Description:
Clothed in the orange and brown robes of his eastern order, a short monk stands before you. His crow-like visage is often as stern and uncompromising as the rigorous physical and mental training he has endured. He wears a simple bamboo hat upon his feathered head, and typically bears an exotic staff in hand. He has a light pack strapped over one shoulder. Back Story:
Early in his Pathfinder career, this enthusiastic tengu monk once memorably exclaimed the battle cry, “Beware, it is... the CRAAAW!” as he held up a taloned hand in an attempt to intimidate his enemies into surrender. Accidentally giving his allies and enemies alike a good chuckle, he has been known to his fellow Pathfinders by his nickname, the Craw.
Kuaizi Wu is his true name. Polite to a fault, Kuaizi strives to exemplify the proper conduct of an eastern gentleman-scholar. He is a firm believer in both the esoteric rituals and scholarly philosophy of his eastern religious tradition which looks to Iro-Shu (Irori) as the Enlightened One, a self-perfected role model for compassion and wisdom. Thus, he commits himself to a code of non-violence, non-greed, and speaking the truth or not speaking at all. He also refrains from intoxicants, from unchastity, and from sleeping in luxurious, soft beds or sitting upon high chairs. Kuaizi was born in Xa Hoi, Empire of the Dragon, in far eastern Tian Xia. He took his monastic vows and entered Iroran Doan Monastery as an older child. Here, he was well trained in the institution's esoteric and meditative practices. Passionate about spiritual teachings, the energetic monk has traveled throughout much of Tian Xia in his short lifetime, searching for authentic religious texts to expand spiritual understanding for all, and has worked as a translator and scribe. Naturally curious about foreign tales and ways as well, Kuaizi joined the Pathfinder Society to travel the world. He was eager to demonstrate the superiority of his homeland culture abroad, and joined the Lantern Lodge faction. He has remained active in Avistan and Garund since. When his faction abandoned the west, Kuaizi opted to continue making a difference in the Inner Sea region, sharing his values by demonstration through the Silver Crusade. Stats:

Bonus Feats: Kuaizi gains Dodge and Improved Grapple as bonus feats. Crane Fighting Style: As a swift action, Kuaizi can enter the crane stance employed by this fighting style and use the Crane Style feat. The crane style focuses on defense and agile counterattacks. Practitioners are known for graceful, one-legged stances and folding arm techniques that mimic a crane's enormous wings. Evasion (Ex): Kuaizi can avoid damage from many area-effect attacks. If he makes a successful Reflex save against an attack that normally deals half damage on a successful save, he instead takes no damage. Evasion can be used only if Kuaizi is wearing light armor or no armor. He does not gain this benefit if helpless. Fast Movement (Ex): Kuaizi gains a +10 ft. enhancement bonus to his land speed. He loses this extra speed if he wears armor or carries a medium or heavy load. Flurry of Blows (Ex): Kuaizi can make a flurry of blows as a full-attack action. He makes one additional attack, taking a –2 penalty on all of his attack rolls, as if using the Two-Weapon Fighting feat. These attacks can be any combination of unarmed strikes and attacks with a monk special weapon (he does not need to use two weapons to utilize this ability). For the purpose of these attacks, Kuaizi's base attack bonus from his monk class levels is equal to his monk level. For all other purposes, such as qualifying for a feat or a prestige class, he uses his normal base attack bonus. Kuaizi applies his full Strength bonus to his damage rolls for all successful attacks made with flurry of blows, whether the attacks are made with an off-hand or with a weapon wielded in both hands. He may substitute disarm, sunder, and trip combat maneuvers for unarmed attacks as part of a flurry of blows. Kuaizi cannot use any weapon other than an unarmed strike or a special monk weapon as part of a flurry of blows. A monk with natural weapons cannot use such weapons as part of a flurry of blows, nor can he make natural attacks in addition to his flurry of blows attacks. Maneuver Training (Ex): Kuaizi uses his monk level in place of his base attack bonus when calculating his Combat Maneuver Bonus. Monk Proficiencies: Kuaizi is proficient with the brass knuckles, cestus, club, crossbow (light or heavy), dagger, handaxe, javelin, kama, nunchaku, quarterstaff, sai, shortspear, short sword, shuriken, siangham, sling, spear, temple sword, plus all other special monk weapons. He is not proficient with any armor or shields. When wearing armor, using a shield, or carrying a medium or heavy load, Kuaizi loses his AC bonus and flurry of blows abilities. Still Mind (Ex): Kuaizi gains a +2 bonus on saving throws against enchantment spells and effects. Stunning Fist (Ex): Kuaizi knows just where to strike to temporarily stun a foe. Use of this ability must be declared before making an attack roll (thus, a failed attack roll ruins the attempt). Stunning Fist forces a foe damaged by Kuaizi's unarmed attack to make a DC 14 Fortitude saving throw (10 + ½ character level + Wisdom mod), in addition to dealing damage normally. A defender who fails this saving throw is stunned for 1 round (until just before Kuaizi's next turn). A stunned character drops everything held, can’t take actions, loses any Dexterity bonus to AC, and takes a –2 penalty to AC. Kuaizi may attempt a stunning attack twice per day (monk level). Constructs, oozes, plants, undead, incorporeal creatures, and creatures immune to critical hits cannot be stunned. Unarmed Strike: Kuaizi gains Improved Unarmed Strike as a bonus feat. His attacks may be with fist, elbows, knees, and feet. This means that he may make unarmed strikes with his hands full. There is no such thing as an off-hand attack for a monk striking unarmed. Kuaizi may thus apply his full Strength bonus on damage rolls for all his unarmed strikes. Usually, his unarmed strikes deal lethal damage, but he can choose to deal nonlethal damage instead with no penalty on his attack roll. Kuaizi has the same choice to deal lethal or nonlethal damage while grappling. His unarmed strike is treated as both a manufactured weapon and a natural weapon for the purpose of spells and effects that enhance or improve either manufactured weapons or natural weapons. Kuaizi also deals 1d6 damage with his unarmed strikes, more damage than a normal person would. Vow of Peace: Kuaizi must strive to attain peace and may only use violence as a last resort. He can never strike the first blow in combat. If attacked, he must use the fight defensively action or the total defense action for the first 2 rounds. He must always give his opponent the option to surrender, and cannot purposely slay another creature that could reasonably be influenced to flee or join a civilized society as a productive member (obviously this excludes many monsters). Kuaizi has learned how to grapple and pin opponents, tying them with specialized knots that allow them to work themselves free after sufficient effort. He is also a vegetarian. Kuaizi increases his ki pool by 1 ki point for every 5 monk levels (minimum +1). Vow of Truth: Kuaizi is not allowed to deliberately speak any lies, including bluffing, stating half-truths with the intent to deceive, exaggerating, telling white lies, and so on. This applies to all forms of communication. If presented with circumstances where telling the truth would bring harm to another, the monk remains silent. Kuaizi increases his ki pool by 1 ki point for every 5 monk levels (minimum +1). ────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Exemplar of Falcon's Hollow (1-43): Kuaizi has saved the town of Falcon's Hollow from certain death. As a result, he is a famed Andoran adventurer and gains a +1 circumstance bonus on any Charisma-based checks with any citizen of Andoran. Favor of Cartahegn (2-01): While in a settlement of 5,000 people or more anywhere on the continent of Garund, Kuaizi may purchase mundane equipment (but not weapons or armor) through his favorable connections with House Cartahegn at a 10% discount. Favor of Yagevna (0-04): The Yagevna family in Irrisen recognizes Kuaizi as a close associate for freeing their daughter, Natalya, from her icy prison. When in Irrisen, he gains a +2 circumstance bonus on all Diplomacy rolls when he mentions the Yagevna family and how he assisted them. Notes:
