I had hoped to get this out of the way earlier, but the ape thing kinda killed any spell casting thus far. This is the first spell caster I have ever played, and a little coaching may be needed on what to post and how. I think I have this correct, but let me know if I did it wrong.

So far so good! A summoned monster appears on your next turn, acts on your initiative, and lasts for one round (# rounds = your wizard level). You can basically direct the summoned eagle and take your own normal actions as well (including another spell) on Round 2.

Summon Monster I actually lets you summon a celestial eagle. It uses the regular eagle stats, plus you add the additional perks of the celestial template... however, all you really need to know at this early level about the celestial template is that it can Smite Evil. So you could have it fly into melee and make either a talon or bite attack at +3 for 1d4 damage, and declare the eagle is smiting the target to add +1 (= creature's HD) to this damage, applied if the target is evil.

Since your alignment is neutral you could opt for a fiendish eagle instead - it Smites Good instead, which works exactly the same except the +1 damage applies to good-aligned targets. I suspect a celestial eagle may be the better bet here, however.

Very good information, Thank you!! My regular GM is out of commission for the holidays, and his only reply was that hes not big on magic users either. I have seen the spell dc's being posted so that was my main problem.. I didnt know if I needed to do that or not, since there is no saving throw for an enemy to beat

No prob. :)

Right, summon monster spells don't require saving throws, so no need to give a save DC when casting one. A GM can always quickly calculate the DC themselves (for a wizard: 10 + Int modifier + spell level + misc bonuses (e.g. Spell Focus feat)), so providing a save DC on your part is simply a convenience to the GM.

….and chronicle sheets are up! Thanks for playing!

Silver Crusade

Male Human Two Handed Fighter 2 / Invulnerable Rager Urban Barbarian 2| HP: 18/41 | AC: 15 16/17 DR/1 (11 Tch, 15 Fl) | CMD: 20 | F: +9, R: +2, W: +3 | Init: +3 | Perc: +7, SM: +1 | Active conditions: controlled rage +4 Str, +2 Will (morale),

Do we need to fill in the blanks and give them back? Also, if we want to spend some of our earnings, how do we do that? For instance, Conlaoch would like to spend some gold on a MW Nodachi and probably should use 2 PP to get a wand of CLW for others to use on him. I know I need to keep a tracking sheet, but do I also need this noted or approved? Thanks, and thanks again for the run!

what are the stats on the spear that we recieved?

Conlaoch - I was assuming GM Beman trusts us to do it ourselves since he signed off on everything. +5 Bracers of Armor, woo hoo! ;)

Amelia - Actually, the +1 vicious spear is only for the higher Tier 4-5 (for levels 4-5). We played Tier 1-2 (since we were all levels 1 or 2), and can only purchase items listed under that section. The freely downloadable Guide to Pathfinder Society Organized Play explains how to buy gear and what is available for purchase (pages 21-22). But to summarize, instead of distributing the loot among us (like in normal games), each of us can actually opt to purchase (yes, purchase) one or more loot items found in the adventure. For example, each of us can buy one bird feather token at 300 gp if we wished, despite the fact that we only found one in-game.

Also, don't forget to roll your day job check (if you have a day job). :)

Ok yea I get that.. I was just referring to the in game post that we were given a spear.. didn't know if that was like a boon or if it was chronicle sheet related.

Oh I see. My guess would be that line may have been meant for the higher tier of play, but maybe I am wrong and GM Beman can elaborate? Good catch.

It's the vicious spear in the tier 4/5 section of the chronicle sheet. Like all loot it becomes the property of The Society until you are able to purchase it. (As per the Guide to PFS Play). A +1 vicious spear is something that anybody can purchase once you get the appropriate prestige and gold so its mostly just there for flavor.

Speedy recovery, Senja. And thanks for clarifying, GM Beman.
