadira. :)

Zahra just updated her sheet. Bye, bye improved initiative. I'll get you back as a bonus feat next level (after this scenario!), but for now you need to make way for Spell Focus: Conjuration.
So... Because we got our instructions as a missive rather than a briefing, is there no chance for the usual VC questions? Will there be an opportunity for Knowledge Checks on what we might already know about the situation?

GM "The Fox" |

You will have the opportunity for Knowledge checks and questions both. Just not with Amara Li.
I'm about to put up the Knowledge checks...

![]() |

Boons: It will take me a little bit of work typing all that in. If you don't mind, I'll put it in a Google Doc and provide the link from my profile. You can then request access. This makes it easier to copy over to Zahra (since we have done many of the same scenarios) and prevents accidental spoilers.
Purchases: Guess I'll make them in Korsova?

![]() |

Thanks, Omar!
At our level we have so many circumstantial boons that I don't remember what I have and what I don't. If we've got any that affect Korvosa or Magnimar, I'd like to know before I roll my Gather Informations!
(The chronicle sheets are at Bret's place, not mine. Usually it's not a problem because these characters usually game together...)

GM "The Fox" |

You don't need to type your boons in. Just let me know if you are using one and cross it off your chronicle. Easy peasy.
Anything you could purchase in Absalom, you can purchase in Korvosa—except slaves. Slavery is outlawed in Varisia. But if there is something you wanted to purchase specifically in Absalom (because you get a discount or anything like that) you may do so. I'm just getting the game moving. :)

![]() |

Darn, I was hoping to stock up on those!

![]() |

Vorel, then you should have bought them in Kat-a-pesh!
@GM: I decided not to wait to find out about the boons when I realized that my take ten would get us most of the way there. Zahra is not a skill person... She really only has a few skills that she is any good at, but Diplomacy is one of them!

No discounts in Absalom, but using down time to put a spell on one of the purchases.
25 gp, dull grey spindle Ioun Stone, painted with a bird motif so it looks pretty.
50 gp, ruby dust
Heightened (4th level) Continual Flame on the Ioun Stone for a better version of the Ioun Torch.
Other purchase is an upgrade, Headband of Wisdom +4. 16000 - 4000 = 12000.
Total = 12075 gp.
Is the above alright?

Looks correct.
Are you willing to cast that spell for others in your party if they provide the material components? You will have had several days on board the ship to do so. :)

I have links in my profile now. I'll update my records for the above items and then update the profile.
Edit to add: Profile should be fully updated now. Please let me know if you want any changes made to it.
Note that the weapon is made of the special material Silversheen, it isn't the magical salve Silversheen. Like with many other things, the same name got used multiple times. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a direct anchor for the link.

More than glad to do it for anyone that wants it. I can do up to two a day now, thanks to the headband.

Bret is thorough and dependable. He's good at putting in things like links. I'm the flighty one... We're kind of like our characters that way. Though I suspect that in real life Bret would want to throttle Zahra... It's good for her that Omar is a patient man.

GM "The Fox" |

@ Omar & Zahra: Have you played Rise of the Runelords? Everyone else here has.

![]() |

We as players are currently going through RotRL as part of a monthly home game.
We are still in Sandpoint, just after a second unfortunate incident involving goblins. I'm getting the impression that the GM is also pulling a lot from Jade Regent, but I don't know how much or what is pulled from where.

GM "The Fox" |

Ok. Cool. :)
As you've probably noticed, this scenario makes some references to people and events related to that AP. We will try to keep spoilers to a minimum.

![]() |

Zahra looks up at the spoiler over her head and frowns.
"Now I vant to fly up there and peek!"

Ranar --
Don't feel bad. We'll slow down as we have things to do other than chatter.
Everyone --
I'm off to aikido tonight. See you all tomorrow!
Hmm

GM "The Fox" |

I'm going to try to slow the pace of the game a bit just to give Ranar a chance to catch up. I'll move on to the Green Market either tonight or tomorrow night. Feel free to keep role-playing! :)
Also, don't forget Omar's generous offer. You can get an ioun stone with heightened continual flame for 75 gp. Even if you have darkvision, this is a good deal—it counters deeper darkness.

![]() |

Since I'm casting the spell, it doesn't have to be on an Ioun Stone. I did that in order to keep my hands free.
Just let me know what object you want it put on. It is 50 gp worth of Ruby dust for the material components. The other 25 gp was to buy a dull grey Ioun Stone since I didn't have one yet.

Yeah Tika and Manuk are a little blown away by the pace as well, I assured her they aren't normally this fast paced, we just have a particularly good chemistry with this group.

![]() |

Well, I am likely the main speed culprit here. I was off work today and trying to get a sense of all of you. Tomorrow, I work and may not be able to post most of the day. I may be the one who disappears!
So, let me get a little sense of you all outside off gameplay.
Vorel = Codanous, friend of Fox
Tika = Sarah Olsen = Mrs. Codanous?
Ninya = Sprite = Mrs. Fox?
Ranar = Jeremy Mayr = VO for all of you?
GM Fox = Fox (duh) = Bobby
I am Hmm = Hilary, a librarian and event host in Minneapolis
Omar = BretI = Bret, a software engineer and event host in Minneapolis
Have I got the relationships right?
Hilary

Something that has always amused me about Zahra's accent is Omar's lack of one. I justify it by the fact that Omar is by far the better linguist...
Now a bit about Bret: he took heighten primarily so that he can make continual flames for the various low level people who play at our venue. He wants to play down a couple times so he can do that. I think he's awesome.

...which is much nicer than pointing out that Bret has a terrible time trying to speak with a foreign accent.

I usually stay in Zahra's accent for the entire game, introducing myself to everyone in character. One time one of the people I was playing with at Fantasy Flight thought that was my real accent, and asked me where I was from!
Ninya, I tried to PM you but there was no link on your profile to do so. Do you need a flanking buddy? I figure that is what the dog is normally for. If you need one, Pumpkin has the flank trick and loves to flank with rogues.

Dingo carries equipment for me - he usually gets left outside of the fight on purpose - he is a guard dog and Ninya does not have much skill at Handle Animal.
Ninya definitely would like to have a flanking buddy and even has a menacing starknife to increase the flank bonus to those willing to flank with her.
I would enjoy flanking with a tiger - claws on one side and my knives on the other Awkwardly patting Pumpkin

After reading through the interactions, my wife is now interested in possibly trying a pbp game sometime and she can actually type. She was threatening to take over for me last night. Knowing her though I'm not sure she would care to observe the subtleties of not immolating her follow Pathfinders.

You can do things in Play by Post that you can do in no other game style. My bard characters love it because they can do full musical numbers in gameplay.
In my Kingmaker game, we were discussing whether a character who came back to life should keep his scars and I was so amused by it I introduced a fantasy musical number to show just how we would use those scars in negotiations with Brevoy...

GM "The Fox" |

Do any of you have the chronicle from #3–24: The Golden Serpent on the character in this game? There might be a relevant boon on there for you.

![]() |

I didn't know we 'ad a King Aspis Consortium! I thought we were an autonomous collective.
