Usually the goal is just to catch the person, then the chase is over and you resolve the outcome through RP or combat. So the catcher doesn't really need to ability to detain the quarry, just to move into their chase square.
Edit: Meaning that if someone can do a full-round action, I think this would be over now.
Luurg

^ This is kind of why I ask. Luurg is a veteran of chase scenes with his goblin adventures and has a boon I'll be using. Baring poor rolls.
So a full round action we can go from where we are with a successful check vs both 1st square obstacles to the start of the 3rd square?
| GM Mjolbeard |
As a full-round action, you can move up to three squares, but you have to clear both obstacles on the card you are currently on. If you fail either check by less than 5, but succeed on the other, you move one card. If you fail one of the checks by more than 5, you can’t move that turn. If you fail both cards by more than 5, you become mired and have to spend another full round action to become unmired, effectively losing your next turn.
Since the space of each card is equivalent to 30 ft, there are speed bonuses/penalties available. For each 10 feet by which your speed exceeds 30 ft, you gain a cumulative +2 bonus to your checks in the chase. For each 10 ft by which your speed is less than 30 ft, you gain a cumulative -2 to your checks.
The objective is to try to catch up to the Mauler by entering the same space as him. Well play out what happens from there, but assuming there is a possibility of combat once the chase is over, well keep the initiative separated like it is now. This does mean there’s a chance of some party members lagging behind in the final confrontation if they fail checks and don’t keep up in the chase scene.

Great! Thanks for the clarifications.
Luurg is ready to catch himself a hairy beast!

Alrighty folks! We’re in the final stretch here! This is the final encounter, and I’ll be getting your chronicles ready for you. More importantly, because this is part of Game Day VI, we get t roll for BOONS!
Please roll a d20. On a 19 or 20, you win! Please also roll a d4 to determine which boon you’ve won.
With that, let’s get this started!
Boon!: 1d20 ⇒ 14

Shoot! No winners this time. Well, at least you guys are handling this fight pretty easily. We should be able to wrap up by the end of this week! Keep up the good work, team!

*Re Reads Sheela's class features*
Pfft, I DO have Woodland Stride! I shouldn't have gotten stuck in that thicket at all. I thought I got it at level 4.
Poor Woodland Stride. You finally had a chance to be useful and I forgot about you.
Luurg

Ya.. Luurg is in the Exchange, but due to his... less than stellar people skills... has never really gotten his business off the ground.
But you get all the fruit you can pick!
| GM Mjolbeard |
Nicely done, everyone! I'll have your chronicles put together and get everything reported tonight!
Sheela Kolphan

Nah, it's fine. Sheela isn't good at chasing, and you guys killed most of the monsters before her spells kicked in. Plus all of my lousy Diplomacy rolls did not help. If I had charmed Vilk it probably would have ended the encounter right then and there.

Game is reported!
Here are the Chronicles for everybody. Bishop and Marduk, if you'd to roll for Dayjobs, please go ahead, and I'll update your sheets.

Forgo your Downtime to nonviolently fight for the cause of liberty by spending time organizing protests, freeing slaves, or distributing revolutionary material. Doing so requires a successful Disable Device, Knowledge (local), or Stealth check (DC = 15 + your character level).

I've been told by a few different GMs that you can take 10 on those rolls btw.... for next time.

Marduk, you're updated chronicle sheet with your day job earnings is now available.
Thanks again for playing everyone!

Great game GM, thank you for running!

Thanks Mang! Could you put on my chronicle a purchase for 2PP, a potion of remove blindness/deafness?
Thanks!
Sure thing, buddy! Here ya go!
