A real pity I cannot interest you in my wares. The woman finally as she moves away.
Only a split-second later, two thug move into the alley, and start causing a ruckus. They hard-handedly begin breaking down shacks, pushing over tent poles, and causing enough ruckus. Several beggars in the alley flee in the direction of the adventurers

![]() |

"Don't let the door hit you-" Swayaah starts before she hears the ruckus. "Reinor, did you see that pendant?"
If the thugs move up to the adventurers, Swayaah will bare her claws, crouch and snarl.

Anything particular about these thugs? What are they wielding? Also, sorry if I totally lead that encounter without input.

Oh great, she didn't even bother to answer my questions. And what if I wanted to buy some?
When the lady left, Reinor leaned to Swayaah and said quietly.
"Well...looks like she is involved in the Red Mantis assassins group, as this pendant is their token."
When the unfriendly thugs started approaching the group, Reinor stepped forward while dragging his sword.
"Fellas! I suggest you reconsider your decision. We are more in numbers and we are better armed."
Ready: will attack non-lethaly if any of the thugs comes close

DM Kludde |

The thugs have saps and daggers, and they seem to be quite unfriendly. They look have the intent of attacking non-lethally, with their saps.

![]() |

Maybe I should have fired an arrow...not as fun though. Bah, they're going for nonlethal strikes. No fun at all!
Swayaah will opt for nonlethal strikes, which is very awkward with a claw. If it isn't possible, Swayaah will pull out her trusty morningstar.

DM Kludde |

It's perfectly possible, just strike at -4 like any weapon. You'll have to roll an attack, though :-)

DM Kludde |

Swayaah tries to punch out a thug (You can roll later, but I doubt you'll take one out immediately, so we can continue)
The thugs use their saps on Swayaah and Reinor. Reiner takes a punch, but Swayaah gets the air knocked out of her by a well-aimed bludgeoning strike. Ooph!

Round 1
Claw, Nonlethal: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 - 4 = 11 Damage, non lethal: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Swayaah swings at the thug, probably missing because she checked her hand. And what does she get in return? Sapped upside the head. I so want to tear his lungs out right now...but we are in city limits. Keep your head together girl!
Round 2
Claw, Nonlethal: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 - 4 = 19 Damage, non lethal: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Swayaah swings twice, probably scratching the thug's face. "So, do you beat up anyone who doesn't buy perfume, or is this the Hundredfingers' way of saying 'hello'?"
Swayaah's left claw hesitates slightly, giving the thug ample time to dodge.

Reinor doesn't mind the thug that is attacking him and moves in behind the second thug.

Combat over
As soon as the thugs are defeated, a man moves out of hiding. Thank you for chasing that woman away. Are you friends of the scarred man? I have a message for him... he says.

![]() |

I wonder if these thugs really think they can take on three of us each. I guess we'll all find out soon.
Annalísa moves around to flank the second thug, piercing at him with her rapier but she stumbles and misses him narrowly.

"Friends is a big word. Let's say we're his employees, at least for now."
After the man gives the message, Annalísa will check both thugs for valuables or any marks of identification.

![]() |

Swayaah rubs her chin as she approaches the man. "You were more worried about the woman than the thugs, huh. Anyway, you got a message for someone?"

DM Kludde |

The thugs each carried a potion and a tanglefoot bag.

DM Kludde |

If you see him, then, tell him that The Red Mantis is searching Eto for a scarred man. He'll know what it means.
This, surely, was the message that Torch was looking for.
That leaves Lozar and Zelekhati on the list

![]() |

"Thank you kindly." Swayaah thanks the man and turns to the group. "Let's get out of here. The longer we stay here, the more likely things will get on my bad side."
Once out of the neighborhood, Swayaah asks "So, where to next? Inverse theft and plain interrogation aren't my favorite schticks."

![]() |

I joined the Pathfinder Society for adventures and as my first one develops, I can't help but feeling more like an errand girl than a hero. I wonder if this Torch character is the norm or an exception.
Annalísa slowly shakes her head, apparently frustrated, then turns to the group. "Let's go plant the prayer book first. It doesn't seem that difficult to do."

![]() |

"Just taste it, may be you'll know what it is." Reinor takes one bottle, smells its contents and tastes a bit.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23 Identify the potion through taste

DM Kludde |

The potions are potion of cure light wounds
The adventurers make it to the reported site of the caravanserai.
More than a dozen camels are tethered outside a large pavilion tent while a score of porters pack supplies for what looks to be a grand archeological expedition. Crates of tools, coils of rope, and sacks of dried food lie in piles waiting to divided up among the beasts of burden. Within the sumptuously appointed pavilion, stacks of scrolls and hand-drawn maps lie strewn across a canopied bed. A tall, dark haired northerner with a thick eastern accent and persistent scowl supervises the storm of activity while checking over an inventory scrawled in a well-worn ledger. “Where are those amphorae of water? This expedition won’t last a week in the Pillars of the Sun without water!”

![]() |

How much Nonlethal damage did Swayaah heal off on the way?

DM Kludde |

Nonlethal heals at the rate of 1 hp per hour. Getting to the caravan took less than that, so I'm afraid: 0

![]() |

Before the group speaks with the man, Insidion turns to the others. "Who is best equipped to sneak the prayer book into his belongings? Annalisa, do you want to volunteer while we distract him?" the tiefling asks.

![]() |

They seem to trust my skills, I guess I'm doing something right."Shouldn't be too difficult. Our mark - Lozar - is probably the tall fellow over there, but we should be certain of his identity before proceeding".

![]() |

"Makes sense to me. Reinor, you want to start a polite conversation with him, confirm his identity and then we'll join in while Annalísa makes the switch?"

DM Kludde |

It's actually quite clear from the rumours and this man's description that the northerner is, indeed, Lozar.

![]() |

"Greetings, northerner," Insidion greets the man. The tiefling seems to be experiencing a rare moment of lucidity.
"Might you come over and explain something to me?" he asks.
diplomacy: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18

DM Kludde |

Be quick with it, can't you see I am busy?

![]() |

"Yes, I know you are in a hurry. I just want to see if I can help get the water situation resolved. If you would like, I'll go check on the amphorae if you'll just explain where to go..." the tielfling says.
He barely glances at Annalisa to make sure she is on the move.

DM Kludde |

If you're looking to infiltrate Lozar's supply tent, I'll need a disguise or stealth check, followed by a sleight of hand to place the book
Lozar is brimming with nervous energy, and rarely looks away form his tent, always checking if everything is rolling as he wants it. And it doesn't, because there's a tiefling talking to him. Help? I have all the help I need, I'm just waiting for these damn supplies to get a move on. Who sent you, then?

![]() |

My Stealth is 4, and SoH is 0 (lousy armor). Anyone can beat that?

![]() |

Annalísa moves silently, trying not to draw attention from anyone around and especially from Lozar. She quickly slips into the tent in the few seconds in which Lozar was speaking to Insidion, and quickly tries to place the book as quietly as possible. Unfortunately, she trips over a box, making some noise in the process. I hope no one heard that...

As soon as Annalisa went to the tent, Reinor approached Lozar, tapped him on the shoulder and started speaking loudly.
"So!! You are Lozar, right? I heard, you are going on an expedition! May be you'll need some assistance in it? Believe me, I have quite and experience in exploring old tombs, dungeons and that sort of stuff! You know, once we explored an old dungeon and we woke up a ghoul-braineater from his long slumber! A nasty thing, indeed! Nearly killed two my companions! But we handled it! And we managed to find some pretty great relics there, too! Believe me, you will not doubt if you'll take me with you!"

DM Kludde |

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
Annalisa manages to sneak into the tent, but then gets stopped by a Hey! What are you doing there. Get out! Stay away from that.
I'm not hiring any armed folk at the moment. Lozar replies curtly to Reinor.

![]() |

"Well, I can understand that," Race says loudly to Lozar, coming up and shoving Reinor roughly aside, "at least, in not hiring him. I, on the other hand, have far more useful skills for such an expedition, and am quite happy to offer my services for a mere 10% of your profits."

DM Kludde |

Labor throws Race an impatient look is there a sign somewhere saying that I am in need of a clown? The Ustalav caravan driver is growing increasingly impatient.
Any other tricks you want to try?

![]() |

I could try sneaking in as well, but my Stealth is only +4. Intimidate is also +4, but not sure how that would help. Should I try slipping it in, anyway?

![]() |

If the latest trick doesn't work - and I'm not sure Annalísa can try again so soon after failing - we might need to wait for night and/or follow the caravan and slip the book whenever we have a chance.

![]() |

Insidion crosses his arms and sees how the man responds to Race. We could also try to bring it in with the water somehow...

![]() |

Swayaah sits back and watches the mischief unfold. She pays attention to Lozar in particular, hoping to give a signal when he is finally distracted.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
If asked what she's doing there, Swayaah will put on her ditziest face. "Oh! I heard two incredibly dashing men were around here and I had to see! Their armor, their bravery, their... swords! And now they're going to duel for my love! Isn't it romantic?"
Bluff: 1d20 ⇒ 12 +2 if human
Swayaah gets a little too in character to act as an effective lookout, though.

DM Kludde |

Sense motive: 1d20 + 8 - 4 ⇒ (19) + 8 - 4 = 23
The Ustalavian mutters something more about clowns, but as the ruckus gets too much, he shouts [b]Stop that! I've had enough of you lot, go get yourselves killed somewhere else![/ooc]
