Dain fires at the Aspis agent near the door. red
attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18

Then drops the crossbow and moves and draws his warhammer. "Alright laddies surrender!"

Trusting in her companions to take care of the two newest contenders, Aki raises her shortbow and fires at the Aspis agent stuck to the floor.
Attack vs. Green (Shortbow; Bless, Inspire Courage): 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 3 + 1 + 1 = 10
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Even though it's a poor shot she hopes it gets the point across. "You can see we mean business. I'd surrender now if I were you!"
Maintaining IC too!

Ech-motron starting up
The vishkanya slayer strides toward the pile of crates, sizing up the Aspis agent atop them as he approaches. With a deadly flourish, he draws his estoc and smoothly slides his venom-coated tongue along the length of the blade. "Step aside, Azhagoth. Allow me to show you a truly deadly stroke."
Move 30ft and draw a weapon. Move action to make Green a studied target. Swift action to use Toxic racial ability to apply poison to the estoc.

Dain hits the red guy in armor. "Norborger's curses on you!" Red shouts.
Meanwhile, Green states, "I'll never surrender to a pathetic lot of goody-goodies like you!" *
Green Short Sword at Ech, Entangled and Inspired: 1d20 + 3 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 3 - 2 + 1 = 18

Meanwhile, Blue tries to stabilize.

This is not his day.

Az turns away from the pile of crates and calls back over his shoulder, "The three of you should be able to handle one bloke stuck to a bunch of crates, right? Good. I've got business to attend to." He begins to walk steadily toward the pair of agents standing near the doors, gripping a thorny vine he had procured from inside his long, dark cloak, and muttering a prayer to Gorum. His grip on the vine is so tight that his hand begins to drip blood. He makes a few gestures after a few moments, then points a large, bleeding finger at the dancing agent and shouts, "You're mine, witch! Your magics won't save you from Gorum's servant."
Move 20ft and cast Wrath. I gain a +1 morale bonus to attack and damage against Purple for 1 minute.

Purple, still tap dancing, taps his way out of Az's charge lane. Tappity-tappity-tappity-tap-tap-tap!
♫ Yeah we're the Aspis, the baddest guys that ever was
We're gonna tap dance and kick your asses just because
Oh... See my slick moves, tappity tappity tap
You ain't got anything on us, tusky boy... Oh, snap! ♫
Purple short bow at Dain: 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 2 + 1 = 8
He's so enamored with his own slick dance moves that he forgets to aim properly.
Meanwhile Red decides to follow, cowering behind Purple. "Take that, do gooder!"
Red Crossbow at Dain: 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 2 + 1 = 13
His bolt plunks into the crate behind Dain.

He turns to the other agent purple
"Yah best surrender laddie! Or I'll split yer pretty head open! See if you're still smirking then!"

Dain issues a Challenge to the Aspis agent, but his blow glances off Red's armor.

Ech alas misses. Green, though heavily entangled, looks more self-confident as he dodges the blow. "I may be stuck to a crate, but I'm going to get you, you..." He breaks off confused, as he looks at Ech. "What in hells are you, anyway? Some kind of Pathfinder experiment?"

As Dain charges ahead towards the dancing Aspis and his friend Aki follows at safe distance behind him, singing as she goes.
"Treat this as the warning bell,
Your petty schemes we shall quelle.
Leave the fair city of Diobel,
You dastardly Aspis ne'er-do-wells!"
The end of the stanza is marked by another shot from her crossbow, this time aimed at the smooth dancer.
Attack vs. Purple (Shortbow; Bless, Inspire Courage, Into Melee?): 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 1 + 1 - 4 = 7

"Hahaha! You think you can hide from Gorum's wrath, little witch? Think again!" Azhagoth is practically frothing at the mouth with excitement now that his chosen foe is putting himself in a corner. He moves forward steadily, almost methodical in his menace, and brings the enormous spike of his bec de corbin down towards the tiny dancer.
Move 20ft, attack Purple with reach.
Bec de Corbin, Inspired, Wrath: 1d20 + 4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 4 + 1 + 1 = 24 Damage: 1d10 + 6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 6 + 1 + 1 = 13
The spike slams down into the bard's shoulder, and a pulse of crimson energy courses down through the weapon into the dancer, working to overwhelm the magical energies coursing through his body.
Ending my Inquisition ability to attempt to stagger Purple. DC 13 Fort save to avoid becoming staggered. If failed, gets another save each turn to break the condition.
Borox
|
Borox takes a five-foot step to the west while beginning to swing his Magic Stone loaded sling over his head. Aiming at the entangled Aspis agent in Green, he lets the stone fly.
Ranged Sling Attack: 1d20 + 1 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 + 1 + 1 = 131d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
(I am anticipating this attack maneuver on my turn)
| GM Hmm |
Az taps out all the tap dancer's remaining hit points! Purple goes DOWN.
It is now Red and Purple's turn.
Purple attempts to stabilize.
Purple Stabilize?: 1d20 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (15) + 1 - 4 = 12
Apparently bards are much more hearty than normal thugs in my games.
Meanwhile, it is Red's turn. He pulls out his unholy symbol out of his shirt. "Fools! Feel the wrath of Norgorber!" He channels negative energy, not caring that his bard buddy just went down, because evil clerics of Norgorber are just jerks that way. Channeling is an extraordinary ability that does not provoke.
Negative Energy: 1d6 ⇒ 4
Will Save, Az: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Will Save, Dain: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Az and Dain both save against the negative energy channel, so they only take two damage. The bard buddy is dying AGAIN.
Then Borox's sling attack goes off. Because Green is entangled, it actually hits!
Green Stabilize?: 1d20 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (13) + 1 - 2 = 12
Green goes down, but is not dead.
ORDER: Blue (dying), Green (stab, entangled, stable at -13), Azkhagoth (slice), Red (channel, -6), Purple (dying), Borox (sling), Ech, Aki, Dain
Ech, Aki and Dain are up! You have one nasty Aspis Agent left!

Az, the GM just realizes that with Green and Blue both down, there's no one in initiative between you and the rest of the team. Want to carry through with the rest of your threat?

You betcha I do!
Azhagoth steps past the Vishkanya and once again strikes with his deadly weapon. For him, the time for words is through.
Bec de Corbin, Inspired: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 4 + 1 = 19 Damage: 1d10 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 6 + 1 = 11
"Peh. Wrath of Norgorber, my foot."

Az slays the evil cleric with one strong thrust. Borox stabilizes the downed foes, but the Aspis assault is finished!
--- COMBAT OVER ---
Hours pass, and you set the warehouse back the way it was.
Delroya and her contacts finally arrive to move the goods from the warehouse. "You did it! You held them off! I'm so impressed with all you accomplished! I would like to send some items to the Pathfinder Society in thanks for your assistance. Would that be alright?"

"Do as you feel is right, Miss Delroya. As a matter of fact, that is good advice to follow going forward as well. You felt that what the Aspis has been doing with these drugs was wrong and you came to us to help you remedy the situation. Why not be part of the solution itself? You would be an admirable and valuable Pathfinder, especially with your insights into the Aspis's darker deeds. What do you say?"

Gee, sleep awhile and miss the last of the action! Good job guys!
"My companion has a point," Aki agrees. "None of this would have been possible without you reaching out to the Society first, especially since doing so put you at risk. As for dark deeds, well...I suspect the ranks of the Society would be much thinner if they only allowed proven saints entry," she points out. "For what it's worth, I and I suspect the rest of us would be honored to count you as one of us."

"Heh. Look around you, Delroya. My companion is right. Look at the Pathfinders you see here and you'll see a list a 'dark things' that might challenge your own. We didn't join the Society because we're good people. We joined because we thought we could do something worthwhile. That looks different for each of us, but I'm sure the Society could find a way to help you do something you find worthwhile too."

Redemption is part of the Pathfinder Society's ethos. As ye have chosen to take action for the greater good o' the people and world around ye, I think yew have already begun that process. Ye cannae continue to serve the self-centered goals of the Aspis Consortium or you would'na have taken the actions ye did.
Borox smiles warmly at Delroya.
Your true nature has been shown, lassie. Ye be part of something greater than yerself with us. Ye canne do that with the Aspis Consortium.

"Oh, you are all so kind! I'd love to join with the Society!"
Ambus Valsin is delighted with your performance as agents. "You've stopped a dangerous shipment of drugs, thwarted our enemies, exposed a ring of criminal activity, and rescued drug addicts so they can receive care. Most importantly, you've earned Lord Avid's recommendation for your discretion and brought in a valuable new agent, Delroya. Exemplary work, Pathfinders!"

It has been a tradition in my games for me to invite everyone to add their own DVD-style easter egg to gameplay while the closing credits roll.
<Philosophical Exploration of the Easter Egg>The closing credits are a great place to sum up your adventure and how your character has grown throughout. You've been playing for awhile now, so take some time to look back through the adventure and think about what moments stood out as meaningful, or could be explored a little more.
Your Easter Egg can be presented as a vignette centering around your character, or as a report or letter to your superiors/family, or as a quick scene between NPCs reacting in your character's absence. There are many possibilities! Some good questions to ask yourself and/or answer in an Easter Egg:
1. How did my character introduce themselves? Are they the same character now?
2. What relationships did my character form in this adventure? How will they end? (Or will they continue??)
3. What did my character learn about themselves or the world?
4. What does my character do between adventures?
Finish strong!
So, show us your characters in action, and have fun!
| GM Hmm |
Looking for your Chronicles? Here they are!
In addition, I filled out a "Welcome to Pathfinder Boon" for Borox, since this is his very first character in PFS Play. You'll find it in the same folder.
Borox, if you take your character on further PFS adventures, you'll want to have a character sheet formatted in your profile. Let me know if you want help with that. I'd love to see Borox go on other adventures! Welcome to PFS!
I hope everyone had a great time. I know that I was not Baerlie, but it was my honor to help you finish your mission.

I try to be a really fun GM. I'm very glad that all of you started to enjoy yourselves. I really loved the roleplay you put into this. Great job, everyone!

Epilogue - The Overflowing Oyster
The small tavern had seen many a strange thing in its time but the slender foxwoman who sat at the bar was undoubtedly one of stranger ones, having drawn many a curious whisper or glance since she'd arrived. However she'd been a perfectly pleasant guest, even going so far as to offer a sympathetic ear to owner and barker Pal as he fussed and fumed about a group of troublemakers who'd come through just a few days ago.
"Really? He just tried to pick her up and throw her over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes?" she gasps with a shake of her head. "Well, at least they didn't cause any more damage than they did! People these days are so unpredictable..." she adds with a shake of her head.
As Pal turns away from her she smiles secretivly into her cup.
The price of working with dwarves and half-orcs, I suppose...

Epilogue - The Dust Settles
After the battle in the warehouse, Azhagoth Fellcleaver grows quiet. Despite all of his bravado and violence during the battle, he makes sure not to end the men's lives prematurely. He pats the dwarf cleric on the back and nods approvingly at his mercy. He gathers the unconscious agents together and binds them, ready to take them to the authorities so they may be convicted for their drug trafficking activities.
As he stands above the body of the "witch," however, he looks down with disgust. Though he doesn't do the man any further harm, he does dip his fingers in the man's wounds and use the blood to trace a crude symbol of Gorum on the bard's face. As he kneels down beside the man, he whispers, "Gorum has judged you, witch, and found you at fault for using your magics for ill. For this crime, I mark you damned by the Iron God and, to start on the path to glory, I take the source of your sins." Still kneeling beside the bard, he looks around to check if the others are watching, then shifts down by his feet and slips off the purple dancing shoes. He discreetly puts the shoes in a pocket in his coat and stands. He picks up his pole arm and, with a click, slams the butt on the hard floors and walks away.
